Maria DeCotis is a comedienne, an actress, a writer, a singer, a dancer—a Renaissance woman in entertainment. She came to broad public attention when she impersonated Andrew Cuomo, during the pandemic. It was hilarious, and creative. She has lost Cuomo as a public figure, but she has many more characters in her repertoire. With Jay, she talks about her life and career. She is a breath of fresh air. “A break away from the everyday,” as a fast-food slogan once had it. Enjoy.

Jay's missing (see below) and Robbie and Art talk about other podcasts and series finales. Could Episode 20 be the last we hear of Guys of a Certain Age!! Well...no. With Jay out on assignment, this episode's Geek of the Week features two podcasts to listen to when you're not listening to Guys. Art suggests listening to Blockbuster, Matt Schrader's dramatized "biopod" of the early days of Spielberg and Lucas as they create Jaws and Star Wars. Robbie's podcast pick is Malcolm Gladwell's Revisionist History, a fascinating podcast that reinterprets events, people, or ideas from the past. With the recent series ends of GOT and Big Bang Theory, Robbie and Art take a look at what makes a series finale good and cite a few examples of shows that got it right and shows that seemed a bit... Lost. So grab a coffee cup or water bottle, and join us! And don't forget to subscribe, because we're not done yet. SHOW NOTES Blockbuster: A Six-Part Original Series. Set in the 1970s, this immersive "biopod" tells the story of two big-dreaming filmmakers and friends, Steven Spielberg and George Lucas, and how they turned their lives upside down to lead a movie revolution. Malcom Gladwell's Revisionist History. Each week for 10 weeks, Revisionist History will go back and reinterpret something from the past: an event, a person, an idea. Something overlooked. Something misunderstood. Jay's undisclosed location this week.

A new week means a fresh episode of the Real Life Podcast coming straight for your earholes, and this week's podcast gets a little bit heated as Jay returns from his vacation to discover the Oilers have turned into a dumpster fire since he's been gone. With Jay back from his Australian vacation, there was a lot of catching up to do as he reacclimatizes himself to being back home and being back in the mix with the Oilers. When he left, the Oilers were in the midst of a solid run that saw them climbing their way up the Western Conference standings, but then things really went sideways so we hear the Squire describe what it was like to be frustrated by the Oilers while trying to relax on the other side of the planet. On the bright side, Nation HQ will be getting a new Australian game called Finska set up in the yard and it could be used to solve any and every dispute that comes up with the crew.  With the vacation recap out of the way, the guys got into a lot of Oilers talk as they try to figure out what the hell is going on with this hockey team. Is there a trade out there that could potentially solve the issues we've run into? Considering this is the fourth year of McDavid's career, the guys dipped their toes in the unthinkable waters of Connor asking for a trade and what that would mean for not only the team but for the franchise. Even more disappointing than the thought of McDavidless Oilers is the idea that no one would probably blame him if he did want out. As you can imagine, this was a tough conversation to have based on the hopes and dreams that came with winning the McDavid lottery. Could the Oilers actually be on the verge of ruining the golden opportunity they were given?

Fortunately, things aren't all bad as his view of Bondi Beach is beautiful and his plans for a Christmas down under were more than enough to make the boys jealous. With Jay off the phone and back to his Aussie adventure, Baggedmilk and Wanye turn to more important matters such as how they're wasting their time on Instagram. Honestly, though, how could they not be excited when Daddy Long Neck releases a brand new track with Wide Neck that is taking the Internet by storm? Your mentor has been there and done it and they can draw from their experience so you don’t make the costly mistakes they once did. BEST MOMENTS “I get to live the dream and perform all over the world for big brands” “With Jay’s help, I was able to turn my hobby into a proper business.” “What I wanted to do was give something back and see If I could transfer my recruitment and mentoring skills.” “Accountability really pushed me on and I got some phenomenal results.” “The easiest person to lie to is yourself” “The Prince’s Trust has 55,000 entrepreneurs going through there doors every year.” ABOUT THE HOST Jay Dhillon is a serial entrepreneur, investor and philanthropist based in the UK with a proven track record of growing businesses from start-up to success- and helping others do the same. From humble beginnings, Jay grew his first business from 0-500 employees and three locations, racking up sales of over £30 million – all without any investment other than a small amount of savings. The business went on to acquire major clients such as Landrover, Jaguar, Toyota and New Look, to name a few. Its huge success inevitably brought about outside interest and at the age 33 Jay eventually sold the company to a London investment firm in Doyen Resources. Today, Jay owns several businesses in different sectors and helps entrepreneurs achieve success. A calling to give back and help others led to Jay being chosen for the highly-coveted role as a Prince’s Trust mentor, where his achievements were marked by a personal invitation to Buckingham Palace to meet Prince Charles. After helping several young entrepreneurs to success as a mentor for the Trust, Jay’s burning desire to bring his wisdom and knowledge to a wider audience ultimately triggered the concept of The Business Mentor Podcast. Jay feels that anyone can achieve success in business with the right advice and mentoring and is now sharing his knowledge with his growing audience via his podcast. In the UK alone 95% of business fail within the first five years and Jay’s aim is to reduce that number. Backed with the hard-earned knowledge and experience from his time in business, The Business Mentor Podcast will share Jay’s personal business lessons as well those of other successful entrepreneur guests who share their wisdom and secrets on the show. CONTACT METHOD https://www.jay-dhillon.com/ https://uk.linkedin.com/in/jaydhillon https://www.instagram.com/jaydhillonuk/ https://www.facebook.com/JaydhillonUK/ Jay@businessmentorpodcast.com ABOUT THE GUEST From the moment Luca’s Uncle Bruno plucked a coin from behind his ear at age 6, he has been fascinated by the art of magic to a point of obsession. After begging his mum for a magic set for Christmas, Luca was soon hooked on the magic pill and, little did his parents know at the time, they’d sparked a lifelong passion. Getting his hands on every magic book and trick he could, Luca soon began to build up an impeccable sleight-of-hand skillset at a very early age. After two years of performing at private parties and weddings whilst at school and sixth form, Luca took the leap of fate into pursuing his dreams. With the help of the Prince’s Trust – the same organisation who helped Dynamo start – Luca launched his business as a magician aged just 18. His work ethic, talent and instantly likeable persona helped him quickly establish himself as one of the hottest properties in the industry. With his magic already taking him around the world, Luca was headhunted to audition for Britain’s Got Talent 2015. He took his close-up act to the Birmingham Hippodrome, where he received an ovation from the 2,000 strong crowd and four yes votes from the celebrity judges, Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams. Since his success on the show, Luca’s career has roared from strength-to-strength and now he regularly performs for celebrities and top end corporate clients, being their trusted magician of choice.

Today’s episode features Dr. Tommy John, chiropractor, sports performance specialist and pioneer in youth sport injury prevention.   Dr. John is the son of the famous major league pitcher, Tommy John, whom the famous elbow reconstruction surgery is named after (I actually went through that surgery myself as a result of throwing the javelin, but moreso due to poor technique than the typical chronic overtraining and lack of rest and movement most young athletes encounter).  He carries Master Degrees in Health and Exercise Science from Furman University, and brings over 17 years of health experience to the table.   He had stints as a professional baseball player himself before a shoulder infection from a surgery ended his career. I first came across Dr. John’s work in my search for a better explanation of Jay Schroeder methodics.  As I learned more about him, I found that he is a wealth of knowledge, not just on some of the things he learned from Jay, but also on human movement and performance, training psychology and youth injury prevention.  Dr. John combines his extensive background in sports performance and chiropractic to deliver a unique training experience and insight that can push forward our coaching. On today’s episode, Dr. John will go into his time learning from Jay Schroeder, bodyweight training as a staple, how and when to utilize barbell training, movements all athletes do well, and thoughts on injury prevention in youth and general athletic performance.  Dr. John has a new book coming out on exactly that topic called “Minimize Injury, Maximize Performance, A Sport Parent’s Survival Guide” which I would highly recommend. Today’s episode is brought to you by SimpliFaster, supplier of high-end athletic development tools, such as the Freelap timing system, kBox, Sprint 1080, and more.   Key Points: Dr. John’s background as an athlete, sports performance specialist and chiropractor Dr. John’s experience with Jay Schroeder and how it changed his program Primary reasons for the 10x increase in youth sports since the 1990’s Why free movement training and bodyweight training is a core facet of programming How and when to utilize barbell training in an athlete’s training regimen Ideas on injury, recovery and training 3-4 Movements Dr. John really likes to see athletes do well Thoughts on extreme isometrics and large training volumes or durations Quotes: “Jay wouldn’t just give you information… it forced you to almost challenge him, and go find out for yourself” “With Jay, there was no icing, no stretching, and no running to condition” “If you can’t hold on to the picture (of your goals), it’s not happening” “Pick any program, but if (your intention, emotion and direction) is fueling you, your results are going to be pretty amazing” “Soft tissue revenue is plugged to hit 17 billion by 2022 with the main driver being youth sports” “The movement should be very similar when you are unloaded or loaded” “Promote freeplay as much as possible, keep the smartphones out of their hands until their teenage years, and then (get them outside to play)” “The ones that function better are the ones that explored (movement) on their own” “It’s not a weight in sports that is breaking us down, it’s force (as a function of velocity)” “If I can take a bodyweight and generate a massive amount of force, with just them generating the stimulus from inside them out, instead of outside them in, the better the tie into life, the quicker the person becomes more athletic” “If we resist a poor movement, then we are locking (that movement in) under resistance (training)” “There is no difference between rehab, and performance and recovery and building and power, and training is training is training” “In America, orthopedics and medical reign supreme” “Move every joint you have a day, the number of times years you are old” About Dr.

For some people, music is nothing special, then there are people who love music, and then are finally those who live for music. To these people Jay Preston, who has devote his body and soul to the music, also belongs to. No wonder, that it propels him behind the turntables in 1994. Quick he develops his own style. Since then he fascinates the audience with his unique sound, which doesn't fit into any category. Wether Trance, Electro, House or Progressive House, like no other, he knows how to combine the different music styles together and he always takes the party crowd on a new journey at the time. It's really important for the artist, to reach the people emotionally with his music and always tell a new story in his sets. 2003 the desire to show his emotion also in his own productions becomes oversized, so that Jay Preston starts with producing. With success, because many remix requests from the label "Trinity Musix" are following. 2007 Jay Preston find his way into the Electro City family and he becomes support DJ and member. Since 2005 Electro City is touring with the event of the same name all over Europe and its hottest clubs and festivals. With Jay's version of the Electro City hymn, he is represented, among other things, on the "Electro City compilation Vol. 2". And also his solo single "Call the white night" took off and found it's place on the compilation "Electro City Vol.3" immediately. There is no question, the story goes on....! Further CDs and one DVD is on the way!
