Good afternoon, I'm _____ with today's episode of EZ News. Tai-Ex opening The Tai-Ex opened down 189-points this morning from yesterday's close, at 23,376 on turnover of $7.8-billion N-T. Shares in Taiwan fell by more than 160 points Monday as investor sentiment was spooked by weaker-than-expected trading in the United States, which prompted fears of a U.S. slowdown. But select old economy stocks still attracted rotational buying, with shipping and steel stocks helping to prevent the Taiex from falling further." Two Receive Deferred Prosecution in Core Pacific City Case Prosecutors say two people involved in the Core Pacific City corruption case have received deferred prosecution. The Taipei District Prosecutor's Office says former Dingyue Development Corporation president Chu Yea-hu (朱亞虎) and Core Pacific Group legal affairs manager Chen Chun-yuan (陳俊源) admitted to the charges. Officials say the two must pay $3.3-million and $1.2-million NT respectively to the public treasury (國庫) within three months. The Taipei District Prosecutors Office previously indicted former Taipei Mayor Ko Wen-je, Weijing Group Chairman Shen Qing-jing, and nine others for corruption, embezzlement, and other offenses. (NS) Macron Warns Trump not to "Surrender" Ukraine French President Emmanuel Macron has warned Donald Trump not to "surrender" (交出,放棄) Ukraine as he pushes for a peace deal with Russia. The two leaders met at the White House on Monday, on the third anniversary of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Nick Harper reports from Washington. Morocco Claims Dozens Arrested in Foiled IS Attack Moroccan authorities have arrested a dozen people they said were planning attacks on behalf of the Islamic State in the Sahel. The country's top investigator said Monday that the dismantling (拆解) of one of the group's terror cells reflected their growing regional ambitions. They did not provide details about what they called imminent (即將發生的) threats but released a series of videos and photographs showing officers raiding compounds they said were being used to plan attacks. In recent years, Morocco's security services claim to have dismantled 40 terrorist cells, including one as recently as January. Greece Santorini Quakes in Gradual Decline Scientists from the University of Athens monitoring an earthquake swarm near the island of Santorini say the phenomenon is in “gradual decline” nearly a month after the multiple tremors started. The undersea shocks — sometimes recorded only minutes apart — led thousands of residents and workers to flee the famed cliff-top towns of Santorini as well as the nearby islands of Ios, Amorgos and Anafi. Schools remain closed on those islands for a fourth week and many other restrictions are still in effect. But scientists said they are encouraged by the recent progression of the earthquake swarm, while local authorities say thousands of those fled have returned in recent days. Officials say from January 26th to February 22nd, they've recorded more than 20-thousand earthquakes of magnitude 1 or higher. The multiple earthquakes, attributed to natural tectonic (地殼構造的) processes as well as magma movements below the seabed, have measured up to magnitude 5.3 but have caused only minor damage. That was the I.C.R.T. Greece's Aegean islands, including Santorini, Amorgos, and Anafi, are experiencing an intense and unusual earthquake swarm, with tremors reaching magnitude 5.3. Over two-thirds of Santorini's residents have voluntarily left, and authorities have declared a state of emergency, closing schools and discouraging large gatherings. Scientists are baffled by the erratic seismic activity, which lacks a clear mainshock and appears tectonic rather than volcanic in origin. On my second trip to Greece, I set out to do one thing: avoid the Summer crowds! While I spent most of my time out in the Mediterranean on the islands of Santorini and Anafi, I also visited Athens and was able to visit almost all of the big sites in just 6 hours!! So whether you need help planning a long layover, or want to know how I avoided the crazy cruise ship crowds on the islands, take a listen!

Today's show is on the Anafi AI drone and why we recommended it over the DJI drones in the past and if the Anafi AI still is the preferred drone over the latest offerings from DJI? Our question for today is from Easton who wants to clarify something we spoke in 2020 about preferring the Anafi AI over the DJI products. Easton owns a DJI Mini 3 Pro and with the Mini 3 Pro, Easton would like to know whether we still recommend the Anafi and would like us to back our recommendations with relevant data and information. Thank you for the question, Easton. We respond to today's question by providing a quick overview and data on the time and resources used by a Phantom and Anafi AI for carrying out a drone mapping mission. We elaborate on how the Anafi AI compares to some of the present day drones on paramaters such as shutter, mapping time and ease of mapping and discuss the important parameters that volume mappers need to keep in mind while working on mapping projects. We also look into ground sampling distance and what impacts it alongside discussing the larger sensor advantage of the Anafi AI. We also look into various offerings provided by current DJI drones such as the Mini 3 Pro, the Mavic 3 Enterprise and when these drones can be utilized for mapping alongside recommendations for mapping drones based on on the continued debate on Chinese v American drone discussion. This week in drone news, the FCC has released a document discussing DJI as a security concern and the commissioner has called for a ban, an 8-day flight by an unmanned aircraft, AgEagle is purchasing senseFly from Parrot, and Arizona DroneFest 2021. Parrot Anafi Thermal Deep dive: https://pilotinstitute.com/course/parrot-anafi-thermal-deep-dive/ FCC Commissioner calls for DJI ban The FCC commissioner called for the process of adding DJI to the FCC's covered list. This would prohibit the use of federal money from being used to purchase DJI equipment. “The FCC also has a proceeding underway examining whether to continue approving equipment from entities on the Covered List for use in the US, regardless of whether federal dollars are involved” The covered list is a list of companies whose products contain or pose an “unacceptable security risk” The FCC Commissioner also stated that additional consideration was required to “determine if other entities warrant closer scrutiny” https://twitter.com/BrendanCarrFCC/status/1450496145516544001/photo/1 8-Day UAS flight Vanilla UAV has claimed the world record with an 8 day, 50-minute flight without refueling. Over 8 days, the aircraft flew a total of 10,600 NM before landing This is a fixed-wing UAS designed primarily for the military. The Vanilla is not an sUAS but is instead in the group 3 category - between 25 and 599kg. The Vanilla UAV has a payload of 68kg or 150lbs. https://www.flightglobal.com/military-uavs/vanilla-uav-claims-world-record-eight-day-flight-without-refuelling/145774.article AgEagle to Aquire Sensefly AgEagle Aerial Systems is purchasing senseFly from Parrot. senseFly is most widely known for the creation of the ebee (fixed wing Parrot stated that this sale was necessary to their future plans of focusing on quadcopter/multi-rotor aircraft. “Moving forward, Parrot will focus its expertise and resources on the growth of its professional quadcopter drone equipment and drone data analysis software activities. The transaction will provide additional cash and lower operational expends to drive Parrot's growth and industry standing. With the expanded capabilities of the ANAFI line of professional drones and of the Pix4D software suites, Parrot will continue to address its core market segments: 3D Mapping, Surveying and Inspection, Agriculture, and Defense and Security.” https://www.suasnews.com/2021/10/ageagle-to-acquire-sensefly-from-parrot/ Come visit us at AZ DroneFest! Athens as a collection of villagers, refugees and outsiders. Few Athenians are so-called ‘True Athenians.' Author and journalist Diane Shugart walks Sofka around the changing neighbourhood of Pangrati to discuss this, the ‘15-minute city' and why the kiosk or periptero is so significant. Anthropologist Roxane Caftanzoglou reveals how Anafiotika, under the Acropolis, was built by islanders from Anafi. Refugees are nothing new in Athens. Historian Nikos Nikolaides unpacks the traumas of the Greek refugees fleeing Turkey in the 1922 ‘Catastrophe.' From Armenians in Neos Kosmos to Syrians in Kypseli, where Marina Liakis discusses how she started the NGO Zaa'tar with its refuge and falafel café, Tastes of Damascus. At the Victoria Square Project there are community arts projects for all. Young director Niovi Zarambouka-Chatzimanou says, ‘We do not talk about refugees and migrants inside our space; we talk about neighbours.'
DJI Mavic Mini 2 Important Updates, DOD Releases List of Approved Drone Manufacturers in Their Blue sUAS Program, Drones for Environmental Conservation, Drones for Good Our biggest story this week is about the National Defense Authorization Act which bans the use of "Chinese Drones" for federal use. Now, DOD has released a list of approved drone manufacturers courtesy of their Blue sUAS program, and drone manufacturer's like ANAFI and Skydio have made the cut. Ironically, while these drones are not assembled in China, they do use Chinese parts, and we can't help but question the wisdom behind this move. Especially, do you think that ANAFI and Skydio can match up to DJI in terms of performance and affordability? And with Skydio dealing with major production issues, are they in a position to cater to DOD's requirements? Our next story is about the new DJI drones that are likely to be launched in 2020. In this segment of the show, we share the latest industry updates for DJI Mavic Mini 2 and DJI's new FPV drone. Other topics covered in today's show include drones for environmental conversation, drones for furthering STEM education, and how agricultural drones are being used in California and New Mexico. The user reported that he was flying close to 400 feet and adjusting the settings on his camera and he heard a shot. He didn't think anything of it and just landed only to see the damage. The damage was mostly to the battery but it's amazing that the drone survived. Yes, it is a federal crime to shoot at an aircraft, including a drone… Update on the Gatwick incident Remember the Gatwick alleged drone incident in 2018? A couple had been falsely arrested in conjunction with the alleged incident. Their house was assaulted by police and they were held for 36 hours in December 2018. They sued and just settled $250,000 There was never any confirmed drone sighting and with hundreds of journalists and government official, no proof has been provided to date. Gatwick did however spend $6 million to install Anti-UAV Defense system. Over a $1 million has been spent investigating the supposed incident. Drone helps father/daughter in the river A drone was used to locate a father and his daughter whose canoe had capsized in the San Joaquin River in California. The drone followed a citizen who rescued the daughter and brought her back to land. The drone helped the fire department located the father who had stayed behind. https://www.linkedin.com/posts/rick-smith-298376199_antiochpd-apd-uas-activity-6677326574427238400-s4Oh/

Autel Robotics Releases the 8K variant of Autel Evo 2, How Public Safety Agencies are using Drones to Fight the Coronavirus, Parrot Anafi UA for Military Use Our biggest drone news story this week is about the Autel Evo 2. Autel Robotics has finally released the 8K version of this much-awaited and much-delayed drone. Regular ADU listeners might recall that we tested out this drone when it was first released at CES 2020. Autel is yet to release the 6K and dual variants of this drone. While this drone has best-in-class specs and can be a good addition to your fleet, it remains to be seen how this drone will be received considering the current situation. Will new launches like the Autel Evo 2, DJI Mavic Air 2, and DJI Mavic 3 succeed in reviving a stuttering drone market? Next, we discuss how drones are being increasingly used by public safety officials to fight the coronavirus. While the intentions are good, public safety agencies tend to go overboard which creates negative public perception. In this segment of the show, we also discuss the pitfalls of flying under a COA. This serves as a good segue to the next story - which is about using drone deliveries for COVID testing. The drone delivery service provider, Zipline is using drones to facilitate COVID testing in Ghana. Drones deliveries can help enforce social distancing while adhering to social distancing norms. Unlike the US, drone laws are more flexible in African countries, and so they can leverage the power of drone technology for the greater good. Other topics discussed in today's show include the Parrot Anafi UA and the new omni-directional drone from ETH Zurich. DJI confirms April release date for the DJI Mavic Air 2, DJI Matrice 300 to be in stores soon, France to buy 651 drones for surveillance purposes, NYPD seizes drone after Hart Island Photo Our biggest story this week is about the DJI Mavic Air 2. DJI has confirmed a release date of April 27th for the much-awaited Mavic Air 2. With economic activity curtailed due to the virus outbreak, it shall be interesting to see how this new DJI drone fares commercially. As of now, no information on pricing and specs has been released. You can check out the teaser here. Next, the French government is the news as it is all set to acquire 651 drones for surveillance purposes. What is interesting is that this multi-million dollar tender states specifications that seem to be tailored for Anafi. Regular ADU listeners might recall how the French government used drones to gather data when a fire broke out at the Notre Dame cathedral. This development also highlights how archaic drone laws are preventing the industry from truly taking off in the United States. Our next story is about the coronavirus. NYPD recently seized George Steinmetz's drone after he captured some rather shocking images of Hart Island, a tiny island next to Manhattan. George's images show burials being done at Hart Island. And as per reports, there has been a huge spike in burials in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak. Other topics discussed on this show include DJI Matrice 300 updates and drones being used to save fawns in the Swiss Alps. Tune in to our latest show now! Nielshas been flying drones for two years now, both in France and New Zealand. His girlfriend is from New Zealand, so he's been lucky enough to spend time in both countries, while flying his drone for work. In this episode we get into the benefits of drone mapping on wind farms, and some of the cool little techniques that Niels is employing. One of the concerns on wind farms is tree height. Previously before drones, Niels' team would have to measure tree heights by attending the location, and measuring individual trees. Now with drones, they are able to capture imagery of large areas, and quickly calculate all of the tree heights. Why does this matter? Well, it all comes down to financial efficiencies! Higher trees will block the wind, create fewer revolutions, and overall lower the value of the wind farm. Niels is flying the DJI Mavic Pro, as well as the Parrot Bebop-Pro Thermal. In addition to the Bebop thermal, he's also had a chance to get his hands on the Parrot Anafi Thermal. I have had a chance to fly the Anafi, however the thermal is new and I think it's an exciting new addition to Parrot's fleet. If you're looking for a small drone that is durable and won't break the bank, be sure to check out Parrot's drones. On the mapping side of things, we discuss the differences between Drone Deploy and Pix4D processing. There are benefits to each, and Niels does a great job of describing which tasks excel on each platform. Finally we discussed the rules around flying your drones in national parks. Specifically, we get into an example where I saw someone holding their drone in Banff National Park. When I said that he can't fly that in the park, his response was, "I know." Anyway, make sure that you follow the rules when you travel (or even in your own country). For those that are looking to fly in Canada, I've summed up the Canadian RPAS regulationsfor both domestic and foreign drone pilots.

In realtà ne parla Alessandro! Your battles are over" by Weary Eyes from Fugue.

Hike to the top of the Plaka and explore the charming "village" of Anafiotika, built in the 19th century by people from the tiny Cycladic island of Anafi who came here to the big city looking for work. In this oasis of tranquility, nestled beneath the walls of the Acropolis, the intensity of Athens seems miles away.
