Andy, Praz and Oleg discuss all the pertinent issues with the Cubs like the return of Matt Mervis, Nicky Two Strikes, Ian Happ's return to the lineup, Kyle Hendricks' phantom back injury and Boog's fascination with Mike Tauchman. But then they put their big throbbing brains together and come up with a series of initiatives that will toughen the Cubs up and forge them into a true championship contender. The ideas are brilliant and the Cubs can easily monetize them, which is all they care about. Then the podcast becomes probiotic talk as Andy discusses the very liquid reason why there was only one newsletter and no podcast last week, and if the good folks at Bucee's or Kefir are listening, there's a sponsorship opportunity in the offing, with the kind of appreciative testimonial that money just can't buy. Oh, and the name they couldn't remember at the end? Barkevious Mingo. Don't Google him. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/desipio/message

Wait til you hear about our NFL ring ceremony concept...Jonah is back in from his Fresh year of college and contributes in a big way. Maria can best be described as mildly bemused and tolerant as the guys propose the following:1) What would you do if you had the Stanley Cup for a day?2) A total reimagining of the NFL Super Bowl ring ceremony. What if NFL Super Bowl rings were turned over every year like the Stanley Cup? 50 yard line, previous winners line up across from new winners and (Benny Hill theme starts playing) each player has to find another one to wear his ring.Would there be Red Carpet event fan overlap for the Super Bowl if there was a week long leadup with players discussing the rings, their potential outfits for the ceremony and who their potential targets might be?If this sounds to you like it might be a terrible idea, maybe you need to ask yourself this question: “If Elvis Grbac, 1994 Michigan Wolverines starting QB, thinks its a great idea...is it possible that maybe I’m the one missing the point?”*If you are an NFL athlete or know an NFL athlete, please explain to us why or how you think this will be successful and who to contact to make it work.*To date, Elvis Grbac is definitely unaware of this idea and may or may not think it’s a good idea. Please visit us at https://thetragedyacademy.com On social media, you can find us at @thetragedyacademypodcast on Instagram, The Tragedy Academy Podcast on Facebook, and @tragedy_academy on Twitter. Last year, on the Saturday before Labor Day, Bill O’Brien traded two first round picks, a second round pick, and Julien Davenport, for Laremy Tunsil and Kenny Stills, and traded Jadeveon Clowney for Jacob Martin, a third round pick, and Barkevious Mingo. From now on, always and forever, the Saturday before Labor Day is Bill O’Brien day. And what a joyous Bill O’Brien day yesterday was. Deshaun Watson announced his contract extension, Keke Coutee and Kahale Warring made the 53 man roster, and Jadeveon Clowney signed with the Tennessee Titans to turn the Texans v. Titans rivalry on, and make it something more than a bad man moving his bad team to a different city. On this episode of Battle Red Radio, Matt Weston and Carlos Flores discuss yesterday’s wonderful Bill O’Brien day. Topics include: Keke Coutee’s inclusion on the roster, Kahale Warring lust, what Houston’s plan is at offensive line, defensive line depth, the full cornerback room, A.J. Moore’s rise to safety number three, and Clowney’s decision to join Tennessee. Let’s start the show. Seahawks pull off trade with Houston for DE Jadeveon Clowney, sending Jacob Martin and Barkevious Mingo, plus a 2020 third round pick. Does Seahawks GM John Schneider doesn’t get the respect he deserves? The Seahawks made roster cuts this weekend - Who was the most surprising cut?
Jadeveon Clowney - Smartest move in player history? Jadeveon Clowney has pulled off what might be the smartest chess move that the NFL has seen by a player. Not only did Clowney get the trade that he wanted, but he also got traded to the Seattle Seahawks where they didn't have to give up anything. The Seahawks gave up a third-round pick, Barkevious Mingo, and Jacob Martin. They gave up nothing to acquire the star defensive end and even if they can't get Clowney to sign the dotted line they will benefit this season. Clowney was headed to the Miami Dolphins and even met with the team until he refused a trade to Miami. He waited to sign his tender till he was going to be traded to the team that he wanted to go to. Whether he gets his big contract from the Seahawks is a different story and something that will rely on his play on the field. Miami Dolphins - Tank season By trading away Laremy Tunsil and Kenny Stills for future assets, Johnson Bademosi, and Julien Davenport it could be tank season in Miami. The Dolphins decided that they could not pass up the offer from the Houston Texans and Bill O'Brien. The Dolphins are prepared to go into free agency, and the 2020 NFL draft with six potential top 100 picks and almost $140Mil in cap space. The Dolphins are setting themselves up for a bright future if everything goes their way. Questions from the podcast team Are the Miami Dolphins officially tanking? Did the Houston Texans get fleeced in the Jadeveon Clowney, Laremy Tunsil, and Kenny Stills trades? New to the show? It was a big morning for the Seahawks ahead of the 53-man roster cuts with reports that Jadeveon Clowney is coming to Seattle in a trade for Jacob Martin, Barkevious Mingo and a 2020 3rd round pick. Joe Fann, Seahawks Insider for NBC Sports Northwest, joins the show to talk about the trade with the Houston Texans. We talk about what the position the Texans were in when it looked like a potential trade with the Dolphins wasn't going to happen, the hit rate for the Seahawks when it comes to 3rd round draft picks, and the potential that Clowney could end up being a one-year rental player for the Seahawks. The only downside is if Jacob Martin goes on to develop into a solid player and Clowney does leave after this next year and the Seahawks aren't able to capitalize off his efforts. For now, it looks like a huge win for the Seahawks and John Schneider going into the 2019 NFL season. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Chris Carson says that offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer is looking to get the running backs more involved in the passing game and he talks about how he promised his mom that he wouldn't be going airborne in avoiding defenders this year. SAINTS Signed Malcolm Jenkins and Emmanuel SandersThen Walter breaks down the future of the New Orleans saints. The team I just signed Emmanuel Sanders and Malcolm Jenkins. The perennial playoff contenders. They resign Drew Brees to a two-year deal, re-signed Andrea’s Pete, resign David on Amana D lineman. They also signed no expense. And they gave Janoris Jenkins a two-year extension. Furthermore they activated the fifth your options on Ryan ram shack and Marshon Lattimore. The team is pretty much done in free agency but we’ll see what they can do in the draft. Then we turn her eyes to the Green Bay Packers and Aaron Rodgers. Another team that’s done almost nothing in free agency but a few key moves. They lost the major players including Brian Bulaga and Blake Martinez. But they might’ve got an upgrade at the linebacker position of Christian Kirksey. They also get Ricky Wagner who helps replace the loss of Brian Bulaga. But they saw some questions going into the draft. There’s still biggest needs are stopping the run, pass protecting for Aaron Rodgers and getting some pass catching weapons you’re the greatest QB of all time. They did sign Devvon Funchess, which shouldn’t preclude them from drafting a wide receiver for signing another in free agency. What might stop them though is the limited Space left to sign said receiver in free agency. The good news is Green Bay has about 10 picks in the draft, which they can definitely use try and stock up on receiver D tackle an offense of tackle.
