Caffeine is an incredibly addictive drug that a majority of people consume each day to function. It's so addictive and common that people joke about their own addiction. Yet we don't treat caffeine in the same manner as other drugs. Recently, the ‘Charged Lemonade' drinks from Panera Bread are being blamed for two deaths due to caffeine content. These lemonades have also gone viral for their caffein content despite the massive caffeine dosage that can be found in sodas, energy drinks, and speciality tea concoctions - especially when refilled over and over. One may wonder why others have not died of the ‘Charged Lemonade' or countless other caffeine concentrated products before the recent lawsuits - or maybe they have. Perhaps the headaches, nausea, nausea, vomiting, tinnitus, tachycardia, anxiety, insomnia, dizziness, and irritability, induced by caffeine are being treated like normal conditions or blamed on other popular scapegoats. Caffeine toxicity may also be damaging relationships, causing hazardous driving conditions, etc. It's time to have a talk about something that may be contributing to far more problems in our society than we are willing to admit. This show is part of the Spreaker Prime Network, if you are interested in advertising on this podcast, contact us at https://www.spreaker.com/show/5328407/advertisement

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is formally recommending that the Drug Enforcement Administration ease government restrictions on marijuana, which remains legal or decriminalized in 40 states but still illegal federally. The new recommendation seeks to move marijuana from a Schedule I to III substance, and therefore away from drugs like heroin and LSD, which are considered to have no medical use but high potential for abuse. Not only does this change in federal attitude align with an upcoming election - as do issues of debt relief and pregnancy for young people whose votes are for sale - as was the case in New York when the sexual-assaulting former governor did the same thing, but it ignores the fact that marijuana is a top used substance in the United States and without doubt is addictive for one reason or another. Marijuana overdoses plague U.S. hospitals but are either ignored because the drug is never seen as dangerous, or because responsibly for this health crisis is not politically viable. Meanwhile, the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism has recently alluded to adopting Canada's drinking guidelines. These recommendations, not laws, encourage people to have no more than 2 drinks per week. While the alternative media has made this an issue of rights and government oppression, even linking it to the 18th Amendment and prohibition, the CDC currently has similar guidelines that suggest no more than 2 drinks or less per day for men and 1 for women. Where is the outrage? Just like with countless executive orders over the last three years, recommendations are not laws and if anything are one of the only things government should be doing. None of this takes into consideration the differences between cheap alcohol filled with garbage ingredients and pure drinks that may provide benefits to the body when consumed in very small amounts, i.e., wine or sake. Whether it's marijuana or alcohol, we never discuss quality, quantity, how it's made or produced, or the added ingredients. We make these issues about as black and white as possible, whether from a scientific or political stance. This show is part of the Spreaker Prime Network, if you are interested in advertising on this podcast, contact us at https://www.spreaker.com/show/5328407/advertisement

Part one of Causing a Comeau-tion explored an attempt to break down interprovincial trade barriers in Canada through the use of litigation. In part two, we consider the consequences of the case. The Supreme Court ruled that the existing barriers to the sale of alcohol across provincial borders do not violate the constitution. While the case might initially appear to be a straightforward defeat for the litigants, the case could lead to other types of victories that prove it to be an example of successful legal mobilization. We get back in touch with Howard Anglin and Professor Christopher Manfredi, who share their thoughts on the decision and what its ultimate outcomes could be. Tired of the hangovers and regrets that result from having one too many? Do you want to know what is really behind your desire to drink? Are you interested in taking a break from alcohol? If so, then this interview with Rachel Hart is a must listen. Rachel coaches women (and men) who want to change their drinking habits so that they can live happier and healthier lives. During her 20s she developed a love-hate relationship with drinking which resulted in periodic breaks here and there. Like many of us, she loved the feelings alcohol provided her; however, wasn't a fan of the hangovers or the foggy (and sometimes) regretful memories from the night before. When her 30s came around, Rachel decided it was time to take another break from drinking. For real, this time. Why? Because she realized she was using alcohol as a coping mechanism. It made her feel relaxed, comfortable, and most importantly confident in social settings. So instead of using alcohol as a crutch, she decided to investigate what was really behind her drinking. She now teaches her clients the same principles that have worked so well for her. Rachel believes that you don’t need a glass in your hand to feel relaxed, confident, attractive, outgoing, and happy and that the best version of yourself isn’t waiting at the bottom of a glass. It's already inside of you - you just need to change your thinking. In This Episode, You Will Learn: About Rachel's love/hate relationship with alcohol in her 20s Why we feel so much pressure to drink in social settings How a perception shift can alter your relationship with alcohol Why choosing not to drink is the same as saying "No" to dessert That our thoughts create our feelings, and our feelings drive our actions Why we need to pay more attention to our thoughts If you can change your desire to drink then you're never restraining yourself Why our end result is an accumulation of habits and messages over time Why we use alcohol to cope with our emotions and make us feel comfortable in certain situations How To Get In Touch With Rachel: Free 5-Day Reset Challenge Book: Why Can't I Drink Like Everyone Else Podcast Website

BPC - Episode 93 - That Sweet Indiana Corn Whiskey We've been raving about this whiskey since it first touched our lips, so it was a pleasure to be invited up to South Bend, Indiana and sit with owner and distiller, Charlie Florance, to talk whiskey. . . and drink whiskey! Also joining the boys on this fabulous afternoon was the brewmaster of the Twisted Crew Brewing Company, Mr. Josh Lakins (don't try and pronounce last name...he spells it wrong).  Josh had recently won the Indiana Whiskey Company's Whiskey and Whiskers competition and was in town for the crowning.  Piggy, Dougy Fresh, came in as runner-up so it only made sense to make the day a celebration and get everyone together to eat, drink, and be merry.  We can't say enough good things about Indiana Whiskey.  This Veteran owned and operated facility, specializing in small batch whiskey utilizes only those fine Indiana made and grown products, from the stills to the grains, this is Indiana.  This quaint and cozy place just makes you feel at home.  The always warm greeting provided by manager and mixologist, Molly Kolecki, along with her killer cocktails will put you at ease keep you coming back for the Hoosier hospitality as well as this fantastic whiskey.  And we loved her even more when she put Cowboy to work about 10 minutes after arriving.  Pretty sure he ended up wearing more whiskey than he transferred, but he smelled wonderful the rest of the day. Tune into this whiskey fueled episode to learn more about Indiana Whiskey and some of their upcoming events, such as their monthly Prohibition Comedy days that has brought in some of the funniest comics from the area as well as Chicago and Detroit.  And keep on the lookout for Part Two when we super charge our buzz with some treats brought up from Twisted Crew for another hour of laughs.  Shout out on this episode include Danny Boy Beer Works which seems very appropriate on St. Patrick's Day today.
