We started this podcast to talk about cats, and taking care of yourself (and cats obviously). We'll have fun talking about cats, we have stories, and mental and physical well-being. We also like to talk about random things going on in the world at large, but mostly its cats and you taking care of yourself. We are available wherever fine podcasts are sold, er... played and downloaded. Specifically, find us on Google Podcasts, Apple, Spotify, iHeart, Audacy, and more!
Hey it's good to be back home again... especially with what happened during the weekend that was. Our third outing to the West Bend Cache Ba$h in West Bend, Wisconsin was... well, not the charm. Hey, it's not my fault Nissan cars aren't as reliable as Toyota. It IS my fault that my car has over 180,000 miles on it. It's not my fault that alternators are designed to fail at set intervals. What else did we do at West Bend? Listen to the pod to find out.Huge shoutout to Russ Darrow Nissan of West Bend! Their awesomeness got us home. They even called us a few days later to make sure we got home. If you're in the West Bend area and in need of a Nissan, go there. They didn't pay us to write this. There's also a Kittehs in the News segment in this episode, and we briefly touch on the tragedy in Hawaii. If you have the means to help the victims of the fire in Hawaii, here is an article that has information you need to know.
Sorry about that. This was supposed to come out on Tuesday (yesterday). It wasn't edited at that point. What? I got addicted to That 70's Show, and totes forgot to go upstairs and edit it. You would too. So.... Welcome to season four. We had a fairly busy summer. Not as busy as last year that it needed to be divided into three episodes. We did see some concerts, and we did watch a lot of movies, so we'll catch you up.Also, Bonker is doing just fine. He's a good boyeeee! We also give you some organization tips because Melanie is in need of organization skills. I am too.Bonus: This episode contains an EVP!!! A voice we can't explain! It happens during the Indiana Jones review, and is a lower voice right before Justin says something. We think he's talking about the steroid androlics. Maybe the spirit was a body builder and doesn't want us to OD on steroids? This genuinely baffled us!
Okay okay! We missed last week. Sorry! Things happen. You were busy too, admit it.As we approach summer in about three weeks, we're curious as to where the heck springtime is. For most of the northern part of the US, Mother Nature has been on a tirade of nanny nanny boo boo weather. Mother Nature can't get her act together with the weather, but that shouldn't stop you with getting a garden going! In this episode, we're getting anxious too, because it's freaking freezing here Mr. Bigglesworth. Here are some tips as to what you can plant NOW, and things you should do to get a garden going in no time. You probably know all these things, but why not hear them again? This is the final episode before next season starts back up in August. We want to wish you the best of summers imaginable. We hope it eventually gets warm enough to enjoy it here. CBC isn't going anywhere, we just do this every year where we run away and have fun. You should too. We'll come back with all new episodes. As always, keep up with us on Facebook at our group here! If you're an Instagrammer, you can find us on the gram here.We might be doing garden updates, OR, the DXCast might return again this year. We haven't decided yet. Watch this feed!
So you've decided to bring home a new cat huh? You've already got two, but your wife (or husband) has been hounding you for two years to get a third one. Well, that day comes and now what? You've got a scared cat that hates your cats, and you most of all. What did you do wrong? Well, there may be a few things, but you can find out more about introducing a new cat in this episode. Just remember, time likely will heal all with cats! Cats require a lot of time to get used to new environments. This episode concerns our newest addition, Bonker, a male tabby cat we rescued from a bad situation. He did come with some baggage, most notably a bit of food aggression. What is food aggression? Well, if your new cat goes hungry hungry hippos all over its food, it might have food aggression. Not all cats come pre-packaged like this, so your experience may vary. We're on instagram (where you can see Bonker) @thecatboxchroniclesWe're also on Facebook groups (where you can also see Bonker). Search for The Catbox Chronicles, and if you aren't a member, send a request to join and we'll add you. This is the second to last episode before we go on our annual summer break!
Finally. Three episodes later, we discuss the fated Muse concert in late February at the Target Center. Admit it, you were waiting with baited breath for a recap of that night in February, weren't you. Probably not. Anywho, we also saw Styx in the time it took to make this episode. Nah, it was recorded over this past weekend. We're just lazy. Styx was at the Mayo Civic Center in Rochester, Minnesota a couple of weeks ago. Muse was at the Target Center in Minneapolis. Find out about the venues, the bands, the openers who sucked (Hint: its only one that sucked), and how we saw the lead singer of Muse go to a bar before the show. Ok, it wasn't him, but it looked like him.Did Tommy Shaw fly up on stage behind the drummer? Did a giant thing in a mask suck up Muse's drummer Dom Howard? You'll have to tune in to see.Spring is coming folks, just be patient!Follow us on the gram: @thecatboxchroniclesFollow us on the book, by joining The Catbox Chronicles group. Do you agree with us that Evanescence sucks? If so, we can be friends. See you over there!
Ah... the 95th Academy Awards. I bet you didn't watch all three and a half hours did you? Well, to be honest, we can't say we don't blame you if you missed it. Every year, the show runs long, there's always long speeches, music numbers, and questionable activities. So here's our take on the show. We watched it so you don't have to. We list off the winners with some minimal commentary, and you'll get to hear Brendan Fraser and Michelle Yeow's full acceptance speeches. We condense the entire show into a bite sized goodness. Sufficient to say, this was definitely a predictable year for the show, but there were enough surprises in there to make it somewhat entertaining.Jimmy Kimmel did a decent job, and took some much needed jabs at the current situation plus last year's slap heard around the world. Sorry for all of you looking forward to hearing about the Muse concert. We'll get to it eventually. Hopefully this will be the last "movie" related episode for a while, but we make no promises. Full disclosure, since this episode was recorded during the show, it's pretty choppy. Bear with us.
Ok, too many Ts in that Title. Terrific. I'll see myself out. Anyway, two topics today (I can't stop) dealing with particular breeds of cats. What exactly qualifies for a tuxedo cat? Normally, when you picture a tuxedo cat, it's black and white right? Well, you pesky listener, you're missing out on other types. Also, I'm feeling tortitude talking about this episode, because we discuss whether tortitude is real --- or not. I swear it is, but the science is inconclusive. What do those darn scientists know, I've only owned cats my entire life. Also, we have two kitties in the news segments (one is a dog related story). Update: the dog was adopted, but not by Paul Rudd. How disappointing. Also, Tom Brady may be dealing with a bunch of old ladies who are after him, but he's also a cat lover. Who knew?Catbox Chronicles is on instagram and Facebook. Join our group over there on the book for memes and discussion. IN TWO WEEKS: We'll talk about the Oscars, which air on March 12, as well as the Muse concert that was at Target Center.
Well that's over and done with. The weekend that was, or wasn't, or was. I'm confused. This past weekend, we went to downtown St. Paul to catch a monthly event that I had never been to but the Melanie had. Roller Derby!!!What is roller derby? Well, unless you actually go and see it, or you've seen the Elliot Page movie "Whip It" you probably know what it is. Other than that, it's kind of hard to explain without physically witnessing it. See, there's this group of girls right, preventing another group of girls from getting around the track. If one of the groups, called a jammer, escapes that blockage and gets around, she scores a bunch of points. If you're genuinely curious, the Minnesota Roller Derby has a website. But why the episode title? Well, because a certain restaurant in downtown St. Paul shall never be visited ever again, thanks to their inability to operate like a normal restaurant. Details within this episode. Sorry for the rant, but you'd have to have been there understand how frustrating these first world problems really were. Also, we love "The Loon Cafe"!This episode contains a "Doggies in the News" segment too, about a pup that was reunited with its homeless owner, and the shelter went above and beyond to help the owner too!Find us on the gram or on Facbeook!
With award season in full swing, we saw Harry take home the coveted grammy for best album, and Beyonce smash emmy records, but today we're talking about movies (again). This time, we set our sights on what could be considered Brendan Fraser's comeback. The film is known as The Whale, and has already garnered Oscar buzz. Alas, if Brendan wins best actor, he won't be there to celebrate because why should he? After all the crap he's been through, we at CBC don't blame him for not wanting anything to do with award shows. That said, this episode contains MAJOR SPOILERS. You've been forewarned. Don't blame us, it was the one armed man.We also have a kittehs in the news segment related to airline travel. CBC is on Facebook! Search for The Catbox Chronicles and join the discussion. We're also on the gram @thecatboxchronicles.
Every year around January, my brother and I, and now Melanie, tabulate the best movies we've seen from the previous year. We go back and we rate them from worst to best, and usually finalize the list on our website forum. As with last year, we're bringing the same format to the podcast, and counting down the best movies of 2022, in order of worst to first (pun intended for my cousin). Anywho, 2022 was a year of A LOT of movies. I think more films came out this year than last, and we've got a ton. There are three of us, and each of us has a different list. There's also a lot of overlap. On this episode, you'll hear the bottom half of the list. Be sure to listen to the last episode before this because if you jump in here, it won't make any sense. CBC can be found on instagram and Facebook. Search out our group and join in the discussion. Do you agree with us? Disagree? Argue with us over on the book!By the way, this is our 50th episode!!!

Okay campers, this MAY be the final episode of the year. We say that with an asterisk, or *, for short, because it is almost time to be lost in the mess of year ending holidays. So just like last year, we'll be taking a break until January, when it gets super cold, boring, and bleak. Yikes. Well, for most of the country covered in snow it does. All you folks in the tropics and southern US don't know what you're missing. Also, that means Yellowstone season 5 premiered this week. We do a quick recap of season 4, where there was a bunch of Rip going on. This is also time when we do a Kittehs in the News Dump, including a story about a cat born without naughty bits. What? Finally, this episode concludes with tips on how to deal with your obnoxious relatives over the holidays. You know that one uncle you have, who believes we never landed on the moon, or the Earth is flat. Yeah, that dude. How do you deal with him? Listen for tips.Episode topic suggestions are always welcome. You can drop us a line at thecatboxchronicles@gmail.com, or via our facebook group. Find us on the gram too. See yous guys in 2023. Have a happy Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year (you filthy animal).
Do you always feel like somebody's watching you? Well, your name is Rockwell isn't it? Do you leave your curtains open and door unlocked at night? If so, you're one crazy person! On this week's episode of the pod, we tackle the Netflix phenomenon "The Watcher" which is based on a true story. It all happened in Westfield, NJ, at 657 Boulevard. Yes that's the address. 6-5-7-Boulevard. Yikes. First things first, major shoutout to Daisy Eagan and her podcast "Strange and Unexplained".What about the show? How does it end?Who was The Watcher? Why is a 19 year old kid paid $7 grand to install cameras, yet we never see him install one?Who was the scary guy in the tunnel we forgot to mention about?Which episode has a massive continuity error that Justin happened to notice while slightly high on a gummy? So many questions. Watch the show and some of them will be answered.
Well, that's a personal opinion man, but Melanie and Justin count down their favorite 20 scary and/or Halloween movies. We're counting em down! Will Freddy make an appearance? How has Justin not seen Friday the 13th?Which movies did you see coming and which didn't you?Hint: one of these films may have won Best Picture!Word of warning, this episode is heavy on spoilers!Which director has the most films on our lists? Is it not Tim Burton? (yes, its not him).Catbox Chronicles is on the gram... @thecatboxchronicles and Facebook. Search for Catbox Chronicles, join the group, and tell us which Halloween movies you like the most.
Muhahahahaha ha eh h h.... Anyway, what's up Catboxers. Yeah, we took a week off last week. What of it. Suddenly, its October, and you know what that means? Higher electric bills, and snow on Halloween? Yes to both. No, its also spooky season! With that being said, we kick off the month with a look at Hocus Pocus 2, which is on Disney+Almost 30 years in the making, this sequel brings with it much the same entertainment value as the OG film. Except, it doesn't have the original cast, save for the three main witches (Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kathy Najimy) and my favorite character, a dead guy. So don't go into this film with super high expectations. Thora Birch isn't in this film, though she wanted to be.Plus, we go on a long rant about a Karen in Texas who just had to go viral with her opinion that this film will warp your kids minds with spells. Seriously, someone believes this. Only in Texas. Sorry Texas. We love Texas.Sound off on our Instagram @thecatboxchronicles or join us for the discussion over on the Facebook group. Just go on FB, search for Catbox Chronicles, and join the group. That way you can tell us how wrong we are about Hocus Pocus 2. Geez Karen. It's just a movie.
Face it, 'tis the season where our waistlines expand, and before you know it, Jolly Old Saint Nick is going to chastise you for eating all of those Christmas Cookies. If you haven't guessed, today's episode is all about food. Yes, we need foods to survive. But, given it is fall (for most of us), we wondered what some comfort foods you enjoy are. Whether you're into casserole, er... hotdish, or you just like spaghetti... um, now I'm hungry so I forgot where this sentence was going. Also, why do cats and dogs love stealing our seats? Think about it, you get up to eat comfort food and come back to find your pooch or your floof on your spot. There are reasons they love to steal seats, and one of them may be nefarious! Find out some good recipes in this episode -not- brought to you by Better Homes and Gardens. Look at that, we've graduated from cats to food now. This podcast is something else.
Hey look ma I set the stage on fire! Well, at least Panic at the Disco! did in St. Paul, MN during their tour. Our own correspondent Melanie was there, and gives the 411 on the night that was. But that's not all we're talking about on this week's episode. You see, it's the autumnal equinox soon. That's fall! A big season with leaves (it has the juice). I can't imagine a more beautiful thing. I mean look at this cat and/or dog running away because it's fallWhy do animals pick this time of year to run away? There are scientific reasons for this.We also talk about boob-y football games, so you're going to want to hear that.CBC is on the insta, the book, and if you email us @ thecatboxchronicles@gmail.com, we might just do a mailbag episode. So get on that correspondence. Let us know your cat stories, your thoughts on the pod, and anything else on your mind. Send those emails!
Oh ho ho Peggy... My Peggy Su u ue. Yes, we're back from the land of doo-wop. This weekend, your hosts traveled to Clear Lake, Iowa. That's where legend has it that the music died. Well, its not really a legend. It actually happened in 1959. Three of music's biggest stars at the time tragically lost their lives in a plane crash outside of the city. If you're unfamiliar, they're Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and The Big Bopper. We were there for the IGO(Iowa Geocachers Organization)'s Hike and Seek 2022 event. Find out how I almost broke my leg in a culvert.Plus, we've got a kittehs in the news segment from Billings, Montana.Next week, Mel will tell you stories about her concert going experience (again).Catbox Chronicles is on Facebook, Instagram, and available wherever emails are sent to thecatboxchronicles@gmail.com
You get a two-fer this post-Labor-Day-episode. Lots of hyphens. Sheesh. So this week we're talking about how to tell if your cat is really fighting or just joshing another cat. There are tell tale signs cats give off if they're actually fighting. Plus, we're looking forward to FALL 2022 TV!... and movies coming out this fall. Sufficient to say, there are far more good TV shows (we hope) coming out this fall.Avatar 2 comes to mind for movies, as does Brendan Fraiser's opus "The Whale". As for TV, Disney+ will be dumping a ton of content out on us this fall (probably including Avatar 2 at some point). There are also traditional over the air shows we're looking forward to. Find out the deets in this week's episode. As always, we have an instagram, Facebook group, and snail mail - thecatboxchronicles@gmail.com. Send us correspondence and we might do a mailbag episode.
Ugh. It was bound to happen. Two and a half years and two positive tests later, we were laid up with what was likely the omnicron variant of COVID-19 last week. How was it? What was our experiences? Find out in this episode. Sufficient to say, we don't recommend it. Please continue to take precautions with COVID, as it hasn't gone away yet (obviously). Do what you can to not get sick. So what methods work to take care of covid symptoms? Find out in this very episode. Plus we've got 10 facts you may or may not know about cats, and a feel good Kittehs in the News segment to conclude this week's broadcast. We'll try and find a more upbeat topic for the next episode, sorry. It had to be done. We were trying to avoid doing a covid themed episode but it found us. Catbox Chronicles is on instagram, Facebook, and you can send us stories via email - thecatboxchronicles@gmail.com!
So a bit of a blast from the past this week, due to unforeseen circumstances... ugh. Anyway, coming to you then from spring of 2022, this oldie episode was in the can, but just never aired for some reason. It's life hacks and keeping your cat safe outdoors! Face it, some cats love to wander, so wouldn't it be cool if your cat could wander and be safe at the same time? Of course it would. Listen in for how to do it. Plus, we've got some awesome life hacks that help you get through the week easier. I mean who doesn't know how to fold a fitted sheet? Me... I don't. I'm sure youtube can tell me.Catbox Chronicles is on the gram @thecatboxchronicles. OR... you can join us on the facebooks. We have a group to discuss the pod! If you prefer the anonymous snail mail way, email us at thecatboxchronicles@gmail.com. We may read your email on the air on an upcoming episode.Next week, we'll discuss the 'rona. We've been avoiding the topic for 2 1/2 years now, but it's time to give the damn virus the one two punch.
It's freaking freezing in here Mr. Bigglesworth. Or at least it was, way back in June near Duluth, Minnesota. Here is what could potentially be the final part of how we spent our summer vacation, and to tell the tale you gotta go back. You gotta go back two months and two hours north of the Twin Cities to the shores of Lake Superior. Did we find any agates? Maybe. IDK!Plus, this week we have a brand new kittehs in the news segment from Oshkosh Bgosh, Wisconsin.Unfortunately summer is winding down, and sunsets aren't lasting longer than 8 pm as of late, so settle back with a good podcast and enjoy what we have left.Catbox Chronicles can be found on instagram, facebook groups (and pages), and you can send us your stories at thecatboxchronicles@gmail.com. We might even read them on air!
First things first, rest in peace Olivia Newton-John. You are gone way too soon but forever with us. Today's episode discusses the weekend that was! West Bend Cache Ba$h! I think that's how it's written. Yes, the midwest's biggest Geocaching event of the year took place this weekend in West Bend, Wisconsin, and we were there. Find out how the drive went, how hot it can get in a stuffy airbnb, how little sleep we get and how geocaching in 90 degree weather can treat ya!We had a blast at the 14th annual WBCB, and will come back next year. But, next year, we're coming armed with better pillows and a fan, so word of warning to any hotels or AirBnBs. We've got your number.Catbox Chronicles is available on every podcast program you can think of, and most platforms. We're on instagram, facebook, and our rarely used snail mail is thecatboxchronicles@gmail.com. You should drop us a line. It's lonely.
There's a big, big hard sun, beatin' on a big people, in a big hard world. Yes, summer is on its way to wherever summer goes (uh, the southern hemisphere), and that must mean it's time once again for Catbox Chronicles episodes. It's season three!!!! So how did we spend our summer? Well, listen in to find out.On this week's episode we discuss Alanis Morrisette in Concert at the Xcel Energy Center, plus her opener being Garbage... the band not the refuse. Plus, Kittehs in the News tackles a viral video you've probably seen of an invasion of cats coming out of nowhere. That poor guy got overrun. We got a man down!DXCAST is done for the year, considering 2022's season wasn't all that great. It wasn't bad, just wasn't great. If you're confused, check with the sun and listen to previous episodes. It's good to be back.As always, find us on the grams, the Facebooks, and/or email us the snailmail way: thecatboxchronicles@gmail.com.
So it's been a long long while since we've done one o'deez. Yikes. Where did the summer go? It's barely a month old and we're already getting forgetful. Or busy. I'm sure you're busy, what with your mom or dad stuff, and your vacation to exotic fridger-ator. Anyway, we're still here, and DXing is hot. We're deep in skip season. If none of this makes sense, go back and listen to our previous dxcast episodes. So far the month of June has been average. Openings are happening once or twice a week, bringing a modest amount of logs in. Some are doing better than we are. It's no 2021, but we can't ever reach those heights again.Check out our logs this month: http://www.ubstudios.com/dx/tcfm.htmlCatbox Chronicles will return in August.Until then enjoy your pina coladas and getting caught in the rain.
Well hello there, I'm Billy Bob, drivin here on ol' I 7-0 in Richfield, and today's DXCast gives us an update on the first official opening of the season which happened Wednesday of this week. It wasn't all that spectacular. A slew of relogs and only two new logs to the book, both from Missis... Missiip...Mississippi... there we go. So due to the poor showing of the first skip opening, we're going to tackle CB communications, which the terrorists in Diehard used. No, this is full on Convoy stuff. We've got a sample of what "shooting skip" sounds like. Hopefully by next week, we'll have a full blown opening instead of this wimpy stuff. See ya then.
So the second week of skip season brought the first opening, but it was a dud and a half. Only one confirmed log this entire week via skip - WMAW 88.1 Meridian, MS... but the snotty thing about the DX Gods is that they gave me a relog. I've already heard WMAW. I don't need no stinking MAW. Here's hoping that this week, we actually get an opening worth salt. Come on Schwartz, use the schwartz lonestar! We did manage to hear three new stations from Iowa via tropospheric ducting, which is explained in this episode for those who are curious and know who they are.If you're unfamiliar with the DXCast, go listen to the first episode from last week, as it will make more sense before jumping into this one. Here's more about Tropo if you're curious. Here's the log book which includes the audio you'll hear in this episode...and as always, find us on instagram @ thecatboxchronicles and Facebook, where we have a group.
I don't know about you, but Minnesota didn't have a spring. It went right from Sprinter to summer, and in a hurry. Hell, yesterday we had tornado warnings and super lightning. With summer being here, it's time to talk about destinations we've been and places we want to go. If you want to know who to blame for this bonus episode, blame Mel, because I had nothing to do with it. She missed you guys. This episode is a bonus episode. Season 3 will start in August as planned. So, Catboxers... Where have you been? What destinations do you recommend?Shout out about them on our Facebook GroupCheck out our InstagramSend us an old fashioned email: thecatboxchronicles@gmail.comReminder, DXCasts should be coming out every week, if conditions are ripe. Come on DX!
Welcome to the start of the 2022 FMDX season! If you're confused as to exactly what that means, fear not. We'll explain it as time goes on. This is the DXCast, an off shoot of Catbox Chronicles. Because CBC is on a break, we needed to fill the time with more content, so here you go. The DXCast is a weekly update on the condition of the FM band here in Minneapolis, including new captures. Listen within, and find out what this strange hobby is. As luck would have it, the night that this recording happened, folks in the south and central US heard each other. Yes, NC heard TX, and AR heard SC. Go you guys!Find our logs here.Learn more about dxing here.Join the CBC Facebook Group.Find us on instagram!
A few weeks ago, we had a request from our listeners to explain just what in the heck this hobby we talked about in season one was. Geocaching? What in the wide world of sports is that? Well you asked and we answered. This is the season two finale of Catbox Chronicles! What is a TOTT? Better yet, how do I find a geocache and what is it? What if I want to hide one? What are a few things I should know if I want to delve into this hobby that has existed since 2000?Fear not, answers lie within.By the way, we're not going away! This may be our break until August but the feed is going to have activity between now and then. We just can't say when because the season hasn't even started yet, so :p on you. Plus, you can tell us what to talk about by visiting us on the Facebooks, or the gram. You can also snail mail us at thecatboxchronicles@gmail.com
Melanie is joined by friend-o-dah-pod Abbie, and the two discuss the all important topic as to why we're so darn attached to our animals. Seriously, if you ever spend/waste hours on Tiktok, you'll see it. A lot of people have really deep bonds with their pets and it's not something that can be explained away easily. The girls discuss their cats attachments (and Maddie's preferences, because she's a lady that's why) and another curious topic on this episode... why cats make noises when we sneeze near them.Maybe they are mad at us for disturbing the peace. Maybe they're worried. Maybe they just don't care. Well, there's explanations for it... at least we think there are. This is a short and sweet episode, leading up to our season two finale next week. Can you believe we're nearing episode 30. And they say white men can't jump. I mean, they say most pods don't last beyond a few episodes. Well we sure showed them! Follow us on the gram, the book, or if you're in 1995, email us @ thecatboxchronicles@gmail.com. We want to hear from you. Don't make us start calling you the pooper scooper patrol, cause we will!
Oh gosh. You betcha. We're talking the Oscars. The Academy Awards. Hollywood's Big Night! If you didn't watch the show Sunday night, you're not one of the 15.8 million who did. Boy did you miss a show! There were some surprises, and shocks, and even a slap. There was also some cussing, crying, and a lot of technical difficulties. Basically everything a live show is known for. We have two guests on this week's show, my brother Chris and parents from Wyoming, via the Zooms. We break down what happened on Hollywood's big night and why films won the way they did. If you need a recap, choose this one.Follow us on the instagrams, and share your opinion of the Oscars on our Facebook group here. Bad dad jokes aside, now with the RITE OF SPRING coming, mother nature is telling us it is time to get outdoors and grow. Or, at least some of us. If you don't happen to have been blessed with a green thumb, today's episode is for you. We're offering tips for getting a garden going now that the ground is starting to thaw. Also on today's episode, we talk about Journey and Toto, because we done seen them at the X in St. Paul! Hear about Toto messing up their lines and how b to the w Neil Schon is. The guy sure loves what he does. They all do!Plus, we've got a kittehs in the news from Ukraine. Okay folks, spring is right around the corner. That means spring cleaning right? Well if not, it should. It also means we'll be out looking for deals at garage sales soon and putting lots of miles on our cars. That's just me? Shucks. Anyway, clutter in our lives is bad news bears. If you're suffering from hoarding, you're not alone. It's a real life symptom and not just what you see on TV. Millions of us deal with clutter day in and day out and it's doing real damage to our brains. This week we'll talk about why having a dirty house is so bad for you, plus, we talk about why cats love to sleep with us. No, they're not trying to murder us. There are no cat hit squads out there plotting to take you out. As always, find us on the gram, the book, and the email way (thecatboxchronicles@gmail.com). Plus, making this podcast is now costing us money. Help us out by chipping in a few bucks via paypal linked at our podomatic page. We know, you're tired of winter just like we are. In fact, the day this episode goes live, Minnesota is in the process of dealing with a pain in the rear snowstorm that's expected to make a lot of people not happy. But then again, it might make some people super excited because they're crazy snow lovers. For the rest of the country, yes, its still winter up here in the Midwest. The stupid groundhog saw its shadow, and the Rams won the Super bowl. What of it?This week we talk about ways to beat the wintertime blues. Plus, we discuss why cats may become pigs in cat suits and kick their food out of their bowl to eat it. Cats are weird. It's a real thing called Whisker Fatigue. Plus, we've got yet another feel good Kittehs in the news segment about another family reunited with a cat.We now have a Facebook group! Join the discussion over on the book here. Happy post-two-days-after-the-Super-big-game-bowl event! We survived the 56th big game and now that the hangover wore off, we're back with more talk about cats! Specifically, what's up with white cats statistically being deaf? Is this genetic? White kitties must stand up against oppression. Smudge would want them to. And... do cats recognize us, or do they just see us as blobs that give them food and attention? Is your cat purposefully ignoring you because it trusts you, or is it that age old adage that cats are just a-holes?Answers lie within.Plus, we've got a feel good Kittehs in the News this week that is hot off the press. You can follow us on the gram @thecatboxchronicles. Long ago we promised you a look back at what we thought were the best films and television shows of 2021. Well, catboxers, that day is here. 2021 was year two of the stupid pandemic, so going to the movie theaters was still iffy for a lot of people. We went a few times, but we took every precaution to be safe. Anyway, we're going through what we think was the best of movies released last year as well as TV shows we liked, and stuff we didn't care for.Rest assured, 2021 also had its share of stinkers. Primarily, two of them. Normal programming resumes next week and we're upgrading to higher quality and going pro with that episode, so this will be the last one posted in ugly 128 kbps mp3. You can now find us on Facebook groups. Search for Catbox Chronicles and request to join in the discussion. Send us episode topics, or post nasty grams of why you can't stand us. So we're sidestepping the main feed here this week to bring what hopefully will become a regular feature on this podcast, a monthly look at a work of art in music form. We'll pick an album and go through it in its entirety. We'll play samples of it, and critique what we think the album is about and how we feel about it.Enter: Album of the month. This month, we'll pick on Coldplay, who released "Music of the Spheres" in October of 2021. We'll take you through higher power into Coloratura, and recap the entire album. We'll share our thoughts on the songs, and the album itself. For example, did you know the lyrics of Coloratura may directly be interpreted as heaven? No worries about the main feed. We'll be back next week with regular programming. Don't worry, you worry to much. It's gonna be alright. You're only human!

Another episode with the parents! Both of them have worked in nursing homes and both have experience with furry friend visitors and how they help our elderly. My dad even has a ghost story to tell!Today's episode, we ask whether cats (or any animal for that matter) can predict when we're about to kick the bucket. The answer is, well, you'll just have to listen. One thing is for sure, an OG cat somewhere has a record he's holding onto. How do animals know this about us? Also, we've got a kitty in the know that knew about ten years ago that its owner had cancer and saved its life. Kitteh is the champion.Next week on the pod we're going after one of Netflix's greatest threats! We review Cobra Kai season four and spoilers ahoy. Subscribe so you don't miss it. Believe it or not, there are benefits to owning a pet at a young age. Some of us grow up without pets, and if you're like me, you've never known a time without pets. What are those experiences like? Do pets have a benefit for our kids? On this week's episode o the pod, we are joined by special guest Jackie, who's a kick ass nurse at one of the most premiere health facilities in the nation. If you're astute, you might pick out which one. Anyway, she talks about raising a child with a pet, and growing up around all sorts of them. By contrast, Melanie didn't have pets her entire life. Two worlds explain what it's like. Do you believe animals stay with us after they pass? Do animals even have souls? Well... it depends. Some religions believe yes, some say no, some just don't say. Both Mel and Justin believe cats have souls and their spirits can stay behind once they cross the rainbow bridge. We have seen them ourselves.Could it be a figment of our imagination? Maybe. There's a reason this stuff is called paranormal.Anyway, the genesis of this episode came to us after Halloween, sorry. Also, Unsolved Mysteries beat us to the punch but hey, it's a great pod. If you're into spooky stuff and mostly episodes about murders, check them out. Also we have to give a huge shoutout to our friend Daisy Eagan over at Strange and Unexplained Podcast. She's rocking it out of the park. We envy her. Can has her fanbase? Also, this episode features a special guest... my brother Chris!Do you believe in spirits? I'm not gonna sit here and debate! This episode was recorded Monday, as in yesterday! Oh MY!
Today on the pod, we break down more about Hygge, because we didn't quite cover the vastness that the Danish know best. Hygge sounds awesome, and you probably do it more than you think you do. But first, we will answer that important question about cats. Why do certain cats always scratch around their food? Is it because they enjoy annoying you while you're trying to watch Squid Games? Yes, that's the exact reason. As far as Hygge (think of Oogah Chaga), this is the final episode we talk about this, so you better listen if you want some tips.We will be taking a break next week, so don't expect a pod on Tuesday.
