Randall Cannon is a freelance journalist and author. His first book, Stardust International Raceway, explored the convergence of organized crime influences and motorsports interests in the international capital of legalized gambling, Las Vegas. Cannon's current offering, Caesars Palace Grand Prix, drills even more deeply into that nexus while also tracing the threads of history that culminated in the only Formula One events to date in that unique city. Mr. Cannon will present at the Symposium from that research, as well as the incremental steps forward from Caesars Palace that will result in the return of F1 to that destination mecca of gambling, the 2023 Las Vegas Grand Prix. Jeff and Mark return from a short winter break and reimagine the entire backside of Disney's Hollywood Studios theme park. The basic ambition is to “round out” the map of the park, allowing visitors to make their ways around the perimeter, much like the lands of Magic Kingdom, connecting Sunset Boulevard with Toy Storyland, experiencing an assortment of attractions, shows, and restaurants along the way. The episode begins with impressions of the newly opened Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser, just outside of Galaxy's Edge at Disney's Hollywood Studios. We then discuss the progress of Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT. Next we talk about Disney's “StoryLiving” real estate ambitions, and Mark recollects Disney's first dabbles into the real estate business with its early eighties acquisition of Arvida Properties prior to Celebration. Mark builds out the back of Hollywood Studios with a fully themed land called “Uptown”, home of The Incredibles on the outskirts of Municiberg. This includes several surprises including a nearby DVC resort. Jeff reveals an exciting adventure called “The Kingsman” pulled from Disney's recent acquisition of 20th Century Fox , providing a unique edgy experience for guests, allowing them to experience role playing, story building, and stunt experiences all at the same time! Jeff also gives some honorable mentions of alternate ideas of a land for The Simpson and Family Guy - more Fox properties, more experiments of “edginess” as a notion for land design. Join us as we talk with Alain Nu - The Man Who Knows Alain Nu website - https://www.themanwhoknows.tv/ See Alain online: The Forum Theater https://www.theforumvirtualtheatre.com/ Throughout his entire life, Alain Nu, The Man Who Knows, has been looking at life with an unusual perspective and doing amazing things. Starting at a very early age, with interests in uncanny phenomena, hypnosis, eastern mysticism and illusions, Alain realized for himself a fantastic world of possibilities and interesting explorations. Always trying to understand the line between what is real and what is not, what is possible and what is impossible, Alain Nu now challenges you to explore how we are all strangely connected through a mysterious energy which he then demonstrates with amazing accuracy! His audiences all share a common sense of awe, exclaiming: “I don't know how to explain that;” “No way, no way;” and “I don't believe in magic. But, I saw it happen. And, I believe what I saw.” Headlining at casinos and theaters all over the world, and as a regular at Caesars Palace Las Vegas for four years, The Man Who Knows is at the top of his performance game. Alain Nu is “the modest explorer, the gracious and kind tour guide leading the audience into investigations and ultimately mysterious realms,” says Donn Murphy, Ph.D., Executive Director of The National Theatre. “It works beautifully…with electric energy, enormous imagination and warm appeal.” Between January and May of 2014, Alain was an honored guest-headliner performing as the premier mind-reader in Norwegian Cruise Line's brand new specially designed, Illusionarium Theater, which showcases the world's most amazing talent. The show began January of 2014, with its maiden voyage on-board NCL's ‘The Getaway,' their latest model luxury ocean liner. Heading first, from Germany to Amsterdam, then to Superbowl XXLVIII in New York, and then finally to the Caribbean, where it docked between Miami, St. Maarten, St. Thomas, and the Bahamas. In his four-part television series, “The Mysterious World of Alain Nu,” he is seen dazzling the minds of on-the-street audiences all over America with a powerful and creative collection of stunts and feats that defies mental perception. In his book, Picture Your ESP! Reveal Your Hidden Powers with The Nu ESP Test, which was ranked #1 in Hot New Releases in ESP on Amazon.com, Alain Nu shows us how we all potentially have a surprisingly accurate intuition of our own that seems to defy rational understanding. How does he do it? While Alain Nu is reluctant to reveal his especially sensitive powers, he acknowledges that his uncanny effects incorporate elements of probability, psychology, suggestion, professional techniques and good timing. First, and most importantly, he considers himself an entertainer. So, what is it that Alain Nu knows? “I know that each of us has a super hidden potential that is real,” he says. But is it possible for us to develop these super powers? “I think that answer lies in our ability to dream,” says Alain Nu. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/thatssomecrazyshitpodcast/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/thatssomecrazyshitpodcast/support

Steve contrasts the Caesars experience of luxury with other properties before exploring more of its stand-out features. Near the end of the episode, we reflect on moments from the rich history of Caesars Palace. But Vegas is blessed with many glamorous institutions. A lot has changed since we were last in Las Vegas in June earlier this year. Today we chat about host Michael Mason Trager’s triumphant return to the City of Lights and how the city is handling the pandemic. While we previously criticized the experience of staying at Caesars in June, Michael starts our conversation by complementing his recent stay at the Caesars Property Paris Las Vegas. We then discuss what it was like staying there and encountering small inconsistencies with their COVID rules. After comparing the Wynn Tower Suites with Paris Las Vegas, we discuss what Caesars offers Diamond Plus players now that the Laurel Lounge (previously known as the Diamond Lounge) is closed. Michael shares some insights on the best places to spend your drinks vouchers, along with the perks of being a Caesars Rewards Seven Stars member (technically a Seven Stars Companion and Diamond Plus earned). We also touch on the mask and social distancing policies adopted by restaurants and gaming areas and strategies to stay in Vegas. Near the end of the episode, we ask Michael if he would go back to Vegas again soon. His answer? A resounding “hell, yeah!” Tune in to hear about Michael’s trip and why Las Vegas is worth visiting, despite the pandemic. Support the show! What everyone has been waiting for — Vegas is back for business. We sent out an advanced scout in the form of podcast host Michael and this episode; we dive into what you can expect from Vegas now that it’s reopened. Based on his nine-day trip, Michael talks about why he had a superb time in Vegas but that some peculiarities might take getting used to. Not being allowed to high-five the players at craps is just one of them. A more significant challenge for Michael was the lack of housekeeping at Caesars which was part of the reason that he moved over to Wynn Las Vegas later in his stay. As Michael details his trip, the focus of the conversation shifts to a comparison between Caesars Palace Las Vegas and Wynn Las Vegas and their vastly different approaches to their service and health policies. While Michael didn’t enjoy Caesars’ limited offerings, he shares how impressed he was with Wynn Las Vegas. From their “virtual” minibar to their turndown service, Michael explains the elegant and logical ways that Wynn provides services while maintaining guest and staff safety. After talking about how luxurious Vegas fine dining feels — with reduced capacity, you get so much of the restaurant to yourself — Michael discusses why Caesars may have gotten things so wrong. Often where you stay anchors your Vegas experience. This week, I am thrilled to welcome to the Ali on the Run Show my dear friend — and everyone’s favorite running blogger — Janae Baron! Before we get to that, please join me in congratulating Janae and her family on the arrival of their newest member, Skye, born December 9! Janae, of course, is the beloved personality behind the popular Hungry Runner Girl blog. Janae is a super speedy runner who lives in Utah with her husband, Andrew, their kids (Brooke, Knox, and now Skye!), and their dog, Beretta. Janae was nearly 37 weeks pregnant when we recorded this episode and, as always, was just as sweet, positive, and bubbly as she is on the internet — plus, she was willing to get super honest about everything. Throughout the episode, Janae and I chat about her struggles with amenorrhea, dating after divorce, running before, during, and after her pregnancies, how negative comments really make her feel, and both the beautiful and challenging parts of raising a blended family. She opens up about how she actually makes a living as a blogger, talks about the game-changing blog post that got 600 comments, debunks some common Mormon myths, and shares more about her past with disordered eating, and whether she now considers herself fully recovered. (I smiled this entire time, but then Janae made me weepy when she talked about how she found her place in Knox’s life. So prepare to experience every emotion throughout this episode!)
