What if the solution to feeding the world isn't on land—but in the ocean? Today, we're diving into the future of food with James Beard and Emmy-nominated storyteller Jennifer Bushman. In this episode of The Heartbeat for Hire, we dive into the deep blue with Jennifer Bushman, a James Beard Award–nominated chef, Emmy-nominated producer, and co-founder of Fed by Blue. Jennifer shares her journey from growing up in a cattle-ranching family in Colorado to becoming one of the world's leading advocates for sustainable aquaculture, ocean health, and blue foods. We explore her groundbreaking PBS docuseries Hope in the Water, the innovators restoring our oceans, and why the future of food depends on what comes from water—not land. Jennifer debunks common myths around farmed vs. wild seafood, explains how seaweed farming can regenerate ecosystems, and reveals why storytelling—not fear—is the key to environmental leadership and lasting change. From shrimp farms in Minnesota dairy barns to kelp used in skincare and ice cream, this conversation offers a hopeful, practical vision for feeding a growing world while healing our oceans.

From snot to stretchmarks to sleepless nights, Kristin and Jen know firsthand that parenting is a hard job and they invite you to join them in taking it all a little less seriously (even if for a few short minutes a day). Today's episode is a bit of a departure from the usual format. I'm re-sharing a recent conversation I had on my friend Brendan Leonard's new podcast, My Favorite Things. I'm sure most of y'all are already familiar with Brendan's work, but for those of you who aren't, he's an author, illustrator, filmmaker, and creator of Semi-Rad.  Brendan's new podcast is built around a simple but fascinating premise: conversations about the books, films, art, and creative works that have helped shape a person's life and career. In this conversation, we spend less time on what I do, and more time on what's influenced how I think and live — from Theodore Roosevelt and Sebastian Junger to a Winslow Homer painting and a movie that's been oddly entertaining and instructive over the years. (I bet y'all can guess the movie.) There are already several excellent episodes live featuring thoughtful, interesting people, and Brendan has created something both entertaining and instructive with this podcast. If you enjoy this conversation, I'd encourage you to subscribe, explore the rest of the episodes, and share the show with any of your friends who might enjoy it. What if the best parts of the year were not the biggest ones, but the quiet gifts of God hidden right in plain sight? In this fourth "Favorite Things" conversation, we pause to look back before we look ahead. Not to count achievements or tally wins, but to name the ordinary graces that formed us. The tables that gathered people. The roads that reopened after seasons of waiting. The work that surprised us with joy. The callings that deepened instead of diminished. Threaded through it all is the goodness of God. The steady gift of family and friendship. And the quiet force of coaching as it shapes leaders, ministries, and everyday lives from the inside out. This episode is an invitation to slow down long enough to remember. To notice what God has done. To give thanks for what did not have to happen but did. Before the year turns, let gratitude open your eyes to the grace that has been carrying you all along. --- Start your journey to become a Professional Christian Life Coach!  Connect with an Academic Advisor: https://calendly.com/d/cqkt-5nf-5pw/connect-with-an-academic-advisor?utm_source=podcast Join the Facebook Group: www.facebook.com/groups/professionalchristiancoaching/ Our gift to you! 15+ Hours of FREE Training "The Ultimate Christian Coaching Bundle": https://professionalchristiancoaching.com/bundle PCCI Website: https://professionalchristiancoaching.com/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@ChristianCoaching/videos

Moms — we made it!! We're celebrating 200 episodes of the Gather Moms podcast AND kicking off Christmas together! Whether you've been with us since those early COVID-era episodes or you just found us last week, we are so grateful you’re here. In this milestone episode, we're unwrapping favorite gifts, Christmas hilarity, biblical truths, and some deeply meaningful encouragement for the season. Big Takeaways 1. Good mom ≠ big Christmas Stop carrying the weight of magical expectations. A meaningful Christmas isn't built on stuff — it's built on values, presence, and generosity. 2. Start with values, not expectations Decide what matters most: togetherness, service, slowing down, telling the story of Jesus — then shape December around that. 3. Generosity beats guilt every time Don't aim for “perfect.” Aim for generous: time, kindness, prayers, small acts, and loving others with your kids. 4. The Magi point us to Jesus in a deeper way Their extravagant gifts weren't random — they reflected worship, prophecy, priesthood, and God's perfect provision. Even at Jesus' birth, God was caring for Mary in the sweetest ways. 5. Small rhythms make a big impact A weekly Advent reading, a service project, handmade cards, or simply talking about Jesus — simple is beautiful. It's that time of year again when May, Kelly and Tamlyn share their "Favorite Things" for the holidays, BUT this year they took a bit of a turn given how challenging 2025 has been. Instead of focusing on things, they're sharing how experiences like travel, new puppies and our mothers, which have brought us both incredible joy and profound heartbreak. MKT also have a rather salty conversation about a certain kind of dog treat and what it's potentially made of. To say the chat goes off the rails would be an understatement.
