Happy Holidays! We're keeping it light and festive with a special replay of one of our favorite past episodes: Our Favorite Things(episode 72)! We're sharing everything from holiday traditions to snacks, gift-giving tips, and even our favorite tools for keeping life (and work) simple. Whether you're wrapping presents or just need a breather during the busy season, this episode is perfect for bringing some cheer to your day. In this episode, we chat about: Christmas traditions we love (and some we've let go). Go-to holiday foods (and why marshmallows belong on sweet potato casserole). How we organize holiday decor for stress-free decorating. Thoughtful gift ideas (including a 2-tier Lazy Susan and homemade cookies). Why simple joys, like clean countertops and naps, are our ultimate favorites.
The second annual Few of Our Favorite Things episode has arrived! Friend of the Pod Justin Hentges returns, and we share personal stories and reflections on our cherished books, movies, music, and experiences from the past year. We aren't just highlighting new releases, but the gems that have brought us joy and comfort regardless of their release date. We also bring you a heartwarming Christmas story with Santa and magical snow globes, spreading hope and resilience to those feeling vulnerable in this uncertain times. From Ronan Farrow's gripping "Catch and Kill" to Emmanuel Carrère's poignant "V13: Chronicle of a Trial," we discuss the year's most impactful books that have left us contemplating the dark corners of media and politics. We also explore the intriguing connections between business, government, and personal stories through the insightful narratives in Naomi Oreskes and Eric Conway's "The Big Myth" and Viola Davis's powerful autobiography "Finding Me." And, we curl up with our favorite TV series like Rowan Atkinson's "Maigret" and the heartfelt "Heartstopper." These stories serve as a reminder of the importance of diverse perspectives in enriching our understanding of the world. Our conversation also takes some unexpected turns as we find joy in the children in our lives, and the sense of community that emerges during uncertain times. We reflect on the cultural impact across generations and the significance of empathy and compassion. As the holiday season approaches, we send you a heartfelt Happy Holidays! Hey Girls Anthem,It's HERE! Our first full issue for Girls Anthem magazine. First, I felt led to put a spin on “Home for The Holidays” for our feature story for our Holiday and Beyond issue. When we think of going “home” for the holidays, we often picture people traveling to visit family in other cities or states. However, many of us are experiencing another holiday without those we loved deeply. I asked two friends to join me in a virtual panel discussion on grief and its many forms. Here are some of the things we discussed:* Our current grief strategies (how we deal with grief when it bum-rushes us)* Grieving what we thought would be * City grief (how to deal with coming from/living in communities where a principality of murder resides)* How to manage your grief and put up boundaries when you're the “strong friend”* How to manage grief as a mom (Erica and Paige are both boy moms)* Friendship grief (the difference between the relationship having to come to a permanent end vs. when God separates it for a season to purify it, etc.)* and more!Tune in and grab your notebooks. The last two articles in our “When Fruit Speaks” series will be published on the website on December 23rd and 29th. If you enjoy our holiday issue, share it with family and friends. Please encourage them to subscribe to Girls Anthem magazine. If you want to share how this discussion blessed you, comment below! Please visit the pages below for the other digital articles in our holiday issue. To download our FULL COLOR PDF version of this issue, click HERE!To purchase a print copy of this issue, click HERE!Remember, our PDF and Print versions include a few extras including:* Editor's Letter* “A Few of Our Favorite Things” section (highlights music, books, and entertainment for the soul)* A free, surprise holiday gift bundle! Imagine having a bucket, a place where all your potential rain – or in this case, customers – can gather. That's your email list. You create an irresistible offer – a lead magnet. It's about offering something so valuable that people willingly trade their email to get it. And once you have this set-up, spreading the word is your next step. Utilize every platform you have, from social media to product inserts, ensuring your lead magnet reaches as many potential customers as possible. The beauty of email marketing lies in its simplicity and cost-effectiveness. With tools like Gmass and Flowdesk, setting up and sending beautiful, impactful emails has never been easier. Today we break it all down for you with actionable steps to leverage email marketing for your business. So, Rainmakers, are you ready to catch the rain? Dive into this episode, learn how to build your bucket, create that irresistible offer, and amplify your reach. The time to start is now, and the tools are at your fingertips. In today's episode, Bible teacher Elizabeth Woodson shows us some helpful places to start when it comes to Bible study! She talks about ways we can study in order to avoid major interpretation traps as well as the heart behind why we study. We shouldn't be afraid of making mistakes in our study of Scripture. (Because we will make mistakes!) Instead, we should let it draw us closer to the Lord, relying on the Spirit to help us as we learn biblical truths. If you want to grow in your ability to rightly handle the Word of God, then you won't want to miss this conversation! The opinions of guests on the Daily Grace podcast do not represent the opinions of The Daily Grace Co., and we do not necessarily endorse the resources that they recommend or mention on the show. We believe it is valuable to hear from a variety of guests, even if we do not agree in all areas. As always, the statements made by hosts and guests on the show should be tested against God's Word, the only authority on truth. Before we can really get into the holiday spirit, we have to deal with the lump of coal the Supreme Court heard on December 7th: Moore v. Harper. The case is about a fringe legal theory that says that when it comes to regulating elections, state legislatures can do anything they want-- even violate the state constitution-- and state courts can't intervene to stop them. It's bad, scary, foreboding, toxic, etc. Leah, Kate, and Melissa recap the arguments-- and then take a refreshing walk in a winter wonderland with this year's list of Our Favorite Things! If you're still doing your holiday shopping, we've got lots of recs.

The second installment of "Our Favorite Things" is the delightful Shamichael Hallman! As our holiday gift to you, dear listener, we're revisiting a few of our favorite episodes in a series we're literally calling "Our Favorite Things." (cue the Julie Andrews music!) This first one was hand-selected by our sometimes co-host, AT, and originally aired in December 2020. As to why she selected this particular episode, she said: "First, Ned Canty is hilarious! But more importantly, he has a way of explaining things that seem so high-brow to make them very accessible and exciting. I assumed I wouldn't like opera, but this episode made me rethink that entire notion completely." We dare you to not smile while you re-visit just how fun opera (and Opera Memphis) can be!

Our Favorite Things! Unfortunately, we're not like Oprah - we can't give you all of our favorites for free (am I the only one that remembers their Mom watching that episode of Oprah every year?!), but we are going to rattle them off for you, and hopefully teach you a thing or two about us that you didn't already know. We cover all things fitness, nutrition, relationships, pop culture, and even our favorite memories from high school and college. This is a fun and lighthearted episode, and a much needed change of pace from the interviews and serious conversations. So, without further ado, sit back, relax, and enjoy the episode.
We hope you have enjoyed our Summer journey through the favorite passages of some of our leaders. Today is the last message in the series Our Favorite Things. Today we are looking at Psalm 23, the favorite passage of one of our Elders, Bob Lancaster. But, he is not alone—this is one of the most recognizable and beloved passages of Scripture in the Bible. The Shepherd’s Psalm reveals to us the love, care, and guidance God gives His people. We are reminded that, even in the shadow of the valley of death, we are not alone, and for those who know this God, we have His presence and the resources to make it through the darkest times. And yes, this Psalm points us to Jesus who is the Good Shepherd who leads, feeds, guides, and protects His sheep, securing their journey to His eternal pasture.
Our Favorite Things is the title of our summer series. The Elders and staff have selected a favorite passage of scripture and sermons are based on each of those passages. Today’s message is from the Romans 8:1-17, chosen by Genesis Elder, Kirk Mathews, who will be bringing the message today. Kirk recently completed the preaching cohort class with three other Genesis Members. The 8th Chapter of the Book of Romans is full of glorious declarations as the Apostle Paul writes to the church of Rome about the freedoms we can enjoy as believers in Jesus Christ! After defining struggles with his own sinful nature in Chapter 7, Paul shares how each member of the Trinity plays a part in the freedoms available to the believer. Today we will see how to deal with the “Me Monster” that lives in each of us and begin to understand justification, sanctification and adoption as they relate to the Christian life.
Our Favorite Things is the title of our summer series. The Elders and staff have selected a favorite passage of scripture and sermons are based on each of those passages. Today’s message is from the book of Philemon chosen by Genesis Elder, Eric Burnley, who will be bringing the message today. Eric recently completed the preaching cohort class with three other Genesis Members. The book of Philemon is a personal letter written by the apostle Paul to a brother in Christ meant to speak into a situation between a master and his runaway slave. But how does Paul approach this scenario? At a broader level, how does the gospel speak into our relationships with each other? In this short book, we see God active in reconciling His people in two primary ways, and this morning we will dive into how Paul lives out the gospel by example in his attempt to aid in reconciling this broken relationship through brotherly love.
Our Favorite Things is the title of our summer series. The Elders and staff have selected a favorite passage of scripture and sermons are based on each of those passages. Today’s message is from Jeremiah 33:2-3, the favorite passage of Genesis Office Admin Carla Moore. The pop song Call Me released in 1980 by Blondie proclaimed, “Call me, on the line, call me any, anytime.” While the reason for this call is vastly different from today’s passage, the central message is the same. In Jeremiah 33, God is speaking to and through the prophet from the worst of circumstances. Yet from this there is an invitation, “Call to me, and I will answer you.” This passage reminds us that dependent prayer is the lungs of the Christian life, the access to the oxygen that keeps us alive spiritually. So today we will learn what it means to call on the Name of the Lord and will find ways to put this kind of prayer into practice.
