I need to tell you something you might not hear enough: Postpartum is about YOU just as much as it's about your baby. And yet, we live in a culture that's more focused on swaddles and sleep schedules than the well-being of the person who just created a whole human. I recently sat down with Maranda Bower from Postpartum University, and let me tell you—she dropped some serious truth bombs about what's missing in postpartum care and how we can change the game. Maranda's journey started when she had her first baby and realized she was completely unprepared for what came next. She is an expert in child development, a science-loving go-getter who thought she had everything figured out… until postpartum knocked her flat. Sound familiar? Maybe you felt that overwhelming exhaustion, the anxiety, the body that didn't quite feel like your own anymore. Maybe you were told, “Oh, that's just mom life. Welcome to the club.” But Maranda's work proves something powerful: Postpartum struggles aren't just something to tough out—they're signs that your body needs nourishment, care, and support. While we don't want to believe it, public perception or image definitely matter. As a general rule, there are two camps, perhaps three, within the ministerial community when it comes to public persona. One ascribes to that of the Influencer in every way--focusing on high fashion, promoting all their latest finds on social media, maybe they're in the extreme fitness realm. And then there are those in the camp who deem attention to such things as vain, self-serving, prideful, and even deflecting attention away from Christ altogether. And among those in the middle are those who are giving it their best shot, while others are battling that legendary battle of self-value to the point of even loathing the mirror. Today's featured guest Maranda Rains, a bi-vocational pastor's wife and personal stylist, comes on board to school us on how to effectively tend to our public perception without pride, but also with grace, holiness, and an attitude that pleases the Lord. She might bring a perspective that challenges your own, but take a listen with an open mind, a surrendered heart, and a desire to hear some fun and fresh ideas about spring fashion!------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Maranda Rains resides in Tyler, TX with her husband Paul of 22 years, daughters Bella Gray and Bristol Fay, plus two white fur people, Casper and Cotton. Maranda has enjoyed a 23-year career as a Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultant/Sales Director. She has had the privilege to drive 14 free cars, earn copious amounts of diamonds, travel around the world, and lead women of excellence. However, her most treasured gifts have been the valuable friendships she has collected along the way.Maranda enjoys volunteering for organizations in her community, and mostly serving at her church, Lakeview Community Church, where she and her husband serve as lead pastors while also working in secular fields outside the church.During college and as a former Miss Northeast Texas USA and Miss East Texas USA, Maranda's passion for style and fashion drew her into the closets of friends to help boost their confidence and excitement to look and feel their very best. In this episode I sat down with Maranda Bower, founder of Postpartum University, and we talked about how sometimes saying No to things means saying Yes to yourself. In the busy every day life of moms who are also entrepreneurs, it's entirely too easy to get in the habit of spreading yourself too thin.  Between caring for family and business, both of which have significant importance, we often put our needs last.  We lose sight of the fact that our needs should be put first... that's what we tell our postpartum doula clients, right?  But how can we prioritize our own health and well being while making sure everyone else's needs are taken care of?The answer is simple.  Learn now to say no.  Learn how to set clear boundaries.Learn from Maranda.Maranda shares the tips and tricks that she has learned over the years that have made it easy for her to have it all.  She tells us how she simultaneously grew her family and her business, is now a full time student, yet feels like she hasn't had to sacrifice anything that's important to her along the way.She is nothing short of inspiring! You can find out more about Maranda and her programs at www.postpartumuniversity.com.You can find me at:www.hiptoheart.comhttps://www.instagram.com/hiptoheartRegister for the Hip to Heart Birth Boss Academy here:https://www.hiptoheart.com/birth-boss-academyApply to the Hip to Heart Agency Masterclass here:https://www.hiptoheart.com/agency-transition-classJoin my Facebook group for Birth + Postpartum Professionalshttps://www.facebook.com/groups/businessforbirth

Bible Reading: Revelation 21:1-4; 22:1-5"Mom, I wish I could explain colors to Lindy," said Maranda. Lindy was a friend from church who was blind. "When I was at the park with her this afternoon, we overhead some people talking about how blue the sky was, and she told me she wished she could understand what that meant." Maranda sighed. "I've tried to explain it to her, but she just doesn't understand what I'm talking about.""I know. Since she's always been blind, it's hard for her to understand what color is like because she's never experienced it," said Mom. "Her other senses seem to be more in tune than ours though. For example, she recognizes a lot of people by their footsteps."Just then Beckett arrived home from Bible club. "I'm starving! Is there anything to eat?""There's some carrots and dip in the fridge," said Mom. "What did you learn at Bible club, Beckett?""We learned about heaven and what it will be like when Jesus returns and makes everything perfect," Beckett said as he got out a plate. "It sounds cool, but it's hard to imagine what it will be like. The Bible talks about it, but I don't understand it very well.""Neither do I," said Maranda. "My teacher tried to explain what it would be like, but…" She shrugged. "I can't quite picture what we'll be doing there all the time. I guess it will be a lot different."Mom thought for a moment. "Maranda, remember how difficult--even impossible--it is for Lindy to understand what colors are? In the same way, it's hard--impossible--for us to understand exactly what it will be like when Jesus gives us perfect bodies and makes all things new. We won't totally know that until it happens.""What if we don't like it there?" asked Beckett."Do you think Lindy wishes she could see--even though she doesn't really understand what it's like?" Mom asked."Of course," said Maranda. "From what people tell her, she knows that it's wonderful to be able to see." Maranda smiled. "And one day she will! One day Lindy will see Jesus face-to-face.""And so will we," said Mom. "Everyone who knows Him as their Savior will spend eternity with Him, and it will be better than anything we can imagine." – Tanya FerdinanduszHow About You?Do you have questions about heaven? Do you wonder what life will be like when Jesus returns and makes everything new? Heaven will certainly be different from your life on earth now, but you can be sure that it will be wonderful--and far better than anything we enjoy here. Best of all, Jesus will be there! We will finally see Him face-to-face, and we'll live with Him forever.Today's Key Verse:Now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face.
