On the Secret Witch Show today our guest is William Apple. William is Founder of Aion Psychodynamic Coaching and with a passion for understanding the depths of the human psyche, and a commitment to personal growth and transformation, William offers a unique approach to coaching and mentoring that transcends traditional "Life Coaching" paradigms. William's most influential Teacher, and Mentor by proxy - within the realms of Psychology - would be Carl Jung. Like Jung, William has found a devotion within himself to explore and cultivate an intimacy with Psyche, and Her Mother, The Unconscious, and this Intimacy is driven by a likewise strict devotion to the Child of Logos, Analysis. All of which likewise led William naturally towards Traditional Western Alchemy and Mysticism; making Carl Jung William's most naturally aligned "professor". In this deep and brilliant episode we explore how to journey with ‘inner child' work and ‘shadow work' (rather than the phantasy of ‘quick fixes') for deep healing. We dived into the psychological reasons we tend to favour ‘quick fix' approaches to healing, what we mean by ‘real' inner-child work - and how curiosity, intimacy and self-illumination are key to healing and realising our magic. Listen to the end - William shares truthfully at the end that becoming a healer is one of the most challenging callings we can have, sharing why healing ourselves is important along the way. What You'll Learn from this Episode: Our biggest wounding comes from the ‘unlived life of our parents' which leaves us with unmet needs that become our wounds - and this can be healed with ‘true' inner child work. The challenge is, much ‘inner child work' is often related to from a place of ‘quick fix' projection and phantasy by modern coaching and self-help industries - ideas of ‘go play with your little girl' embodiment practices - which are helpful in some ways, but often lack the depth of healing Caveating that ‘real' is our own projection, William explores that how he sees the ‘real' journey of healing is grounded in a lifelong journey of understanding our biases, projections and conditionings - and ‘phantasies' - with loving, curious self-illumination - which some could call the ‘deep work' Projection is not a ‘bad thing' - we have projected onto ‘projection' if we think it is! It is a great thing to get curious about - we are even projecting things that we deem to feel ‘good' (because that reveals where we have met an unmet need) As aspiring healer witches, we have been called to no easy task - the work of healing ourselves isn't easy (and is ongoing) *and* as healers, we also have a responsibility for accountability, self-awareness and avoiding projecting of our unmet needs Common fears of becoming a healer - including fear of failure, self-doubt and fear of being judged and abandoned are rooted in shame, and can be healed through deep, loving self-illumination Inner child work, parts work, shadow work and ancestral healing are all serving to help us reclaim our magic - ultimately all offering us a way of deepening intimacy with ourselves Resources and things that we spoke about: William's Website: https://www.aionpsychodynamiccoaching.com/ William's Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/will.apple.12 Brene Brown: Daring Greatly - https://brenebrown.com/book/daring-greatly/ Bessel van der Kolk: The Body Keeps the Score - https://www.besselvanderkolk.com/resources/the-body-keeps-the-score David Bedrick: Unashamed your Life - https://www.davidbedrick.com Nicole's Social: Tiktok - @archetypalapothecary Instagram - @iamnicolebarton Instagram - @archetypalapothecary You Tube - https://www.youtube.com/@secretwitchsociety Join our Secret Witch Society: www.facebook.com/groups/secretwitch Nicole's Website: www.nicolebarton.co.uk Thank you for listening, we'd love to know what comes alive for you in this week's episode, so please let us know. If your team lacks trust, it's quite possible that you haven't gone first in vulnerability. Believe it or not, vulnerability is a leader's sign of strength, not weakness. When done appropriately, vulnerability can be a huge asset to foster collaboration, trust, and bonding on an otherwise splintered team. But as always, it means WE as leaders must go first. Vulnerability with stability leads to healthy, growing teams.DOWNLOAD SHOW NOTES

Can you imagine yourself standing in front of a 30 000 audience singing “I feel pretty”? Our guest, Kasia Santi-Sperczyńska doesn’t have to anymore. Nor does she have to be fearful of singing on the stages such as Carnegie Hall and Banquet Hall of Hotel Plaza in NYC. How did a tiny girl from a tiny Polish village make it happen? Wow Episode 100! We are celebrating this milestone with my guest Sonya Thompsen-Halsey, Marriage and Family Therapist and Life Coach, and we get into some wonderful conversation about assertiveness, answering your questions and hopefully provoking some thought and insights along the way. In this episode, we discuss some of the most common questions we have heard over the years regarding the concept of assertiveness, dispelling some old myths out there and challenging you to think about what being confident and connecting is all about. Key Elements: Uncovering some different angles on the idea of being assertive. Understanding how change can look in our relationships when we begin speaking our truth. Look at ways we can soften our delivery while standing our ground. "To be passive is to let others decide for you. To be aggressive is to decide for others. To be assertive is to decide for yourself. And to trust that there is enough, that you are enough." ― Edith Eva Eger Resources: Be sure to enter the random drawing for two Amazon gift cards by following on Instagram at Soarwithmary, and providing your email address via direct message. In today's first episode of 2021, Angie shares thoughts on vulnerability and how it impacts our relationship to our children, spouses, and ourselves. Vulnerability: The quality or state of being exposed to the possibility of being attacked or harmed-either physically or emotionally. ~ Oxford Language DefinitionQuotes from today's episode:“Vulnerability is not winning or losing; its having the courage to show up and be seen when we have no control over the outcome. Vulnerability is not weakness; its our greatest measure of courage.” ~Brene Brown“People who wade into discomfort and vulnerability and tell the truth about their stories are the real badasses.” ~Brene Brown“Daring Greatly means the courage to be vulnerable, it means to show up and be seen, to ask for what you need, to talk about how you're feeling, to have the hard conversations>” ~Brene Brown“Vulnerability is a path back to each other - but we're so afraid to get on it.”~Brene BrownJOIN Angie on January 18th for the NEW (and free) Sacred Motherhood Circle to discuss vulnerability further by emailing her direct at angie@angieschaffer.com!Schedule your 30-minute connection chat to learn more about Angie's new program, The Awoken Mother, launching February 22 @ https://app.acuityscheduling.com/schedule.php?owner=19088854&appointmentType=13764997.
SERIES - Simply Gospel: Simply Profound There is something profoundly wonderful about experiencing or tasting something the way it was originally intended. In the Bible, we read the story of Cain and Abel and about the first murder that took place. Here, we see the plight of mankind played out in the first two children of Adam and Eve. Do we give in to our own way, or do we strive to do it God's way? The hard part is that it ends up being seemingly disastrous with either decision. So, what's the point? What's the “Good” of the “Good News?” One of our #WholeLifeTakeAways this week asked: Paul tells us in Romans 3 that our partnership with Christ in sharing the gospel does not put us right with God, meaning that even our good intentions and good actions are not what make us righteous or saved - (Only Christ) – So, what should motivate us as the underlying reason to follow Christ and make disciples? So, what about you? Where do you find your motivation and reason to follow Christ and make disciples? We would love to hear how you see this in your life. How can running be a positive driver for change? It starts with us, our individual mindset and mental disposition. If running can free us from feelings or stress, frustration, anger, fear and sadness, we can make space for feelings of joy, empathy and understanding. Maybe the willingness to understand others, being inquisitive rather than fearful and empathetic rather than defensive could solve some of the issues around ignorance, and insecurity that often can result in bullying and racism.Authors referenced in the podcast are Brene Brown (Daring Greatly) and Mitchell S. Messy Family Podcast : Catholic conversations on marriage and family
“Are you the adult you want your child to become?” ~ Dr. Brene Brown High emotions and the advent of adolescence seem to go hand in hand. Instead of getting caught up into our children's emotion and the drama that may ensue, parents need to truly be “the adult in the room” and be an example of how to deal with strong feelings in a appropriate way. To do this, we parents need to be self-aware and conscious of our own woundedness and need for healing. Only then can we be an example to our children and a source of hope sending the message that they CAN overcome. We need to empathize with our child and empower them to master their emotions while using their intellect and will to act, thus integrating all their faculties to act virtuously. It's hard for parents to teach pre-teens and teens how to handle drama, but this is the job of hard-working, devoted parents! Dr. Brene Brown has done research on topics no one wants to discuss, shame and vulnerability. Yet it is through these human experiences that we find the courage to "dare greatly" and become "wholehearted." She has been featured on TED, The Power of Vulnerability, and Listening to Shame. She is the author of the #1 New York Times bestseller, Daring Greatly. In this candid conversation she weaves her own experience with her research and thus inspires us all to live courageous lives.
