The false dichotomy between medicine and miracles has troubled believers for generations, leaving many caught between their faith and practical healthcare decisions. In this profound conversation with Dr. David Chotka, we unravel this tension by exploring how scripture itself demonstrates the harmonious relationship between divine intervention and medical treatment.Dr. Chotka shares his own dramatic healing story—diagnosed with Ramsey-Hunt syndrome that paralyzed his face, doctors declared his preaching career over. Medical science offered no hope for recovery. Yet through specific prayer and prophetic words, he experienced complete restoration that his physician acknowledged was "beyond scientific explanation." Despite this miraculous experience, Dr. Chotka readily takes antibiotics when needed, modeling a balanced approach to health and healing. The heart of our discussion reveals five distinct pathways God uses for healing: instantaneous miracles, natural restoration processes, medical treatments developed through human ingenuity, suffering that lacks immediate explanation, and the final crossing into eternity. These pathways aren't competing alternatives but complementary approaches that often intertwine throughout our healing journeys.Perhaps most moving is Dr. Chotka testimony of his wife's healing from muscular dystrophy after twenty years of prayer without visible results. The breakthrough came not when they intensified their requests, but when they shifted focus to "seek the healer, not the healing." This profound reorientation—asking how they could serve God with diminishing capacity rather than demanding restoration—preceded the miraculous intervention that defied medical explanation.Whether you're struggling with an ongoing health challenge, supporting someone who is, or simply seeking to understand how faith and medicine work together, this episode offers both practical wisdom and spiritual encouragement. Join us in discovering how to pray effectively for healing while honoring both the supernatural power of God and the natural remedies He's provided through human innovation.Let me know what you think of this episode? On this episode of Grieving Voices, I welcomed David Chotka, founder and director of Spirit Equip Ministries. With four degrees and extensive experience as a pastor and conference speaker, David shares insights from his journey through grief personally and within his community.David discusses the challenges pastors face daily in dealing with grief within their congregations. He recounts his first funeral service—a daunting task for someone who had not yet experienced personal loss—and how that "baptism by fire" shaped his understanding of mourning. Our conversation turns to David opening up about a pivotal moment when he lost his brother to suicide. This tragedy occurred just as he was adopting a daughter, adding complex layers to an already emotional time. Despite having to maintain composure for important church services amidst this personal crisis, David candidly describes how the event left him grappling with questions about faith, forgiveness, life after death, and God's mercy. In a powerful account of healing in nature two years after his loss, David shares an epiphany that brought peace back into his soul regarding eternal destiny while walking through the Heartlake Conservation Area and reading Psalms 130.The conversation also touches on navigating sudden losses like suicides within families—emphasizing compassion over judgment—and offers comfort to those wondering about loved ones' fates after such actions. Finally, David speaks on divine appointments—the idea that God orchestrates encounters where we can give or receive something significant—and gives listeners insight into finding meaning in seemingly random moments. This heartfelt discussion provides solace for anyone grieving, highlighting the importance of spiritual guidance during one's darkest hours.RESOURCES:Books, including "Healing Prayer: God's Idea For Restoring Body, Mind and Spirit"CONNECT:WebsiteFacebookInstagramYouTube_______NEED HELP?National Suicide Prevention Lifeline: 1-800-273-8255Crisis Text Line provides free, 24/7 support via text message. In this episode, Ty-Shaun-Dra and Dr. David Chotka discuss the topic of God speaking to us. They explore the common belief that God doesn't speak to individuals and share personal stories of hearing God's voice. Dr. Chotka emphasizes the importance of scripture and the Holy Spirit in hearing God's voice and provides practical ways to cultivate a listening ear. They also discuss the emotional experience of salvation and the joy and exultation that comes from encountering God's presence. Dr. David Chotka discusses the various ways in which God speaks to individuals and the importance of discerning His voice. He shares personal stories and biblical examples to illustrate how God communicates through divine appointments, confirmation, repentance, and the witness of the Spirit. Dr. Chotka emphasizes that God's desire to communicate with us is greater than our willingness to hear, and encourages listeners to tap into the ways in which God speaks to them personally. He also provides a process for hearing God's voice, centered around the Word of God.TakeawaysGod speaks to everyone, even those who don't know Him.The struggle for believers is to discern God's voice from their own thoughts. The primary means by which God speaks is through the intersection of scripture and the Holy Spirit.Hearing God's voice involves both thinking about and feeling His presence.Experiencing joy and exultation is a sign of encountering God's voice. God speaks to individuals in various ways, including through divine appointments, confirmation, repentance, and the witness of the Spirit.God's desire to communicate with us is greater than our willingness to hear, and He will shape events in our lives to set us up to hear His voice.Connect with Dr David ChotkaVisit www.spiritequip.comIg @david_chotkaYouTube: @spiritequipbydavidchotka4626Fb @spiritequip Support the Show.Join the Kingdom Fanatics community! I have a confession to make. Don't tell - at least not too many. Most of us Catholics aren't very good at praying for (and expecting!) really big miracles. We tend to get lost in repetitive prayer (which is good) and forget that Christ gave the power for miracles to us too - not just to Protestants. Join me in this podcast as Dr. David Chotka shares some powerful stories - both about prayer and mentorship in his life and healing prayer in general. He has powerful stories about the miraculous way God can act in anyone's life. Now get busy praying! You can find more about David and his book at his website: https://www.spiritequip.com/

Message from David Chotka on May 15, 2022
Have you ever asked God to send you a sign? Do you have concern if you are living in the will of Spirit? Does is sometimes seem that God isn't hearing your prayers, or you don't know what to pray? Is your intuition just your own desire or actually a nudge from Spirit?Today's podcast is a conversation with Rev. Dr. David Chotka, interfaith minister, international speaker and founder of Spirit Equip. This conversation is non-denomination. As Rev. Dr. Chotka suggests, God speaks non-verbally through the increase and diminishing of His presence - and we can learn to discern the voice of God and the highest and best path for our lives by the way we experience peace and joy in our physical bodies, minds and "gut feelings.""God is light, and in him there is no darkness."Living "in the light" is the way to peace and happiness, and when we are not experiencing these feelings or knowings, called interior consolation vs. desolation. Distraction, bad feelings, lower vibrational emotions like boredom, despair and aloneness as taught by the Ignation Spirituality. When we're in the middle of consolation, you experience peace, joy and light.Take a listen, practice the journaling exercise and see if you can find peace and consolation and joy/peace in your life. When you're being guided by God, you are promised the peace that passeth understanding. Be well! For more information about Rev. Chotka, visit his website.
