From the inventor of the Jetson ONE hoverbike comes a new innovation in an open-air concept. Designed in stealth, Tomasz Patan gave zero updates on his latest project before the bike's unveiling on May 1st. As part of the announcement, Patan released a video in which he can be seen gliding around a forest and through a valley on his newest creation, which he claims to be a ‘breakthrough in personal air mobility.'

From driving Ferrari to flying Jetson One, Peter Ternström did it all, as the president of Gran Turismo Events and Co-Founder of Jetson Aero. Mr. Ternström is an event organizer, published author, and avid private pilot with a goal to "make everybody a pilot". He gave us the pleasure to rewind how he and Thomas built Jetson as a company, from prototype to final product, and the team that made it happen, and why with every right we can call it a revolution in the industry. You can get the answer to why someone should buy Jetson One, what comes after it, and why the Polish potato was so important. Also, you can hear a thing or two about Montenegrin roads and embassies.

Peter Ternström hade en dröm om en flygande bil. När ingen annan uppfyllde den så gjorde han det själv. Nu är Jetson ONE uppe i luften och för ungefär en miljon kan du också äga en. Transcript welcome back to the Struck airspace engineering podcast i'm your co-host Dan Blewett on today's show got a great lineup first we'll talk about the rather rather desperate pilot shortage that's now gripping uh the u.s and also globally we'll talk about rolls-royce they've been testing one of their electric generators now exceeding one megawatt output which is insane we'll talk about uh hydrogen powered airliners the uk has revealed a plan that they think they can make a long-haul airliner work we'll see if alan agrees we'll also chat a little bit through elon musk's views on the matter obviously he has strong views on electric and hydrogen in the future in general and his are a little bit controversial when it comes to hydrogen power in our EVTOL segment we'll talk a little bit more about elon musk we'll talk about archer ehang jetson one uh which their sort of hobbyist uh aircraft have pretty much sold out by this point and a little uh story about apple car engineers and how they're starting to flee the nearly three trillion dollar company so alan let's start with this pilot shortage i struggle to understand these things a little bit obviously there's shortages of workers everywhere but the world hasn't i mean the world has changed but where did all the people go alan why do we have such a pilot shortage it seems like you know two years ago life was relatively normal obviously covid was a big deal and still is but how could we be desperate that many pilots at this point it doesn't seem to add up to me well when the when covet hit there was a lot of furloughs and pilots got laid off and in that interim because it was long enough it's been a year and a half two years going on two years now that pilots are educated people they can they can find jobs in other industries and they did and now that uh some of them are being recalled back they they don't want to go back in particular maybe they found a better paying job i mean they found a job with better better hours or less stress or a variety of variables there and i there if you look at the tsa numbers we're at about 85 90 of 2019 levels so the the flights at least the flights in the united states are pretty close to where we were and that means there's a lot of airplanes flying internally into the united states overseas not so much still and those tend to be kind of the smaller airplanes the 737s airbus a320s 319s uh the 737 maxes are going to be big in that space and so the most senior people don't tend to fly those airplanes it tends to be the the the towards the youngers younger ages that are flying those airplanes and i think they have other opportunities and and now that uh the the airlines are looking to expand and we have all the evital pilots uber flight kind of pilots that are going to be needed there's going to be a big demand on pilots and i i don't know if we have the infrastructure to support it because 50 years ago most pilots came out of the military i think now it's not nearly that many come out of the maritime like they're coming out of places like embry riddle and in schools like that or flight schools and they're just earning their wings over time by flying freight and cargo and all those different kind of airline airplane flights so you're just getting a different different graphic coming into the marketplace uh and the requirements for hours have gone up the fa jumped the number of hours required so he c...

Many of the biggest names in the electric vehicles industry are vying for a spot among the flight pioneers who have been looking to transform the mass transport industry with all-electric flying cars – but a Swedish company has had a different goal in mind. It had looked forward to seeing people everywhere having a personal vehicle for luxury travel. Continue reading on Procommun.com
Swedish startup Jetson Aero is joining the personal aircraft game. Its electric VTOL is called Jetson One and the users can assemble it themselves. It is also classified as an ultralight, which means owners do not need a pilot license to fly it. This creation allows Jetson to act on its goal from its website which reads, “We intend to make everyone a pilot.” If it comforts those uneasy about unlicensed citizens flying around, Jetson also says on its site that “Safety is our number one priority.”Since it falls under the category of an ultralight, performance and capacities are limited. Jalopnik reports these limitations mean it must weigh less than 254 pounds, fuel capacity cannot exceed five gallons and it can only travel at a maximum speed of 55 knots, or 63 miles per hour. Last, but not least, it can only carry one occupant. The One features four large rotors which sit inches from an open cockpit. It also possesses an all-aluminum space airframe, weighs 190 pounds and cannot be flown by a pilot who weighs more than 210 pounds. Flight controls are a 3 axis joystick and throttle lever. Flight time is 20

From buses to taxis to ambulances, the number and type of vehicles set to take to the skies in the allegedly near future keeps growing. Now another one is joining their ranks, and it seems to defy classification—it's not a flying car, nor a drone; the closest to an accurate description may be a flying all-terrain vehicle, or the designation its creators have given it, which is a “personal electric aerial vehicle.” And it shares its name with a widely-beloved futuristic cartoon family: the Jetsons. All sorts of technology that used to exist only in cartoon form has made its way into being since the show launched in 1962, from jet packs to 3D printed food to smartwatches. Swedish startup Jetson Aero's tiny electric aircraft, the Jetson One, is sort of like George Jetson's “car”—except there's only space for one person, there's not a closed cabin, and you can't press a button to be dropped out the bottom. You can, however, press a button to activate a ballistic parachute, but Jetson Aero is really hoping none of its customers will ever have to use this feature. The parachute is a last-resort option, built into the Jetson One along with several other redundancies for passenger safety. The vehicle runs on battery power, with eight electric motors, and is like a helicopter in that it takes off and lands vertically (though the fact that it has eight propellers makes it a “multicopter”). The fastest it goes is 63 miles per hour (102 kilometers per hour), so about the same as highway driving in or near an urban area. At 9.3 feet long by 8 feet tall by 3.4 feet wide, the Jetson One is quite small, at least as far as aircraft go, and weighs 198 pounds (90 kilograms). It can carry a passenger that weighs up to 210 pounds, though the lighter you are, the longer you can fly for; a pilot weighing 187 pounds can fly for 20 minutes before the vehicle's batteries need recharging. In the US the aircraft is classified as “ultralight,” meaning you don't need a pilot's license to fly it. Given its compact footprint, the vehicle could take off right from owners' driveways; the company encourages potential customers to “make your garden or terrace your private airport.” It certainly would be nice to be able to fly without the hassle of first traveling to an airport, nor the expense of the associated storage and usage fees (though if you're buying one of these little winged toys, those expenses probably won't concern you too much; the Jetson One goes for $92,000, which actually isn't outrageous given that it's basically a personal mini plane). The downside of making your garden your personal airport, though, is that if you lose control of the vehicle or have a shaky takeoff or landing, you could go crashing right through your home's roof or wall. In the spirit of its widely-known compatriot company, Ikea, Jetson Aero delivers its aircraft to customers as a partially-assembled kit, accompanied by “detailed build instructions.” It's a long shot from shelving unit to personal eVTOL, though, and letting customers assemble the vehicle themselves seems an odd choice given the risks associated with getting even one piece wrong. Customers don't seem worried, though. The company has already sold its entire 2022 production run (which, to be fair, was only 12 units) and is now taking orders for delivery in 2023.
