Disco Fever all the rage and how music is measured.Jerolyn Sue Adolph Evans, the Primary First Counselor, is in a bit of a pickle. Quentin Scott got poison ivy from picking blackberries, and she's clueless about what to do. Linda Talbot, Second Counselor, is also on the case. Quentin thought his mom was literally lost, and no one wants to go with Jerolyn because they're all swamped with work. Wendy and Larry Fitzgerald have such a lovely place. Quentin ended up sleeping at MawMaw's house. She misses Deron P. Scarabin and only has Rachel Guidry to hang out with. They even sang Rhinestone Cowboy a bit. Bill Evans mentioned that MawMaw said everyone missed church earlier, but now Uncle Bill says MawMaw didn't go to church. MawMaw is Quentin's Primary teacher. Sports banquet and Bill got something special and "Jerolyn hasn't matured yet." They gave all the coaches "Coach of the Year" plaques. Mikelson decided to go to Nashville and make $21K. Bill's dad retired and sold everything but one tractor. All his parents' bills paid and no debt so they should be fine. Jerolyn said she might be "fat" by the time Scarabins return. Jerolyn has to have a CB. Quentin is Steve Austin but now Evil Knievel and Jerolyn is Disco Lady. Helen on Mother's Day. Clarence sprained his ankle helping Larry move. Handful of "tomaters." Uncle Nicky gave some cucumbers. Many beans and squash is great. Eggplant and bell peppers everywhere. Clarence will start working on sewer line. Helen feels like Quentin wanting us to talk back on the tape. Helen is out of "draws." Loves to hear from Scarabins. Wendy's backyard is so pretty. Only bad part is rain piles up in one spot. MawMaw called to be Primary Teacher and Secretary. Accepted Teacher position but refused the Secretary position because she can't write. Go up and down the steps forty times a day but rarely sees neighbors. Twice she talked without recording. Clarence "hollering." They pay the bills for the Scarabins as they come in. Gail had to work so Helen is watching Brent Edward Portie. Larry had fallen down with baby (John Dirk). Baby was fine but Larry was banged up and bruised. Emmett Adolph giving well wishes. Yvonne got a CB radio and real proud of it, carrying on with Helen Mae. Drinking a cold beer after coming from the pumping station. Yvonne Adolph sends well wishes. Everyone giggling "trying to talk to the stupid thing." Bad weather. Yvonne is the Lollipop, the name Marilyn gave Annie Adolph Chapman. Janelle Adolph gets on and gives an update on shrimping and how Mrs. Lizzy is enjoying her new job. Said her doctor going to get on her about weight gain. Sally's been sick. E.J. and Sue looked at Marilyn's trailer and tired waiting on it. Carolyn and Kyle Bergeron. Carolyn cracks up over Marilyn's grocery experience. Said Gail is still sitting and Craig made a home run in baseball. Horace said they just made errors. Kyle gets on and says Mrs. Hernandez will write to Jason. Kyle's keeping bikes clean and can't wait for us to come home. Craig updates on baseball and how much fun he's having. Horace has flu. Wendy has moved in her trailer. Don't let D.D. get beat up by the rocks. Edna Adolph updates. Fresh peaches and going to visit Pam and baby. Everyone has CBs down there. She's Hunny Bunny and Ernest is Gingerbread Man. Carolyn is Bewitched and Yvonne is Lollipop. She almost bowled 200. Gail Portie, May 11. Spending night at Helen's with Brent. Eddie's horse had baby. Brent wants to talk but didn't know what to say. Wendy has such a nice trailer. Made Gail "plum sick." Only complaint is ugly green carpet. Brent talks about his horses. Ernest Adolph and Edna brought some delicious peaches. PawPaw soaking his foot and "sure looks bad." Tomatoes coming in. Brent says a few words. Someone mistakenly thought D.D. gone overseas on mission instead of working at copper mine. JoAnne Ragas Scarabin. May 13. Helen and Clarence finish tape with more talk on the trailer park.

Following in the footsteps of jockeys like Jeff Lloyd, Robbie Fradd and Larry Cassidy, Vlad Duric has chosen Brisbane as home base for the latter years of his riding career. Vlad arrived in Queensland early last year after a wonderfully successful six years in Singapore where he won four local jockey's premierships and a host of feature races. A Doomben treble got him away to a flying start and the winners have continued to flow. The veteran rider says his passion for race riding hasn't diminished. Vlad talks about the great support he's received from Brisbane trainers since arriving in Queensland. He talks about a quartet of stakes wins to come his way including the Gr 2 Victory Stakes on talented galloper Antino. Vlad says he decided on a brief stint in his native Victoria last August  to coincide with the beginning of daughter Sage's riding career. The jockey was surprised and delighted to pick up rides from old friends. To ride a couple of Gippsland winners was a bonus. Vlad acknowledges the talents of his 22 year old daughter, and brings us up to date on the career direction taken by Sage's sisters Lily and Audrey. He pays tribute to his wife Storm, herself a former jockey who rode ten winners in a brief career. Vlad reveals the European origins of his first and second names and reflects on the support he was given by hard working parents Steve And Elina when he opted for a riding career.  He looks back on his apprenticeship to Cranbourne trainer Alan Williams and the enduring friendship he formed with Alan's son Craig. The forty seven year old looks back on the milestone achievements of his early career- first winner, first city winner and initial Gr 1 success. Vlad fondly remembers Gr 1 winner Bon Hoffa as the first high quality horse he got to ride. He sings the praises of Bon Hoffa's trainer Wendy Kelly. Appropriately Vlad Duric pays a lengthy tribute to Master O'Reilly, a horse he rode in 30 races and the horse to take him to racing's biggest stage with a Caulfield Cup win in 2007. There are some interesting sidelights to the Master O'Reilly story, especially the drama in the barriers before the running of the Caulfield Cup.   Vlad remembers his first trip to Singapore in 2009 and the flying start he gained on brilliant three year old Gingerbread Man. He won 51 races in his first season.    He looks back on a return to Victoria and his association with the very talented horse Mourinho. He won the Gr 1 Underwood Stakes on Mourinho plus three other Gr 2 races.   Vlad comprehensively covers his return to Singapore and a six year stay that brought him  four jockeys premierships and many feature races. He looks back on the outstanding horses and horsemen who made it all possible.   There were a handful of health related low points in the latter stages of his time in Singapore. He says he was stopped in his tracks on three occasions.   Vlad Duric has been a popular and well respected jockey for more than three decades. He shares his story with us in a most entertaining way.

Have you ever been "breadcrumbed"? Breadcrumbing is defined as a distinct way of leading someone on where a person communicates frequently enough to keep the other person interested (aka leaving "breadcrumbs") but not enough to form an actual relationship. This week we discuss the idea of bread crumbing and relationships we've been involved in that may have fit those dynamics. We also discuss how to end those types of toxic situations and what we should actually strive for. Enjoyed this episode? Today's episode kicks off a brand new series on the show, which is all about leadership. Our first guest is Director of the Academy Awards-nominated Shrek 2, and Director of the ground-breaking animated movie, Sausage Party. It's none other than Conrad Vernon (who also happens to be the voice of Gingy from Shrek)!  In this first episode of the series, we're talking all about how to lead with creativity when it counts, and you won't want to miss our upcoming episodes on leadership!  If this episode inspired you in some way, take a screenshot of you listening on your device and post it to your Instagram Stories, and tag us @jameswedmore, @jeunejenni and @conniev711.  One of the reasons I'm doing this leadership series is that Jen and I are so passionate about cultivating leadership within yourself and your team, if you want to grow a great business and discover new levels of unleashed performance in your life! We are so excited to announce our 3-day live, immersive and transformational workshop that we are hosting in Phoenix, Arizona, this March 29th, 30th and 31st, called Indispensable Leadership. In it, we'll walk you through over a decade of tools, exercises and distinctions that we have embodied in our organizations in order to unleash performance in our team, and of course, ourselves. If you're ready to transform yourself and step into the role that your business needs of you, and make a difference in more people's lives, then we invite you to join us for this very special event. The best part is that as a special listener of our podcast, I want to give you $100 off your ticket price! At checkout, simply use the code “PODCAST” and you'll instantly receive this discount. I want to invite you to help contribute to this podcast by submitting a question for a #Q&AEdition of The Mind Your Business Podcast. All you have to do is go to http://jameswedmore.com/QA and record a question (under 4 minutes or less) that could be featured on an upcoming episode. In this episode you'll hear: Why Conrad says that leadership is about so much more than just who the leader is How he learned valuable leadership lessons on his own journey  What to say, and not say, to get the most out of your team and some of the ways that DreamWorks Animation cultivates team moral  How Conrad responds to both the good and bad ideas that are brought to him  What it's like working on a film with multiple directors  Conrad's thoughts on getting creativity from your team members  An example of a difficult conversation that he had to have as a leader  The story of how Conrad became the voice of the Gingerbread Man in Shrek Why he says that the money in any venture comes from doing something differently, and how he is pushing new boundaries in the field of animation  What Conrad advises do to integrate new employees into a high-performing team  For full show notes and links, visit: https://www.mindyourbusinesspodcast.com/blog/596
