JB and Billy pay tribute to Robert Walls - who passed away today. Topics Brayshaw has someone in his sights for turning into a knob, and Matthew Campbell calls in to talk about the late Robert Walls - including one hilarious story about Mark Zanotti. Billy has a mammoth Idiot File, and Campbell Brown is in studio to talk about Hawthorn, his Dad Mal, and getting arrested in Surfers Paradise. There's only a week left until Election Day! So we're digging into all the latest election news and gossip as millions and millions of dollars are flooding the local airwaves with campaign ads. First, political insiders are saying that that the polls on Proposition 131 (aka, open primaries and ranked choice voting) are tightening, despite all the backers' endorsements and fundraising. Then, was Mayor Mike Johnston “factually incorrect” when we asked him about the sales tax hike he put in front of Denver voters to fund affordable housing? Host Bree Davies and producer Paul Karolyi are talking politics, checking some facts, and fielding some listener questions and hot takes on the local races. Sen. Michael Bennet laid out his case against open primaries and ranked choice voting. For more, Paul interviewed Kent Thiry and Amber McReynolds to better understand their case for the proposed reforms, as well as State Rep. Emily Sirota about why she's so firmly against them. How are you planning to vote on Prop 131? We want to hear from you! Text or leave us a voicemail with your name and neighborhood, and you might hear it on the show: 720-500-5418 Don't miss our interview with Mayor Mike Johnston from last week! In addition to discussing his sales tax hike proposal in detail, he also talked to us about restaurants and the tipped minimum wage conundrum, cracking down on traffic violations, and his excitement for KroenkeTown. Maybe nothing, but it's odd that their bodies were reportedly posed like a piece of junk sculpture that the Shermans displayed nearby. But this strange coincidence is just one of many in this most baffling of unsolved murder cases in Canadian history. Host Kathleen Goldhar goes on a byzantine journey to find out what kind of life do you have to live that your death spurns on multiple theories about who might have killed you, including some involving your closest family. Matthew Campbell (@MattCampbell) is an award-winning reporter and editor for Bloomberg Businessweek magazine and the co-author, with Kit Chellel, of Dead in the Water: A True Story of Hijacking, Murder, and a Global Maritime Conspiracy. What We Discuss with Matthew Campbell: The International Chamber of Shipping estimates about 90 percent of world trade is carried by the international shipping industry to the tune of around $14 trillion (about 2/3rds of the US GDP) per year. Piracy persists in places along these lucrative shipping lines because people who have nothing to lose are willing to risk their lives for potentially big payouts. Why insurance surveyor David Mockett didn't quite buy the story that Somali pirates had attacked oil tanker Brillante Virtuoso when he investigated the site — and how it led to his murder. Insurance fraud is one of the world's oldest rackets, with instances documented as far back as ancient Greece. Why rogue ship owners will fly "flags of convenience" — flags of countries with fewer regulations than the ones from which their ships are actually owned. And much more...
