It's episode 250 of the Cryptid Creator Corner podcast and we got a good one for you today. Breakout comics writer Murewa Ayodele joins me to talk about two of his projects, Akogun: Brutalizer of the Gods from Oni Press co-created with friend and artist Dotun Akande and Storm, everyone's favorite elemental omega mutant in an solo ongoing series with artist Lucas Werneck for Marvel that relaunches the X-Men franchise as a part of the larger From the Ashes storyline this fall. We get into what the local comics scene looks like there in Nigeria, some of what makes up his comics DNA as a writer (spoiler Samurai Jack among other things,) and how a background in software engineering can be applied to writing comics. It's a fantastic chat that gave me an opportunity to dust off my minimal Yoruba skills from university days, hopefully I pulled it off. Murewa is such a positive and open person. It was a true pleasure to talk with him. From Oni Press In an age thought forgotten . . . when man, monster, and the divine all strode the Earth . . . a lone warrior emerges to test the immortality of the cruel gods who would deal destruction with impunity . . . He is a one-man reckoning that stands in defiance of his divine masters with a sword in hand and a thirst for godblood. His name: AKOGUN THE BRUTALIZER! In the tradition of Robert E. Howard's Conan the Barbarian, Stan Lee and Jack Kirby's Thor, and the best-selling God of War franchise, superstars-in-the-making Murewa Ayodele and Dotun Akande—the creative duo behind I Am Iron Man and Moon Knight: Black, White & Blood—usher in a new epoch of African dark fantasy on the ancient continent of Alkebulan with a mythic cycle of cosmic destiny and unrelenting warfare colliding man against god . . . and blade against blade! Told across three powerful oversize bi-monthly chapters, steady your mind and spirit for a glorious new comics milestone revealing the fabled origin and battle-tested fury of . . . She's been a thief, a goddess, an X-Man, a queen and now an Avenger!                  Questioning Identity Labels and their Underlying Implications            In this episode we will address the color terms used to describe different nationalities. Are these derogatory terms or proper terms? Where did these terms come from and who coined the phrase "Black People"DescriptionDo we ever question the labels we use to define ourselves? Let's embark on a journey that pushes the boundaries of our own perceptions. We're not just talking about identity – we're dissecting it, challenging it, and daring to redefine it. We tackle the term "black" and ask if it diminishes the achievements of our community. We even consider how labels like "Irish," "Italian," and "Cuban" might carry a deeper cultural resonance. And before we dive too deep, we lighten the mood with a humorous take on "white" and "black" as nationalities, courtesy of an unwitting game show contestant. But we're not stopping there. We're delving into the heart of identity, scrutinizing the implications of reducing individuals to a mere color. Does the term "black people" truly encapsulate the complexity of our identities? With a small detour to the origins of the continent of Africa, we aim to provoke thought and encourage dialogue. Join the conversation, share your views, let's explore this together – not just for us, but for the richness of our shared histories and the future of our identities.Blog PostIdentity and ethnicity are significant aspects of our lives. They influence our perceptions of ourselves and others, shape our experiences, and are instrumental in our understanding of the world around us. In this podcast episode, we take a deep dive into these two intertwined elements, challenging the labels we use and questioning their underlying implications. We explore the significance of labeling ethnicities and the terms we use to define ourselves. The term "black," for instance, is frequently used to describe our race. However, the host, Hulse O'GiGo, argues that this term downplays the achievements and contributions of our community. He suggests that terms like Irish, Italian, or Cuban carry more respect and meaning. This perspective, which aims to stimulate a re-evaluation of our perceptions, is supplemented with a clip by Muhammad Ali discussing the same topic.Interestingly, the conversation also touches on the use of the terms "white" and "black" as nationalities, with a humorous response from a game show contestant thrown in for good measure. The discourse aims to encourage listeners to share their opinions on this matter, inviting an open dialogue that values diversity of thought.Next, we delve into the meaning of identity and terminology. The host expresses discomfort with reducing individuals to a color and suggests that terms like Cuban, Puerto Rican, and Italian hold more cultural significance. He also introduces an intriguing point about the existence of an original name for the continent of Africa that is not commonly used. This topic aims to ignite a discussion on whether the term "black people" diminishes the complexity of our identities. This exploration into identity and ethnicity is more than an academic exercise. It is a journey that seeks to redefine our understanding of ourselves and others. It calls for a thoughtful examination of the labels we use and a daring challenge to the status quo. "My journey has really been following the path throughout the African diaspora, on five continents, chasing the knowledge of essentially how through slavery, Africa changed the global culinary conversation."  Alexander Smalls Alexander Smalls began his illustrious career as a restaurateur in the nineties and furthered my appreciation for low-country cuisine when he opened Café Beulah, his first restaurant with its butter-toned walls displaying framed sepia-toned family photos.  That's how I remember that room, it was elegant and it was beautiful. Alexander, of course, was an immaculate host.  Prior to his restaurant career, after starring in Porgy and Bess performing at the Houston Grand Opera, where the production and Mr. Smalls won a Tony and a Grammy, he reluctantly left that stage telling the New York Times in 2020, "an operatic career was my dream, but I was not able to break that glass ceiling as an African American male."  Alexander reinvented himself as a chef, restaurateur, and cookbook author, winning a James Beard Award for Between Harlem and Heaven. Several restaurants followed, including Minton's and The Cecil in Harlem, created with the rising culinary talent JJ Johnson. Using African inspiration to create a global table, the restaurant was crowned Esquire Magazine's "Best New Restaurant of the Year" in 2014. Inspired by his world travels tracing the African diaspora's cooking techniques and culinary foodways, Alexander's newest venture is Alkebulan, the first dining hall in the world showcasing and celebrating African food. With locations in Dubai and London, he plans to bring the concept to multiple cities.  Please join me, your host, Brad Johnson, in welcoming Alexander, who has emerged as one of the most important voices in the African-American culinary journey, to Corner Table Talk.  * * * Instagram: Corner Table Talk  and Post and Beam Hospitality LinkedIn: Brad Johnson E.Mail:  brad@postandbeamhospitality.com For more information on host Brad Johnson or to join our mailing list, please visit: https://postandbeamhospitality.com/ Theme Music: Bryce Vine Corner Table™ is a trademark of Post & Beam Hospitality LLCSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Aha aha, Christmas in and of itself can't get any more absurd and rediculous, when you take a look at historic reality. it is very sad to see millions of well read people, clinging to the biblical fictional Jesus Christ, and bluntly disregard the account of historical fact of human origins. It has to be that the Italian and Indo-European white men knew something about telling gross lies to people under certain condition they just can't tell the difference between the truth and their lies, however obvious they make those lies in the bible. World history with Alkebulan religion is 200,000 years old, in every form of its practice was done under the jurisdiction of the Goddesses and Gods. The Italian Romans E g., from their primival experience they only knew the worship of polotheistic Gods and Goddesses-- the same worship as all other civilations. To the extent it was all they knew and able to do, in Constantine preparation to administrate monotheism Christianity the Roman emperor was still under state polytheistic worship to their gods and goddesses. Their major gods at the time were Juno, Minerva, Jupiter and Mars. So it was a major transition form polytheism to monotheism. Ditto for the Indo-European who never broke ranks with polythesim as recorded Vedic age  shows, 1500 BC to 500 BC their Brahmins priests surpassed popular warriors in prestige, because the priest important role was to performed ritural to please their gods.  That is a clear sign the Italian and European turn criminal nomads, knew nothing about monotheism, until Rome decided to make that religious dichotomy of two opposing practices. You now have choice of the origional fact and new lies of the white bunch.

The show is designed to give identity of issues someone should find commonsensical, easy comprehension, about actual animations of people lived in the distance past. In this situation, we only hear each other speak about Christian belief in God.  All of us in the Westtern European A.D. world, were born a few years ago, and for us to have an accurate reliable sense of the world behind us-- we have to rely mostly on books to tell us about them. Focusing on Christianity, ask yourself the question 'have I been only reading the bible on my believing mind," should I read  a piece of relevant history, to get knowledge of where Christianity comes from? In "The World And Africa by W.E.B. DU BOIS serious things took place at dawn of the nineteen century, and these are the kinds of situation all of us need information on, to sense of choosing the road we take in life-- or we'll  believe in the vacuous Jesus Christ the Romans invented for A.D. anno Domini. Succinctly Christianity started out by some white men who wanted to rule over the world with two classes of people. They want to make themselve superor and the other inferior, and wealth being the dividing line. Their plan was to use division of people, weapons, religion, poverty and violence. Unfortunity they never have adequate knowledge to adjudicate balance management of society. They concentrated on exalting themselves in dominating society by immoral and criminal conduct. But their God and Jesus Christ, went to sleep and they crashed to the ground, before the eyes of the world, just like the NASA shuttle that blew up in mid air. And like NASA, they kept on the road for more disaster to strike. NASA may have learned to have safe flights, but the white men of Europe have no mental room for wisdom, because today society they have molded; is at the point of extinction.

Egypt and Western Asia tell the same story. “In each case we have a standard or measuring-rod of authentic historical record,” declares Samuel Laing, “of certainly not less than 8,000 and more probably 9,000 or 10,000 years, from the present time; and in each case we find ourselves at this remote date, in the presence, not of rude beginnings, but of a civilization already ancient and far advanced. We have populous cities, celebrated temples, an organized priesthood, an advanced state of agriculture and of the industrial and fine arts; writing and books so long known that their origin is lost in myth; religions in which advanced philosophical and moral ideas are already developed; astronomical systems which imply a long course of accurate observations. How many centuries it may have taken to develop such a civilization, from the primitive beginnings of Neolithic and Paleolithic origins, is a matter of conjecture. All we can infer is, that it must have required an immense time, much longer than that embraced by the subsequent period of historical record.” (Human Origins, by Samuel Laing, p. 30, London, 1913.) ~Of these crucified saviors, the most prominent were Osiris and Horus of Egypt, Krishna of India, Mithra of Persia, Quetazlcoatl of Mexico, Adonis of Babylonia and Attis of Phrygia. Nearly all of these slain savior-gods have the following stories related about them: They are born of a virgin, on or near Dec. 25th (Christmas); their births are heralded by a star; they are born either in a cave or stable; they are slain, commonly by crucifixion; they descend into hell, and rise from the dead at the beginning of Spring (Easter), and finally ascend into heaven. The parallels between the legendary lives of these pagan messiahs and the life of Jesus Christ as recorded in the Bible are so similar that progressive Bible scholars now admit that stories of these heathen Christs have been woven into the life-story of Jesus.
