To commemorate Last Day's fifth anniversary, we are revisiting the season two finale. This episode was chosen by Jackie – one of the first people to work on the show, and a previous Last Day guest herself. Season 2 Finale! We started this season on a bridge but told you not to get caught up in the romantic notion of saviors and last minute interventions. Suicide isn't about one moment in time. But if you or someone you love is suicidal, a single moment can be the difference between life and death. So, this week we're doing a toolkit episode all about crisis response. What do you do when help is needed right now? This week, we role play with a suicide hotline employee, give the Cliff's notes version of QPR suicide prevention training, and hear about what happens when therapists go on strike. This episode features a host of talented people, including Tara Consolino (director of suicide prevention and substance abuse, Detroit V.A.), Dr. Julie Goldstein Grumet (director, Zero Suicide Institute at the Education Development Center), Dr. John Draper (executive director, National Suicide Prevention Lifeline), Susan Whitney (licensed marriage and family therapist, Kaiser), and Sal Rosselli (president and co-founder, National Union of Healthcare Workers). On the front page of my website is a document (PDF) that I GIFT to anyone that wants it - that is designed to support you with "pen to paper" in reaching clarity. Website is posted below. Secondly, as a support I created a the 2-Hour-Test-Drive coaching session that is complimentary to ALL. Simply, schedule on the website under Work w/Theresa. Back That A** Up! (Learning to LOVE / LOOK for mistakes you've made) Those that are defensive or offended are easily also susceptible to manipulation. I'm not sure where this quote came from, yet I know for sure I'm devoted to understanding myself, my preferences and desires so well - that - I'm not easily offended or defensive. I've learned to take care of myself by 1) finding and establishing my VALUES and when TRIGGERED I'm able to fold right back into my 3 core VALUES and let that shit go vs. defending, explaining or being offended. That's my INVITATION TO YOU AS WELL... Get in a program that gives you the tools to process emotions and feels PLUS communicate them beautifully. _________________________________ ALL CONTACT & CONNECTION RESOURCES (some have clickable links) Theresa King KingConceptsNOW.com Ph: 479.633.GROW (4769) text or call EMAIL: TheresaKingNOW@gmail.com FB: TheresaKingNOW I've been hacked on Facebook and my account is closed currently - click and try - if its open great if not. OHMYGOSH! I love this concept - it's helped SOULLLLLL MUCH as people will have a tendency to criticize naturally. It's the go-to for most little humans. The INVITATION HERE is that IF you have a criticism - poke around on it - to discover your SECRET WISH - and - communicate THAT vs the actual criticism. Secondly, if you're being criticized - do your best to create a safe space for the person to "tell you more" and do your best to discover and uncover the SECRET WISH behind their criticism. Yes, I have a coach. Please don't work with or hire someone that doesn't have a coach. And, Yes, I love Connecting the Dots (that has come along via practice) and understanding what makes me tick. I love understanding, discovering and uncovering what causes me to be triggered at times...please know all little humans get triggered. Some suppress and become doormats and people pleasers - some rage and become ugly. Some land in-between depending on how they were raised - under what conditions and what tools they've been given along the way. My hope, my intentions here are to help you feel safer in doing the same. It can feel incredibly vulnerable to step into addressing our emotions and feelings in life. The feelings and emotions that cause us to feel self-doubt, sometimes even self-loathing or resentment, rage, self-sabotage, etc. The feelings and emotions that cause us to HURT others unintentionally. I hope my service here helps ALL connect the dots for sure. ___________________ CONTACT & CONNECTION RESOURCES (some have clickable links) Theresa King KingConceptsNOW.com Ph: 479.633.GROW (4769) Experience a Coaching Session with Theresa (she moved her volunteerism to her practice during the pandemic); Read About and Book a TEST DRIVE HERE EMAIL: TheresaKingNOW@gmail.com FB: TheresaKingNOW Instagram: LetsHuman_with_Theresa TikTok Handle: @TheresaKingNOW YouTube Channel Link See playlist Self Love for / 20 3 minute message for learning HOW TO love self more... This is an overview of what was taught within my recent MAN DOWN Series… EPS 11 part 1 explains the MAN DOWN concept (how we can loose ourselves along life's way with our desire to BELONG); Belonging, love, acceptance - none of these things can be found outside of SELF (I know, sad but very very very TRUE) EPS 12 part 2 explains how life can feel at times like PURE TRICKERY. EPS 13 part 3 RED FLAGS and how we ignore and argue with our first 10 little RED FLAGS - until a BIG ONE knocks us down. EPS 14 is about DECISION MAKING and going deeper vs letting the MIND MAKE OUR DECISIONS. Book Recommendation: Heal Your Life by Louise Hay (actually list symptoms - the emotional essence and the affirmation for each); this book got me started regarding physical symptoms and what I might be thinking (the emotions behind the symptoms) at the time or experiencing at the time and how it relates with and regarding the symptoms. MAN DOWN part 1 1) think of something from your past you did NOT want 2) Step into willingness to explore, uncover, discover - poke under the hood and see the details. So you understand MORE about yourself going forward. 3) When did you know? Somethings off here?? 4) You may be with the person in this story - STOP. Sit with this teaching days, weeks or months until you completely understand to your core the strong need little humans have around BELONGING. DO NOT talk to anyone untrained. 5) Assess how you felt prior to this situation (aka conundrum); could range from lost & lonely all the way to strong & healthy. 6) When did you decide “this feels funky or this isn't feeling good or right”?? 7) this teaching (part 1) is about understanding the concept of BELONGING. 8) In most cases we must OR we feel we must leave parts of ourselves behind or hide parts of ourselves. 9) What I want - my person doesn't want. 10) We start to wonder “what's wrong here”?? And, we understand the MIND is the boat determined to feel the feels of BELONGING and we understand the HEART is the skier - and the heart JOB is to show us (somehow); we've left parts of ourselves behind. IN THE HEAD we collect information, we collect knowledge. It's all on the surface level though…before real change can occur we want to drop the information, the knowledge, the tools into the heart & Soul. Listening to this podcast allows us to understand HOW our core foundational “ways of being” came to us unconsciously between the ages of 2-7. We weren't thinking then - we were responding to what was being modeled by our care-givers. Let me know if you desire a conversation I make myself available on purpose with purpose. I offer a GIFT on the front page (bottom) of my website that shares how to get connected and have real relational conversations with your Higher Power (not into labels). When the pandemic happened I moved my volunteerism to my practice with a 2-hour-test-drive. We probably won't need 2 hours yet I don't like to be rushed. Hit the bell

Simply, take a 2-Hour-Test-Drive; no we probably won't need 2-Hours yet we won't be rushed - that's my hearts desire!! No one can save us and no one can protect us from the harsh things “our people” do and/or say. This has been one of the absolute hardest longest learning's of my life. Listen multiple times and even take notes if you feel called. This teaching - well the ACTION within this teaching will lead you straight to freedom. Freedom to be you BOO under the direction of whispers via conversations with Creator, Spirit, the Divine, Higher Power (us your label of choice) yet build the relationship with gratitude, the ASK and the listen…. This episode of Your Anxiety Toolkit was not an easy one to record. No one likes to have a conversation about suicide, but we need to. We need to have a conversation about suicide more than ever and we need to keep having these conversations until we break the stigma of suicide. Recently, one of our dear CBT School members died by suicide and our community was heartbroken. My heart was broken. Even as a therapist, I cannot prepare myself enough for the conversation about suicide. Thankfully, as we all grieve this sad loss, we are joined today by Joe Dennis to help us work through this difficult topic. Joe Dennis is the Clinical Director of Mindful Counseling in Utah with such a wonderful kind heart. In a flash, Joe agreed to join me for a conversation about suicide where he educated us about suicide and gave us some wonderful tools and resources for those who are struggling with thoughts of suicide. We also discussed tools and resources for those with a loved one who has died by suicide. Joe talked with us about why we now call it “Death by suicide” and the reasons for this terminology change. Joe also talked about the difference between passive suicidal ideation and active suicidal ideation and how to differentiate between the two. Joe and I talked about why we struggle to talk about Suicide and how Depression, anxiety, trauma, etc. play into suicidal ideation. Lastly, Joe talked about what is going through the mind of someone who is contemplating suicide and what tools/strategies/resources they can use when they are faced with this difficult time. I really hope that this podcast helps you to understand and approach suicide in a way that is less stigmatized, less shamed and less frightening. Thank you, Joe Dennis, for being on the show. According to the World Health Organization 800,000 people die due to suicide every year. My guest today, Bob Filbin is helping to pioneer a way to sharply reduce that number. Bob Filbin is the Chief Data Scientist of Crisis Text line. This is a text based mental health crisis intervention platform, operational in the US, Canada, and the United Kingdom. Individuals in crisis are able to text trained mental health workers anonymously, who can then help them through their emergency. Hundreds of millions of texts have been exchanged since the launch of crisis text line, which is providing researchers with key insights into how to prevent self harm. This is a really interesting conversation about a crucial health issue that is, indeed, a global heath issue. It is also scalable--and Bob Filbin does discuss crisis text line's global plans. This episode is part of a content partnership with the Skoll Foundation to showcase the work of the 2019 recipients of the Skoll Award for Social Entrepreneurship. The Skoll Awards distinguish transformative leaders whose organizations disrupt the status quo, drive sustainable large-scale change, and are poised to create even greater impact on the world. Recipients receive $1.5 million in core support investments to scale up their work.

In this extended interview, Nancy Lublin, founding CEO of Crisis Text Line, shares insights from her restless career as a serial entrepreneur, recruiting armies of volunteers to the causes she’s passionate about.
To succeed, entrepreneurs need a good idea, timing, money, luck. But more than anything, they need grit. Don’t confuse grit with sheer persistence; it’s not about charging up the same hill, again and again. The sort of grit you need to scale a business is less reliant on brute force. It’s actually one part determination and one part ingenuity — the ability to generate an endless supply of Plans B. And Nancy Lublin has a boundless supply of grit, which fueled her success scaling three successful not-for-profits: Dress for Success, DoSomething.org and Crisis Text Line. With practical wisdom and wicked humor, she shares the innovative approach to technology, financing, volunteers and staff development that have given her organizations such scale. If you think the for-profit world has a monopoly on scale thinking, think again.
