In this episode of the Fleet News Group podcast, we sit down with Joe Sofra, CEO of ANC Delivers, to explore the company's bold journey to electrify last mile deliveries. With a history stretching back over 100 years — from delivering theatre tickets on bicycles to powering today's e-commerce giants like Bunnings, IKEA, JB Hi-Fi, and Telstra — ANC has built its reputation on innovation and customer experience.Joe reflects on the landmark 2019 partnership with IKEA that committed to 100% zero-emission home deliveries by 2025, a move that pushed ANC to the forefront of sustainability in logistics. He candidly shares the challenges of starting with first-generation EVs, the learning curve of range anxiety, charging solutions, and engaging contractor drivers in the transition.By World EV Day 2025, ANC reached a major milestone: more than 100 electric vehicles on the road. Joe explains how this achievement has deepened relationships with partners and delivery professionals, while also transforming the customer experience — from quieter streets to greener driveways.Looking ahead, ANC is targeting 300+ EVs by 2028 and is rethinking efficiency with a “carbon cost per order” approach, aiming to do more with fewer vehicles. For Joe, the mission is clear: electric vehicles are not just viable for metro last mile deliveries — they're the future. This conversation highlights ANC's role as a pioneer of zero-emission logistics and its commitment to creating lasting smiles for customers while cutting carbon emissions.

Imagine the difference an additional 40% payload per trip could make to a refuse fleet. That's what Parker Meeks, CEO of Hyzon, is hoping to give haulers in the North American market looking to move away from diesel via Hyzon's hydrogen fuel cell-powered electric refuse trucks, which are now being tested in the U.S. in partnership with New Way, a refuse truck body manufacturer, and Recology, a San Fransisco-based hauler."While [all-electric refuse trucks] can do the work on a micro level going job to job house to house, the weight of the batteries creates a situation where most battery trucks can only do about 40-50% of a day's work, because there's a significant weight penalty that's on the truck because of how heavy those batteries are," Meeks says. "So, what we're seeing in most battery-electric trucks is up to a 40% payload penalty, meaning they can carry only 6-7 tons of trash. That's a big problem, because to accomplish the same refuse collection in a single day, you're either making 40% more trips or you're buying 25-40% more trucks. That is the fundamental reason why refuse fleets are so excited to try our truck because we believe we have a vehicle that is the only viable zero-emission refuge collection vehicle on the market today." In this episode of The Amped EV Podcast, Meeks breaks down how the performance of Hyzon's hydrogen fuel cell-powered electric refuse vehicle compares to all-electric or trucks with internal combustion engines, how Hyzon is addressing common hydrogen-related challenges like fueling and infrastructure, and how Hyzon has adapted what it learned from running this truck in Australia for the North American market. Transportation Matters - The CEO Podcast of Daimler Trucks & Buses
Sustainable transport of the future requires the right vehicles - and a lot has already happened here: Daimler Truck already has ten battery-electric models in its portfolio. But for customers to actually convert their fleets on a large scale, they need not only the right trucks and buses, but also a comprehensive charging infrastructure. Green transport is only possible with sufficient green energy. Martin Daum talks to E.ON CEO Leonhard Birnbaum about the mammoth task of building such an infrastructure. Transportation Matters - The CEO Podcast of Daimler Trucks & Buses
Daimler Truck is currently building its new logistics site for the worldwide spare parts supply of Mercedes-Benz Trucks in Saxony-Anhalt. Of course, the convenient location in the heart of Europe plays an important role here - but Saxony-Anhalt is also doing a lot right beyond that. In an interview with Daimler Truck CEO Martin Daum, Minister President Dr. Reiner Haseloff explains why location development is a top priority for him, how he convinces companies to locate in his state, how he wants to use the transformation of the economy towards CO2 neutrality to move Saxony-Anhalt forward - and why a positive image of Germany is so important for the prosperity of us all.
