As summer drew to a close in September of 1966 in Cincinnati, Ohio, something terrible was happening at 3381 Greenway Avenue amid another killer's reign of terror attacking women. The Bricca family, Jerry, Linda, and their little girl, Debbie, were brutally murdered in their own home as their neighbors gathered in their homes, settling in to watch TV on that rainy evening. Decades later, the mystery of who committed this heinous crime and who was responsible remains unsolved. Today, I am joined by Brian Santana as my cohost as we sit down with the one man who has spent his life investigating this crime. J.T. Townsend walks us through the crime that has had a hold of him since childhood, so much so that he compiled his research into a comprehensive look at the case in his book Summer's Almost Gone. J.T. takes us through it all, from the timeline, the possible motives, and the person who he believes got away with murderJ. T. This week's replay episode on the Artist Academy Podcast features California-based muralist Morgan Bricca. I have stumbled upon the more experienced version of myself in Morgan. I could talk to her for hours. She has the confidence and positivity of an experienced artist—one who has dealt with the past trials of owning a business but happily perseveres because she knows, from years of experience, how the profits far surpass the struggles. For example, her project minimum nowadays is $7,500. Yep, I said minimum. Granted, she lives in one of the wealthier parts of the United States, where customers are happy to pay. Still, she knows her worth, sticks to what she's good at, and has built up a wealth of knowledge about murals—so much so that she wrote a book on it: The Mural Artist's Handbook. This woman needs no further introduction. Let me know what you think of this week's episode with Morgan Bricca.Morgan's Website: https://www.morganmurals.com

For example, her project minimum nowadays is $7,500. Yep, I said minimum. Granted she lives in one of the wealthier parts of the United States where customers are happy to pay. Still, she knows her worth, sticks to what she's good at, and has built up a wealth of knowledge about the subject of murals, so much so that she wrote a book on it: The Mural Artist's Handbook. Join us for an exclusive interview with special guest JT Townsend, author of the true crime novel 'SUMMER'S ALMOST GONE'.   His book focuses on the now 56-year-old unsolved case of the beautiful Bricca Family in suburbia Cincinnati.  As an armchair detective, JT addresses the question: Who killed the Bricca family?  JT was given unprecedented access to the case file, laden with once private information, shedding new light on this cold case.  JT Townsend answers, “Who dun it?” and renders a verdict.Handsome Gerald Bricca, 26, his beautiful wife Linda, 23, and their adorable daughter Debbie, 4, were violently murdered in their suburban Cincinnati home on September 25th, 1966.  Gerald Bricca was last seen on Sunday, September 25th, 1966, around 10:00 p.m. at his home on Greenway Avenue in Cincinnati, Ohio.  Gerald, a workaholic, returned home from his job at Monsanto and was last seen by a neighbor taking trash cans to the curb, then going inside. Gerald was scheduled to go to the airport the following morning to catch a flight to West Virginia with a co-worker for a business trip, but he did not make that flight on Monday.  Neighbors noticed that newspapers began piling up on the driveway and the trash cans had not been taken in.  Also, the porch light was still on, the TV had been on for a couple days, and their 2 dogs had not been outside.  On Tuesday evening, concerned neighbors decided to check on the Bricca home and opened the unlocked front door.  When the door was opened, one neighbor, who was a war veteran, immediately recognized the smell of death.  He advised that nobody enter the home asked another neighbor to contact the Sheriff's department. The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office responded to find the family of 3 dead. Gerald and Linda Bricca were found in their bedroom, each having suffered numerous stab wounds to their chest, neck and face.  They were both bound at some point, but the material used was removed from their bodies and was not located. Gerald had two socks stuffed in his mouth with a small piece of medical tape (that's a clue). Linda was found lying on top of Gerald. Debbie was found in her bedroom, having suffered 4 stab wounds to her back, each stab going completely through her tiny body.  Over 400 interviews were conducted, yet more than 56 years later, this case remains officially unsolved.SOURCE MATERIALS:Buy JT Townsend's books at:https://jttownsend.com/Or buy the book on Amazon:Summer's Almost Gone: The Haunting Case of the Bricca Family Murders: JT Townsend: 9781644409398: Amazon.com: BooksHosted and edited by Amanda ScottCo-Hosted, produced, researched, co-written and original graphic design by Pamela ScottOriginal music by Waves EntertainmentDisclaimer by Chuck HaungsENMESHED is an OH NO!

Were the two incidents separate or somehow connected, possibly a hit job with mafia connections? Were they retribution for the breakup of a drug cartel? Could it have been the flared temper of a Seattle Police Officer? Or maybe even a local veterinarian acting as the scorned lover? Or even something far simpler but just as tragic? We'll let you know! Victoria also gives a few anecdotes from previous psychic readings that's sure to "lift your spirits" and promote the 13th book in her Abby Cooper, Psychic Eye mystery series - A Sense of Deception.

We close out our series on JFK with another take on the assassination. Wtih Katanna Zachry and Sarah Peterson, we examined many different conspiracy theories. In episode 34, our favorite armchair detective JT Townsend (writer of "Summer's Almost Gone" about the Bricca murders) presents the least popular theory of all... the Oswald as lone gunman concept. For those that have been following along, Lisa, Aaron and I have refrained from offering our own thoughts on the most infamous murder in American history. We are not here to persuade you or change your minds, but to look at the life and death of the 35th president from as many angles as possible and let you draw your own conclusions. As we approach November 22, 2021, some 58 years since Deeley Plaza turned into the symbol for a more jaded and mature America, it is easy to see why this crime has refused to fade away. The 55th anniversary of the Bricca murders just passed last week, and we thought it was an appropriate time to bring back local author ("Summer's Almost Gone") JT Townsend for a comprehensive discussion of another case. Technically, the kidnapping and murder of Charles Lindbergh Jr. in March of 1932 is not cold at all. Bruno Hauptman paid for the crime with his life. But in this episode JT unravels the case agains Hauptman and puts the blame directly on the shoulders of one man. Be careful to meet your heroes! JT Townsend's website https://jttownsend.com Take one of JT's Communiversity classes! https://www.uc.edu/about/continuing-ed/communiversity/course-catalog/special-interest-history/jt-townsend-detective-series.html JT Townsend on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/TrueCrimeDetective Show Notes House in Hopewell was in an extremely secluded, wooded area. Tuesday, March 1, 1932 No finger prints. Was there inside help? It was a weekend home. They usually stayed in Englewood with Anne's family during the week, but Charlie had a cold and they did not want to trravel this particular week? Who might have known they would be in Hopewell on a week night? Lindbergh was not the hero the press made him out to be. Loved to pull cruel pranks on people. Almost killed another pilot during flight school by substituting water in his water pitcher with kerosene. Nazi sympathizer during WW2, moved to Germany in 1936 and was celebrated by the Nazis. “Cometary John” - Did he even exist? 13 ransom notes? Wow! Was too much reverence for Lindberg's status observed by the authorities? Lindbergh concluded his son was kidnapped immediately upon hearing Charlie was missing from his crib. Did his peculiar reaction implicate him? Lindbergh paid the ransom without demanding proof that his son was alive. Isn't that odd? A thin man with a ladder in the passenger side of his car was witnessed by the Lindberg house around the time of the abduction. Might this have been Lindberg himself? The circumstantial evidence against Hauptman was strong. But there was evidence in something written on a wall in Hauptman's garage connecting him to Dr. John Condon. What was written? Were Hauptman and Lindberg working together? If so, why didn't he implicate Lindbergh during the trial or afterwards? Hauptmann was executed for the crime. His wife gave him an alibi and maintained his innocence to the grave. Lindbergh was a proponent of Eugenics (racial purity). May have donated his son to Dr. Correll, for eugenic studies. Was Charlie vivisected and left at the crime scene afterward? Dr. John Condon - the name on the wall of Hauptman's garage - the go between guy who also received ransom notes for the Lindberghs. A blow hard with a thirst for attention. Hauptman found guilty in 1935, and sentenced to death. John Douglas, whose book Mind hunter was translated into a Netflix series, did a profile of the case for an episode of Nova on PBS. Douglas believed Hauptmann was guilty, but had accomplices. Is John Knoll a name of interest? Is John Knoll “Cemetary John”? Did Charlie Jr. have rickets? Violet Sharpe - A servant at Ann's house- Why did she commit suicide? Lindbergh's status complicated the investigation. Noone wanted to contradict him. “Lindberg Law” - Enacted the day after the kidnapping, made kidnapping a capital offense. 21, that's the amount of times the Bricca family was stabbed to death. This week, Savannah explores the case that has puzzled Cincinnati investigators for over 50 years, the brutal slaying of the Bricca family in their own home in 1966. When neighbors noticed strange things about the Bricca household, they went over to the home and made a gruesome discovery. They discovered the bodies of father Jerry, mother Linda, and 4-year-old daughter Debbie brutally murdered throughout the home. Savannah details all the evidence that investigators discovered, the mysterious potential suspects lurking around the home earlier, and how it could be potentially linked to several other murders within the area. Welcome to the Mindful FIRE Podcast, where we explore living mindfully on the path to financial independence and beyond. I'm your host Adam Coelho and I'm glad you're here.  In this episode, I'm again joined by my friend Morgan Bricca for Part 2 of our conversation. Today we explore the idea of “Craftsmanship”, which I think of pursuing and getting better at something for its own sake. For Morgan, her primary focus for craftsmanship is painting beautiful murals that make an impact but she has also applied craftsmanship to her blog, podcast and now a book she wrote and will release in the near future. In this episode we focus on craftsmanship as it relates to podcasting, since I'm new to the game and learning so much with every episode (BTW, thanks for being here!). In today's episode you'll also learn quite a bit about me including things that even some of my close friends don't know. That's because Morgan turns the tables on me and starts asking me questions that make me reflect on some of the limiting beliefs I have about money, self-improvement and what it means to be and have enough. I've got to be honest, things get pretty real but I learned a ton about myself. If you haven't yet listened to Episode 6, I recommend checking it out to learn more about how Morgan applies the principles of financial independence and mindfulness in her life to live a life filled with alignment and purpose.  As a reminder, Morgan Bricca is a mural artist, meditator, blogger, author and podcaster in the San Francisco Bay Area. She discovered Financial Independence early on in life and immediately applied the principles in her life, which allowed her to reclaim her time and ultimately leave a job that was unfulfilling to pursue being a professional mural artist. Now, Morgan enjoys life on her terms and has built a mural painting business that allows her to work part-time while earning six figures and making an impact in the community.  In today's episode Morgan and I dive into: What “Craftsmanship” means Why Morgan feels “Craftsmanship” is about growing and improving in the long run And why that means we should not put so much pressure on ourselves in the short term What Morgan learned from her reaction to a slow “clunker” blocking her way on the highway The question of “What is enough?” and how it applies to a lot more than just money How we can ease up and be kinder towards ourselves Why it's important to invest time and money into yourself and the skills you're interested in How Adam's fear of spending money prevents him from investing in himself Some of the limiting beliefs Adam has discovered after many years of meditation and listening to the thoughts inside his head And so much more. I hope you enjoy my wonderful conversation with my friend Morgan Bricca.

It was an unbelievable crime—hideous, unexpected, baffling. A crime destined to become the most notorious and obsessive cold case in Cincinnati history. On that long ago day in September on the cusp of autumn, we were horrified by the blaring Bricca murder headlines. Jerry, his pretty wife Linda, and their young daughter Debbie were found stabbed to death in their home in the city’s Bridgetown neighborhood. Striking between the 4th and 5th slayings of the Cincinnati Strangler in 1966, the Bricca killer plunged a city already on edge into an abyss.A half century later, the Bricca mystery lingers in cobwebs and survives on whispers. Enter Cincinnati crime writer, JT Townsend, author of local best-seller Queen City Gothic. JT was given unprecedented access to the case file, laden with information that never saw the light of print before–evidence that might illuminate the relentless rumors that police “screwed up the crime scene” or “covered up for the suspect.” 50 years later, True Crime Detective JT Townsend answers “Who dun it?” and renders a final verdict. As an armchair detective stalking a mystery killer, Townsend is not shackled by presumption of innocence or reasonable doubt. ALL evidence is admissible. In this gripping excavation, Townsend jettisons the implausible until we arrive at the probable truth. Townsend finally addresses the question: Who killed the Bricca family? SUMMER'S ALMOST GONE-J.T.
