A good God must destroy evil.   The Greek philosopher Epicurus (342-271 BC) claimed that the existence of evil proved there is no God. ·       He claimed that if God cannot stop evil then he is not all-powerful (omnipotent). ·       He then argued that if God can prevent evil but does not, then God is not good. ·       He linked these two points together, claiming that if God is all-powerful and good, then evil would not exist. ·       Finally, human experience is that evil does exist. Therefore Epicurus concluded that God must not exist.   2) The REAL culprits.   ·       SATAN   “1Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the Lord God had made. Readings for the 14th Sunday in Ordinary Time - 2 Corinthians 12:7-10, Mark 6:1-6So often it seems we struggle against those parts of us of which we are ashamed. We pretend. We hide behind masks. And in doing so, we refuse to open ourselves to the gift of grace that God and those around us are waiting to share with us. Life is not meant to be lived in perfection. We are not created that way. But to the extent that we attempt to live in that space, we choose to live a life in illusion. God invites us elsewhere - a place of truth where in accepting our vulnerabilities and imperfections, we find grace and true love. Let Freedom Ring Part 3: Free to Live By Faith By Louie Marsh, 6-16-2024   Believing the Gospel means two things:   1)  I must choose one of two ways to live.   “1O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you? Before your very eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed as crucified. 2I would like to learn just one thing from you: Did you receive the Spirit by works of the law, or by hearing with faith?” (Galatians 3:1–2, BSB)   ·       Law – PERFORMANCE for acceptance   ·       The Spirit – living by the SPIRIT'S power   Let's explore this – choosing to walk by the Spirit is a lot like this - We admitted we were powerless over our addiction - that our lives had become unmanageable.   2) If I choose to live by faith then…   ·       I need to learn to work in the SPIRIT.   “3Are you so foolish? After starting in the Spirit, are you now finishing in the flesh? 4Have you suffered so much for nothing, if it really was for nothing? 5Does God lavish His Spirit on you and work miracles among you because you practice the law, or because you hear and believe?” (Galatians 3:3–5, BSB)   ·       UNDERSTAND that God has always worked this way.   “6So also, “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.” 7Understand, then, that those who have faith are sons of Abraham. 8The Scripture foresaw that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, and foretold the gospel to Abraham: “All nations will be blessed through you.” 9So those who have faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith.” (Galatians 3:6–9, BSB)   ·       NEVER FORGET the results of this choice!   “10All who rely on works of the law are under a curse. For it is written: “Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law.” 11Now it is clear that no one is justified before God by the law, because, “The righteous will live by faith.” 12The law, however, is not based on faith; on the contrary, “The man who does these things will live by them.” 13Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us. For it is written: “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree.” 14He redeemed us in order that the blessing promised to Abraham would come to the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit.” (Galatians 3:10–14, BSB)   o   Living by Law brings spiritual DEATH!     o   Living by faith brings God's PROMISE.     PUT MY FAITH in Jesus who is the promised blessing!   “15Brothers, let me put this in human terms. Even a human covenant, once it is ratified, cannot be canceled or amended. 16The promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. The Scripture does not say, “and to seeds,” meaning many, but “and to your seed,” meaning One, who is Christ. 17What I mean is this: The law that came 430 years later does not revoke the covenant previously established by God, so as to nullify the promise. 18For if the inheritance depends on the law, then it no longer depends on a promise; but God freely granted it to Abraham through a promise.” (Galatians 3:15–18, BSB)

Awakening to Hope 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 May 26th 1 Corinthians 15:1-3 1Let me now remind you, dear brothers and sisters, of the Good News I preached to you before. You welcomed it then, and you still stand firm in it. 2It is this Good News that saves you if you continue to believe the message I told you—unless, of course, you believed something that was never true in the first place. 3I passed on to you what was most important and what had also been passed on to me. Christ died for our sins, just as the Scriptures said. 4He was buried, and he was raised from the dead on the third day, just as the Scriptures said. 1 Peter 1:3-7 The Hope of Eternal Life 3All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is by his great mercy that we have been born again, because God raised Jesus Christ from the dead. Now we live with great expectation, 4and we have a priceless inheritance—an inheritance that is kept in heaven for you, pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay. 5And through your faith, God is protecting you by his power until you receive this salvation, which is ready to be revealed on the last day for all to see. 6So be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you must endure many trials for a little while. 7These trials will show that your faith is genuine. Our hope: · You have been born again · You get to live with great expectation · You have a priceless inheritance · There is wonderful joy ahead · The trails you face show your faith is genuine · Strong faith through many trails will bring much praise, glory, & honor on the day Jesus is revealed to the world How do we encourage one another? · God's protection is over your life through your faith · God himself will come down from heaven · Your trials here on earth will bring much praise, glory, & honor · You will be with the Lord forever John 14:1-3 1 “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God ; believe also in me. 2My Father's house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? 3And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. 4You know the way to the place where I am going.” Our task is to live as resurrection people 1 Peter 1:13 So prepare your minds for action and exercise self-control. Put all your hope in the gracious salvation that will come to you when Jesus Christ is revealed to the world. The promise of the bible is that we get Jesus and he will be more than enough, no matter what we're going through. Philippians 4:8 And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. 1 Corinthians 15:58 So, my dear brothers, and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless. Paul's charge: Encourage One Another

Jesus Empowers The Twelve: Casting Out Demons, Healing Diseases, And Preaching The Kingdom Of God! Luke 9 Jesus Sends Out the Twelve Disciples One day Jesus called together his twelve disciples and gave them power and authority to cast out all demons and to heal all diseases. 2Then he sent them out to tell everyone about the Kingdom of God and to heal the sick. 3“Take nothing for your journey,” he instructed them. “Don't take a walking stick, a traveler's bag, food, money, or even a change of clothes. 4Wherever you go, stay in the same house until you leave town. 5And if a town refuses to welcome you, shake its dust from your feet as you leave to show that you have abandoned those people to their fate.” 6So they began their circuit of the villages, preaching the Good News and healing the sick. The Lame Beggar Healed: Acts 3:1-10 Now Peter and John were going up to the temple at the hour of prayer, the ninth hour. And a man lame from birth was being carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple that is called the Beautiful Gate to ask alms of those entering the temple. Seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple, he asked to receive alms. And Peter directed his gaze at him, as did John, and said, "Look at us." And he fixed his attention on them, expecting to receive something from them. But Peter said, "I have no silver and gold, but what I do have I give to you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk!" And he took him by the right hand and raised him up, and immediately his feet and ankles were made strong. And leaping up he stood and began to walk, and entered the temple with them, walking and leaping and praising God. And all the people saw him walking and praising God, and recognized him as the one who sat at the Beautiful Gate of the temple, asking for alms. And they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him. Many Signs and Wonders Done: Acts 5:12-16 Now many signs and wonders were regularly done among the people by the hands of the apostles. And they were all together in Solomon's Portico. None of the rest dared join them, but the people held them in high esteem. And more than ever believers were added to the Lord, multitudes of both men and women, so that they even carried out the sick into the streets and laid them on cots and mats, that as Peter came by at least his shadow might fall on some of them. The people also gathered from the towns around Jerusalem, bringing the sick and those afflicted with unclean spirits, and they were all healed. Philip Proclaims Christ in Samaria: Acts 8:4-8 Now those who were scattered went about preaching the word. Philip went down to the city of Samaria and proclaimed to them the Christ. And the crowds with one accord paid attention to what was being said by Philip when they heard him and saw the signs that he did. For unclean spirits, crying out with a loud voice, came out of many who had them, and many who were paralyzed or lame were healed. 8 So there was much joy in that city.

Jonah Flees the Presence of theLord 1Now the word of theLordcame toJonah the son of Amittai, saying,2Arise, go toNineveh, thatgreat city, and call out against it,for their evil[a]has come up before me.3But Jonahrose to flee toTarshish from the presence of theLord. They were yours, and you gave them to me, and they have kept your word. 7Now they know that everything you have given me is from you; 8for the words that you gave to me I have given to them, and they have received them and know in truth that I came from you; and they have believed that you sent me. 9I am asking on their behalf; I am not asking on behalf of the world, but on behalf of those whom you gave me, because they are yours. 10All mine are yours, and yours are mine; and I have been glorified in them. 11And now I am no longer in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to you. Shall this fellow come into my house?” 1David departed from there and escaped to the cave of Adullam. And when his brothers and all his father's house heard it, they went down there to him. 2And everyone who was in distress, and everyone who was in debt, and everyone who was bitter in soul,a gathered to him. And he became commander over them. And there were with him about four hundred men. 3And David went from there to Mizpeh of Moab. And he said to the king of Moab, “Please let my father and my mother stayb with you, till I know what God will do for me.” 4And he left them with the king of Moab, and they stayed with him all the time that David was in the stronghold. 5Then the prophet Gad said to David, “Do not remain in the stronghold; depart, and go into the land of Judah.” So David departed and went into the forest of Hereth.

In a world that tells us to live our way, our truth, and our life the way that we want to, we find that all this ever leads to is emptiness and a lack a fulfillment. Jesus says in John 14:6:"Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." - John 14:6So how do we follow Jesus today? The same way the disciples did long ago.They heard the words of Jesus and believed them. They took His words and obeyed them. They confessed their sins to Jesus as their Lord and God. They believed that He died to take the punishment of their sins and rose from the dead to give them new life. They followed His example and command to tell others the truth about sin, righteousness, and judgment. When we follow Him in “the way,” we can be assured of following Him all the way to heaven.

Psalm 23 TPT - 1Yahweh is my best friend and my shepherd. I always have more than enough. 2He offers a resting place for me in his luxurious love. His tracks take me to an oasis of peace near the quiet brook of bliss. 3That's where he restores and revives my life. Sermon Notes - May 8, 2022Acts: The Church -Jesus' Return - Grant Hickman Isaiah 1:26I will reestablish honest judges as in former times, wise advisers as in earlier days. Then you will be called, ‘The Just City, Faithful Town.'” Joel 2:28…I will pour out my Spirit upon all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy. Your old men will dream dreams, and your young men will see visions. In those days I will pour out my Spirit even on servants—men and women alike. Acts 1:3To the same apostles also, after his suffering, he presented himself alive with many convincing proofs. He was seen by them over a forty-day period and spoke about matters concerning the kingdom of God. Acts 1:4While he was with them, he declared, “Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait there for what my Father promised, which you heard about from me. Acts 1:5For John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.” Acts 1:6So when the apostles were with Jesus, they kept asking him, “Lord, has the time come for you to free Israel and restore our kingdom?” Acts 1:7He replied, “The Father alone has the authority to set those dates and times, and they are not for you to know. 1 Thessalonians 5:1Now concerning how and when all this will happen, dear brothers and sisters, we don't really need to write you.Acts 1:8But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

6So when they had come together, they asked him, Lord,will you at this timerestore the kingdom to Israel?7He said to them,It is not for you to knowtimes or seasons that the Father has fixed by his own authority.8But you will receivepowerwhen the Holy Spirit has come upon you, andyou will bemy witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea andSamaria, andto the end of the earth.9And when he had said these things, as they were looking on,he was lifted up, anda cloud took him out of their sight.10And while they were gazing into heaven as he went, behold,twomen stood by them inwhite robes,11and said,Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into heaven? This Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven,willcome in the same way as you saw him go into heaven.

He entered Jericho and was passing through.2And behold, there was a man named Zacchaeus. He was a chief tax collector and was rich.3Andhe was seeking to see who Jesus was, but on account of the crowd he could not, because he was small in stature.4So he ran on ahead and climbed up intoa sycamore tree to see him, for he was about to pass that way.5And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up and said to him,Zacchaeus, hurry and come down, forI must stay at your house today.6So he hurried and came down andreceived him joyfully.7And when they saw it, they allgrumbled, He has gone in to be the guest of a man who is a sinner.8And Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, Behold, Lord, the half of my goodsI give to the poor. And if I havedefrauded anyone of anything, I restore itfourfold.9And Jesus said to him,Today salvation has come to this house, sincehe also is a son of Abraham.10Forthe Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.

Today it's just me, sharing my heart on keeping in step with your spouse in your marriage. “ The Couple that plays together stays together”. This is not just some cute quote that rhymes, there is truth behind it! Life can get busy and marriage can sometimes start to look more like a roommate situation than a soulmate situation. the Bible has taught us and we have seen how in our marriage when we prioritize time together and enjoy similar pastimes that despite life's constant changes we stay anchored together. I hope this episode encourages you to pursue hanging out with your spouse and making your marriage a priority. I pray this helps you thrive in and not just survive your marriage! In Matthew 19:4-6 Jesus says: And He answered and said to them, “Have you not read that He who made them at the beginning ‘made them male and female,' 5and said, ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh'? 6So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate.” In marriage we were meant to bind together and become one! Additionally we are called to serve pretty much everyone and yet our spouses often get the short end of the stick. We can make efforts to participate and enjoy the things our spouse does, this is one great way to serve them!
