“Inspiration is like communication with your soul's purpose,” explains Tony Martignetti, Chief Inspiration Officer of Inspired Purpose Coaching. Tony uses his 25 years of experience to inspire others to find and embrace their purpose through his work as a coach, speaker, author, and podcast host. He joins Mike Horne in conversation to discuss how he found his path and how he uses what he has learned to help others find theirs. While working in the financial industry, Tony realized he had been trying to fit himself into a box based on what he felt society wanted. After years of working in an industry he wasn't passionate about, Tony started to feel depressed and burned out. It wasn't until he opened himself up to the possibility of doing something else, that Tony found his purpose– inspiring others to challenge their worldviews and discover their hidden purposes. He encourages people to take stock of their lives and really notice signals that may be pointing them in a different direction from their current professions. According to Tony, if you are open to inspiration, meditation, and looking for the clues, your purpose will be much easier to find. Stop trudging along the same path just to fit yourself into the wrong box. Tune into this week's episode of the Authentic Change Podcast to learn more about how to find the inspiration you need to fulfill your true purpose. Quotes: “What does it look like to get up to that place that we aspire to? What's at the top of the mountain? And that's something that is ingrained in us to want to strive and do more, and that's perfectly normal. We should want to strive for something bigger. The big question is making sure that we're doing it for the right reasons, and we're striving to go on a path that we've defined for ourselves, and we're careful not to just look at what society and other people want for us and just kind of blindly trudge up the mountain.” (4:20-5:03 | Tony) “I would continue to force myself to fit into a world that I thought I had to fit into. And as I continued to do that, I wanted to be as perfect as possible at being that finance expert and fit into a box that I put myself in, but also felt like the world wanted me to be put in. And that is what started to limit me and close me in.” (10:50-11:16 | Tony) “If you're looking at the weeks ahead, and you're realizing that you have nothing on your calendar that you're excited about, or nothing that really interests you, and you're starting to lose that excitement to get into the office, or even to turn on your computer, then those are signs that things are starting to come to a darker place.” (12:31-12:55 | Tony) “The interesting thing about inspiration is the elements are really looking for the clues and opening yourself up to experiences that might possibly bring you to your purpose. Inspiration is like communication with your soul's purpose.” (17:44-18:03 | Tony) “If you want to have more meaning and purpose in your life, one of the things that's important to do is to not put yourself in a box and to make sure that you get expansive. So move yourself. If you think that, ‘This is who I am, This is how I define myself,' maybe question how you're defining yourself because your purpose could be on the other side of that.” (27:01-27:23 | Tony) Links: Mentioned in this episode: Learn more about Mike Horne on Linkedin Email Mike at mike@mike-horne.com Find more about Leading People and Culture with Authenticity Learn more about Tony Martignetti: Website: inspiredpurposecoach.com LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/tonymartignett1/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/TonyMartignett1 Podcast production and show notes provided by HiveCast.fm

What does it mean to be truly fulfilled? And how does that differ from being happy? In this episode, featuring guest Tony Martignetti, we explore the notion of fulfillment. According to Tony, fulfillment is a mindset. As he says in his book, “Happiness and fulfillment are a place to come from, not a place to go to.” A pattern I've been noticing, especially post-pandemic and in the midst of the so-called “Great Resignation,” is people's overarching desire to do substantial work. The desire to do substantial work ties directly to the desire to be fulfilled. Listen as Tony and I explore these topics in the context of our current environment. In this episode of the Thoughtful Entrepreneur, your host Josh Elledge talks to the founder and Chief Inspiration Officer of https://www.inspiredpurposecoach.com/ (Inspired Purpose Coaching), Tony Martignetti. Tony details that he helps accomplished leaders climb the right mountains and connect with their own inspired purposes. Even high achievers can get lost when trying to find their purpose, and this is where Inspired Purpose Coaching can help. Tony shares that he does both one and one coaching as well as facilitated group activities that help these leaders grow as a team. Bringing people together really made a big impact, Tony observed, and so this is how he does a lot of his work. Team building can be one of the best ways to uncover your purpose. Tony also explores the lessons he learned from his own experiences. He spent most of his life in the biomedical field – but he realized something was missing in his life. He was left feeling unfulfilled, burned out, and ultimately not happy. He wanted to change the view from his “mountaintop”, and so he tried something new, and this is how he found the path to coaching. Josh and Tony explore how to know when you're climbing the wrong mountain. Is each day feeling more like a chore? What is causing your lack of fulfillment? Tony shares thoughts on which paths to explore and take and he advises experimenting rather than taking a big leap until you're ready. Don't put it off forever, either, but don't rush into things when you need to do some soul searching first. Tony says that taking time for yourself to sort through these feelings and let these thoughts settle and reveal themselves is critical. Finding a new path requires adopting new perspectives. Tony and Josh also talk about finding balance. There's never a one size fits all solution to a problem – sometimes you have to take a step back and ask yourself if the results of what you want to do will have a negative impact. You have to move fast and slow and be both compassionate and accountable. Balance is the starting point, but that goes hand in hand with being humble in the face of new challenges. You won't have all the answers when the world is constantly changing – but you can solve problems flexibly. Offer intellectual humility, admit when you're not the expert, and be transparent with both yourself and your team to truly live your inspired purpose. Want to learn more? In today's episode, I chat with Tony Martignetti, Founder & Chief Inspiration Officer at Inspired Purpose Coaching, a Boston-based organization on a mission to elevate leaders and equip them with the tools to navigate through change. Tony's also the host of the Virtual Campfire Podcast, an Advisory Board member for a number of purpose-driven organizations, and an Executive Coach. Together we talked about all things personal transformation. Tony was kind enough to share his own personal story, the anecdotes & lessons he learned along the way, as a roadmap for others who may be seeking greater purpose in their lives. There's an illusion that people are more unhappy than ever before. Granted, with the pandemic, the Great Resignation, and a 24 hour news cycle, its not hard to find examples of what's not working. The fact is as a species, if we look at measurements like poverty, infant mortality, and economic prosperity, we've never been better off. Then why are so many people unhappy. Left feeling directionless, uninspired and unfulfilled? We dug into this topic, and many more in what was a really fun conversation. In the end it's about defining success for yourself and putting plans in place to achieve it. We had a great discussion and I hope you enjoy it. Tony Martignetti was a young artist and was told to find something to do with his life where he could make money. Put your gifts aside and learn a marketable skill, he was told. So, that's what he did. He eventually was working on some exciting biotech and life sciences solutions that helped a lot of people. But observing the lives and energy of fellow executives, while becoming aware of his own, made him realize this wasn't for him. At a moment of clarity, he walked out of a board meeting, gave his two weeks notice and started his journey of self-discovery and self-definition. This led him to start Inspired Purpose Coaching to help others find their ways and uncover their gifts. Why a DEEP BREATH? The answer is in this podcast. Pivoting not only takes motivation, it takes dedication. Tony Martignetti, Founder of Inspired Purpose Coaching, shares how to be the author of your life, not the reporter. He began executive coaching after experiencing two and a half decades of burnout and toxic leadership in the biotech industry, realizing he could help others avoid the same pitfalls he had to endure. He finds joy in helping executives and employees alike lead their careers in alignment with their passions, guiding them with a balanced approach to create environments that are as kind as they are assertive. In this episode of the People Leaders Podcast, we interview Tony Martignetti, Chief Inspiration Officer and Founder of Inspired Purpose Coaching. Tony is a leadership coach with a specialty in working with leaders and their teams to navigate through change and unlock their true potential. He is known for supporting leaders by helping them find clarity so that they can unlock their full potential and lead effectively. Throughout his career, he has gained some valuable lessons by working with high-performing leaders in many different organisations. Episode Highlights: Tony has been coaching leaders for a long time and loves seeing people go through the transformation process. Coaching is a powerful tool that can equip leaders to become aware of their inner capabilities. Tony says that coaching benefits both the coach and the “coachee”. Seeing the change in people is fulfilling at both ends. One of the biggest challenges faced by individuals and teams is the lack of security. People are afraid to speak up, especially in today's environment where most team meetings happen virtually. Psychological Safety: An important variant to think about especially during this pandemic. People need to feel safe and part of that is the trust shown by leaders. An element of caring is what builds an individual. Tony says that leaders should show a sense of compassion and care towards their team. Mental health is important and builds confidence in people. As a manager, leaders must demonstrate love, kindness and concern towards their team. Teams thrive in this environment because they feel a sense of security. Tony talks about Notion of Clarity - the “aha” moment that an individual experiences when they realise their True North. He also talks about his process and how there is no single prescribed method to coaching. Tony does however focus on the paradox around expanding vision to narrow focus. If you tap into and expand your field of vision, you look at the possibilities in front of you. You can then narrow your focus and execute your vision accordingly. Making changes is ultimately about choosing the right path to move forward. Tony hosts a Virtual Campfire Podcasts which is a virtual area for people to share their transformation stories. His guests focus on flashpoints in their life that may have ignited at some point turning their experience into a gift to the world. Tony also shares an emotional story about Anne Brennan, an iron woman who was at the top of her game and through personal life struggles ended up in a psych ward due to suicidal tendencies. In that darkest place she was able to rise up because she realised her gift was to help others raise their voices and make people aware of suicide. One of the main points Tony has driven during this interview is about people's growth journeys. Are you climbing the right mountain? People start the climb, only to realise that you aren't on the right mountain after all. What do you do when you realise that? Growth is not easy but it should be rewarding. If you aren't feeling that successful, or if you are feeling tired and angry, you can assume that's a clue to change. If you want to get to the top and you want the next chapter to start in your life, you need to change your path. Tony stresses the importance of coaching and the reason why it's powerful. Not everyone has the support structure they need in life. Coaching provides a non-judgemental safe place for an individual to grow and succeed.
