Mood: quick and light, encouraging, self development, interactive Who are you? Don't answer with your job title or what you do. You can't say where you work. Who you're related to. Where you went to school. What clubs you're in. So again… who are you? This seems obvious, but often, we don't really know. Join Dominique for a handful of minutes (the duration of a commercial break if you listen on 2x!) and get a little mini coaching session on figuring out who you are, becoming more secure, and having a rock solid sense of self. In true Dominique fashion, she figured this out by making a PowerPoint presentation (for herself), so she has some tips on that as well. Mood: spiritual, cosmic, manifestation, self development Today, January 11 (1/11 or 11/1, depending on where you live and how you write dates!) is the “111 portal.” You may have seen some advice on TikTok about manifesting and calling in what you want on this energetically charged day, but our master astrologer, celestial teacher, spiritual hygiene expert, numerologist, and moon mama Shannon Aganza is here with some DIFFERENT advice. Yes, manifesting is coming… but we need to check on some other things first! This is our first episode diving into the world of numerology. To figure out your personal number (based on your birth date and year) and your personal YEAR number (which changes yearly on your birthday, and provides you a theme for your year!), we have some materials below. Consider this your episode guide, and have your numbers ready and in the back of your mind! CALCULATING YOUR PERSONAL NUMBER AND PERSONAL YEAR NUMBER Personal number numerology: Add the individual digits of your birth date together (for example, Jan 1, 2000 would be 1+1+2+0+0+0 = 4) If you're left with a double digit number, add those digits together — UNLESS (!!) it's an 11, 22, 33, 44, etc. (for example, September 29, 1980 would be 9+2+9+1+9+8+0 = 38, 3+8 = 11 ; August 21, 1991 would be 8+2+1+1+9+9+1 = 31, 3+1 = 4) Personal YEAR number: Now, use your birthday without the year, and add in the year of your most recent birthday. For instance, it's January 2024 now, but if your birthday is in March, use 2023 to calculate which year you're currently in (this will change on your birthday this year). March 1, 2023 would be 3+1+2+0+2+3 = 11 year. You'll change in 2024, on your birthday, to 3+1+2+0+2+4 = 12, 1+2= 3 (3 year). Shannon's big lessons for today's numerology (11!) and 2024 at large (8)... Find a mantra or word for your energy this year “What do I need to feel whole without the addition of something outside of myself?” Moving into balance within a world of polarity Do money and possessions own YOU? What's your relationship with money and possessions and materials? Turn your energy inward for better, more conscious manifestation energy Self accept, don't overthink Step into receptive energy (soft girl life!) Mood: validating, personal development, reflective, fun What do you want to be when you ‘grow up'? Here's a fun concept: you don't have to just be one thing your whole life. Your style may change, your preferences may change, your appearance may change, your interests and passions and hobbies and careers… you get it. You have your own ERAS. Different life chapters. Seasons. You can live a dynamic life! As Oscar Wilde once said, “If you want to be a grocer, or a general, or a politician, or a judge, you will invariably become it; that is your punishment. If you never know what you want to be, if you live what some might call the dynamic life but what I will call the artistic life, if each day you are unsure of who you are and what you know you will never become anything, and that is your reward.” Confidence and Mindset Coach Jenny Gaither, Creator of Brave Babe Glow Up, joins us for a chat about our personal evolution, our personal “Eras Tour.” What era are you in? Are you leveling up, glowing up, evolving? Jenny tells us, “life is a progressive glow up.” And if you're ready for a new era, a new glow up, a personal evolution… whether you're quitting your job, leaving a relationship, moving to a new country, or simply cutting your hair or changing your clothes… let us (Jenny) help! She walks us through the “anatomy of a glow up” and a Glow Up 101 (take notes!). Get ready for your best era yet… and a validating chat about not knowing what you want to be for the rest of your life (it's a good thing, we promise).

Mood: therapy, mental health focused, upbeat, validating WELCOME BACK! It's been a (longer than anticipated) minute since we've last chatted, but This Is Fine! Podcast is back in action after Dominique moved to Paris (salut de la France, tout le monde!). Perhaps over this past summer (and start to autumn) you felt a little bit of FOMO, or got jealous of someone's vacation updates on TikTok and Instagram. Maybe you haven't gotten promoted yet, or saw that everyone in your age group has begun to buy a house. Have you gone to one too many baby showers and thought, this is not where I thought I'd be at [age redacted] years old?! Don't worry, we called the therapist for you. Dr. Kevin Gilliland, PsyD, our trusted on-call (literally) clinical psychologist is here to talk about the BS of the ‘societal timeline' (the milestones you're ‘supposed' to meet, and when)... plus the idea of FOMO, comparison, and searching for what we really want in life. Sound good? Prepare for some validation. You can find more of Dr. Gilliland on his podcast, Struggle Well, Live Well, Worry Less (on Spotify and Apple), and our own episodes 27, 24 and 2. Mood: personal, silly, chill Guest host Cheyenne Arnold is back to give another look into the mind of your host, Dominique. Mood: insane, niche luxury, mental health Niche Luxury Hot Girl queen mother @CarolineMStern from TikTok (hot girl anthropologist) has quickly become your favorite guest on the show, so team TIF has officially invited her to be a part of the team, bringing you regular NLHG updates. Today's download includes the standard “things Niche Luxury Hot Girls are loving” and ends with a mental health state of the union. In between? Insanity. Summer trends, net bags, almond moms, robot oracles, the history of cola, and sleep paralysis demons.
Mood: personal, inspiring, self development Sober curious? So was Cheyenne. After a health scare and some reflecting on habits and life goals, Dominique's bff (who you may remember from episode 9!) decided to cut booze from the equation. She's sharing her journey with alcohol and how its removal from her life has changed everything for the better. Whether you're considering being “California sober,” reducing your alcohol intake, or needing to quit cold turkey, this is a personal and inspiring account from someone who's literally doing it live. — If you're struggling with alcohol dependency or addiction, and you need immediate help, you can call or text the SAMHSA hotline (text 988 if you're in crisis): 1-800-662-HELP (4357). It's free and confidential; they're available 24/7, 365-days-a-year, and they provide treatment referral and information services (in English and Spanish).
Mood: pep talk, mental health, how-to, positive coaching Stressed, anxious, depressed, overwhelmed? Going through it? Having a rough go of it, in a tough season of life? Maybe this is NOT fine?! Same, girl. We all go through cycles like this, when it feels like everything is falling apart, or we're in a funk we just can't shake off. But managing stress and anxiety can feel as overwhelming as the stress itself sometimes! In today's quick chat, Dominique talks through some mental health strategies for resetting your nervous system and breaking out of a negative mindset ("chilling the f*ck out 101"). If you're in need of some positive coaching, validation, and tools for dealing with anxiety and depression, you've come to the right place. Welcome home.

If you've ever wondered what that's like (first off, do you need a therapist) then today's episode is for you! Brett shares his experience navigating a scary life-or-death moment, plus his thoughts on healthcare, medical expenses (and how to get out of some!), and of course, The Smart Fit Method workouts.
Mood: astrology, mystic, educational Do you know what the astrology houses are? We learned about the Moon signs in episode 6, and the rising signs (ascendant) in episode 15… now you'll want to learn the houses. The houses in astrology will help you finally understand your horoscope and your natal chart. Our astrologer queen Shannon joins us yet again for another foundational lesson in astrology. We're walking through the 12 zodiac houses, including what they represent, and which areas of your life fit into which houses. Ready to learn more from Shannon? Her MoonGathering courses, Astrology Foundations 1 and 2 start soon. Use our eXcLuSiVe community code to get a sweet, sweet discount: code THISISFINE at moongathering.thinkific.com will get you 25% off an astrology course with Shannon! What's your chart ruler? (mentioned at 00:18:50) We talked about how to find your chart ruler, and locate the house where the planet falls. To do this, first find your ascendant zodiac sign, and use the key below to find out what planet your chart ruler is. For example, Taurus rising has Venus as the chart ruler. ♈️Aries – Mars ♉️Taurus – Venus ♊️Gemini – Mercury ♋️Cancer – Moon ♌️Leo – Sun ♍️Virgo – Mercury ♎️Libra – Venus ♏️Scorpio – Mars ♐️Sagittarius – Jupiter ♑️Capricorn – Saturn ♒️Aquarius – Saturn ♓️Pisces – Jupiter Once you've got the planet, find where that planet is in your natal chart. So if you were Taurus rising, you'd now look at where Venus is in your own birth chart… what Zodiac sign and what house. That's your chart ruler! (ie, Venus in Taurus, 1st house… lucky you!)

Sara Sas, L.Ac, a licensed acupuncturist and herbalist, began learning about herbology decades ago when she was a paramedic (and disappointed with the American healthcare system). Discovering the beautiful, ancient practice of TCM, she took to the system of medicinal plants, fungi, and minerals — and today, it's an integral part of her healing practice. Sara sat down with us at TIF! to give us an herbology 101 crash course, complete with ways herbs and Traditional Chinese Medicine can treat anything from anxiety to pain to hormonal imbalances to chronic disease. Ready to get your own custom herbal regimen? If you'd like to schedule a virtual (telemedicine) appointment with Sara, schedule at beautypointbypoint.com using the code THISISFINE to get $20 (or call Sara and tell her you heard this podcast!).

Mood: crazy story, empowering, health advocacy, mental health chat Picture this: you're on a road trip to Harry Potter World with your sister, and suddenly a semi truck launches your car into a median — you think the hospital will diagnose you with a concussion, but instead they find a brain tumor. “Accidentally finding a brain tumor on the way to Harry Potter World” wasn't on Avery Bredesen's 2022 bingo card, but her world (real world, not wizarding) got rocked this past September. Avery shares her too-crazy-to-make-up story with Dominique in this special edition of Trauma Hour, including her road to recovery post brain surgery, and her experience with getting diagnosed with ADHD as an adult (which is more common for women than you'd think!). If you've ever wondered what it's like to get brain surgery, or are looking for some morsels of life advice from someone who has, this episode's for you. AND, if you've been questioning potential ADHD symptoms — especially if you're a woman! — you won't want to miss that segment. Learn along with us, feel some validation, and join us for another session of Trauma Hour. Cheers!

Mood: saucy, travel-inspired, personal, silly, happy hour vibes Meet the REAL Emily… or should we say, Emilies (plural!)… in Paris: Amanda Rollins (@americanfille) and Morgan Hizar (@bisousmorgan). Two Americans who left their chilly hometowns (in New England and the midwest, respectively) and went to Paris searching for a fresh start and a romantic life. One's a francophile, one's never taken a single French class, both start their journeys as au pairs. Fast forward five years, and they've got a Netflix-worthy story under their Sézane belts. Amanda and Morgan join Dominique for a chat about their recent TikTok about what gives them “the ick” when dating French guys (spoiler alert, cigarettes are a big turn off), what they love (hello, romance!), and the biggest cultural differences between living in Paris and the US. If you're considering making the move to join the expat community in France, this is the episode for you! And even if you have no intention of ever moving to Paris, you'll enjoy this spicy, sassy peek behind the curtain of culture, fun, what it's like to be an American in Paris, and reasons to visit the city of light. -- Bonus: if you're ready to transform your skin with Liv at TheWildFox.co holistic skincare, use code THISISFINE at checkout, or tell her you're a listener when you book your facial!

Jenny offers some of her coaching strategies to help us all grow and develop more self trust. Mood: wellness, education, learning something cool Welcome to the world of TCM — traditional Chinese medicine — including acupuncture, herbology (yes, like Harry Potter, but REAL!), gua sha, cupping, tongue diagnosis, yin and yang, elements, and more. Licensed acupuncturist and face reader Sara Sas, L.Ac. of Beauty Point By Point in La Jolla, CA, guides us through an educational-yet-accessible introduction to this ancient, fascinating world of wellness. With her ‘western' medicine background (she was an EMT!) and ‘eastern' specialization, she is able to see how the two worlds work together — and help patients heal themselves. Sara explains the benefits of Chinese medicine, the modalities available for treatment, and why this might work better for you than allopathic treatment (or, at least, in conjunction with it). Listen to this episode, then go get yourself booked for an appointment!
Mood: therapy, mental health focused, upbeat, how-to Our therapist is back for another “session” — Dr. Kevin Gilliland, PsyD (who you'll remember from episodes 2 and 24) joins us to discuss New Year's resolutions and how to be happier in 2023. With mental health resolution suggestions, happiness tips, and some shocking stats about news/media and our mental wellbeing, this is a must-listen to kick off the new year. At the very least, you'll learn (at a minimum) three things you can do to support your mental health. Some things you'll hear… ★ Resolution suggestions like a social media detox, reset, and re-curation of your feed (or hard reboot with new accounts) ★ How 10 minutes of media a day is as bad (or worse than) an abusive relationship for our mental health ★ How a gratitude practice can be the foundation of your resolutions and mental health goals this year ★ How prioritizing your happiness and healing can improve life for everyone else Hear here: Listen to Dominique's New Year's resolution primer here Support This Is Fine! on Patreon — patreon.com/thisisfinepodcast *this episode is not a substitute for actual therapy, nor is it medical advice!
