Kerry and Collin are joined by Catherine Mary Stewart, star of the 1984 cult classic "Night of the Comet," an apocalyptic sci-fi film where the world ends at Christmastime, which is the best time to go shopping. They are also joined by returning guest Marya E. Gates, author of the new book "Cinema Her Way: Visionary Female Directors in Their Own Words." The four of them talk in-depth about "Night of the Comet" while Stewart tells some great production stories from working on the film, while also talking about some of the other Christmas films in which she has appeared. And yes, there is also talk of "The Apple," "Dudes" and "The Last Starfighter." Then, the discussion switches over the to subject of Gates' new book, which examines (among many other things) the continuing struggles in the industry facing some of the best female filmmakers working today. As if that weren't enough, there's also the Blu-ray Gift Exchange. It's a longer episode than usual, but well worth it. THANKS TO ANDREW FOR MAKING THE INTRO SONG. (soundcloud.com / andoryukesuta)@andoryukesuta In 2008, mass murderer Jason Voorhees gets captured by the United States government and held at the Crystal Lake Research Facility. By 2010, after numerous failed attempts to kill Jason, government scientist Rowan LaFontaine, head of the facility, suggests putting him in cryogenic stasis. Dr. Wimmer and Sergeant Marcus arrive with soldiers, hoping to further research Jason's ability to heal from lethal wounds, as they believe it involves rapid cellular regeneration that can be replicated. Jason breaks free of his restraints and murders the soldiers and Dr. Wimmer. Rowan lures him into a cryogenic pod, but he ruptures the pod with his machete, stabbing her in the abdomen. Cryogenic fluid spills into the sealed room, freezing them both. In the year 2455, Earth is too polluted to support life and humans have moved to a new planet, Earth II. On a field trip to Earth I, Professor Brandon Lowe, his android companion KM-14, intern Adrienne Thomas, and students Tsunaron, Janessa, Azrael, Kinsa, Waylander, and Stoney explore the abandoned Crystal Lake Research Facility, finding the frozen Jason and Rowan. They bring them aboard their spaceship, the Grendel, and revive Rowan while leaving Jason in the morgue, believing him to be dead. Adrienne is ordered to dissect Jason's body but Rowan warns them of the danger, revealing Jason's nature and superhuman abilities. Lowe, who is in serious debt, calls his financial backer Dieter Perez on the nearby space station Solaris. Perez recognizes Jason's name and notes his body could interest a collector. While Stoney and Kinsa have sex, Jason awakens and attacks Adrienne, freezing her face with liquid nitrogen before smashing her head to pieces on a counter. Jason takes a machete-shaped surgical tool and kills Stoney in front of Kinsa. Sergeant Brodski leads a group of soldiers to attack Jason. Jason interrupts a projected holographic game, breaking Azrael's back and bashing crewman Dallas's skull in. He tries to attack engineer Crutch, but Brodski and his soldiers arrive. After Brodski splits up his team, Jason kills them one by one. Lowe orders pilot Lou to dock at Solaris. Jason kills Lou and the ship crashes through Solaris, destroying it. Jason breaks into the lab, reclaims his machete and decapitates Lowe. With the Grendel crippled, the survivors head for a shuttle while Tsunaron upgrades KM-14. After crew member Crutch is electrocuted by Jason, Kinsa attempts to escape on her own, but forgets to release the shuttle's fuel lines, causing it to crash into the ship and explode, thus incinerating Kinsa. Tsunaron reappears with an upgraded KM-14 who wields weapons and combat skills to stand a better chance against Jason. After having his right arm, left leg, right ribs, and part of his head blasted off by KM-14, Jason's body is knocked into a nanite-equipped medical station. The survivors send a distress call, then set explosive charges to separate the ship's undamaged pontoon from the main section. The medical station nanites rebuild Jason, who becomes a cyborg. With his new strength, Jason easily defeats KM-14 by punching her head off. As Tsunaron recovers her still-functioning head, Jason is stopped by Waylander, who sacrifices himself by setting off the charges while the others escape. Jason survives and punches a hole through the hull, causing Janessa to die in the vacuum. A power failure with the docking door forces Brodski to go outside in an EVA suit to fix it.
Evil gets an upgrade. BANG-UARY concludes as your hosts return to their old buddy Jason Voorhees with the 2001 installment JASON X. Jason Voorhees is cryogenically frozen at the start of the 21st century, only to be discovered and revived in the 25th century where he stalks and kills the young crew of spaceship Grendel. We are all tempts in life. Some of us took over a business from our parents. Most of us stepped into a position vacated by a retiree. We are simply carrying on what someone took over from someone else or began. Being a follower of Christ is no different. We began with Acts 1:1 a year ago with Dr. Luke's statement: “All that Jesus BEGAN to do and TEACH.” Jesus BEGAN it and we are to continue it. When we gave our lives to Christ we stepped into a position to share the gospel vacated by past Christians. The book of ACTS ends has no formal ending unlike other N.T. letters. It is open ended. Could it be because you and I are called to pick up the baton and carry on the spread of the Gospel? Yes! We have all stepped into the position and CONTINUE what Jesus started!!!———————————————————————————————Connect with us on Social Media:Website: nbcc.com/Facebook: facebook.com/nbccnorcoInstagram: instagram.com/nbccnorcoYouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6S-3n9PVnXm8zSPHAYVyGw----------------------------------------If you have any prayer requests or questions, please message us on our social media or send us an email at hello@nbcc.com. We've all been in life storms…many of them. Paul has been in many storms as he spreads the gospel. Today find him in the biggest storm of his life, and he's in the predicament because of someone else's bad decision. But what is most impressive is what he does in the storm. His courage, calm, and hope in Jesus are on full display. Someone once said, “Storms don't make us, they reveal us.” And today we watch Paul fully revealed in a storm.———————————————————————————————Connect with us on Social Media:Website: nbcc.com/Facebook: facebook.com/nbccnorcoInstagram: instagram.com/nbccnorcoYouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6S-3n9PVnXm8zSPHAYVyGw----------------------------------------If you have any prayer requests or questions, please message us on our social media or send us an email at hello@nbcc.com. I love Father's Day because I get to celebrate Fathers and take you into the world of that dad in your home. And besides, I am one of them. Your Father is a unique breed. He is not like your mother. He's a guy, he's your dad. But have you ever wondered what makes him tick? Have you ever wondered what he was like before you came around versus what he is like today? Well this Sunday as we celebrate dads I will attempt to teach you some of the inner workings and motivations of that G.O.A.T. you call dad. See you there!!———————————————————————————————Connect with us on Social Media:Website: nbcc.com/Facebook: facebook.com/nbccnorcoInstagram: instagram.com/nbccnorcoYouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6S-3n9PVnXm8zSPHAYVyGw----------------------------------------If you have any prayer requests or questions, please message us on our social media or send us an email at hello@nbcc.com. As we continue to travel through Acts we find one of the reoccurring themes is persecution. Paul is being continuously persecuted for his faith in the Resurrected Jesus. He would one day write in I Timothy 3:12 “Indeed, all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.” He is telling us what to expect so as not to be surprised when it happens. We will be persecuted as a result of living “godly lives.” That is important because some are persecuted for living sinful lives all the while claiming that they are living godly. Now persecution is the idea of being chased after and worn out, and we can feel that way to the point of quitting. But do not despair we as we will find out Sunday, we win!!———————————————————————————————Connect with us on Social Media:Website: nbcc.com/Facebook: facebook.com/nbccnorcoInstagram: instagram.com/nbccnorcoYouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6S-3n9PVnXm8zSPHAYVyGw----------------------------------------If you have any prayer requests or questions, please message us on our social media or send us an email at hello@nbcc.com. Some decisions should not be delayed. Especially the decision to follow Christ. As we look into Acts 24 we find Paul still in prison but given the opportunity to speak to the governor Felix and his wife Drusilla about righteousness, self-control and judgment to come. Felix delays his decision to follow Christ and we never read that he gave his life to Christ in follow up meetings with Paul. It is dangerous to delay the decision to follow Christ and today we will see why.———————————————————————————————Connect with us on Social Media:Website: nbcc.com/Facebook: facebook.com/nbccnorcoInstagram: instagram.com/nbccnorcoYouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6S-3n9PVnXm8zSPHAYVyGw----------------------------------------If you have any prayer requests or questions, please message us on our social media or send us an email at hello@nbcc.com. Guest-starring Shayna from Earth II! “We’re all lubed up on our end!” What does that even mean???… The post Episode 233 appeared first on The Batman Universe.
There are many seasons in our life as followers of Christ that we need encouragement. In this message we find Paul has been going through some difficult times. He is currently on trial, they strike him and no one is getting saved. So what does Jesus do? He cheers Paul up in three specific ways and the three ways Jesus does this is exactly the three ways He encourages us. In this message out of Acts 23 we will examine those three methods of encouragement.———————————————————————————————Connect with us on Social Media:Website: nbcc.com/Facebook: facebook.com/nbccnorcoInstagram: instagram.com/nbccnorcoYouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6S-3n9PVnXm8zSPHAYVyGw----------------------------------------If you have any prayer requests or questions, please message us on our social media or send us an email at hello@nbcc.com. Preaching the Resurrection, Paul has been rushed by the mob, beaten, arrested, and false charges brought against him by liars. But it is under all this pressure and persecution we see the real deal practice normal Christian faith. Which provokes a question when we are experience pressure and persecution, what does our faith look like? This Sunday we get to see how normal faith behaves.———————————————————————————————Connect with us on Social Media:Website: nbcc.com/Facebook: facebook.com/nbccnorcoInstagram: instagram.com/nbccnorcoYouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6S-3n9PVnXm8zSPHAYVyGw----------------------------------------If you have any prayer requests or questions, please message us on our social media or send us an email at hello@nbcc.com. Sometimes God asks us to go certain places, talk to certain people, and preform difficult tasks, even when we don't feel like it. In Acts 21, we are going to take a look at how Paul did not allow the world to deter him from Gods will, no matter how difficult things became.———————————————————————————————Connect with us on Social Media:Website: nbcc.com/Facebook: facebook.com/nbccnorcoInstagram: instagram.com/nbccnorcoYouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6S-3n9PVnXm8zSPHAYVyGw----------------------------------------If you have any prayer requests or questions, please message us on our social media or send us an email at hello@nbcc.com. Did we watch Flubber? We did. Alex begins our show discussing his Pokemon obsession. It's basically PokeHoarders at his house. Someone call TLC. Alex laments the Nova Scotia accent. Send the hate mail his way. Then on Dirty Laundry, we discuss anal issues and “not being done”. Make the flubber. Then we see Shooter McGavin try and marry his wife. Wil Weaton plays the bad guy's son and Clancy Brown from Earth II is in the movie too! The Flubb is on the loose. Robby Williams puts flubber everywhere and helps a high-school bball team win the game to win back his ex-fiancee. We eventually figured it out. Hack and Slash, or the bad guys, suck hard. Towards the end, Scott Trimble, lets us know what's up on the set of Flubber. The reviews were terrible at the time of its release. This episode, the guys take a look at Jason's journey to outer space in "Jason X". In the Year 2008, Jason Vorhees is cryogenically frozen in a Government Facility in Camp Crystal Lake, along with scientist Rowan. Many centuries later, in the year 2455, Earth is uninhabitable, and humans have moved to another planet known as Earth II. However, a team of students awakens both him and Rowan on a spaceship known as the Grendel. Jason begins killing the students and crew of the ship. Along the way, he is upgraded to Uber Jason. Soleimani was Iran’s Himmler. But in their hatred for Donald Trump, our own press are calling him “revered,” an Iranian “hero,” and a “genius.” Glenn believes Trump didn’t go far enough: This press is the enemy of freedom! A letter was sent to Iraq falsely claiming U.S. troops were pulling out. And former national security adviser John Bolton has agreed to testify in the Senate, but the House still hasn’t sent the articles of impeachment! Also, NASA may have found Earth II, and the first British astronaut has claimed aliens exist, but may be invisible. Transgender “activist” Jessica Yaniv is back with another waxing lawsuit. And Glenn and Stu realize there are still over a dozen Democrats running for president! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
In this (unnecessarily) spooky episode, brought to you by iNaudible.com (Huh?), our heroes deep dive into la oeuvre de la Pink Floyd, set their phasers to stun, Wish You Were Here, discuss the recording industry in the 70's, long for self-driving cars, lament the lack of human decency, compare Flat Earthers and Sith acolytes, drink the blue milk, explain physics, concoct nom de plumes, and once again descend into the further explanations of the Flat Earth Principle. How much Bond continuity is successful? How much is necessary? This episode we consider the problem of continuity in a 57 year-old film franchise. We speculate why the Daniel Craig era leaned so heavily on connections to the past and wonder what could have happened to poor Sylvia Trench. Along the way we stumble on abandoned continuity opportunities, James Bond in a retirement village, alternate universes in the franchise, possible timeline strategies after Craig, David’s plan to drop Waltz’s Blofeld down a chimney stack, our hopes and wishes for No Time To Die, Cary’s Instagram account, Mathis’ AirB&B, what a Danny Boyle Bond could have looked like, and a composer compromise all culminating in a rare track from Sir Roger to play us out. The recording took place on November 1st in the USA, Spain, and New Zealand. Paul Atkinson and James Page are co-founders of MI6-HQ.com and the magazine MI6 Confidential Phil Nobile Jr is Editor-in-Chief of Fangoria magazine, former Bond correspondent for Birth.Movies.Death Bill Koenig runs the Spy Command at hmssweblog.wordpress.com David Leigh runs thejamesbonddossier.com This podcast is copyright Pretitles LLC © 2019 Music credit 'Spy & Die' by Jay Man
In Part 3 of an extended three part interview, our featured guest is again Professor Jonti Horner, the Professor of Astrophysics at the University of Southern Queensland in Australia. With thousands of citations, he is an esteemed Astronomer and Astrobiologist who researches Exoplanets, Exoplanet Habitability and the evolution of our Solar system. Jonti has lead the construction of the newly commissioned MINERVA-Australis exoplanet search and follow-up facility at the USQ Mt. Kent Observatory. In todays episode we hear about how the media needs to stop speculating about Earth II until we actually find one, and how often we can expect meteor impacts on earth cities. Jonti explains the origins and causes of meteor showers Our regular host Dr Ian Musgrave tells us what to look for in the night skies for the next two weeks, and in ‘Ian’s Tangent’ we find out about XXXXXXXX Now our news is truncated today, because I’m pretty determined to keep our podcasts under 60 minutes, so I’ll just give you the summary and provide the weblink for you. .1. Ironically, given Jonti’s presentation today about rogue asteroids, we hear that we had a ‘near-miss’ asteroid transit between the earth and the moon’s orbit, which was not detected till *after* the fly-by. Ooops! No need for Bruce Willis and the nuclear option. Lol That article is at tinyurl-DOT-com/hahamissed .2. The MINERVA-Australis exoplanet search and follow-up facility led by Professor Horner at the USQ Mt. Kent Observatory has seen first light and been commissioned. That story is at tinyurl-DOT-com/minervaDASHaustralis .3. Congratulations to the people in the Australian outback who thought they witnessed an alien spacecraft, and to Jonti again, who explained in the media how they had actually seen the Indian Moon mission launch. That rather amusing story is at tinyurl-DOT-com/sorrynotaliens .4. Bigger congratulations to the Indian space agency ISRO for their fabulously successful launch for their mission to put their rover and lander on the south pole of the moon. There's a great story about the trajectory they are taking at tinyurl-DOT-com/indianmoonlaunch

Hartley began her career in her teens as a stage actress, coached and mentored by the noted Eva Le Gallienne. Her film career began with Ride the High Country (1962), a western with actors Randolph Scott and Joel McCrea, and directed by Sam Peckinpah. She also had a supporting role in Alfred Hitchcock’s Marnie (1964). In 1963 she played Clary in Gunsmoke episode 53 In the 1963-1964 television season, she appeared in an episode of ABC’s drama about college life, Channing and in two episodes of The Virginian. In 1966, she appeared as Polly Dockery in the series finale, "A Burying for Rosey", of The Legend of Jesse James. She appeared in an episode of the T.V. series of M*A*S*H (TV series) as Dr. Inga Halverson ('Inga' Series 7 episode 17). She also worked with Rod Serling and Gene Roddenberry, two famed creators of television and film science fiction. She first appeared in an episode of The Twilight Zone ("The Long Morrow"). In 1969, she appeared in the penultimate episode of Star Trek, "All Our Yesterdays". She appeared in several science fiction films, Marooned (1969), Earth II (1971), and the pilot for the post-apocalyptic Genesis II (1973), another Roddenberry production. During the late 1970s, Hartley also appeared with James Garner in a popular series of television commercials advertising Polaroid cameras. The two actors had such chemistry that it was often (erroneously) believed that they were married in real life. Her biography contains a photo of her in a T-shirt proclaiming, “I am NOT Mrs. James Garner.” Hartley also guest-starred in a memorable episode of Garner’s TV series The Rockford Files during this period. The script required them to kiss at one point. Unknown to them, a paparazzo was photographing the scene from a distance. The photos were run in a tabloid trying to provoke a scandal, causing a good deal of attention. (An article that ran in TV Guide was titled, “That woman is not James Garner’s wife!”)
