www.marktreichel.comhttps://www.linkedin.com/in/mark-treichel/In this episode of With Flying Colors, Mark Treichel is joined by former NCUA leaders Geoff Bacino, Alonzo Swann, and John McKechnie for a timely and candid discussion about Chairman Kyle Hauptman's appointment to the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) — and what it signals for the future of the NCUA.While the announcement appears straightforward, the panel explains why it creates a ripple effect across the agency, including questions about leadership continuity, pending lawsuits, board vacancies, staff reductions, and the broader stability of the regulator at a critical time for credit unions. This conversation goes beyond speculation and into how the agency actually functions when leadership is in flux — from delegation of authority to examiner operations to internal morale. You'll hear insider perspective on:Why Hauptman's “intent to remain” language mattersHow the Slaughter/Harper lawsuits could determine the shape of the future boardWhat a one-member board means in practiceWhy notation votes and lack of public discussion are becoming a concernThe real impact of a 27% staff reduction at NCUAHow agency expertise gaps are affecting morale and operationsThe upcoming interest rate ceiling decision and why it may be politically sensitiveWhy the agency may be “running itself” more than people realizeWhat happens if the Supreme Court changes how independent boards operatePredictions on who may replace Hauptman and what that means for credit unionsThe panel also discusses how political dynamics, Senate control, and White House strategy could shape the next NCUA board in ways credit unions haven't seen before.Despite the uncertainty, one theme is clear: the blocking and tackling of supervision continues, but major structural decisions are happening quietly beneath the surface. This episode is essential listening for anyone trying to understand where NCUA is headed in 2026.

www.marktreichel.comhttps://www.linkedin.com/in/mark-treichel/Kyle S. Hauptman Designated as NCUA Board ChairmanALEXANDRIA, Va. (Jan. 22, 2025) – President Donald J. Trump has National Credit Union Administration Vice Chairman Kyle S. Hauptman as the thirteenth Chairman of the NCUA Board.“I am deeply honored that President Trump has asked me to serve as Chairman of NCUA,” Chairman Hauptman said. “I look forward to leading the agency's dedicated professionals and working with my Board colleagues to create a regulatory structure that promotes growth, opportunity, and innovation within the credit union system.“My priorities as Chairman include:Re-examining the current NCUA budgeting process.Convening groups of NCUA employees to identify achievable internal efficiencies to reduce unnecessary frictions in the agency's operations.Promoting the appropriate use of artificial intelligence (AI) as a tool for NCUA employees. One goal is enhancing productivity, but it's also true that regulators who use technologies are more apt to understand why the regulated use them.Focusing on true financial inclusion, which means removing barriers to de novo credit unions and removing the ‘pain points' that have led to fewer and fewer small credit unions. NCUA should be mindful that the only people who think compliance is easy are those that don't have to do it.Codifying our procedures to protect Americans from regulation-by-enforcement. For example, no enforcement action should ever set - even clarify - policy. In America and other free societies, the sequence is: set speed limits, then give speeding tickets (no one has any obligation to be aware of someone else's ticket).Making clear that credit unions and their members are best positioned to assess their communities' climate risks.Re-assessing NCUA policies that may, even inadvertently, dissuade credit unions from serving low-income areas. This includes language around overdraft policies, particularly for credit unions located in states with especially punitive government late fees/penalties.Right-sizing credit unions' obligations where possible under the Bank Secrecy Act, including NCUA's regulations surrounding Suspicious Activity Reports.”

Mark Treichel hosts a detailed discussion on the NCUA's new advanced notice of proposed rulemaking on records retention for credit unions, revealing insights from the April 18th board meeting. This episode features insights from Vice Chairman Kyle Hauptman on the proposed regulatory changes aimed at easing the burden on small credit unions regarding record-keeping requirements. Hauptman highlights the challenges small credit unions face in understanding what records to keep, often erring on the side of caution by storing everything to avoid NCUA compliance issues. The discussion includes feedback from credit unions on their record storage practices and the financial and logistical burdens they face. The episode underscores the importance of the NCUA providing clear guidelines to help credit unions efficiently manage records without unnecessary costs or efforts. Treichel supports Hauptman's initiative, seeing it as a beneficial move for smaller credit unions, though he cautions about other regulatory pressures that may contradict these efforts. The episode concludes with Treichel encouraging audience feedback on the rulemaking process and sharing hopes for a future where regulations are more aligned with the operational realities of small credit unions.00:00 Maximizing Success with NCUA: Insider Tips and Support00:35 Introducing a New Approach to the Podcast00:40 NCUA's Proposed Rulemaking on Records Retention01:19 Insights from the NCUA Board Meeting and Remote Participation01:49 Vice Chairman Kyle Hauptman's Advocacy for Small Credit Unions03:37 Exploring the Advanced Notice of Proposed Rulemaking Questions08:10 A Deep Dive into Vice Chairman Houtman's Remarks19:42 Concluding Thoughts on NCUA's Impact on Small Credit Unions21:32 Signing Off with a Call for Future Engagement

What makes someone Jewish? From its painful historic connotations to its open invitation for exclusion, this is a loaded question. Yet, there is a deceptively simple answer: one is “technically” Jewish if their mother is Jewish. Of course, different sects of Judaism have different opinions on this answer. The complexity behind “What makes someone Jewish?” has only increased as artificial reproductive technology–or ART–has proliferated. Today, we have the opportunity to speak with three incredible people who have helped make the answer to this question more inclusive to those born through ART. Attorney Jessica Chod fought to include children born to Jewish mothers by non-Jewish Gestational Carriers in the Conservative movement's definition of “Jewish.” With the help of Rabbi Judith Hauptman and Rabbi Suzanne Brody, Jessica got the Committee on Jewish Law and Standards to change their halakhic position on non-Jewish surrogates! Take a listen to this fascinating episode to learn all about the driving force behind this journey and ultimately, the decision.
Kyle Hauptman, vice chairman of the National Credit Union Administration, comes on the show to discuss how his agency encourages credit unions to take steps to stay relevant in the digital era.
Med pandemijo so on, Brad Pitt in Flea (Red Hot Chili Peppers) osebno dostavljali hrano seseski s 1500 stanovanji.

The 55th anniversary of the Bricca murders just passed last week, and we thought it was an appropriate time to bring back local author ("Summer's Almost Gone") JT Townsend for a comprehensive discussion of another case. Technically, the kidnapping and murder of Charles Lindbergh Jr. in March of 1932 is not cold at all. Bruno Hauptman paid for the crime with his life. But in this episode JT unravels the case agains Hauptman and puts the blame directly on the shoulders of one man. Be careful to meet your heroes! JT Townsend's website https://jttownsend.com Take one of JT's Communiversity classes! https://www.uc.edu/about/continuing-ed/communiversity/course-catalog/special-interest-history/jt-townsend-detective-series.html JT Townsend on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/TrueCrimeDetective Show Notes House in Hopewell was in an extremely secluded, wooded area. Tuesday, March 1, 1932 No finger prints. Was there inside help? It was a weekend home. They usually stayed in Englewood with Anne's family during the week, but Charlie had a cold and they did not want to trravel this particular week? Who might have known they would be in Hopewell on a week night? Lindbergh was not the hero the press made him out to be. Loved to pull cruel pranks on people. Almost killed another pilot during flight school by substituting water in his water pitcher with kerosene. Nazi sympathizer during WW2, moved to Germany in 1936 and was celebrated by the Nazis. “Cometary John” - Did he even exist? 13 ransom notes? Wow! Was too much reverence for Lindberg's status observed by the authorities? Lindbergh concluded his son was kidnapped immediately upon hearing Charlie was missing from his crib. Did his peculiar reaction implicate him? Lindbergh paid the ransom without demanding proof that his son was alive. Isn't that odd? A thin man with a ladder in the passenger side of his car was witnessed by the Lindberg house around the time of the abduction. Might this have been Lindberg himself? The circumstantial evidence against Hauptman was strong. But there was evidence in something written on a wall in Hauptman's garage connecting him to Dr. John Condon. What was written? Were Hauptman and Lindberg working together? If so, why didn't he implicate Lindbergh during the trial or afterwards? Hauptmann was executed for the crime. His wife gave him an alibi and maintained his innocence to the grave. Lindbergh was a proponent of Eugenics (racial purity). May have donated his son to Dr. Correll, for eugenic studies. Was Charlie vivisected and left at the crime scene afterward? Dr. John Condon - the name on the wall of Hauptman's garage - the go between guy who also received ransom notes for the Lindberghs. A blow hard with a thirst for attention. Hauptman found guilty in 1935, and sentenced to death. John Douglas, whose book Mind hunter was translated into a Netflix series, did a profile of the case for an episode of Nova on PBS. Douglas believed Hauptmann was guilty, but had accomplices.
