132 Lifting Each Other Up: Why I Created the Sanity-Saver Certificates

Play Episode Listen Later Aug 21, 2024 10:50

Hey there! It's been a while since you have heard from me. I have been very busy with family obligations, caring for a 90-year-old mother with dementia, and just creating a lot of programs and things behind the scenes. While I've been showing up online in written form and in video form, I have not created a podcast in quite a while. So this was the first one in a while, and I wanted to make sure that I shared this one with you so that you would have an understanding of what I have been working on behind the scenes. As you know, I am a wellness and retention strategist, an executive coach for Black and Brown women, and an AI integration specialist for small businesses. In my role, I work with Black and Brown women, as well as companies and organizations, to try to identify, well-being programs that will help our Black and Brown women excel in the workplace regardless of what's going on in their lives. So I wanted to share with you a blog that I wrote.Actually, it's my newsletter on LinkedIn. If you're not currently subscribed to the newsletter, you will want to do so so that you don't miss out!Today's newsletter was titled Lifting Each Other Up: Why I Created the Sanity Saver Certificates. So maybe you don't even know what the Sanity-Saver Certificates™are. Let me share that with you…So in my quiet time, quiet time from the podcast, I have been working on creating the Corporate She-Roes Collection™. It is a collection of different certificates. There will be 5 different collections of certificates that will honor the unsung heroes in the corporate space. The things that Black and Brown women do every day but don't get recognition for. These are things that we talk to each other about, right? So when we're having a bad day, either our work bestie will give us these kudos, in the hallway or if we're having to go to lunch together, go for a walk, even when we're just running to the bathroom. They see us in the bathroom, they see our sad look, they ask what's wrong, then they give us these titles for being these ‘superheroes' in the workplace.I decided instead of it just instead of it just being 1 on 1 with me and my clients or me and my besties – my work besties and my, you know, lifetime besties – instead of us just supporting each other and doing it on a smaller scale, I decided to create these certificates, the Corporate She-Roes Collection™, and start with the Sanity-Saver Certificates™. Because if there is one thing that we need as Black and Brown women in the workplace, it is definitely some encouragement, our kudos. We need to get our flowers while we're still living. We need to understand and know that we're being appreciated.I'd like to share with you today, the newsletter Lifting Each Other Up: Why I Created the Sanity-Saver Certificates.See you inside…What You Learn:All about the Corporate She-Roes Collection™ and the Sanity-Saver Certificates™That being a Black or Brown woman in the corporate world can feel like a constant uphill battleThe power of taking the time to recognize the contributions of Black and Brown women in the workplaceWhat's next for me and the podcast… stay tuned!Featured on the Show:Click HERE to download your copy of the Sanity-Saver Certificates™ and explore...

No matter what road you set out for transformation, whether mental, physical, emotional, or spiritual, it always “hurts” initially. If your goal was to release unwanted pounds, the workouts, the changes in your diet, the juicing/smoothies, and intermittent fasting were uncomfortable initially. But, once you overcame the discomfort, it became easier to do, and you could begin to see the results. You hit plateaus along the way, but you pushed through to reach your desired goal. The same is true when you embark upon the journey of being a leader whose Black and Brown employees see as an ally. In case you didn't know, you do not get to call yourself an ally; Black and Brown people must see and “feel” you operating as one.In the beginning, this is so hard to hear; I understand that. It's like hearing your significant other, or your children tell you that your actions to show your love and care have hurt them instead. You had great intentions; it made YOU feel good to do your part in the relationship, as a parent, to give them what you thought they needed or what you understood their request to be, only to end up being wrong.Who would want to hear this?Join me inside the episode as I share with you the importance of understanding why being comfortable in your discomfort is what is needed in order to be an ally. What You Learn:The importance of being comfortable with discomfort, and how it's needed in being a true allyAwareness is the first step in healing, and in this case, the first step to becoming an ally recognized by the people you set out to helpSome sources to help you check out your unconscious bias and do better moving forwardThe fastest way to begin to identify whether or not you are presenting to your Black and Brown employees the way you want toFeatured on the Show:Check out 14 Unintentionally Racist Things White People Do, as referenced in the videosTake the Harvard University Implicit Bias Test, and start your journey todayFollow this link to check out the coaching programs I offer and see what works best for youCheck out my newsletter titled “Did You Know” on LinkedIn which covers Leadership and Personal Development Topics for Women, teaching you how to lead confidently and consciously using practical and spiritual concepts.Begin your healing journey by joining the Relationship Architect Academy and find the support you need today!Get on the Waitlist for my upcoming community for healing and supporting my Black and Brown sisters!Reach out to me on our Contact PageLearn more about how you can work directly with meLove the show? For Women's History Month, this year, I decided to focus on ways in which everyday women can make history for themselves. So I will be sharing with you and on social media, different quotes by women of color, powerful women of color, and my take on what that quote means to me and how it applied to my life.Just thinking about this… if you only knew the many “failures” I've had, you would ask the same question my Metaphysician asked me when I appeared on her doorstep many years ago, and that question was…“How on EARTH are you still standing!?!?!”Today's quote is…“You will be wounded many times in your life. You'll make mistakes. Some people will call themselves failures, but I have learned that failure is really God's way of saying excuse me, you're moving in the wrong direction. It's just an experience, just an experience.”And that quote is by Oprah Winfrey. So tune into the episode as I share with you what that quote means to me and how you can apply it in your life.See you inside…What You Learn:How I'm choosing to celebrate Women's History Month this yearA quote that really inspired me, and how it can inspire you as wellHow to reframe your thinking around your bad experiences, and how they can shape you for the betterThe best way to reach out to me for support – I'm here for you, Sis!Featured on the Show:Check out my newsletter titled “Did You Know” on LinkedIn which covers Leadership and Personal Development Topics for Women, teaching you how to lead confidently and consciously using practical and spiritual concepts.Begin your healing journey by joining the Relationship Architect Academy and find the support you need today!Get on the Waitlist for my upcoming community for healing and supporting my Black and Brown sisters!Reach out to me on our Contact PageLearn more about how you can work directly with meLove the show? There is something about speaking to an audience of Black and Brown women about the effects of corporate/workplace trauma that “hits different.”We understand and can support each other without saying a word. Those facial expressions that say, “girrrrlllll, mmm hmmmm, I know that's right, for real though,” make one feel seen, heard, and understood.I had the pleasure of hosting a Masterclass this past week at the Flourish Media Conference in Miami, Florida, on “How to Heal from Corporate Trauma for Black and Brown Women,” which fed my soul. The original layout for the masterclass was changed, but when you not only know your material but have lived it every day, you can shift on a dime, and that is precisely what happened.Instead of being able to “take it to the wall” like I usually do, we stayed in the main assembly and had a “sister-to-sister” bonding moment.Did it work?See you in the episode to find out…What You Learn:My recent experience at the Flourish Media Conference, and how it was soul cleansingTrauma does exist personally and professionally… whether you like it or notThat if you've suffered corporate trauma, specifically when it comes to poor DEI training, you are not alone!A powerful way to be an effective DEI leader, even if you're not a person of colorFeatured on the Show:Check out my newsletter titled “Did You Know” on LinkedIn which covers Leadership and Personal Development Topics for Women, teaching you how to lead confidently and consciously using practical and spiritual concepts.Begin your healing journey by joining the Relationship Architect Academy and find the support you need today!Get on the Waitlist for my upcoming community for healing and supporting my Black and Brown sisters!Reach out to me on our Contact PageLearn more about how you can work directly with meLove the show?
