Vibes for the week:Britt - Netflix The Roast of Tom BradyLaura - The Daily - Sunday Special 'Modern Love' podcast epKeeshia - Pill Box from Dosey Then we jump into your questions! HE WANTS TO CHEAT WITH MEMy husband and I travel frequently with another family who have children the same age. It started out as my husband and his friends but over time the wife has become one of, if not, my best friend. They live interstate but we talk most days. We are 2 weeks away from an international holiday with them, when he asks me in a private message if I was with my husband at the time, and to message back when I was alone. He asked if I would like to ‘hook up' whilst overseas and at the same time said don't say a word to them (meaning his wife and my husband). I actually asked if he was joking to which he replied “no, but now it's awkward”. I brushed it off and politely declined. As I stand, it's nearly 24 hours after the message. I am planning on telling my husband that we will need to rearrange our holiday and accommodation plans. She is going to know something has happened, so when she asks me why we are cancelling on them what do I say? If roles were reversed I would 100% want to know. We have always suspected he's probably not 100% faithful to her but to make matters worse she is pregnant. I know the information is going to ruin her life. PARTNER DOESN'T WANT ME TO DONATE MY EGGS TO MY BROTHERI have two older gay brothers. Since I was about 16 (I am now in my mid 20s) I've said that I would like to donate eggs in the future to them, so they can have biological kids with their partner. (I always figured since we look very similar and I don't plan on having kids it would be a nice way to have biological children in the family). One of my brothers and his partner are ready to start the process to have kids. However, my partner of 2 years that I plan on marrying is very uncomfortable and does not agree with this decision. He sees that it will be my kid. I am not sure what to do. Do I listen to my partner's concerns and come to terms with not helping my brothers or follow through with this said promise? What are your thoughts? Am I crazy for offering and not seeing it as being my child?   IS IT OK TO KEEP EX HUSBANDS SURNAMEMy ex husband and I split a number of years ago and had one child together. I took his surname when we married. We have both since re-coupled and he is now engaged. This has made me wonder - is it time to change my name back? The problem is, I LOVE my current name and it feels like a bit part of who I am; personally and professionally. I also really love having the same surname as the child we happily co-parent. Is it weird if I just keep the name? My new partner and I also have a child together, and marriage will be on the cards one day but I don't want to change my name multiple times… and I much prefer my current name

What I know for sure is there are targeted steps we can take to improve pregnancy success with your eggs when we address underlying healing opportunities using functional medicine and functional nutrition. However, we may decide that donor eggs are the best option. We've helped many couples get pregnant using donor eggs (after they've made targeted changes to their health). After all, donor eggs are not a guarantee of pregnancy success. A healthy foundation for both partners must be established first. But what about the emotional aspect of selecting donor eggs to grow your family? How do we navigate the journey to pregnancy success when we've selected donor eggs as our next step? I'm excited to welcome Adele O'Connor to the podcast. Adele is a fertility coach and podcast host of Donor Egg Mama. She supports intended parents considering a donor egg pathway to break free from overwhelm and guide them to a place of calm confidence to move forward and build their families.   In this episode, you'll learn: 1) The biggest mindset hurdles for women who select donor eggs (i.e. will I bond with my baby?) 2) Advice to couples beginning their donor egg journey 3) How to improve pregnancy success with donor eggs --- RESOURCES: Fab Fertile Method https://www.fabfertile.com/what-we-do/   Ultimate Guide to Getting Pregnant This Year If You Have Low AMH/High FSH - https://fabfertile.clickfunnels.com/optinvbzjfsii   Top Fertility Supplements You Need To Get Pregnant This Year - Access your free guide here at www.suppguideffl.com or email hello@fabfertile.ca to get your copy.   Where should I start to optimize pregnancy success? In this episode, I chat with Rebecca, a mother from Alabama who is a 41-year-old preschool director. She's happily married and a mother of two: a daughter from her own egg and a son conceived through a donor egg.She found out at 28 that her fallopian tubes were blocked, and that IVF would be her only way of getting pregnant, thus beginning her journey. After 18 months of trying to conceive naturally, Rebecca wasrecommended to a clinic in Colorado known for successfully helping women with diminished ovarian reserve. With the IVF treatment framed as a holiday and an opportunity to relax and explore another part of the States, Rebecca and her husband embarked on the journey. She credits the vacation environment as acontributing factor to successfully conceiving her daughter.Taking a five-year break to prepare financially and emotionally for a donor egg cycle, Rebecca aimed tocomplete her family of three. Desiring a sibling for her daughter, she recognized that using a donor eggwas the way forward. The couple once again embarked on an IVF adventure, this time choosing SanDiego Fertility Centre for the donor egg transfer.Despite a heart-wrenching setback with her initial donor selection, they eventually experienced asuccessful transfer, welcoming their son into the family. Rebecca shares with us how she explained theegg donation concept and the dynamics within their family to her children.Rebecca's children are well-aware of the process that led to their conception, and this transparency hasnurtured a strong and trusting family relationship. For her, a family's essence is defined more by thelove, care, and dedication shared among its members than by genetics.Rebecca's story offers valuable advice to others on a similar path. She encourages parents to trust theirinstincts, embrace the uniqueness of their family dynamic, and maintain open communication with theirchildren.A common concern voiced by many women seeking to complete their family via egg donation is the fearthat they might not bond with their donor-conceived child or love them as much as their biological child.Rebecca says, “When my son was born prematurely, I struggled initially due to the birth circumstances, but the bond grew strong as we spent time together. He's my son in every sense, and genetics don'tdefine our connection.”Rebecca's story helps ease worries and doubts for those concerned about their feelings toward theirdonor egg child. Messy in the Middle: The Journey of Infertility Podcast

In this episode I chat with Samantha – she is the epitome of the quote “You were given this life because you are strong enough to live it”. Samantha's first pregnancy ended in a tragic second trimester loss at 22 weeks due to placental abruption and due to retained products, she contracted a severe infection that left her in ICU. Samantha's coping mechanism was to create a plan and start taking action on how to move forward. Unfortunately, her second pregnancy ended at 20 weeks due to premature rupture of waters and it was found that her infection had returned. Her third pregnancy miraculously turned out to be twins…after her first scan only showed 1 baby and heartbeat. Her second scan though showed that there were actually 2 babies in there and as her luck would have it, they were the most high-risk twins below conjoined twins and they had a 75% mortality rate. Samantha and her partner were advised to terminate due to the high risk and her history, but they decided to ride it out and see how it went. The twins passed at 15 weeks due to cord entanglement. After the birth of the twins, Samantha spent 3 years trying with no success. She then fell pregnant a fourth time with her son Noah and devastatingly went into active labour at 22 weeks. Despite all the tragic loss that she has endured, Samantha was still determined to have a living child. As they had spent so long without any luck, it was decided they would try donor eggs, which they got from the Ukraine. This was her first experience with IVF. They implanted 2 embryos and did fall pregnant, but then miscarried 7 days later. By now, we are into COVID days and it was difficult to make the trip to Canberra from Melbourne, where she was getting the IVF treatment and made the decision to look into surrogacy. Shortly after, her and her partner separated and this left Samantha in a really dark hole and she described this loss as being harder than losing the babies – because now in her 40's, she felt as though all hope of her dreams of having a living child left when he did. She did end up transferring the last embryo they had and when it didn't take, she decided that IVF wasn't for her and it was time to seriously explore her surrogacy options. Australia was out of the question, simply as it was going to take too much time – so it was off to Greece! She used an organisation that only take on people that have tried all other avenues and have been unsuccessful in birthing a live child. At the time of recording in February 2023, her surrogate was pregnant – with twins!! Unfortunately, twin A – Baby Grace, passed due to a heart condition and there was a real chance she could lose both babies if the surrogates body recognised that one of the twins had died. Some good news though! Twin B, who is a baby boy is thriving and at the time of release, Samantha is on her way to Greece for the birth of her baby boy. This is an incredibly devastating and heart-wrenching journey that spanned 10 years and I'm so overjoyed to follow Samantha's journey and watch her bring her baby home.If you want to follow Samantha, she has a page on Facebook – Memories of an Angel – https://www.facebook.com/MemoriesofanAngelMake sure you follow the Messy in the Middle Instagram page: https://instagram.com/_messyinthemiddle_?igshid=NTdlMDg3MTY=And if you want to share your story, please get in contact with me either through the Instagram page or email me at messyinthemiddle.fertility@gmail.com

Be supported on your donor egg journey with the Community Membership. In this episode, I had a delightful conversation with Elisabeth, a French woman originally from Paris who has been living in Australia for the past 18 years. Her story revolves around her remarkable journey towards motherhood. At the age of 40, Elisabeth met her husband, and since then, they have been trying to conceive a child.Initially, they attempted a natural method for three months, but when it proved unsuccessful, they decided to seek help from a fertility clinic. Elisabeth and her husband explored various options and underwent fertility treatments, such as taking supplements and undergoing cycles of assisted reproductive techniques like IVF and Creighton model. Unfortunately, these attempts did not result in a successful pregnancy. After experiencing multiple disappointments, Elisabeth's husband suggested considering the possibility of using a donor egg. Intrigued by this idea, they actively researched and sought out a donor of Elisabeth's ethnic background, which is French Caribbean. They faced challenges in finding a suitable donor with the same ethnicity, and their search extended for several months.During their search, they sought advice from a Facebook group where someone recommended a clinic in Barbados. Intrigued by this suggestion, Elisabeth contacted the clinic and was impressed by the coordinator's assurance that they could assist in finding a donor promptly. They found her a donor right away. However, importing eggs from Barbados to Australia added an additional challenge to their journey, particularly due to the circumstances surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic.“So the donor did the cycle for us in March. And 19 eggs were frozen for us and those eggs were imported to Australia.”Listen to this episode to delve deeper into Elisabeth's incredible journey towards motherhood. Meta Getman and her husband Michael went through their own infertility challenges and after eight rounds of fertility treatments, achieved their dream of a family through using donor eggs. She said it took a long time to be able to say "I'm a mom" because for a long time she didn't think it would happen. She shared that they found out early in their journey that they would have trouble conceiving due to male factor. It wasn't long and then they found out they had both male and female infertility factor which brought with it even more struggles then they originally thought. She was very thankful that her husband started researching and googling when she had totally gone into a shut down mode. Meta did share great information on donor eggs and that she would do things differently now with what she knows. Meta Getman is a donor conception coach who helps families who have found themselves facing a journey to parenthood they had never imagined: using donor eggs, donor sperm or donor embryo. She will be on an episode soon to talk more about how she helps her clients go from isolation, loneliness, and fear of what's next to hope, confidence, and excitement for building their families. Words of Encouragement from Meta: Where ever you are in the process to create a family, there is always an option. There is always something else. It may not be what you want it to be or what you thought it should be. It might not even be something you're willing to consider today but there is always an option and if you are feeling you're hitting that roadblock that you don't see any options and I don't know what my next step is, reach out and ask questions. Share your story with people who have been there and have knowledge and experience. They can point you in the right direction of the next thing to look at. And I would say it's one thousand percent actually recommended that if you are feeling tired, burnt out, or stuck, then pause. The only time line you have is your own. No one is forcing a timeline and sometimes you have to pause, you have to grieve, you have to be sad and feel the loss of what this process is. Which is a lot of disappointment in order to then be renewed to be able to move forward. It's ok to take a pause and to stop. No one is telling you you have to push forward. It might feel like time is running out, it might feel like you are getting old, it might feel like all those things and that is valid. Those feelings are valid and taking a little break can do wonders for clarity, understanding and restoring you to move forward to whatever that next thing is. When I originally recorded this episode it was back around the end of April. In light of recent events, considering IVF abroad may be something that is coming up for you. Luckily, Sarah Kowalski of Motherhood Reimagined shares some of her experience and her clients experiences with seeking egg donor abroad and domestically. If you want to hear Sarah's story, you can listen to episode 7 where she shares her path to independent parenthood and coming to terms with needing an egg donor. Today, we focus primarily on the egg donor process and she shares what her experience was like in going abroad and researching using egg donor abroad. Now, we don't specifically go into what this experience is like with a partner. I have someone sharing that experience in a couple of months. She went through IVF in Mexico and is now doing a cycle in the US. After her US cycle, she and I were going to have a conversation, so she could have better insight into differences and pros and cons to each. Domestically, there are some cost saving programs, and I've linked them in the show notes for you. CNY has a program and Dr. Aimee the Egg Whisperer also has the Freeze and Share program. Egg donation is a complex topic. I know I can't cover it all in one episode. I want to cover more stories and perspectives, so you can understand the experience and hopefully have the information to make the choice that is best for you. I hope this is helpful for you. As always, I have links available for you in the show notes about the things we have discussed today. Have you heard about donors? Our guest speaker support people who are considering using a donor after infertility treatments with their own genetics don't work. Using a donor is not something we dream of but for some of us is our reality to have a family. Listening to donor conceived adults is key to learning how we can best support donor kids as recipient parents. DNA doesn't define you as a parent. It is important to tell your children and other key people in your life about using a donor.    Join us in an interview with Donor Conception Coach Meta Getman as she talks about many things to consider when using a donor: contact with the donor for the child, possible donor siblings, how do you find the donor, what is important to you and your partner about the donor, what fears do you have, etc.   Meta Getman is a donor conception coach who helps family-focused, responsible, and thoughtful women and couples who have found themselves facing a journey to parenthood they had never imagined: using donor eggs, donor sperm, or donor embryo. Through her e-course, The Donor Downlow, Meta helps her clients go from isolation, loneliness, and fear of the donor process to hope, confidence, and excitement for building their families. Meta and her husband Michael went through their own infertility challenges and after four IUIs and three rounds of fresh IVF, they achieved their dream of a family through using donor eggs. Meta has been featured in multiple podcasts, has spoken at the RESOLVE Midwest Family Building Summit, and founded a community of families who used a donor.   You can follow Meta on Instagram @metagetman   Here is Meta's free gift, a free copy of her Essential Donor Checklist https://metagetman.com/podcastgift   Follow me on: Instagram @holisticfertilitydoctor Facebook https://www.facebook.com/DrAumatmaNd Youtube https://www.youtube.com/c/HolisticFertilityExpert

Sarah Clark wanted to be married at 25 and kids by 28. When she went off the pill, which was falsely regulating her periods, they again became irregular and heavy. When visiting the doctor, she was told she had premature ovarian failure and the only way to have kids was to use donor eggs. She was given a brochure about IVF and sent to the clinic. Sarah talked about being naïve and did not go for a second opinion. She said I did not even grieve the news. I knew I had other options, I did not hesitate, I knew it was going to happen for us and luckily it did. Since it has been about 20 years ago the whole process has changed from getting profiles of the donor in the mail to view profiles online. Sarah said questions I got were. Did you think you wouldn't' bond with the baby and did you worry they wouldn't look like you? She has learned a tremendous amount about her own health and now supports other couples navigate the tough infertility journey. Her company is very thorough with their testing and help couples in multiple countries. Take time to listen to the episode to hear all the different test that they have available to help you navigate the infertility journey. Sarah's words of advice and encouragement: Dig deeper beyond the diagnosis. If told you have low AMH or high HSF, diminished ovarian reserve, premature ovarian defiance, or failure, look at other things going on in your body. Like me I had acne, sinus, yeast, and bladder infections. There were other things going on in my body. Do not focus just on the diagnosis. Do not think IVF is your only option. We spend 12-18 months preparing for a wedding and in 1 month we want to get pregnant. So, flip that around. I am not saying spend 18 months but see what else is going on in your body and yes get a second opinion. Listen to my podcast for a functional approach and take charge of your own health. We work with people that have food sensitivities, gut infections, hormonal imbalance, blood sugar issues, and thyroid stuff. Look beyond the conventional medicine.
