Play Episode Listen Later Nov 13, 2024 25:51

This week on Aligned Womb, Aligned You, I'm diving into a topic I believe so many of us are either experiencing or struggling to understand: burnout. From my own journey, as well as the stories of countless women I've worked with, it's clear that the modern expectations placed on us as women—combined with our natural, cyclical energy rhythms—make us particularly vulnerable to burnout. In this episode, we'll explore the unique factors contributing to burnout in women, including “human giver syndrome” and emotional exhaustion. We talk about how societal pressures and gendered expectations often lead women to overextend, as well as how our innate empathy can turn into an unintentional cycle of codependency. Through these discussions, I unpack how the demands of caretaking roles can take a toll on our health and wellbeing if we don't create boundaries that protect our energy and prioritize self-care. I also highlight the importance of reconnecting with our bodies, specifically through the menstrual cycle and hormone health. You'll hear about how stress sensitivity, particularly in the luteal (or “inner fall”) phase of our cycle, can amplify our stress responses and make us more susceptible to burnout. I share eye-opening statistics that underscore the urgent need for us to care for our cyclical health, including the higher rates of chronic conditions like autoimmune disorders, chronic pain, and mental health issues among women. What You'll Learn in This Episode: The reasons women are uniquely susceptible to burnout and the impact of societal expectations. How “human giver syndrome” affects women in nurturing roles like teaching, nursing, and social work. The science behind stress response in women and the “tend and befriend” effect. Practical strategies for syncing self-care with the phases of your menstrual cycle, especially in perimenopause. Want to talk about big impact? Learning about the Cycle Archetypes was a game changer for me back in 2018. I attended a training with Miranda Gray - Womb Blessing Attunements: Female Awakening - that I thought was about how to give a womb healing session to my fertility clients, to only learn the most impactful sacred teachings that changed my life forever (and turns out it had nothing to do with fertility lol). Cycle Archetypes are sacred symbols of the energy and essence that lives within us in each of the 4 phases of our cycle. They represent the 4 different women that we are. They help guide us to deepen into how we are feeling and help identify our needs. These archetypes are a beautiful way to look at our cycle with creativity, curiosity, and the imagination to understand who we were, who we are, and who we are becoming each cycle.
