Here is SHOW #78 - NEW APPROACH for 2024 SHOWS - DIGGER DEEPER in which I have not only changed the topics that I will discuss in these upcoming shows but I have also changed the LOOK of our Podcast shows with a new image that is similar to my 2018 book, "Race and Ethnic Relations on Campus: Understanding, Empowerment, and Solutions for College Students." It is time to get back to the basics of race and ethnic relations and find better SOLUTIONS for all the types of racial and ethnic conflicts that are occurring in our world today. My podcast shows in 2024 will tackle many of the neglected and sensitive racial and ethnic relations issues that are happening from community to community, town to town, city to city, state to state, and country to country. I want to DIVE DEEP into these core issues in the hopes of developing BETTER SOLUTIONS. Since my college students want to discuss these topics in greater depth, I want to provide all of my LISTENERS to these podcast shows more opportunity to not only discuss these sensitive issues but share their SOLUTIONS as well to these issues. I am also REQUESTING more FEEDBACK from listeners of this podcast show. Please feel free to share your issue along with your SOLUTIONS to our podcast. Email me at: ejb678@gmail.com and I may include your comments and solutions on my next 2024 podcast show. Here is SHOW #77 - DEION SANDERS - "PRIME TIME" HAS CHANGED COLLEGE FOOTBALL FOREVER in which I not only discuss the CULTURAL impact of Deion's impact on college football but also his impact on changing race and ethnic relations on college campuses across the United States. Just the fact that Deion Sanders is HeadCoach of a major Division I school - Colorado University - in the Pac 12 and next year in the BIG 12, HeadCoach Deion Sanders is one of FEW Black Head Coaches in the higher level of conferences in college football today. Last week, HeadCoach Sanders took his young and new team of Colorado football team and coaches and beat TCU in one of the most entertaining games to start the college football season. Few so-called sports experts selected the Colorado Buffalos to win this game, but Deion and his players did - in a dramatic and shocking way! In this show, I further highlight how Deion will CHANCE College Football FOREVER primarily because of his message to the athletes today and to the BELIEF that ANYONE can succeed if they TRULY BELIEVE!! After listening to my Podcast show, please send me email and let me know your thoughts at: ejb678@gmail.com. PEACE OUT and WE COMING!!
Here is SHOW #76: CELEBRATING Dr.B.'s SEVEN BLOOMSBURY PUBLISHING BOOKS! In this podcast show, I highlight all of my 7 Bloomsbury Publishing Books starting with my 2018 book - (1) "Race and Ethnic Relations on Campus: Understanding, Empowerment and Solutions for College Students" in which this podcast show is based upon. Now that Bloomsbury Publishing has taken over my previous publisher (ABC-CLIO publishers), my seven books have more of an international and global market. Check out this podcast show in which I give you the INSIGHT and REASONS why I researched and wrote all of my books during the past 23 - 25 years! My other books include: (2) The New Face of America: How the Multiracial, Multiethnic Majority is Changing the United States - 2013, (3) The Cultural Rights Movement: Fulfilling the Promise of Civil Rights for African Americans - 2010, (4) Black America, Body Beautiful: How the African American Image is Changing the Fashion, Fitness, and Other Industries - 2008, (5) Food Choice and Obesity in Black America: Creating a New Cultural Diet - 2006, (6) African American Alternative Medicine: Using Alternative Medicine to Prevent and Control Chronic Diseases - 2002, and (7) Medical Anthropology and African American Health. I hope you LIKE this podcast show and SUBSCRIBE on any of the podcast platforms. As always, PEACE OUT!
Here is SHOW #75: SUPREME COURT RULING on AFFIRMATIVE ACTION in which I discuss the recent decision about the court's ruling and the RAMIFICATIONS that each and every institution must change and adapt their policies in college admissions. Quite frankly, this decision was going to happen and many of us who have been in higher education for decades had a feeling that it was about to happen. Why? In my podcast, I breakdown the reasons why and being a person of color and a professor in academia, "race" will no longer be in the only criteria for evaluating future students into higher education. So now, it is a NEW DAY for higher education institutions, administrators, and directors to start seriously evaluating future students more HOLISTICALLY about their potential to succeed at their respective institutions and NOT simply enroll students just because of their race and trying to be "EQUITABLE" at their institution. If you have a comment or suggestion, please email me at: ejb678@gmail.com. After listening to my podcast, please LIKE and SUBSCRIBE to my podcast too! Indeed, it is a NEW DAY! PEACE OUT!
This is SHOW #74 - "HALLE BAILEY and DISNEY'S LITTLE MERMAID" in which I discuss how this new movie became a GLOBAL BLOCKBUSTER overnight and broke cultural and ethnic barriers all in one UPLIFTING classic movie. In this movie, Halle Bailey plays the role of "Ariel" - a mermaid who wants to become a human and to marry her prince charming - Eric (sailor). The villainess, played by Melissa McCarthy, tries to stop it at all costs. What's so fascinating about this entire movie is that it is LIVE-ACTION, real people playing these roles instead of the ANIMATED 1988 cartoon-characters. Most importantly, it is Halle Bailey who is a woman of color being the BEAUTIFUL MERMAID!! She is stunning and so believable in this role while also making the audience forget that the original role of this mermaid was for a non-person of color. Talk about BREAKING BARRIERS and challenging our MISCONCEPTIONS & STEREOTYPES of lead characters in classic Disney movies, Ms Halle Bailey did it with STYLE, GRACE, BEAUTY, and BRAINS! In this podcast, I go much deeper in my analysis of race and ethnic relations because this CLASSIC DISNEY film helped to put race and ethnic relations on a GLOBAL SCALE with a POSITIVE message! Please send me your comments, thoughts, or suggestions about this podcast show at: ejb678@gmail.com. I look forward to reading your comments and continuing the discussion on race and ethnic relations in 2023!
Here is SHOW #73: MENTAL HEALTH and COLLEGE STUDENTS. In this show, I discuss the serious issues of Mental Health and Mental Illness among college students today. As I have observed over my 35 years of teaching college classes, more and more of my college students are experiencing varying degrees of mental health issues. Whether it is increased anxiety, nervousness, isolationism, or depression, a much larger percentage of my Gen Z college students are experiencing more mental health conditions which may lead to a serious mental illness. In fact, I even share my own mental health issues when I was a college student in the 1970s and 1980s and struggled through some tough issues individually. The major TakeAway from this Podcast show is to: (1) Stay connected with your college student, (2) Listen more intensely to your college student, (3) Encourage more dialogue with your college student, (4) Provide more positive interactions and engagement with your college student, and (5) Reassure your college student that it is okay to seek professional help for your individual mental health situation. If you have a comment, question, or SUGGESTIONS related to this podcast show, please email me at: ejb678@gmail.com. As always, STAY SAFE, STAY CONNECTED, and EXPAND YOUR NETWORK! Peace Out!
Here is SHOW #72: RACE RELATIONS: UNDERSTANDING the IMPACT on YOUR CAREER and LIFE. In this show, I discuss the importance of the concept - Race Relations -- and why it is so important and impactful to today's college students and young professionals. Unfortunately, during the past few years because of COVID-19, many of my college students had to isolate themselves from other students yet this has significantly caused them to NOT RELATE well to other students who do not look like them or have a different history or lifestyle than them. That's why it is critically important for today's college student (after post Covid) to make an EXTRA EFFORT in engaging, interacting, and immersing oneself in another person's culture so he/she can develop the necessary skills in developing POSITIVE race relations now in college BEFORE he/she graduates and live in the REAL WORLD! In this show, I also share my own personal experiences when I was in college at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio during the late 1970s in which I learned how to get along with other students who were completely different than me. It was the best experience for me at the time and I STILL thank my parents for supporting me! If you have a comment about this show, please send me an email at: ejb678@gmail.com. Please LIKE and SUBSCRIBE to the Race and Ethnic Relations Show on your favorite Podcast platform. PEACE OUT!
Here is SHOW #71: ANGELA BASSETT and WAKANDA FOREVER. In this show, I highlight the achievement of the actress and Woman of Color - Angela Bassett - along with the phenomenal new movie - WAKANDA FOREVER - in which was a #1 Blockbuster movie for 4 weeks in a row. The day before I recorded this show, Angela Bassett was NOMINATED by the Academy Awards for BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS for her role in WAKANDA FOREVER!! I therefore felt it was time to RECOGNIZE the phenomenal career of ANGELA BASSETT and what she brings as a person, individual, wife, mother, actress, and woman of color over her decades of work as an actress after graduating from Yale University with her Master of Fine Arts (M.F.A) from Yale School of Drama in 1983! I believe that Angela Bassett along with her Oscar nomination and the movie WAKANDA FOREVER are a CELEBRATION of academic achievement, hard-work, and an appreciation of culture in which ALL of us need in these challenging times of race and ethnic relations. After listening to my podcast show, please send me an email at: ejb678@gmail.com if you agree or disagree. I would truly want to receive your feedback and opinion. As always, take care and LET'S SUPPORT ANGELA BASSETT in getting her OSCAR this year!! If you are with me, send me an email too! PEACE OUT!
- Here is SHOW #70: DEVELOPING SOLUTIONS TO IMPROVE RACE RELATIONS. In this show, I highlight the STRATEGIES that each and every person can use to improve race relations in their community, town, city, neighborhood, college, university, institution, or company. In this episode, first, I commend my outstanding college students for their end of the semester projects in which they are developing new strategies to improve race relations on campus. I am thoroughly pleased with how my college students are passionate about trying to improve race relations and it is showing in their projects. Next, I provide the FRAMEWORK for improving race relations. Finally, I strongly suggest that every person who listens to this podcast can "BE A CHANGE AGENT" to improve race relations in their lives. In fact, I am asking the listening audience to send me an email at: ejb678@gmail.com stating that YOU are going to be THAT CHANGE AGENT! Will you? I believe you can and I believe the time is NOW! Let's ALL OF US BE THAT CHANGE AGENT and effect our world for the GOOD & POSITIVE! Stay Safe and PEACE OUT! Let's do this for 2022, 2023 and BEYOND!!
Here is SHOW #69: POLITICS AND RACE. In this show, I pose the question and suggest that the average citizen still selects a candidate based upon his/her race. Although a majority of us listen and support a candidate based upon their issues, stance on different policies, values, beliefs, agenda, and accomplishments, there is STILL a certain percentage of the reason for WHY we select a candidate and I CONTEND that RACE is a part of that equation. WHAT DO YOU THINK? Please email me at: ejb678@gmail.com. Regardless of your political affiliation -- Democrat, Republican, Independent, Green party or Other -- send me an email and share your perspective. After listening to my podcast, please LIKE or SUBSCRIBE. Final takeaway from this podcast -- PLEASE GO VOTE!! This is a Midterm election so it is very important across the United States! EVERYONE PLEASE VOTE PARTICULARLY COLLEGE STUDENTS!! Peace Out!
Here is SHOW #68: DO YOU FEEL COMFORTABLE EXPRESSING YOUR ETHNICITY OR NOT IN THE U.S. OR ELSEWHERE? In this show, I begin by defining the word "Ethnic Groups" and then provide examples of ethnic groups within our U.S. racial populations. Next, I pose the question to the listening audience -- Since you live in an increasingly racially diverse world and community, DO YOU FEEL COMFORTABLE EXPRESSING YOUR ETHNICITY on a daily basis particularly on college and university campuses across the U.S. and elsewhere? I have had an interesting response from college students but I would like to find out what is the general pattern or preference among my listening audience of this podcast show. Please email me at: ejb678@gmail.com and share with me your experiences or preference. I think this is a very critical question to DIG DEEPER INTO now simply because our universities and colleges are changing rapidly and we need to find out what are the opinions of our college students and those who are NOT college students living in this world and their own individual communities. As I always say, this PODCAST FORUM is for us to connect, engage, discuss, debate and LEARN from each other. Thank you for listening and let's continue to grow together! PEACE OUT!
Here is SHOW #67 - THE RAPIDLY CHANGING RACIAL & ETHNIC DIVERSITY OF OUR STUDENT POPULATION. In this show, I highlight the EXCITEMENT that I feel to see the INCREASED racial and ethnic diversity in my college classes beginning this fall semester! WOW!! This increase in diversity was reflected in the 2020 census for the U.S. population and NOW this INCREASED diversity is showing up in my college classes. My question to the LISTENING AUDIENCE -- Do YOU see this INCREASED racial and ethnic diversity on your college campus? Please send me an email at: ejb678@gmail.com if you do or do not. I would really like to know what is the diversity of your student population now in 2022. I believe there is a DRAMATIC SHIFT in our population and it could be showing up on our college and university campuses this fall semester!! In my opinion, this is a GREAT NEW TREND! PEACE OUT!
Here is SHOW #66 - CELEBRATING 4 YEARS OF RACE & ETHNIC RELATIONS ON CAMPUS BOOK. In this show, I CELEBRATE the publication of my 2018 book entitled, "Race and Ethnic Relations on Campus: Understanding, Empowerment, and Solutions for College Students." It is a book that I am most proud of because so many college students are embracing and taking the time to discuss these serious race and ethnic relations issues. It is an academic topic that still gets overlooked because of the sensitivity of the topics yet it is a topic that TODAY'S college students are desperately wanting to discuss and DEBATE. This book provides the foundation, direction and momentum to take race and ethnic relations issues to a DEEPER LEVEL. In this podcast, I also highlight the chapters and give you the major reasons why I wrote this book some 4 years ago. Interestingly, many of the issues in this book relate directly to events and issues today in 2022 AND beyond! After listening to this CELEBRATORY podcast, send me your thoughts about my book at: baileye@ecu.edu OR ejb678@gmail.com. As always, take the time to get to know others who look different than you so that each and everyone of us can help SOLVE many of the challenging issues related to race and ethnic relations in our communities, our state, our country, and our world! PEACE OUT!
Here is SHOW #65 - HOW ARE INFLATION and OUR U.S. ECONOMY AFFECTING GEN Z COLLEGE STUDENTS TODAY? In this show, I highlight the SERIOUSNESS of our inflation and the state of our U.S. economy upon what it is mentally doing to our GEN Z college students today! It is a very difficult issue to discuss yet many of my GEN Z college students are concerned about how they (individually and their families) can overcome the sky-rocketing costs of gas, foods, supplies, and tuition that is happening to a vast majority of folks this summer and this fall. Not only do I address this issue, I share with the audience my own personal experience when I attended college during the late 70s and the U.S. economy was going through a major inflation as well. In addition, I share a personal story from one of my own college students today and how he is concerned about his GEN Z PEERS and whether they are equipped to deal with REAL WORLD ISSUES TODAY!! You have to listen to this poignant statement from one of my GEN Z COLLEGE STUDENTS. If you have ANY COMMENT or FEEDBACK from this podcast show, PLEASE EMAIL me at: ejb678@gmail.com. You can also SHARE my podcast with your friend or family and SUBSCRIBE on your individual podcast platform. As ALWAYS, STAY SAFE and continue to meet new folks who are different than you. The WORLD will be a better place for it. PEACE OUT!
Here is Show #64 - MY COLLEGE STUDENTS DID A FANTASTIC JOB IN COMING TOGETHER. In this show, I highlight the outstanding and fantastic job that my college students in my Race and Ethnic Relations class at ECU did this past spring semester! I was pleasantly pleased in their interactions, discussions, photos, and frank comments on a number of culturally and societal sensitive issues throughout the entire semester. These students wanted to LEARN from other students who did not look like them and they absorbed it wholeheartedly! Of course, there were disagreements and debates on certain topics yet it was done professionally and with respect. In the end, my students STEPPED UP, CONFRONTED POLITICALLY-SENSITIVE TOPICS and CAME TOGETHER! I believe that's what my class is all about and it gives me HOPE and ASPIRATION that the next set of students will want to DIVE DEEPER into many of these race and ethnic relations issues that they do not get the opportunity to discuss academically in the college years. Please send me an email at: ejb678@gmail.com to share some POSITIVE comments about COMING TOGETHER and SOLUTIONS on how to IMPROVE Race and Ethnic Relations on your college campus or in our communities throughout the U.S.! Have a Great summer and PEACE OUT!
Here is Show #63 - THE BUFFALO AND SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA SHOOTINGS: WHEN WILL IT END? First of all, it is a very sad, sad day and podcast show to actually do. Often, I try to wait to do a show like this because of the respect to the lives lost and families affected by such tragedy. Yet, these two tragedies made me to act and TALK about these issues as opposed to being silent. WE can no longer be silent about these hateful acts against other folks. In this podcast, I provide you some of the details and backstory of the people involved that you may not have heard yet. I also attempt to provide some basic strategies of HEALING and COMING TOGETHER so that these types of events can be reduced in numbers and become more of a rare event or not occur at all. Please send me your heart-felt comments at ejb678@gmail.com Please do not send any hate messages because this is not the platform to do it. Let's all of us find new ways to COME TOGETHER! PEACE OUT!
Here is Show #62 - THE CULTURAL IMPACT of WILL SMITH ASSAULT on CHRIS ROCK at the OSCARS! Yes.... this Hollywood event IMPACTS my college students because often times we talk about Pop Culture and this happens to be one of the most talked about pop cultural event that just happened this past week! The fact that actor Will Smith went on stage and slapped Chris Rock during a GLOBALLY TELEVISED EVENT and got away with it without any retribution during the event and days after was VERY DISTURBING TO WITNESS and SEE AGAIN and AGAIN on all types of media outlets - TV, Instagram, Facebook and Twitter! Most importantly, I felt SADDENED as a BLACK MALE in our society to see this so-called "Hollywood Elite" resort to VIOLENCE after a joke by Chris Rock!!! It was SICKENING and SHAMEFUL! Surprisingly, the only other Black Male who denounced this was Mr. KAREEM ABDUL-JABAAR! I say THANK YOU Kareem and all the other "Brothers" and kind-hearted folks of all backgrounds and faiths to denounce the deplorable assault on another person during a LIVE EVENT! Please listen to my PODCAST and send me your opinion because I'm sure there's many who may disagree with my opinion. Email me at: ejb678@gmail.com. I hope SOMEHOW this PODCAST SHOW reaches Will Smith or his "partners" or "entourage" or "handlers" or "posse" so that he knows that he messed it up for many of us "BROTHERS" who are doing our BEST to keep it REAL and be the ROLE MODELS that many young brothers need in this world today!!! Please LIKE and SUBSCRIBE! Thank you APPLE PODCAST, iHEARTRADIO, GOOGLE PODCASTS, PODBEAN, AMAZON PRIME, and SPOTIFY!
Here is SHOW #61 - "KETANJI BROWN JACKSON: SHOULD SHE BE THE NEXT SUPREME COURT JUSTICE" in which I do a DEEPER-DIVE into who she is, what she stands for, what were her past law rulings, and how she will most likely decide on future supreme court justice issues. Let me say right up front -- YES! YES! YES! This is the first time that I learned about Ketanji Brown Jackson and the research that I did for myself provided me enough information to state clearly that KEYANJI BROWN JACKSON SHOULD BE THE NEXT SUPREME COURT JUSTICE! Please listen to my Podcast show and then you can determine whether you AGREE or DISAGREE with my decision. You can email me at: ejb678@gmail.com. Please also like and SUBSCRIBE to my podcast on all the various platforms such as Podbean, Apple Podcast, Google Play, iHeart Radio, TuneIn, Audible (Amazon Prime), and Spotify! PEACE OUT!
Here is SHOW #60 - "The NFL and the LACK OF BLACK HEAD COACHES" in which I discuss the appalling deficit of Black, African American Head Coaches in the National Football League (NFL) as of today - January 31st, 2022. As of today and the recording of this podcast, there is ONLY 1 Black, African American Headcoach in the NFL! His name is Mike Tomlin of the Pittsburgh Steelers. The two other black headcoaches were FIRED at the end of the 2021 season -- Brian Flores and David Culley. Yes.. there are new black, African American new General Managers being hired in Chicago and Minnesota yet there is still no major INCENTIVE for owners to hire persons of color at the HEADCOACHING position. This is simply WRONG. I love the game of football particularly at the highest level of play among all of these very skilled super athletes yet VERY DISAPPOINTED in 2022 to see only ONE black African American Head Coach in the NFL. What do you think about this situation in a professional sport that makes MILLIONS of dollars every year and one that will celebrate the SUPERBOWL in just a few weeks? Please email me your opinion at: ejb678@gmail.com. Time for the OWNERS and the NFL COMMISSIONER to step up!
Here is SHOW #59 - "COLLEGE STUDENTS WANT MORE SERIOUS & FUN DISCUSSIONS ABOUT RACE & ETHNIC RELATIONS" in which I discuss how my college students in the Race and Ethnic Relations class that I currently teach truly challenged themselves and enjoyed the class! I have been pleasantly SURPRISED how much more information and discussions that they wanted on each and every topic that I brought up in the lectures and the class exercises. I had to realize that many college students DO NOT get this opportunity in our COLLEGES and UNIVERSITIES today so they welcomed this opportunity to DIVE DEEPER into a number of SERIOUS and FUN issues related to race and ethnic relations in their lives TODAY. This is also my FINAL SHOW of the YEAR and I wanted to THANK ALL OF MY COLLEGE STUDENTS who have taken this class over the years and hopefully it has helped them too! Finally, I want to thank my BOOK PUBLISHER - ABC-CLIO and now BLOOMSBURY Publishing for publishing my 2018 book - Race and Ethnic Relations on Campus: Understanding, Empowerment, and Solutions for College Students. PEACE BE WITH ALL OF YOU in 2022!
Here is SHOW #58 - "RACE AND ANTI-VAX ATHLETES: AARON RODGERS AND KYRIE IRVING." In this show, I call-out SUPERSTAR athletes -- Aaron Rodgers (NFL - Packers Quarterback) and Kyrie Irving (NBA - Brooklyn Nets Guard) because of their stance against getting VACCINATED! Yes, I called BOTH of them OUT! Why? They are employees of a Professional team sport (NFL and NBA) which REQUIRES all players to adhere to certain RULES and REGULATIONS as being a player on a TEAM that is OWNED by owner(s) who must adhere to the LAWS of the STATE, CITY, and COUNTY in which it resides. Secondly, I respect individual rights HOWEVER they are on a TEAM with TEAMMATES of all different values, religious values, traditions, and histories. So they should RESPECT their other teammates. Finally, COVID-19 is a SERIOUS, DEADLY INFECTIOUS DISEASE which is killing thousands of needless people just because they are NOT VACCINATED. I am a SUPPORTER OF THE COVID-19 VACCINES and I see their individual stance as a "JEOPARDY" to our CONTINUAL EXISTENCE in this world. After listening to this podcast show, please send me YOUR OPINION whether you AGREE or DISAGREE - ejb678@gmail.com.
Here is SHOW 57 - "RACISM IN THE NFL - THE JON GRUDEN FALLOUT." In this show, I discuss the surprising resignation of Headcoach Jon Gruden of the Las Vegas Raiders due to some newly published emails which showed his racist, homophobic and misogynistic language. Once these emails were published by the New York Times, it was just a matter of time before something had to happen to him. I also discuss in this show that his behavior and language has been tolerated for quite some time in the NFL and now the league is trying to change the CULTURE of those who talk, communicate and interact in this manner. It is my opinion that this issue will be further addressed in the off-season of the NFL and this may just be the tip of the iceberg because so many folks, organizations, and businesses may be involved. STAY TUNED. Please check out this entire Podcast Show because it definitely is another tough one to address yet IT IS ABOUT TIME! Send me an email at: ejb678@gmail.com if you agree or disagree! Look forward to your feedback.
Here is SHOW #56 - "20TH ANNIVERSARY OF 911." This is one of the toughest podcast shows that I have done to date. Initially, I was very hesitant to do this show yet as I saw all the special memorials this morning in New York City (Twin Towers site), Pennsylvania, and Arlington, VA (Pentagon site) for the victims of 911, I remembered EXACTLY what I was doing when these tragic events happened on September 11, 2001! I'm sure you remember too where you were when you heard the news! In 2001, I was a Federal employee working for the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland and living in the metropolitan area of Washington, DC -- our nations Capitol with my wife and three young kids. In this podcast, I share my personal feelings on what it was like to live through this event as a young professional working for the federal government in Washington, DC! It was scary, uneasy, tense, yet a sense of PRIDE working for the government and the people of the United States. There was no doubt at that time in 2001, lots of folks of all backgrounds worked harder to get along at least at my federal job at NIH and in the community my family and l lived - Frederick, Maryland! My PRAYERS and THOUGHTS goes to all the LIVES LOST during these tragic events. In addition, this podcast is for all the younger listeners and COLLEGE STUDENTS who were too young to experience it or who were not born yet. It is time for ALL OF US to GET ALONG TOGETHER again! Peace Out!
Here is Show #55 - "VACCINATED vs ANTI-VAX FOLKS: IS THIS THE END OF OUR EXISTENCE?" In this show, I discuss the major CONFRONTATION that is happening in our society today because of the UPSURGE of COVID-19 cases and deaths throughout the U.S. and globally! When the vaccines were initially distributed, many medical and public health officials including our U.S. President ASSUMED that it would only take a few months for majority of the U.S. citizens to get the vaccine. HOWEVER, there are THOUSANDS of folks who are NOT taking the vaccine and they are the ANTI-VAX group who are not participating and not getting their shots for a number of reasons. These ANTI-VAX folks are causing the UPSURGE of COVID-19 CASES and DEATHS and now we are BACK to where this COVID-19 PANDEMIC started a year and half ago! In my opinion, this is about HUMAN RIGHTS, SOCIAL JUSTICE, MEDICAL RESPONSIBILITY, HUMAN RESPONSIBILITY, LIFE EXPECTANCY, AND FUTURE EXISTENCE OF OUR HUMAN SPECIES. It is that important. What do you think and I seriously would like to receive responses from the Vaccinated folks and most importantly the ANTI-VAX folks. Please email me at: ejb678@gmail.com PEACE OUT, PROTECT YOURSELF, and STAY SAFE! WE ARE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER!
Here is Show #54 - "RACE AND THE TOKYO OLYMPICS." In this show, I discuss my observations about the initial broadcasting of the Tokyo Olympics on the NBC Television network. First of all, I really enjoy seeing all the thousands of athletes from all the countries around the world competing in so many athletic events. It is truly a CELEBRATION of athleticism on an international and global scale. Second, I truly appreciate how our American athletes are doing their best to represent our country in these Tokyo Olympics. Shout out to NAOMI OSAKA for lighting the torch to start the Tokyo Olympics! WOW! Yet I am CONCERNED when the NBC television network has struggled to show DIVERSITY in its sports broadcasting of sporting events such as the Olympics. Thanks to Mike Tirico and now Maria Taylor (newly hired) to show the DIVERSITY of broadcasting these sporting events on a national basis to our American audience. Wow!! Why did it take so long? What's your opinion? Just check out the Tokyo Olympics for the next 2 weeks and let me know your opinion. Send me your thoughts at: ejb678@gmail.com . PEACE OUT and ENJOY THE TOKYO OLYMPICS!
Here is Show #53 - "VIN DIESEL - MIXED RACE ICON AND INFLUENCER." In this show, I provide you with a little bit of Vin Diesel rise to megastardome by talking about his early history as an actor struggling to get work and then eventually getting the role into more mainstream movies such as THE FAST AND FURIOUS!! Now, the FAST AND FURIOUS movies are a FRANCHISE MOVIE BLOCK BUSTER in which this weekend F9 - Fast and Furious 9 is coming out!! This is a 20 year franchise movie genre in which Vin Diesel is NOW accepted as a ICON and INFLUENCER in so many other genres. So let's CELEBRATE Vin Diesel's accomplishments and commitment to always recognizing his roots and where he came from!!! I also highlighted Vin Diesel in my 2013 book - "THE NEW FACE OF AMERICA: HOW THE EMERGING MULTIRACIAL, MULTIETHNIC MAJORITY IS CHANGING THE UNITED STATES" in which I projected that Vin Diesel would become one of the major CROSSOVER BIRACIAL, MULTIRACIAL CELEBRITY of our times! What do you think? Send me an email at ejb678@gmail.com It's time to enjoy the summer and let me know what you think about his new Fast & Furious Movie 9!! HAVE FUN DURING THE SUMMER and PEACE OUT!
Here is SHOW #52 - "JUNETEENTH - A NEW FEDERAL HOLIDAY." This show CELEBRATES our new Federal Holiday -- Juneteenth! On June 17th, 2021, President Joe Biden made Juneteenth a federal holiday so that ALL AMERICANS can have the day off to remember, reflect, and CELEBRATE the actual FREEDOM which happened to African Americans. It was June 19th, 1865 when the last enslaved Black people received news from Union soldiers in Galveston, Texas about FREEDOM for all blacks. This was two and half years after the Emancipation Proclamation freeing slaves in the Southern States. In this podcast, I highlight the history and pose the question that this should be a MAJOR CELEBRATION like the Mardi Gras of New Orleans in which there could be floats, parties, and events where all folks of all backgrounds CELEBRATE. This is a JOYOUS new FEDERAL HOLIDAY which celebrates all Americans rights, liberty and FREEDOM! What do you think? Send me an email at: ejb678@gmail.com .
Here is SHOW #51 - "GEORGE FLOYD - ONE YEAR LATER." This show recognizes the ONE YEAR anniversary of the tragic event that killed George Floyd in Minneapolis, Minnesota in which a police officer - Derek Chauvin -- apprehended and placed his knee on George Floyd neck too long and caused this tragedy to happen. I reflect on how our country -- the United States -- responded back in May 2020 and all the major race and ethnic relations events during the past year. Basically, I feel at this moment that ALL OF US need a commitment to CHANGE and IMPROVE our relations with people who do not look like you. My question from the podcast show is HOW HAVE WE ALL CHANGED since George Floyd's tragic death? Please share with me your thoughts at: ejb678@gmail.com . PEACE OUT EVERYONE and LET'S REALLY MOVE FORWARD.
Here is SHOW #50 - "HUMAN RIGHTS and SOCIAL JUSTICE ROUNDTABLE on RACISM AND SOCIAL INJUSTICE AROUND THE WORLD." This was a special Roundtable discussion by the Human Rights and Social Justice Committee of the Society for Applied Anthropology (SfAA) meeting held on March 24, 2021. Here is Show #49 - "RACISM AND VIOLENCE TOWARDS ASIAN AMERICAN" of the Race and Ethnic Relations on Campus Podcast Show. Unfortunately, I have to talk about the TRAGIC events that recently happened in Atlanta, Georgia in which eight individuals -- six of whom were Asian American women -- were killed by a lone gunman. Not only do I talk about this tragedy, but also take a DEEPER DIVE into how this situation affects ALL of US in different ways whether personally, group-wise, politically, socially, and mentally. There is no doubt that there is much hatred, violence and misconceptions still throughout our U.S. and even our President and Vice President cannot stop this trend against Asian Americans unless ALL OF US STAND UP AGAINST IT and BE PRO-ACTIVE and TAKE ACTION against all forms of this belief and behavior. Please take the time to listen to my heart-felt, personal and professional show. Feel free to email me (ejb678@gmail.com) and share your personal situations or strategies to overcome these types of events.
Here is Show #48 - "RACE AND VACCINATIONS FOR COVID-19" of the Race and Ethnic Relations on Campus Podcast Show. In this show, I discuss the "POLITICALIZATION" and "MORAL ETHICS" of the distribution of the new vaccines for COVID-19 throughout our United States. Data shows that the most vulnerable populations and segments of our population who have LOST THEIR LIVES due to COVID-19 are: (1) High risk folks with serious health and medical conditions, (2) Elderly, (3) Underserved, low-income, rural, inner-city, and densely-populated communities, and (4) RACIAL & ETHNIC POPULATIONS such as African Americans, Hispanic/Latinos, American Indians & Alaskan Natives, and Asian Americans & Pacific Islanders. HOWEVER, now that the vaccines are being distributed throughout the U.S., those who are ACTUALLY receiving the vaccines are NOT THOSE SEGMENTS OF OUR POPULATION!! Hummmm.. Why is this happening now in 2021? Well, I share a few of my thoughts in this CONTROVERSIAL show as a REMINDER to our LEADERSHIP in our country, state, and institutions!! Please don't forget about REGULAR FOLKS in our country! Please share your comments with me at: ejb678@gmail.com. STAY SAFE and PEACE OUT!

In this show, I highlight the major observations and THEMES from President Joe Biden's Inauguration speech. The recognition of Kamala Harris as the FIRST African American and Southeast Asian women to hold the office of Vice President. There were a number of dignitaries at the event as well. Yet, the one person who SURPRISED everyone was Amanda Gorman - Youth Poet Laurete - who gave a resounding poem and speech which connected to many college students and the rest of the country. Send me an email at: ejb678@gmail.com and let me know what you thought about President Biden's Inauguration speech and all the other events happening during this SPECIAL DAY in the United States.

With all the various political, social, racial and economic issues happening today, I wondered how Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. react to these issues particularly after he fought and died for so many issues of civil rights for ALL PEOPLE. So please take a moment to LISTEN to this podcast and send me YOUR PERSPECTIVE too at: ejb678@gmail.com. This is the time to slow down and do some serious THINKING about race and ethnic relations in our country and then follow up with POSITIVE ACTION! PEACE OUT!

In this show, I talk about the outcome of the presidential election and the Acceptance Speeches from Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. Now that our country has gone through a major presidential election and elections in so many senatorial and house of representatives contests along with all the local elections, WHAT'S GOING TO HAPPEN next in our country? The acceptance speeches made many Americans "FEEL GOOD" yet it is already time to ask what is REALLY going to happen with regards to IMPROVING RACE & ETHNIC RELATIONS in our country. Here is SHOW #42 - "PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE II - BIDEN vs TRUMP" of the Race and Ethnic Relations on Campus Podcast Show. In this show, I discuss the SECOND debate between Biden vs Trump and where the topic of "RACE" was discussed between the two candidates. Overall, the moderator did an excellent job in keeping both candidates on topic and she actually had RACE discussed TWICE in this debate. However, the topic of "RACE" was still NOT A PRIORITY among the candidates and it was very interesting how THEY responded to it when "Race" the issue! AMAZING!!! Again, please listen to my Podcast and REPLAY the second PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE back yourself and ask yourself a simple question -- "Are you REALLY satisfied as to how our PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES talk about RACE in AMERICA today in 2020!!! Here is SHOW #41 - "VICE PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE - HARRIS vs PENCE" of the Race and Ethnic Relations on Campus Podcast Show. In this show, I discuss the one and only Vice Presidential Debate between Kamala Harris and Mike Pence. This is the first time that our country has had an African American woman running for Vice President! This was a very special moment in history! Yet, surprisingly the topic of RACE was not a major debate topic. In fact, the topic of race was LESS important in this debate than the Presidential Debate. Why is that? Hummm. In this podcast show, I tell you the reason why and it is DISAPPOINTING! This podcast show is for all of my college students because I want them and the general public to know the topics discussed during our Vice Presidential Debate. So check out this podcast show and send me an email at: ejb678@gmail.com . PEACE OUT!

There were NINE MAJOR TOPICS discussed during this debate and RACE was one of them!! Wow! So please check out this very lively and informative podcast show and let me know what YOU thought about the major topics! Send me an email at: ejb678@gmail.com . PEACE OUT!
Here is SHOW #39 - "YOUR VOTE MAKES A DIFFERENCE" of the Race and Ethnic Relations on Campus Podcast Show. In this show, I discuss the importance of college students VOTE particularly during the national and presidential election year. I also discuss when I voted for the first time as a Freshman student at the age of 18 in college and it was EMPOWERING! So if you BELIEVE in yourself and want to make a CHANGE or keep things the SAME, go out and VOTE! The power of the 18-24yr age voting block is very powerful on the local level, state level and the national level. So again, YOUR VOTE MAKES A DIFFERENCE! Here is SHOW #38 - "ENOUGH!" of the Race and Ethnic Relations on Campus Podcast Show. In this show, I talk about the latest shooting of African American males by police officers -- JACOB BLAKE. In the wake of this incident, I also highlight the George Floyd tragic shooting at the beginning of the summer. In the midst of all the SHOCK by the African American community and others, I focus on the WORDS of Jacob Blake's mother! She is a phenomenal mother who shares WORDS OF WISDOM and CALMNESS in this troubling times. I also talk about my COLLEGE STUDENTS beginning the new academic year and ready to do their part to STOP the HATE, STOP the SHOOTINGS and time for ACTION. If you agree or disagree with my opinions, please send me an email at: ejb678@gmail.com. PEACE OUT FOLKS and STAY CALM!

This is Show #37 - Race and Ethnic Relations on Campus - PUSHBACK in which I discuss what happens oftentimes to many African American professionals who attempt to create new activities or programs at their institution. For some reason throughout my academic professional career, I received PUSHBACK from the administration and peers when I attempted to create something new and move beyond my basic responsibilities as a professor. WHY does this occur? Humm... Well, I discuss this MAJOR ISSUE and give you my PERSPECTIVE as to the reasons why! After listening to this podcast show, send me an email at: ejb678@gmail.com and let me know if this has happened to you or others! PEACE OUT!
This is Show #36 - Race and Ethnic Relations on Campus - COLLEGE STUDENTS: WHAT TO EXPECT FROM ACADEMIA IN 2020-2021 in which I discuss how colleges and universities will respond to the tragic events that happened this spring & summer. Now that a majority of colleges and universities have made their institutions' STATEMENT against racism, discrimination and injustice, there will more than likely be new PROGRAMS, INITIATIVES, COLLEGE COURSES, WEBINARS, DISCUSSION GROUPS, COMMITTEES, and OFFICES developed to address these issues for college students this upcoming academic year of 2020-2021. This is a GOOD THING! Yet, I also encourage all colleges and universities to follow through and continue their new initiatives and INSTITUTIONALIZE them into their system so that future college students will also benefit. After listening to this podcast, I would TRULY like to hear from College Students across the U.S. and share with me the new initiatives that are being planned at your particular college and/or university. Email me at: ejb678@gmail.com. IT'S TIME FOR ACTION!
This is Show #35 - Race and Ethnic Relations on Campus - BLACK RAGE - WAKE UP AMERICA - PART II - in which I discuss the events that has happened AFTER the tragic death of George Floyd and how MAINSTREAM AMERICA responded! First, it is good that many institutions, organizations, associations, societies, departments and committees responded in a WRITTEN STATEMENT against racism, hate and discrimination against underrepresented groups in America. However, these statements tended to be POLITICALLY CORRECT STATEMENTS which included all groups which have received discriminatory behavior and actions. From my perspective, we may have lost sight of the real issue ALREADY!! From the folks who I have spoken with during the past couple of weeks, we are looking for CHANGE OF BEHAVIOR, BELIEFS, UNDERSTANDING AND "HEART" from Mainstream America!! Are YOU "Mainstream America" willing and READY to change your HEART in understanding what an African American male - "Black Male" has had to endure in our THE UNITED STATES! That is the BASIC ISSUE!! So check out my VERY PERSONAL PODCAST if you want to hear from this very PROUD African American male in 2020!! Send your comments to: ejb678@gmail.com or baileye@ecu.edu. LET'S DEVELOP SOME NEW POLICIES AND SOLUTIONS FOLKS!!
This is Show #34 - Race and Ethnic Relations on Campus - BLACK RAGE - WAKE UP AMERICA! - in which I discuss the TRAGIC death of George Floyd who died while being arrested by police officers in Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota just a few days ago. This event was also caught on video from several sources primarily through cell phones from passerby citizens and concerned citizens that witness this event. This is by far the MOST DISTURBING event that I witness on video in which this African American man was brutally treated and loss his life. The events after his death has UNFORTUNATELY enraged the African American community not only in Minneapolis but in major cities across the U.S.. My purpose of conducting this PODCAST SHOW is to LOOK FOR JUSTICE, SHORT-TERM AND LONG-TERM PEACEFUL SOLUTIONS and a BETTER UNDERSTANDING of the MULTITUDE of issues affecting the African American community and all other communities who are different than mainstream America! It's TIME FOR AMERICA TO WAKE UP!! Please send me your SUGGESTIONS for SOLUTIONS at ejb@678@gmail.com
This is Show #33 - Race and Ethnic Relations on Campus - RACE - SHOULD WE GET RID OF IT? - in which I discuss the possibility that our society should consider getting rid of our U.S. racial categories COMPLETELY! Since many of my college and university students are no longer making RACE a major issue with their friends and classmates at college, then why should scholars, researchers, administrators and the GENERAL PUBLIC still use RACE as a marker for which group an individual belongs to! So I pose the question to my PODCAST AUDIENCE -- SHOULD WE GET RID OF OUR RACIAL CATEGORIES and CAN YOU IMAGINE OUR WORLD WITHOUT THE CONCEPT of "RACE?" Please send me your thoughts, opinions and suggestions at ejb678@gmail.com. It is 2020 and it's time to take a NEW DIRECTION in our WORLD and maybe this is the START!! THINK ABOUT IT!!
This is Show #32 - Race and Ethnic Relations on Campus - How College Students Can Solve Race and Ethnic Relations Issues - in which I discuss how my current college students in my class have developed some very insightful, engaging and innovative SOLUTIONS for improving race and ethnic relations on our campus! In fact, when students realize in our class that their ideals will be appreciated and potentially implemented in our university initiatives, they actually develop some remarkable solutions. This podcast show encourages MORE student development on all college campus in solving their individual race and ethnic relations issues and incidents. If you AGREE or DISAGREE or even if you have your own SOLUTION, email me at: ejb678@gmail.com. This is Show #31 - Race and Ethnic Relations on Campus - Challenging Our Politically Correct Society - in which I discuss the problems in which our politically correct society today places upon our college students today! A majority of my college students feel constrained during class discussions because they are uncertain as to what they can say in class. In order to move my students FORWARD, I encourage them to share their individual perspective in a respectful yet HONEST way so that we can challenge our current political correctness particularly as it relates to race and ethnic relations. After review of this podcast show, please share me your professional opinion by emailing me at: ejb678@gmail.com . This is NOT A POLITICALLY CORRECT SHOW but an HONEST SHOW about improving race and ethnic relations on college campuses.
This is Show #30 - Race and Ethnic Relations on Campus - Why I Wrote this Book - in which I discuss the major reasons that inspired me to write this book on race and ethnic relations among today's college students. Unfortunately, over the recent years in teaching college classes, I noticed that many of my students were not taking any effort in getting to know other students who happened to look different than them. That concerned me immensely. Most importantly, since our colleges and universities are increasingly becoming DIVERSE and our DIVERSE NOW, it is important to find ways to get all of our students to come together. Finally, now since we ALL are going through the Coronavirus/COVID-19 stay at home period, we are realizing that ALL OF US ARE IN THE SAME BOAT and WE MUST GET ALONG! So if you want to hear my comments about these topics, please listen to this VERY SPECIAL MILESTONE PODCAST SHOW and send me an email at: ejb678@gmail.com or baileye@ecu.edu. The time is NOW to COME TOGETHER.
This is Show #29 - Race and Ethnic Relations on Campus - Coronavirus Pandemic and College Students - PART II in which I discuss how we (Faculty, Administrators, Staff and College students) are adjusting and adapting to our new reality. That new reality is that our college and university must place ALL content and job activities ONLINE and VIRTUAL FORMAT because our Federal, State and Local governments stated that we must keep SOCIAL DISTANCING pattern and NOT meet in large groups of 10 or more. Therefore, all industries including HIGHER EDUCATION must go into this HOLDING-PATTERN and deliver services to all students DIFFERENTLY. Fortunately, a majority of my classes were already online. Yet how are a majority of college students across the United States adjusting to their particular college and university situation. For all COLLEGE STUDENTS LISTENING TO THIS PODCAST, Please email at: ejb678@gmail.com or baileye@ecu.edu and let me know how YOUR college and university is making the adjustment! THANKS!
