This week we talk about the time the Paranormal Activity series took a deliberate turn away from focusing on wealthy, white, upper middle class families and turned toward the Latino communities of Los Angeles. Writer / director Christopher Landon called The Marked Ones more of a “cousin” of the previous four films rather than a true sequel, and perhaps making that diversion allowed or something looser and unbound by the formula that had gotten stale by the previous entry. The Marked Ones shifts the focus directly onto witchcraft and possession horror while being far less about a haunted house where things that go bump in the night. It also gives us much more of a communal feel, introduces more comedic undertones and offers up three of the better protagonists in Jesse, Hector, and Marisol. It's too bad they couldn't stick the landing and introduced some really silly things like time travel. Goddammit. All this, plus Mike and Devaughn talk about the dumbest stunts we've ever pulled, Cousin Oliver and the Brady Bunch, going all “Mercked Ones” for a few glorious moments, and Mike's wife sleep-singing when she has nightmares. The Untitled Beatles Podcast is going to the top! What top? (Spoilers) THE TOP! ...The top of the podcast charts, bay-beeeee! Because it's time to review and dish deep 1979's lost-in-the-sands-of-time TV docudrama, "Birth Of The Beatles". What makes this ridiculous, dated, Pete Best-biased movie such a fun watch? Is it gangster John? The music by Rain? The commercials by Mitsubishi? And speaking of really important Beatle stuff:
Two healthy friends, the Cousin Oliver of COVID, and Angela Lansbury as: Soul Caliber.

Once and forever a Brady! Christopher Knight met life as a child actor, starring as "Peter Brady" in the TV classic hit show The Brady Bunch. A reluctant icon, Christopher has focused his adult years on interests beyond the entertainment industry, particularly the corporate world of computers and high technology. My guest, Christoper Knight, and I discuss: Christopher Knight talks about his appearance on The Masked Singer with fellow Brady boys Barry Williams and Mike Lookinland. Christopher reflects on the pressure put on the Brady kids to become singers and his struggle with that based on his lack of singing talent. Christopher opens up about his home life during his Brady run and the pressure his Mom put on him to be a singer and her disappointment in The Brady Bunch, which she didn't deem real art. Christopher's dad had a guest role on the Brady Bunch. Auditioning as a kid for so many TV shows before landing his iconic role as Peter Brady. He occasionally bumped into a very young Jodie Foster during auditions. Learning to impersonate Humphry Bogart with the help of Lloyd Schwartz - "pork chops and applesauce." Christopher's pivotal role in Sharknado 6: It's About Time as Nova's Grandpa Clarke. We discuss Cousin Oliver, Robbie Rist, and the changing dynamic of The Brady Bunch at the time Robbie joined the show. Robert Reed's tension on the set but his love for his Brady family. The HGTV's A Very Brady Renovation and the secret behind the lack of toilets in The Brady Bunch. Christopher Knight's post-Brady success in the furniture business with Christopher Knight Home. "Fake Jan" and the Brady Bunch Variety Hour and the reason Eve Plumb skipped this opportunity to be a Brady. Christopher's podcast with Barry Williams, The Brady Bros. and so much more! Here's the story of a man named Brady, a lovely lady, six adorable kids, and the wild, surprisingly raunchy way that they became The Brady Bunch. Jordan and Heigl dive into their craziest episode yet, outlining all the weird pseudo-incestural relationships between the kids in the cast (including Barry Williams' famous date with his TV mom), the real-life drama between two of the Brady sisters, and the all the reasons why Mike Brady was such a pain in the ass that the show's creator planned to kill him off. They'll also get into all the ways the actors nearly died during the show, the scene that Barry Williams filmed while stoned (as well as a supposedly "banned" scene), the extremely dark (and extremely short-lived) Brady Bunch spinoff series in the '90s, the curse of Cousin Oliver, the time the Brady mom got an STD from a New York City Mayor, and the story behind those ridiculous perms. Get ready for sex, drugs and a little rock 'n' roll — Brady style. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Big Big episode folks! This is an interview that is one year in the making and the guest is one that I am very excited about. When I was growing up in the 70s and 80s (which was amazing for many reasons) TV was just a different experience then. For one, there was only a few channels, there was no recording shows, there was no fast forwarding through show so you had to be there to watch and before NBC created “Must see TV” there was our own version of must see TV on channel 38 and 56 both UHF stations out of Boston – if you are under 35 and don't know what UHF is, look it up…you needed an actual antenna to watch…anyway, part my after school ritual with my brother and anyone else was around involved watching a Certain Show…it's the story of lovely lady who was bringing up three very lovely girls…that's right that show was "The Brady Bunch" a TV classic and groundbreaking show in many ways…a cultural touchstone for certain. Our guest tonight is Wendy Winans from Bradyworld.com and she is one of the biggest (IF NOT THE BIGGEST) Brady Bunch fan on the planet and she has a cool website to prove it! Wendy and I talk about the origins of Bradyworld.com, her amazing Brady Bunch collection that will be featured on this weeks version of "Collectors Call" on Metv! (go check it out!), we discuss the infamous Tiki Doll necklace (bad luck OR good luck?), we review the mystery of Carols first husband, the sad story of Tiger the dog(s), the amazing list of celebrity guest performers, the genius of Sherwood Schwartz, Fake Jan, MARCIA MARCIA MARCIA, the amazing talent of Barry Williams, the business acumen of Peter Brady, all the kids hooking up with each other, was Bobby a Dead Head?, MARCIA MARCIA MARCIA, a fact that no one knows about the Brady Bunch, the generosity of Robert Reed, the curse of Johnny Bravo, Wendy's favorite episodes, the efficiently powerful impact of Sam the Butcher, the miracle of all Brady child actors avoiding the very common pitfalls of child stardom, which character would she most want to hang out and and of course we tackle the subject of Cousin Oliver among many other hidden secrets and stories about the greatest TV show ever made*! We hope you enjoyed the conversation as much as we did and make sure to check out Wendy's edition of "Collectors Call" on MeTV! #Bradybunch #bradyworld #marciamarciamarcia #tikidoll #samthebutcher #metv #collectorscall #fakejan #cousinoliver #barrywilliams #johnnybravo #tigerthedog #lisawhelchel #UHF #aftershoolspecial #Alice #sherwoodschwartz #1970sTV

“It's a bird, a stork!”: NO! It's The Mummy Returns, where Egyptian history is made up and the reincarnation points don't matter. #Hindsighters, your beloved Darth Jader is not embarrassed to admit that, as a child, she thought scarab beetles would be a much larger problem in her adult life than even quicksand, all due to what cartoons and mummy movies may have taught her.Despite their combined efforts, Darth, Adam, and Katie cannot discern whether dying by scarabs, quicksand, or piranhas is worse. Ultimately, there is no need to fret, loyal listeners, because we know that our Desert Daddy will always come to the rescue, no matter our continent of adventure or residence. Enough about Oded Fehr (no such thing). Let's talk about Brendan Fraser, and Rachel Weisz, and John Hannah, and Patricia Velasquez. Don't feel neglected, Arnold Vosloo, because no one could forget your remarkably smooth portrayal of Imhotep; we would build sandcastle faces and crash dirigibles with you any time. Meanwhile, no one is concerned about the Cousin Oliver of The Mummy franchise, despite the fact that Alex is the necessary through-line for the plot of this picture (not to mention the somewhat adorably smart-arsed amalgam of Rick, Evie, and Jonathan). The inevitable lessons that you must take from The Mummy Returns are as follows: 1.Whether facing pygmies or velociraptors, don't go in the long grass. 2.Knowing Ancient Egyptian is handy whether you're reincarnating your recently murdered mother or destroying the god-awful CGI version of Dwayne Johnson. 3.DO NOT stick your fingers or hands into the eye sockets of the undead or ancient Egyptian glory holes. In either instance, you'll end up covered in goo. Oddly enough, The Mummy and The Mummy Returns drive home the most important lesson of life: Mortality blows. Fellas, take note that even reincarnated lives can be short. It doesn't matter what army you control or which bug king you kill. If Imhotep liked it, he should have put a ring on it (but only with the Scorpion King's diamond on top because now Jonathan's going to lose that bling in a card game). Until next time, fellow Egyptologists. This has been #Hindsight, and good night. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

NSFW! I thought we'd take a much needed break from the worsening madness all around us by rewinding exactly six months to one of my favorite shows of 2019. I'm talking about my interview with Robbie Rist, who played Cousin Oliver on The Brady Bunch. I spoke with Robbie on the 50th Anniversary of the premiere of the show, and he was so awesome I just had to share this episode again. We could all use the laughs, I think. NSFW! It's the 50th anniversary of The Brady Bunch, and to commemorate this milestone, I spoke with the great Robbie Rist who played Cousin Oliver in season five of the show. We talked about Robbie's time as a Brady as well as his myriad other roles including The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Doc McStuffins, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and so much more. If you dig today’s show, please help support this podcast by subscribing at bobcescashow.com.
It's the Season 4 finale, and the boys start out with their biggest disagreement yet — over the merits of pancakes, waffles, and French Toast (Brian's note, since I write the show notes: Galen is SO wrong on this) and have a wonderful debate over the epistemology of breakfast. They also answer some really important questions: Why do people store things in their ovens? What is the most depressing meat to eat? What 1990s show will be rebooted as the next terrible movie? What, in god's name, is Pickle Loaf? Who will be our Cousin Oliver? Thanks for listening! We'll be back in a few weeks with Season 5
This week on The Avatar Returns, it's a Badass Bender Beatdown as The Legend of Korra Book Four continues. In this corner, wearing the simple green tunic, the Ever-Lovin' Blue-Eyed Avatar (we still have one of those?), Korra! And in this corner, sporting a stylish Earth Empire ensemble of death metal, dancin' and singin' and movin' to the groovin', the Great Uniter herself, Kuvira! But first we take a road trip with the Air Kids in chapter 404, “The Calling” as Aang's grandkids finally get the spotlight. And Toph proves why she's a master storyteller. Then in chapter 405, “Enemy at the Gates,” Zhu Li does the mecha suit thing better than anyone else, and poor dim Bolin slooooooowly starts to figure stuff out. And finally, in chapter 406, “Battle of Zaofu,” Kuvira smacks the taste right outta Korra's mouth. LET'S GET READY TO RUMBLE! Paul murders Cousin Oliver after only one week. Eric murders a decades-old Brady Bunch meme. And Arlo murders any sense of even the most basic professionalism and respect for our audience. (Turn off your damn phone notifications, you ass!) Next: for hopefully the very last time we take a week off to catch our breath. You guys just don't understand how difficult it is to sit still for two hours once a week and talk into a microphone about things that we love passionately. It's exhausting and just way too much to expect us pampered podcasters to pull off with any kind of consistency. So we'll take one last pause in the action to prepare ourselves for an uninterrupted run through to the end. Back the week of April 12th we will be discussing The Legend of Korra chapters 407, “Reunion,” 408, “Remembrances,” and 409, “Beyond the Wilds.” The Breakdown Intro / Banter (00:00 - 14:40) Main Topic (14:40 - 1:21:40) Outro / Next (1:21:40 - 1:25:21)
Book Four: Balance begins as we move into the final season of The Legend of Korra. Time jumps in fiction tend to be something of a mixed bag, but as our story picks up three years after the end of Book Three it quickly becomes apparent the device works like a charm here, in what Arlo dubs the strongest start to any season in the entire Avatar Universe. In chapter 401, “After All These Years,” Korra is missing and former Zaofu Captain of the Guard Kuvira has become “The Great Uniter,” using military force to bring order to the chaos in the Earth Kingdom in the wake of the Queen's death. Chapter 402, “Korra Alone” answers where exactly the Avatar has disappeared to, and why. (Hint: it involved Nega-Korra.) And finally it's Toph love in chapter 403, “The Coronation” as the O.B. Original Beifong returns to go all Yoda on Korra's ass. Paul introduces the podcast's version of Cousin Oliver. He and Eric both wax rhapsodic about Star Wars Rebels. And Arlo compares Mako to Vin Diesel. Not in a good way. (IS there a good way?) Next: the next three chapters of Book Four; 404, “The Calling,” 405, “Enemy at the Gates,” and 406, “The Battle of Zaofu.” The Breakdown Intro / Banter (00:00 - 15:20) Main Topic (15:20 - 1:42:53) Outro / Next (1:42:53 - 1:46:23)
This was a really fun episode. First, we talk about childhood nostalgia such as pogs, garbagepail kids, big wheels, and dogs roaming the suburbs. Then, Robbie Rist joins us and he was absolutely fascinating. Robbie is an actor who has been involved in so many projects that are part of American pop culture. Robbie was Cousin Oliver on the Brady Bunch, the voice of Michelangelo, the Ninja Turtle, and is now the voice Stuff the Dragon on Disney's Doc McStuffins. Take one look at Robbie's IMDB profile and you'll be amazed at just how much he has been involved with. He was extremely energetic and entertaining. This week we get some Hot Goss from Burnsy, listen to some live comedy from Joe King and Pauly, discuss what Michael Bay is doing to the Ninja Turtles, get the ultimate Manswer, hear from the dumbest girl ever, and other nonsense as always. 00:01:30 - Vince talks a little about his 3 Nights of Comedy tour over the past weekend. 00:06:05 - Hot Goss with Burnsy has the latest NFL news on Alex Smith, celebrity deaths and pregnancy rumors, that kid from Minnesota asking adult actresses to the prom, Michael Bay's tiger, and what Amanda Seyfried has in the trunk of her car. Burnsy also reveals a trait that he shares with Lady Gaga, and gives us some insight on inner workings of the Hot Goss factory. 00:35:35 - Michael Bay has created a ruckus among TMNT fans for adding a new element to the heroes in a half shell, leading Cousin Oliver from the The Brady Bunch to cry "RAPE!" Bret has a story about nerd rage over Transformers on a Japanese art blog. 00:47:56 - Brendan arrives. 00:49:57 - Take a listen to some stand-up by Joe King (featuring Vince's giggles) and Pauly Dangerously. 01:07:51 - Vince plays the clip of the young lady who can't quite figure out MPH. Manswers answers the age-old question of "Can you fart so hard your balls explode?" 01:21:54 - Vince saw John Carter over the weekend, and despite its marketing failure he found it to be an entertaining sci-fi pulp movie. Ben gives us some of his favorite moments from the film. Brendan deals with a blind woman while waiting for the bus. Drunk On! - Adam For movie news you can make fun of, go to www.filmdrunk.com.
