Having a father in the house plays a crucial role in the overall well-being and development of children. The importance of a father's presence goes beyond traditional gender roles and extends to various aspects of a child's life, contributing to their emotional, social, and cognitive growth. Here are some key reasons highlighting the significance of having a father in the household: Emotional Support: Fathers provide a unique form of emotional support that complements the nurturing care typically associated with mothers. Their presence offers a different perspective and a diverse set of coping mechanisms for children. This emotional stability helps children navigate the challenges of life with resilience. Role Modeling: Fathers serve as important role models for their children, especially sons. They exemplify qualities such as responsibility, work ethic, and integrity. Through observation and interaction, children learn valuable life skills and behavioral patterns from their fathers, shaping their own values and beliefs. Discipline and Boundaries: Fathers often contribute to setting boundaries and enforcing discipline within the household. This balance is essential for a child's understanding of rules and consequences, fostering a sense of structure and order that is beneficial for their development. Academic Success: Research suggests that children with involved fathers tend to perform better academically. Fathers often play a role in encouraging learning, providing a supportive environment for intellectual growth, and actively participating in their children's educational pursuits. Social Development: The presence of a father positively influences a child's social development. Interaction with a father figure helps children build social skills, develop healthy relationships, and learn how to navigate social situations. This, in turn, contributes to their overall confidence and emotional intelligence. Gender Identity and Relationships: Fathers contribute significantly to the formation of a child's gender identity. For both boys and girls, having a positive relationship with their father helps shape their understanding of masculinity and femininity, influencing their future relationships and interactions with the opposite gender. Teamwork and Cooperation: A household with both parents encourages teamwork and cooperation. Children raised in such an environment learn the importance of collaboration, compromise, and effective communication, essential skills for success in various aspects of life. Reduced Behavioral Issues: Studies have indicated that the involvement of fathers in parenting is associated with lower rates of behavioral problems and delinquency in children. The emotional stability and guidance provided by fathers contribute to a healthier psychological well-being for their children. In conclusion, the presence of a father in the household is instrumental in shaping the holistic development of children. From emotional support to academic success, fathers play a vital role in providing a stable and nurturing environment. Recognizing and appreciating the unique contributions of fathers in parenting contributes to the overall well-being of families and society as a whole.

Hey it's good to be back home again... especially with what happened during the weekend that was. Our third outing to the West Bend Cache Ba$h in West Bend, Wisconsin was... well, not the charm. Hey, it's not my fault Nissan cars aren't as reliable as Toyota. It IS my fault that my car has over 180,000 miles on it. It's not my fault that alternators are designed to fail at set intervals. What else did we do at West Bend? Listen to the pod to find out.Huge shoutout to Russ Darrow Nissan of West Bend! Their awesomeness got us home. They even called us a few days later to make sure we got home. If you're in the West Bend area and in need of a Nissan, go there. It happens during the Indiana Jones review, and is a lower voice right before Justin says something. We think he's talking about the steroid androlics. Okay okay! We missed last week. Sorry! Things happen. You were busy too, admit it.As we approach summer in about three weeks, we're curious as to where the heck springtime is. For most of the northern part of the US, Mother Nature has been on a tirade of nanny nanny boo boo weather. Mother Nature can't get her act together with the weather, but that shouldn't stop you with getting a garden going! In this episode, we're getting anxious too, because it's freaking freezing here Mr. Bigglesworth. Here are some tips as to what you can plant NOW, and things you should do to get a garden going in no time. You probably know all these things, but why not hear them again? This is the final episode before next season starts back up in August. We want to wish you the best of summers imaginable. We hope it eventually gets warm enough to enjoy it here. CBC isn't going anywhere, we just do this every year where we run away and have fun. You should too. We'll come back with all new episodes. Normally, when you picture a tuxedo cat, it's black and white right? I swear it is, but the science is inconclusive. What do those darn scientists know, I've only owned cats my entire life. Also, we have two kitties in the news segments (one is a dog related story).  Update: the dog was adopted, but not by Paul Rudd. Well that's over and done with. The weekend that was, or wasn't, or was. I'm confused. This past weekend, we went to downtown St. Paul to catch a monthly event that I had never been to but the Melanie had. Roller Derby!!!What is roller derby? Well, unless you actually go and see it, or you've seen the Elliot Page movie "Whip It" you probably know what it is. Other than that, it's kind of hard to explain without physically witnessing it. See, there's this group of girls right, preventing another group of girls from getting around the track. If one of the groups, called a jammer, escapes that blockage and gets around, she scores a bunch of points. If you're genuinely curious, the Minnesota Roller Derby has a website. But why the episode title? Well, because a certain restaurant in downtown St. Paul shall never be visited ever again, thanks to their inability to operate like a normal restaurant. Details within this episode. Sorry for the rant, but you'd have to have been there understand how frustrating these first world problems really were. Also, we love "The Loon Cafe"!This episode contains a "Doggies in the News" segment too, about a pup that was reunited with its homeless owner, and the shelter went above and beyond to help the owner too!Find us on the gram or on Facbeook!

It wasn't all that spectacular. A slew of relogs and only two new logs to the book, both from Missis... Missiip...Mississippi... there we go. So due to the poor showing of the first skip opening, we're going to tackle CB communications, which the terrorists in Diehard used. No, this is full on Convoy stuff. We've got a sample of what "shooting skip" sounds like. Hopefully by next week, we'll have a full blown opening instead of this wimpy stuff. See ya then.

So the second week of skip season brought the first opening, but it was a dud and a half. Only one confirmed log this entire week via skip - WMAW 88.1 Meridian, MS... but the snotty thing about the DX Gods is that they gave me a relog. I've already heard WMAW. I don't need no stinking MAW. Here's hoping that this week, we actually get an opening worth salt. Come on Schwartz, use the schwartz lonestar! We did manage to hear three new stations from Iowa via tropospheric ducting, which is explained in this episode for those who are curious and know who they are.If you're unfamiliar with the DXCast, go listen to the first episode from last week, as it will make more sense before jumping into this one. The girls discuss their cats attachments (and Maddie's preferences, because she's a lady that's why) and another curious topic on this episode... why cats make noises when we sneeze near them.Maybe they are mad at us for disturbing the peace. Maybe they're worried. Maybe they just don't care. Well, there's explanations for it... at least we think there are. This is a short and sweet episode, leading up to our season two finale next week. We can all agree that pranks and April Fools' jokes are invariably god awful and not in the slightest bit funny - but what would you do if it was the Hollywood superstar George Clooney pulling them on you? Ben and Phil put on their best "the actor Richard Kind" masks to explore the comedy back catalogue of The Cloon. But before that, we take time to celebrate Phillip Schofield's birthday and the first ten programmes he ever introduced on Children's BBC from Mike, Mop and The Moke to The Kwicky Koala Show. Plus: authentic American accents, Hanna Barbera's cruelty to animals, teacher beating, bad bumper stickers, cat constipation, the ill-advised american remake of Paddington and an alarming amount more.

We also share the results of a few samples that we did on how various podcasts use ID3 tags. In this week's Better Podcasting Download, we revisit SecondLine Themes' Bolden WordPress theme after a recent experience Stephen had with them (hint: it was totally awesome). In this week's Better Podback we discuss what happened around your world of podcasting this week including those who participated in #DescribeYourPodcastPoorly. Tom Harker, ICD Tom Harker was co-founder of ICD, a company that created many popular add-ons for the Atari 8-bit computers including P:R: Connection, U.S. Doubler, and SpartaDOS. Later, they created several upgrades for the Atari ST and Amiga computers, and the CatBox networking hardware for the Atari Jaguar. According to a 1987 article in Antic magazine, "Tom Harker started ICD in his basement in Rockford, Illinois, with Mike Gustafson, who then lived in Minneapolis. The company was incorporated in 1984, with Harker as president and Gustafson as vice president in charge of development." This interview took place on January 19, 2016. Teaser quote: “It started out, when we did the U.S. Doublers, I was assembling all of those myself and we were baking them in our oven. We potted them in epoxy so people wouldn’t copy it. ... I remember baking them to cure the epoxy in my oven. My wife loved it.” Links Tom’s ICD memorial site: http://www.icd.com Antic Magazine article about ICD: http://www.atarimagazines.com/v5n12/ICD.html
