Minulo leto je oddajo Izštekani zaznamovalo posebej močno. Ozirala se je v svojo tridesetletno zgodovino. Praznovala z novim mejnikom IZŠTEKANIH 30 v polnih Križankah. Izvedla nekaj res posebnih studijskih srečanj. Povila dva albuma. Ter leto sklenila s čudovito izdajo IZŠTEKANIH 10 v Kinu Šiška, posvečeno glasbenemu velikanu, s katerim skupaj štejeta stoletje. Vse to povzema posebna retrospektivna oddaja Izštekani v letu 2023. Januarja se je v Izštekane po krepkem desetletju vrnila ljubljanska indie zasedba AKA NEOMI. V bogatem, zelo organskem nastopu je zajela vse faze ustvarjanja, od začetkov do čisto svežih, tudi še neizdanih skladb. Med gosti sta bili Aleksandra Ilijevski iz skupine Pliš ter pevka in harfistka Astrid-. Februar je bil čas za kopanje po arhivu, natanko trideset let pozneje je bila na sporedu ponovitev prve oddaje Izštekani s SOKOLI. Aprila se je v velikem slogu izštekal mladi mariborski mojster r’n’bja HAUPTMAN. Z razširjeno zasedbo in godalnim kvartetom je predstavil nov repertoar v slovenščini, mikrofon pa si je delil tudi s pevkama Mašo But in Izo Leskovšek ter z raperjem Leopoldom I.. Maša je bila gostja tudi v majskem posebnem druženju štirih angažiranih kantavtorjev različnih generacij in slogov. Jani KOVAČIČ, Vlado POREDOŠ, Drago Mislej MEF in Primož SITER so se, kot se za Izštekane spodobi, oborožili z vesli, pardon, z akustičnimi kitarami in pod naslovom »Lahko noč, gospodje« izvedli preplet starih in novih pesmi, tudi takih, ki jih je rodilo prav to sodelovanje. Junij je prinesel težko pričakovano slavje v polnih ljubljanskih Križankah. IZŠTEKANIH 30 je na odru združilo skoraj petdeset glasbenikov. Smrdel Brothers Collective je izvedel veličastne aranžmaje, napovedanim petnajstim pevcem so se pridružili številni skriti gostje in presenečenjem ter vrhuncem ni bilo konca. Oktobra je svojo nemajhno skupnost v studio pripeljal tolkalec Martin Janežič BUCO. Pridružili so se mu člani osmih zasedb, katerih reden gost ali član je, od Siddharte do Sausages. December pa je bil čas za tradicionalni koncert IZŠTEKANIH 10. V polnem Kinu Šiška se je več kot ducat izvajalcev poklonilo velikanu Vladu Kreslinu, ki je dopolnil sedem desetletij. Tudi tokrat je oder zavzelo skoraj petdeset glasbenikov različnih zvrsti, prevladovali so mladi. Večer je rodil nebroj nepozabnih novih priredb Kreslinovih pesmi, ki se jih ne bomo naveličali še vsaj naslednjih trideset let. Leto je prineslo tudi dva digitalna albuma s posnetki iz Izštekanih. Koncertni večer, posvečen Vladu Kreslinu.Letošnji decembrski koncert IZŠTEKANIH 10, ki ga v Kinu Šiška tradicionalno prireja Val 202, je bil posvečen VLADU KRESLINU. Velikan slovenske muzike, ki združuje zvrsti in generacije, je letos praznoval 70 let. Le nekaj dni po rojstnem dnevu in izidu novega albuma se mu je poklonilo več kot ducat izvajalcev: MASAYAH, HAUPTMAN, SKOVA in SKOVANI, JARDIER, BATISTA CADILLAC, KOKOSY, CHRIS ECKMAN in JANA BELTRAN, DAN D, LEOPOLD I. in DRÜGI, ETHNOTRIP, TOMAŽ HOSTNIK in MARINA MARTENSSON. Koncert, ki je bil razprodan v rekordnih osmih urah, je kot običajno povezoval avtor in voditelj Izštekanih Jure Longyka. »Ko slišiš svojo skladbo v priredbi nekoga drugega, je to potrditev, da to nekaj je. Dokler jo izvajaš sam, nisi objektiven. Šele ko jo za svojo vzame nekdo drug, ko v njej najde sebe in sebe da vanjo, takrat veš, da je to zares – skladba,« pripoveduje Vlado Kreslin. Da, pravilno sklepate. Rdeča nit letošnjih Izštekanih 10 so bile nove priredbe brezčasnih Vladovih pesmi. Glasbeniki, ki so izbirali iz njegovega obsežnega kataloga, jih dotlej še niso izvajali, priredili so jih posebej za to priložnost. »Občutek je podoben kot takrat, ko prevedejo tvojo knjigo v drug jezik. To je res kompliment. Da je nekdo motiviran prirediti tvojo pesem. Da razkrije, koliko njega je v njej. Razkrije stične točke s tabo. Pesem lahko zazveni precej drugače, kot si si sam predstavljal. Vidiš, da je vrgla več trnkov, mnogo širše kot si si mislil.« Od rapa do r'n'bja. Od kantavtorstva do funka. Od americane prek etna do indie rocka. Med skoraj 50 glasbeniki najrazličnejših zvrsti so prevladovali mladi. »To me še posebej veseli,« pravi Vlado. »Zelo sem počaščen, da so se odzvali. In seveda sem bil na trnih, strašno me je zanimalo, kaj bodo naredili. Nabor imen je bogat, večplasten, kalejdoskopski. Ob prihajajoči obletnici so v glasbenem uredništvu Vala 202 o njem pripravili tudi serijo ekskluzivnih dokumentarnih podkastov Vlado. Pričakovanje nepričakovanega. Hoja po neuhojenih glasbenih poteh. Potem ko se je na lanski Emi prvič predstavil v slovenščini in je pesem “Sledim” postala najbolj predvajana skladba na Valu 202 v minulem letu, je Hauptman celotni novi album “Blizu” posnel v materinščini. V Izštekanih je predstavil vse pesmi z njega, nekatere čisto prvič. Seveda je dodal tudi nekaj nepogrešljivih s predlanskega prvenca “Finished, not Perfect”. Aranžmaji, pri katerih je sodeloval tudi skladatelj Leon Firšt, so predrugačeni, izštekani, obogateni z godalnim kvartetom. Izpod Hauptmanovih prstov se je razlegal tudi zvok koncertnega klavirja, nastop pa sozačinili gostje: radgonski raper Leopold I. ter pevki Maša But in Iza Leskovšek. Za ušesa obliznit! Izpod Hauptmanovih prstov se je razlegal tudi zvok koncertnega klavirja, nastop pa so začinili gostje: radgonski raper Leopold I. ter pevki Maša But in Iza Leskovšek. Za ušesa obliznit! Po končanem mariborskem konservatoriju je Žan Hauptman doštudiral jazzovsko petje v Celovcu. Od malih nog se je kot samouk izpopolnjeval v obvladovanju črnobelih tipk. Obe veščini danes več kot plodno uporablja pri ustvarjanju svoje glasbe. Ki jo, če že moramo, lahko označimo kot alternativni r’n’b, kot soul z močno izraženo jazzovsko noto. Leta 2021 je objavil dobro sprejeti prvenec “Finished, not Perfect”, ustvarjen z bendom in posnet v angleškem jeziku. Na lanski Emi se je prvič predstavil v slovenščini. Pesem “Sledim” je postala najbolj predvajana skladba na Valu 202 v minulem letu. “Pozitivni odziv me je spodbudil. Angleščine sem se verjetno oklenil, da sem laže začel. Bil sem manj kritičen do izrazov, ki v slovenščini dostikrat zvenijo pocukrano. Moral sem najti svojo pot do pisanja v slovenščini. Kako obrniti in izgovarjati besede, kako frazirati, da ne bo zvenelo preveč “slovensko”, da mi bo všeč in da bo smiselno. S tem sem tudi obogatil svoj zvok, v vsem skupaj je zdaj veliko več Žana,” pojasnjuje. Celotni drugi album “Blizu”, ki izide te dni, je tako posnel v materinščini. Pa to ni edina razlika glede na prvenec. “Od bendovskega zvoka sem se premaknil k bolj elektronskemu, album sva ustvarila z avstrijskim producentom Erikom Asatrianom. Morda se zdi to nenavadna odločitev, a meni je všeč in stojim za njo.” To rodi novo uganko. Kako album izvajati na koncertih? “Seveda, skladbe morajo dobro zveneti tudi v živo. Ne skušamo posnemati zvoka albuma, vse smo postavili na novo.” In ne le to, Hauptman je prenovljeni zasedbi, v kateri so kitarist Primož Hudoklin, basist Jaka Krušič, bobnar Pavel Čebašek ter pevki Alja Senčar in Vanesa Tomažič, zadal dvojno nalogo. Za Izštekane pripravljajo tudi akustične verzije nekaterih skladb. Polovica repertoarja bo obogatena z godalnim kvartetom, ki ga sestavljajo violinistki Ana Mezgec in Sandi Baitokova, violistka Gea Pantner Volfand ter violončelistka Katarina Kozjek, aranžmaje pa je prispeval Leon Firšt.  “Pri tem albumu je premik v akustiko poseben izziv. Zasedba je razširjena, z nekaterimi muziciram prvič. Glasbenikom sem v danih okvirjih dal precej svobode, zaupam jim, obenem pa je to neznanka, zaradi katere sem malo na trnih,” se smeje Žan. Pesmim z novega albuma so dodali tudi nekaj nepogrešljivih s prvenca. Ob Žanu pa so se v prvi liniji zvrstili še pevki Maša But in Iza Leskovšek ter raper Leopold I., s katerimi je v zadnjem času zabeležil vidna sodelovanja. What makes someone Jewish? From its painful historic connotations to its open invitation for exclusion, this is a loaded question. Yet, there is a deceptively simple answer: one is “technically” Jewish if their mother is Jewish. Of course, different sects of Judaism have different opinions on this answer. The complexity behind “What makes someone Jewish?” has only increased as artificial reproductive technology–or ART–has proliferated. Today, we have the opportunity to speak with three incredible people who have helped make the answer to this question more inclusive to those born through ART. Attorney Jessica Chod fought to include children born to Jewish mothers by non-Jewish Gestational Carriers in the Conservative movement's definition of “Jewish.” With the help of Rabbi Judith Hauptman and Rabbi Suzanne Brody, Jessica got the Committee on Jewish Law and Standards to change their halakhic position on non-Jewish surrogates! Konec januarja je košarkarski klub Cedevita Olimpija pod strop dvorane v Stožicah upokojil dres s številko 10, ki ga je nosil legendarni Dušan Hauptman. Duleta so prišli počastit številni navijači ter nekdanji soigralci. Med prepoznavnimi imeni slovenske košarkarske zgodovine, kot so Peter Vilfan, Slavko Kotnik, Roman Horvat, Zmago Sagadin, se je mudil tudi v zeleno, ekstravagantno obleko oblečen visok, na prvi pogled neznan obraz. To je bil nekdanji košarkar DeAnthony Langston. On in Eric Cooper sta bila prva Američana, ki sta zaigrala za ljubljanski klub. DeAnthony Langston je odraščal v zlogalsni soseski Watts v Los Angelesu, košarko je začel igrati relativno pozno. Po Olimpiji je šest let igral na Japonskem. Zdaj je še vedno aktiven v košarki. Je trener srednješolske ekipe, srečal pa se je tudi s slovenskim košarkarskim zvezdnikom. Pravi, da ima Luka Dončić enak učinek na ameriško košarkarsko kulturo, kot jo je imel Michael Jordan na evropsko. Tudi Jordana pozna osebno, saj sta skupaj igrala v filmu Space Jam. The 55th anniversary of the Bricca murders just passed last week, and we thought it was an appropriate time to bring back local author ("Summer's Almost Gone") JT Townsend for a comprehensive discussion of another case. Technically, the kidnapping and murder of Charles Lindbergh Jr. in March of 1932 is not cold at all. Bruno Hauptman paid for the crime with his life. But in this episode JT unravels the case agains Hauptman and puts the blame directly on the shoulders of one man. Be careful to meet your heroes! Tuesday, March 1, 1932 No finger prints. Was there inside help? It was a weekend home. They usually stayed in Englewood with Anne's family during the week, but Charlie had a cold and they did not want to trravel this particular week? Who might have known they would be in Hopewell on a week night? Lindbergh was not the hero the press made him out to be. Loved to pull cruel pranks on people. Almost killed another pilot during flight school by substituting water in his water pitcher with kerosene. Nazi sympathizer during WW2, moved to Germany in 1936 and was celebrated by the Nazis. “Cometary John” - Did he even exist? 13 ransom notes? Wow! Was too much reverence for Lindberg's status observed by the authorities? Lindbergh concluded his son was kidnapped immediately upon hearing Charlie was missing from his crib. Did his peculiar reaction implicate him? Lindbergh paid the ransom without demanding proof that his son was alive. Isn't that odd? A thin man with a ladder in the passenger side of his car was witnessed by the Lindberg house around the time of the abduction. Might this have been Lindberg himself? The circumstantial evidence against Hauptman was strong. But there was evidence in something written on a wall in Hauptman's garage connecting him to Dr. John Condon. What was written? Were Hauptman and Lindberg working together? If so, why didn't he implicate Lindbergh during the trial or afterwards? Hauptmann was executed for the crime. His wife gave him an alibi and maintained his innocence to the grave. Lindbergh was a proponent of Eugenics (racial purity). May have donated his son to Dr. Correll, for eugenic studies. Was Charlie vivisected and left at the crime scene afterward? Dr. John Condon - the name on the wall of Hauptman's garage - the go between guy who also received ransom notes for the Lindberghs. A blow hard with a thirst for attention. Hauptman found guilty in 1935, and sentenced to death. John Douglas, whose book Mind hunter was translated into a Netflix series, did a profile of the case for an episode of Nova on PBS. Douglas believed Hauptmann was guilty, but had accomplices. Is John Knoll a name of interest? Is John Knoll “Cemetary John”? Did Charlie Jr. have rickets? Violet Sharpe - A servant at Ann's house- Why did she commit suicide? Lindbergh's status complicated the investigation. Noone wanted to contradict him. “Lindberg Law” - Enacted the day after the kidnapping, made kidnapping a capital offense.
