The undisputed godfather of brilliant hilarity goes his own way, and a band that couldn't be more ridiculous on paper turns out to be the perfect band for what might be the best tribute ever. We're not kidding. Dare To Be Stupid, originally by Weird Al Yankovic, covered by Cybertronic Spree.  Outro music is Turbo Heart, also by Cybertronic Spree, because they really deserve another listen.

Dursin and Clay N. Ferno speak with members of the band Cybertronic Spree, who preview their upcoming show at Sonia in Cambridge on September 13th with Mega Ran! The band spills the Energon Tea about their unique formation, where Autobots and Decepticons put aside their differences to rock out together, bringing us all back to 1986. The transmission also delves into their love for mixing rock music with nostalgic themes, and their new album "Ravage". They touch on the logistics of touring, their quirky love for Earth's alcohol and animal friends, and the excitement of collaborating with artists like MegaRan. The band is thrilled about their new album Ravage and continues celebrating '80s pop culture through generation-spanning performances and a lot of fun! So listen while you roll out!00:00 Clay N. Joining us as a special guest for this episode is Dave's nephew Andruw (not a typo; it's really spelled with a "u"). We've mentioned him before as the other player in our weekly D&D campaign. Together we talk about the following... TV Shows & Movies "Total Drama Island" "Enola Holmes" on Netflix "Away" on Netflix "The Boys" on Amazon Prime "The Office" "Muppets Now" on Disney+ (and the Muppets in general) Books "Out of the Silent Planet" by C. We pack a lot of geekdom into 52 minutes. We recorded this bonus episode on the same day we recorded a review of the Jim Henson movie The Dark Crystal, which just happened to be the day after Jim Henson's birthday, so we spent nine minutes just talking about the Muppets. It was five weird days with 85,000 weird humans... we have so much to cover from DragonCon that we're splitting it into two episodes! This week's review includes: The DragonCon Newbie Walking Tours; the ESO Network Meet and Greet; Doctor Who's David Tennant; legendary comic book artist George Pérez; Rankin/Bass animation expert Rick Goldschmidt; the Sci-Fi Explosion show (featuring Billy Ocean, believe it or not); the DragonCon parade; the cast of Gotham; unpopular opinions with MST3K's Bill Corbett; our Sci-Fi Legends memorial panel; a Batman-themed Roll-a-Panel; Kevin's other panels on Arrow, Titans, Gotham, the Planet of the Apes cartoon, and Cousin Oliver (!); the Mayor's panel on Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure; robot rock band Cybertronic Spree; late nights with Crusher, Picard, and Good Enough Cosplay; the DragonCon premiere of the documentary Troublemaker (starring our friend Dave); and yes, lots more. And that's just the first half! More DragonCon silliness next week, if we ever stop napping.

Thrasher discuss The Great Heep, the final "movie length" special of the 1980s animated Star Wars: Droids series.  A prequel to the final arc of episodes, R2-D2 and C-3PO are captured by the gargantuan Great Heep droid. So is their master Mungo Baobab and loads of other droids. Although there are some fine droid models and better animation than usual, this feature can be a bit of a slog. C-3PO has more of a lead role than usual. Not the most compelling story to end the series on. Next week they'll be back on their regular Star Wars: Droids schedule. Commander Quark (Richard Benjamin) and crew have to defeat the evil Gorgons with a little help from The Source (Hans Conreid).  The Star Wars connection here is rather light apart from the Darth Vader knockoff villains and an uninspiring duel near the end. Special effects are shockingly good for a sci-fi comedy show. There is promise to be had with characters like sentient plant Ficus Pandorata (Richard Kelton) and the nebbish Otto Bob Palindrome (Conrad Janis), but the plot takes forever to get going.  Follow the show on Twitter @Sequelcast2 Like our Sequelcast 2 Facebook Page The theme song to In Trouble Again: A Star Wars Droids Podcast is performed by The Cybertronic Spree. Biological warfare is unleashed on innocents as our heroes and villains continue their quest to actually hang onto some damn Roonstones. Gruesome and dark in a way most of this series hasn't been, The Frozen Citadel is a fine capper to the final cycle of episodes. Continuing their search for the Roonstones, Mungo Baobab runs into Old Ogger, learns of a surprising familial connection, and gets an annoying comedy droid Lin-D to join them on their quest. Fresh off a discussion of the first story arc of Star Wars: Droids, hosts Mat Bradley-Tschirgi and William T. Thrasher take a break and discuss Evil Plans, an episode of Star Wars: The Clone Wars focusing on R2-D2 and C-3PO. In order to tilt Senator Aang's vote on the Military Support Committee to favor the Republic, Senator Amidala requires fresh Jogan fruit for a cake. R2-D2 and C-3PO are up to the task. However, bounty hunter Cad Bane has other plans for the plucky droids. A slight episode of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Evil Plans manages to have scenes of C-3PO torture juxtaposed against R2-D2 getting a deep clean at a massage parlor from sexy robot vixens. The jarring tone shifts wrap up a bit too easy as an exposition heavy meeting between Cad Bane and the Hutt gangster families end this show on a bit of a sour note.  Follow the show on Twitter @Sequelcast2 Like our Sequelcast 2 Facebook Page The theme song to In Trouble Again: A Star Wars Droids Podcast is performed by The Cybertronic Spree. Hosts Mat Bradley-Tschirgi and William T. Thrasher talk about Escape Into Terror, the second episode of Star Wars: Droids. The Fromm Gang continues their work on the Trigon One super weapon. C-3PO, R2-D2, Jord, Thall, and Kea manage to sneak into the enemy base to steal the Trigon One. This is a meandering episode. A ship ventures through an asteroid field, and we get another chase sequence. The very definition of filler, this show sets up the events to come. Unremarkable at best. Hosts Mat Bradley-Tschirgi and William T. Thrasher talk about the first episode of Star Wars: Droids. Having been jettisoned by their prior master, C-3PO and R2-D2 explore the arid wastelands of Ingo. They team up with starship jockeys Jord Dust and Thall Joben to investigate the secret base of up and coming crime lord Tig Fromm. This initial episode struggles a bit to introduce a host of new characters, a new planet, and a new story all in one show. Still, there are promising glimpses on the horizon. Anthony Daniels really gets to ham it up as C-3PO negotiates with deadly droids. The massive roster of sound effects from the Star Wars library don't hurt things either. Hosts Mat Bradley-Tschirgi and William T. Thrasher of Sequelcast 2 fame discuss why they are launching a new podcast looking at the short-lived Star Wars animated series Star Wars: Droids in this premiere episode of In Trouble Again A Star Wars: Droids Podcast. Despite lasting for a scant lone season and change, this animated series featured high quality animation and actual continuity, both rarities for 1980s Western animated series. Taking place between Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope, the series takes a look at the adventures of C-3PO and R2-D2 across multiple planets as they swear fealty to multiple masters. Although it never has had a full season release on home video in the United States, we still feel it is a series worth exploring in this special limited run podcast and hope you enjoy taking this journey with us in a galaxy far, far away. One shall stand and one shall fall! Taking it back to our nostalgic love of the Transformers. Do you have the Touch? For our third episode, we take on the animated classic, Transformers the Movie. This was a pivotal piece in all three of our lives, so we have a lot to say about it! It's not quite as long as our first episode, but with more than an hour's worth of movie talk and gaming breakdown, we hope you enjoy this trip through our toy-heavy nostalgia. Also, this time around we tried a tweak to the format, breaking things up into three segments instead of two. We're still very much finding our perfect groove, but I think we're getting close! Please let us know what you think. We want to give a super awesome extra special shout out to The Cybertonic Spree, saying thanks for letting us use clips from their amazing cover of "The Touch" in our episode.
