Welcome back to Capture The Magic! This week we're diving into all the latest Disney World news and there's honestly so much happening right now. First up, Disney just dropped their complete 4th of July food and drink guide and wow, there are some seriously patriotic treats coming our way. We're talking red, white and blue everything across all four parks. Plus we finally got more details about what to expect story-wise when Monstropolis opens at Magic Kingdom. The new land is going to be way more immersive than we initially thought. Speaking of new stuff, Toy Story 5 is bringing some cool passholder perks to Hollywood Studios, and everyone can grab that new Bullseye popcorn bucket. But if you wanted that Lightning McQueen popcorn bucket that just dropped, good luck because it sold out almost immediately. Classic Disney popcorn bucket chaos strikes again. Over at EPCOT, La Poutinerie is opening July 1st and we've got the full menu with pricing. Spoiler alert, it's not exactly budget-friendly but those loaded fries look incredible. And if you've been wanting to do brunch at Citricos, now's your chance since they're moving the Grand Floridian Cafe brunch over there. We're also reviewing those Mickey churro waffles from Spyglass Grill that everyone's been talking about, plus we tried some of the new Bluey treats at Pizzafari. Let's just say one of us was way more excited about Bluey than the other. Plus we're chatting about our recent park experiences including that busy Animation Courtyard, the updated Smuggler's Run experience with Mando and Grogu, and why Soarin' Across America hits different every single time. Make sure to comment with your thoughts on all this Disney World news, smash that like button if you're excited about any of these updates, subscribe if you haven't already, and definitely hit that notification bell so you never miss an episode! Disney has finally revealed the story behind Monstropolis at Disney's Hollywood Studios, and we're breaking down everything announced. From H.U.M.A.N. Day and the Department of Human Relations to Harryhausen's Restaurant, the Glob Theater, and new details about the highly anticipated Monsters, Inc. door coaster, Disney is beginning to paint a clearer picture of what guests can expect when they step into Monstropolis. We discuss why Disney chose to set the land after the events of Monsters, Inc., whether H.U.M.A.N. Day is a clever storytelling solution, what these new details mean for Hollywood Studios, and the question many fans are still asking: was it worth losing MuppetVision 3D? Join us as we explore the latest chapter in Disney's plans for Monstropolis and what it could mean for the future of the park. On this episode: H.U.M.A.N. Jim Hill and Lauren Hersey dig into Disney's latest wave of merch-driven experiences, from a London pop-up built around Disney UU collectibles to Trader Sam's 15th anniversary tiki mug celebration. They also track the growing Toy Story 5 promotional push, including Papa John's Pizza Planet packaging, movie theater collectibles, and Grogu's new blue Nilla Nummies. Then Jim turns to Disney's newly reimagined Animation Courtyard at Hollywood Studios and asks whether Disney will properly honor the Florida animation team that helped create Mulan, Lilo & Stitch, Brother Bear, and more. NEWS • Disney tests another ticketed-style merch experience with a Disney UU collectible pop-up in London. • Trader Sam's Enchanted Tiki Bar celebrates 15 years with a new anniversary mug and expanded food offerings. • Papa John's rolls out Pizza Planet boxes and Toy Story 5 personal pan pizzas tied to the film's release. • AMC, Cinemark, and Regal prepare exclusive Toy Story 5 popcorn buckets, cups, blankets, and collectible tie-ins. • Grogu gets his own blue Nilla Nummies cookies as Mandalorian and Grogu merch keeps expanding. FEATURE • Jim looks at the newly opened Animation Courtyard at Disney's Hollywood Studios. • The reimagined space pays tribute to Disney's California animation history, from Hyperion to Burbank. • The conversation turns to the often-overlooked legacy of Walt Disney Feature Animation Florida. • Jim hopes the finished Magic of Disney Animation attraction includes meaningful nods to Mulan, Lilo & Stitch, Brother Bear, John Henry, and the artists who made them. Cody Berman had the $80,000 corporate job straight out of college, the four-hour daily commute, and the career path everyone said he should want. He hated all of it. By 25, he was financially free -- not because he stumbled into crypto or built a unicorn startup, but because he obsessively maximized the gap between what he made and what he spent, tried 30 different side hustles until a few of them worked, and built a life around what he actually valued. His new book is called Retire by 30. This episode is the conversation behind it.What You'll Walk Away WithWhy the title Retire by 30 is deliberately misleading -- and what Cody says the book is actually aboutThe gap: why the spread between income and expenses matters more than your investment returns, especially at the beginningHow Cody's co-host Justin hit financial freedom at 30 without a single side hustle -- just strategic corporate moves, index funds, and a 75-80% savings rateThe house hacking math: why living in a multi-family property created a $3,000+ monthly swing compared to friends paying Boston rentWhat happened when Cody tried to sell Lauren on FIRE using a spreadsheet -- and the reframe that actually workedWhy the big three (housing, transportation, food) move the needle infinitely more than cutting lattes and canceling NetflixThe 30-side-hustle graveyard: which ones were the worst, which one was the most ridiculous, and the one breakout that still generates income todayPurple's story: how someone retired on $500,000 and now has $1.1 million without adding another dollar to the pileThe surprising thing financial freedom actually teaches you about yourself -- and why it's never a money problem after you hit the numberWhat AI is actually good at for personal finance -- and why the more you already know, the better its answers getWhy This Matters NowWhether you're 25 or 55, the math Cody lays out is the same: find the gap, protect the gap, invest the difference, and build a life you don't need to escape from. The age you start determines the timeline, not the framework. This episode is the one to send to anyone in their 20s who hasn't started -- and anyone in their 40s who thinks it's too late. From the BasementCody Berman joins Joe and OG -- who is recording from inside Hollywood Studios at Coach Con -- to walk through the Retire by 30 framework, the 30 side hustles he actually tried, and the case studies from the book that prove it works in wildly different ways. The USA Today AI financial advice headline gives OG a full platform to explain where AI is genuinely useful, where it confidently hallucinates IRS codes, and why it apparently tried to blackmail a corporate email server. Doug arrives with Trader Joe's trivia after discovering the hard way that cider contains alcohol. Most DIY investors spend their energy optimizing investments. The wealthiest investors optimize systems. According to Vanguard, a great advisor can add roughly 3% to your portfolio -- not by picking better stocks, but by keeping you from wrecking what you already have and by making the boring structural decisions most people skip. Joe and OG walk through the return boosters that actually move the needle, none of which involve a single exotic investment. OG and Anna follow up with the retirement withdrawal sequence that turns a good tax strategy into a great one. What You'll Walk Away WithWhy staying invested is the single highest-return move available to most investors -- and the Wall Street Journal archive experiment that proves it better than any chartHow news addiction creates the three portfolio killers: panic selling, market timing, and the constant feeling that today is the day to make a moveWhy your investment policy statement is a shock absorber between your emotions and your account -- and why advisors often beat DIY investors not by picking better funds but by being harder to reach on bad daysAsset location: the quiet return booster that moves money into the right tax shelter without changing a single investmentWhy tax loss harvesting is widely marketed to the wrong people -- and who actually has a strong use case for itSocial Security timing as a portfolio decision: why "I don't have to decide today" is sometimes the most financially sophisticated answer availableThe sequence of return risk trap that turns retirement into a constant anxiety loop -- and the simple margin of safety that makes it irrelevantThe lightning round: concentrated stock, leverage, crypto yield products, options trading, rebalancing, and tax efficiency -- return or trouble?OG and Anna on the distribution ladder: how to sequence withdrawals from pre-tax, brokerage, and Roth accounts to minimize taxes in retirementWhat IRMAA is, why it shows up two years after the decision that caused it, and why Roth conversions need to happen in November -- not MarchWhy This Matters NowIf you've been dollar-cost averaging into index funds and calling it a day, this episode is the next conversation. The gap between a well-built system and a random pile of investments isn't measured in which funds you chose -- it's measured in taxes paid, sequence of returns survived, and whether you had a plan when everything felt uncertain. From the BasementJoe and OG dig into the return boosters that have nothing to do with picking better investments -- recorded while OG is already inside Hollywood Studios at 4 AM trying to figure out the Lightning Lane math. OG and Anna deliver episode four of their financial basics series with a full walkthrough of tax-efficient withdrawal sequencing, including the IRMAA trap, Roth conversion timing, and why the tax triangle you built in season one is the whole point. Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring the Muppets and Millennium Falcon Smuggler's Run (featuring The Mandalorian and Grogu) opened at Disney's Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World on May 26, 2026. These new experiences include a heightened degree of Imagineering details, especially Rock 'n' Roller Coaster, which now combines the legacy Disney attraction with Muppet Vision 3D and Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem. In this episode, we discuss how Disney updated these attractions in a quick period of time and the easter eggs you won't want to miss from either attraction. Plus, I interview four Walt Disney Imagineers who worked on these experiences, including Bette Lombardi (Producer), Vanessa Huber (Project Manager), Justin DeTolla (Creative Director), and Morgan McDowell (Senior Software Project Manager). We're putting two of Walt Disney World's most beloved Deluxe Resorts head-to-head as Disney's Yacht Club Resort takes on Disney's Beach Club Resort. These sister resorts may share Stormalong Bay and a prime Crescent Lake location, but they offer two very different vacation vibes — and we're breaking it all down to decide which one comes out on top. We compare Yacht Club's refined nautical elegance and quieter, more adult-leaning atmosphere against Beach Club's bright, beachy energy and family-friendly charm. From theming and room comfort to dining, transportation, recreation, and overall value, each resort battles it out round by round in classic Resort Wars fashion. We also discuss fan-favorite dining locations like Yachtsman Steakhouse, Ale & Compass, Cape May Cafe, and Beaches & Cream, plus the unbeatable walkability to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios that makes this resort area one of the best on property. If you're trying to decide which resort is best for your next Walt Disney World vacation — whether you're planning an adults-only getaway, family trip, festival weekend, or pool-focused staycation — this episode should help you decide which side of Crescent Lake deserves your vote.

Dayna is back from Walt Disney World with firsthand updates from some of the newest experiences in the parks! Dayna shares what changed, what stayed the same, and whether the Muppets overlay works on one of Hollywood Studios' most iconic thrill rides. Jess also gives her very honest thoughts on the Muppets, Aerosmith, and why this retheme may not be winning her over just yet. Plus, the crew talks EPCOT Flower & Garden Festival, nostalgic Disney smells, new park green spaces, snacky snacks, and another round of John's 15-word Disney attraction guessing game. Our text for this 1934 RKO Studios Year by Year episode is a William A. Seiter double feature distinguished by ultra-manipulative heroines and a simultaneous fascination with and unsubtle criticism of the rich: the comedy We're Rich Again, which earns a comparison to Preston Sturges for its innovative use of comedy tropes (particularly the high-concept heroine, brilliantly embodied by Marian Nixon), and the comedy-melodrama The Richest Girl in the World, with a demented Jamesian plot courtesy of noted screenwriter Norman Krasna and Miriam Hopkins in the title role. If Marian Nixon is playing six-dimensional chess with her wealthy relatives, Miriam Hopkins is moving her friends and love interest around like chess pieces. If that's not enough, we're also introducing a new segment in this episode: So This Is Sarris! (Dave's title; Elise wanted "Sarris It Ain't So!") In this Letterman-inspired segment, we use AI to randomly pick an entry from Andrew Sarris's The American Cinema and then riff on his opinion of the director. Who's our first director? We'll talk about the realities of Disney car camping, including setup, comfort, requesting the perfect campsite near the comfort station, nighttime campground vibes, and whether we'd actually do it again. Along the way, we packed in a ton of attractions across Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, and Hollywood Studios, including Tower of Terror, Toy Story Mania, TRON, Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion, and more. Of course, there's also plenty of food discussion, including breakfast at Steakhouse 71, drinks and snacks at The Beak and Barrel, flatbreads at Baseline Tap House, dinner at Trail's End Restaurant, and an impromptu brunch stop at Chef Art Smith's Homecomin' before heading home. Disney Parks Podcast Show #928- The COMPLETE History of Disney's Hollywood Studios Parades & Street Entertainment (1989–Today) Step back into the incredible history of parades, street processions, motorcades, and live entertainment at Disney’s Hollywood Studios!
We break down our lunch buffet experience, from the atmosphere and character interactions to the food quality, variety, desserts, service, and overall value at Hollywood and Vine inside Disney's Hollywood Studios. We'll talk about what stood out, what fell flat, and whether Hollywood & Vine deserves its often mixed reputation among Walt Disney World fans. We also discuss the current pricing, which comes in at $64 per adult and $44 per child (ages 3–9), plus tax and gratuity, and whether we think it's worth paying full price. Luckily, we were able to take advantage of the current 40% off Annual Passholder dining discount, which definitely impacted the overall value conversation. If you've been debating whether Hollywood & Vine is worth booking for your next trip, especially with character dining prices continuing to rise, this episode should help you decide if this buffet is a hidden gem, a one-and-done experience, or somewhere in between.
We get really clingy this week at The Horror Returns. Cool of the week includes THR TAKEOVER, Punisher, Mortal Kombat II, and Disney's Hollywood Studios. Trailers are Her Private Hell and Hope. This week on Where We Roam, we're talking location, location, location with a Disney Resort Showdown featuring three of our favorite Walt Disney World resorts close to the parks: Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge, Disney's Polynesian Village Resort, and Disney's Yacht Club Resort. But first, Dayna joins us live from Disney's Hollywood Studios with a Disney Parks update, including her experience riding Soarin' Across America at EPCOT and the anticipation around Muppets Electric Mayhem taking over Rock 'n' Roller Coaster. Then we go head-to-head-to-head with three very different Disney deluxe resorts. Animal Kingdom Lodge brings the savanna views, incredible theming, and some of the best resort dining at Disney World. The Polynesian delivers Monorail access, tropical vibes, Magic Kingdom convenience, and classic Disney nostalgia. Yacht Club brings the EPCOT resort area, walkability, Stormalong Bay, and easy access to both EPCOT and Hollywood Studios. We rank each resort across the categories that matter most: location and transportation, theme and atmosphere, room size and layout, food and beverage, pools and amenities, and overall value. Which Disney resort wins when location is the name of the game? Listen in as we debate three Walt Disney World favorites and crown our winner.

Between graduation week, home renovations, audio issues, nonstop schedules, and Facebook accounts getting hacked — which also impacted parts of the Main Street Magic community — life has officially gotten VERY lifey around here. In this honest and unfiltered update, we share what's been going on behind the scenes, why we're temporarily pausing episodes, what happened with the Facebook hack, and what's next for Main Street Magic moving forward. We also talk about the importance of building community outside of social media, why we're asking everyone to join our email list at MainStMagic.com, and some exciting Disney plans we still have coming up including camping at Fort Wilderness, Hollywood & Vine, Muppets taking over Rock 'n' Roller Coaster, Big Thunder Mountain reopening, new food reviews, and more. Most importantly, this episode is a reminder that sometimes life piles up all at once — and sometimes you just have to take the “next play” and keep moving forward. Thank you all for the support, patience, messages, and kindness over the past few days. We appreciate this community more than you know.
Your resort is 30–40% of your Walt Disney World budget. That means this isn'tjust a comfort decision — it's one of the most important financial decisionsof your entire trip. In this episode, Kelly Bennett breaks down every Value andModerate resort at Walt Disney World so you know exactly where to stay, whatyou're getting, and how to pay less for it.You'll learn why Pop Century Resort might be the single best value hotel onWalt Disney World property (hint: it involves a gondola ride to EPCOT), howArt of Animation's family suites can actually be the smart money move forlarger families, and which Moderate resort has a 15-story tower that mostDisney planners completely overlook.Key takeaways from this episode:• Pop Century's Skyliner access to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios is a real, meaningful transportation advantage over the All-Star resorts• Art of Animation family suites (565 sq ft, 2 bathrooms, sleep 6) can beat the math of booking two standard Value rooms for larger families• Coronado Springs' Gran Destino Tower delivers Deluxe-quality rooms at Moderate prices — the most underrated resort at Walt Disney World• Disney releases room-only discounts (typically 20–35% off) multiple times per year — booking at rack rate is almost always avoidable• The split-stay strategy lets you stay at two resorts on one trip while Disney handles the luggage transfer for freeResources mentioned:Disney Budget Master Workbook ($27) — MyDisneyBrain.comWalt Disney World First-Timer's Complete Planning Guide ($37) — MyDisneyBrain.comNew Opening / My Disney Brain 2023Buzzsprout - Let's get your podcast launched! We're checking into a brand-new game of Disney Truth or Dare: Resort Edition—where the hot takes are strong, the choices are painful, and absolutely no Walt Disney World hotel is safe. After tackling the parks, it was time to turn our attention to the resorts—and things got surprisingly intense. From impossible monorail resort eliminations and brutally honest opinions about overrated hotels, to debates over the best lobby smell, transportation system, pool, and nighttime atmosphere, we put each other on the spot with random Truth or Dare questions pulled straight from the hats. The rules are simple: pick Truth or Dare, draw a random prompt, and answer honestly. No skipping, no changing your answer halfway through, and no hiding behind “well, it depends.” That means some strong opinions were shared… and some may upset even the most loyal Disney resort fans. Over the course of the episode, we each answered 10 randomly selected questions, and along the way, there were plenty of laughs, a few moments of genuine shock, and at least a couple answers that immediately sparked debate. Whether you're loyal to the monorail loop, obsessed with Crescent Lake, love the Skyliner resorts, or proudly defend Port Orleans French Quarter with your whole heart, this episode is packed with fun Disney resort discussions that every Walt Disney World fan can jump into. So grab your favorite lobby scent, settle into your favorite resort chair, and play along with us as Disney Truth or Dare heads to the hotels!

In this episode of Dudes Dish Disney, the guys head to a galaxy far, far away to break down all the latest updates and changes coming to Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge at Disneyland Park—and debate how (or if) those ideas could make the jump across the country to Disney's Hollywood Studios.Expect hot takes, big ideas, and a few out-of-this-world pitches as the dudes imagine what the future of Galaxy's Edge could look like on both coasts. If you're a Star Wars fan or a Disney parks junkie, this is one hyperspace discussion you won't want to miss.
We're diving deep into all the entertainment aboard the brand-new Disney Destiny — from Broadway-style stage spectaculars and immersive themed lounges to trivia, game shows, deck parties, live music, and everything in between. If you're wondering what's actually worth your time onboard, this is the episode for you. We break down Disney Cruise Line's newest entertainment offerings, including our full thoughts on Hercules, Frozen: A Musical Spectacular, and Seas the Adventure, discussing everything from the live vocals and special effects and emotional moments that make Disney cruise entertainment so unique. Beyond the theater, we explore the ship's bars and lounges including De Vil's Piano Lounge, the mysterious Sanctum Lounge, the Haunted Mansion Parlor, and the pirate-inspired Cask and Cannon. We talk atmosphere, theming, crowd vibe, hidden details, late-night energy, and even some of the surprisingly impressive zero-proof cocktail offerings onboard. Of course, Disney cruises are about more than stage shows and lounges, so we also cover Pirate Night, Sail Away celebrations, trivia, Match Your Mate, live music, character encounters, Funnel Vision movies, and all the little entertainment moments that help bring the ship to life throughout the sailing. And finally, we head ashore to Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point to discuss the beaches, food, entertainment, cultural influences, layout, and how it compares to Castaway Cay, and our thoughts may surprise you! Whether you're sailing on the Disney Destiny soon or just love hearing about all things Disney Cruise Line, this episode is packed with honest opinions, laughs, tips, and plenty of Disney magic.
From smoky barbecue on the pool deck to elegant multi-course meals in one of the most upscale restaurant Disney Cruise Line has ever created, we're breaking down every single dining experience aboard the brand-new Disney Destiny. On this episode, we cover it all — the hits, the surprises, the snacks, the desserts, the late-night bites, and yes… even the meals that didn't quite live up to the hype. We dive deep into the rotational dining experiences including Worlds of Marvel, Pride Lands: Feast of The Lion King, and 1923, sharing our favorite dishes, standout desserts, and zero-proof drinks, and which restaurants truly delivered the full Disney magic. Along the way, we talk quick service favorites at Mickey & Friends Festival of Foods, the buffet offerings at Marceline Market, coffee shops and sweet treats around the ship, room service, and more. And then there's Enchanté. Going into this sailing, Enchanté by Chef Arnaud Lallement was one of the experiences we were most excited for. With its luxurious Beauty and the Beast-inspired atmosphere and premium price point, expectations were sky high. But did it actually deliver? Let's just say… we had thoughts. Honest ones. Some dishes impressed us, others left us the opposite of impressed, and the overall experience sparked one of the most candid conversations we've ever had on the podcast. This episode is packed with detailed food reviews, plenty of laughs, unexpected opinions, and the kind of honest conversation that we think helps listeners know what's truly worth their time and money aboard the Disney Destiny. Whether you're sailing soon or just dreaming about your next cruise, come hungry for this one.
You can learn a lot about a running community by the questions they ask, and this week our listeners showed up with everything from serious marathon nerves to wildly fun runDisney hypotheticals. We dig into smart offseason training so you do not drift between race weekends: setting a local goal race, building an aerobic base, adding strength and mobility, and respecting summer heat. We also get specific on proof of time strategy, including why certain distances help, what counts for different runDisney weekends, and how planning ahead can change your corral placement and your whole race-day experience. Then we jump into listener questions that are pure runDisney joy. We design dream Disney race courses with more time inside the parks, more Animal Kingdom and Pandora, a better Hollywood Studios stretch, and the return of that iconic World Showcase finish that feels like a true victory lap. We talk bucket list races outside of runDisney, bucket list moments inside Disney, and whether you should chase Dopey, Goofy, or “just the marathon” based on what you actually want your weekend to feel like. The mindset talk gets real when we answer how to calm first-time Dopey and first-time marathon anxiety. We lean on trust-the-process training, run-walk pacing, and practical mental tricks for hard miles and lonely long runs, including music, podcasts, community messages, and finding a group that supports interval runners. Plus, we debate the most important question of all: if you could replace gels with Disney snacks as on-course fuel, what would you pick?If you love runDisney, marathon training, and a community that celebrates every PR, every proof of time, and every finish, hit play.
