This blogcast explores “St. Anthony, Pray for Us” written and read by Krissy Pierno. In this blog post, Krissy shares some of the history of St. Anthony, how he became the patron of lost things and how to incorporate devotion to him in everyday life. St. Anthony of Padua has been characterized as a humble and positive man, a man of incredible penance and zeal, full of courage to preach, and considered a “man of the people.” His preaching was regarded so highly that he was made a Doctor of the Church in 1946 by Pope Pius XII. The Church particularly urges us to imitate Anthony's “love of the word of God and his prayerful efforts to understand and apply it to the situations of everyday life”, found here. In some ways, his ability to meet his fellow apostles in their own faith journeys reminds me of St. Vincent Pallotti, a priest who was another humble saint who preached and served in the many streets of Rome. Pallotti's life was dedicated to accompanying the faithful and helping them live out the Gospel in their everyday lives. He once said, “What God demands of you is love, gratitude, and cooperation,” and I think St. Anthony would agree with him on that.In this new year, let us put on the life of Christ as St. Anthony did. Let us share the Gospel with others simply by being a witness to the love we feel in Christ. Our message and our actions can feel lost in the hustle and bustle. We can lose ourselves in the busyness and in the daily tasks, but in 2023, let's really take notice of what's missing in our lives and pray that St. Anthony's intercession can help us find anything we've lost. In this episode of On Mission, Sarah Harrigan Scalfaro, Chris Pierno, and Fr. Frank Donio, S.A.C. discuss the Pallottine Fathers and Brothers, the Society of the Catholic Apostolate, founded St. Vincent Pallotti.Founded by St. Vincent Pallotti, the Pallottine Fathers and Brothers seek to revive faith and rekindle charity in the hearts of all members of the faithful. Pallottines minister wherever the Church is in need and can be found in parishes, schools, universities, missions, and other Catholic organizations. The Pallottines of the Immaculate Conception Province are located throughout the eastern United States and Peru. Inspired by Saint Vincent Pallotti's motto, taken from St. Paul, "The charity of Christ urges us on," the Society of the Catholic Apostolate (the Pallottines) works throughout the world to further the Catholic Church's mission to renew faith and rekindle charity. As part of the Union of Catholic Apostolate, the Society of the Catholic Apostolate is a group of priests and brothers known as the Pallottines. Pallottine priests and brothers are a group of men who share a life of community, prayer, and apostolic work. They follow the charism and spirituality of their founder, St. Vincent Pallotti, who wanted to reawaken faith and love among Catholics and share the Gospel of Christ with all. Pallottines work to instill in others a deep conviction of their personal call to live as apostles of Jesus Christ. To remain faithful to St. Vincent Pallotti's call to "revive faith and rekindle charity," Pallottine priests and brothers promise the Society chastity, poverty, obedience, perseverance, the sharing of resources, and spirit of service. These promises are a sign of the desire to live in a community devoted to service to the people of God. St. Vincent Pallotti saw ministry as having two purposes: to love God and to shower God's love on others. In this episode of On Mission, Sarah Harrigan Scalfaro, Chris Pierno, Jonathan Sitko, and Fr. Frank Donio, S.A.C. discuss the history of the Union of Catholic Apostolate, founded by St. Vincent Pallotti.St. Vincent Pallotti's foundation had a very remarkable history. Having all people united as apostles of Christ was the dream of St. Vincent Pallotti and from the beginning this group took on a new form of an “Association” and immediately in 1835 it received the approval of the competent ecclesiastical authority. It is a community, which unites priests, religious, lay people and takes the name “Catholic Apostolate”. This community started many new initiatives answering to the many needs of the Church (Foreign Missions, Local Missions, Retreat Work) and in the city of Rome (evening schools, a soup kitchen, orphanage – Pia Casa di Carità, etc.). But the new ideas soon met with suspicion, many people could not understand his ideas and Vincent Pallotti had to defend his vision and his foundation again and again. After his death the name of his foundation of priests and brothers was changed into “Pious Mission Society” and there remained only this community and one of sisters. But the members of these communities never forgot that the idea of Pallotti was more than their present realization. Now, in the new millennium, St. Vincent Pallotti's idea has become a living reality again. On October 28, 2003, the Union of the Catholic Apostolate received the official approval and blessing of the universal Church from the Pontifical Council of the Laity. This happened only after much study of St. Vincent's charism and reformulation of their individual guidelines by the various Pallottine groups that have continued to hold St. Vincent as their founder. Hence, the reason for the name -- Union of Catholic Apostolate. And the Union is simply -- men and women, lay, religious and priests -- working together for the glory of God and working to spread the name of Jesus while fostering His love among all peoples. In this segment from the Son Rise Morning Show on Sacred Heart Radio, Fr. Frank Donio, S.A.C. discusses the joy of Easter and the peace we receive from Jesus Christ.Joy“Holy joy and spiritual cheerfulness are distinctive characteristics of true servants of the Lord.” ~ St. Vincent PallottiListen to the previous installments on Solitude, Sacrifice, Selflessness, Solitude, Self-Denial, Suffering, and SurrenderLent is a special time to fast, increase prayer, and increase our almsgiving. Lent is a 40 day season of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving that begins on Ash Wednesday and ends at sundown on Holy Thursday. It's a period of preparation to celebrate the Lord's Resurrection at Easter. The Easter Vigil is the "Mother of All Vigils" and Easter Sunday is the greatest of all Sundays. The season of Easter is the most important of all liturgical times, which Catholics celebrate as the Lord's resurrection from the dead, culminating in his Ascension to the Father and sending of the Holy Spirit upon the Church. The octave of Easter comprises the eight days which stretch from the first to the second Sunday. It is a way of prolonging the joy of the initial day. There are 50 days of Easter from the first Sunday to Pentecost. It is characterized, above all, by the joy of glorified life and the victory over death expressed most fully in the great resounding cry of the Christian: Alleluia! All faith flows from faith in the resurrection: "If Christ has not been raised, then empty is our preaching; empty, too, is your faith." In this segment from the Son Rise Morning Show on Sacred Heart Radio, Fr. Frank Donio, S.A.C. discusses themes of Advent from St. Vincent Pallotti, specifically true joy from the Lord."Holy cheerfulness is a precious fruit of the gifts of the Holy Spirit and is thus the mark of a true servant of the Lord. So, in face, in looks, in reciprocal remarks and in a special way towards strangers, all must radiate holy cheerfulness and joy. It must be remembered that, if this characteristic is lacking, they will lead few people to God because they will not encourage many to feel enthusiastic about following Our Lord Jesus Christ. On the other hand, their example of cheerfulness and joy will help people to understand that the following of Our Lord Jesus Christ is the basis of a life of true happiness." ~ St. Vincent PallottiView Advent resources provided by the Catholic Apostolate Center. VERNANTE PALLOTTI – BANSHEE. GLI AMORI IMPOSSIBILI NON MUOIONO MAI – presentato da IRA RUBINI
The Atterbury group and Truworths have inked a deal for the creation of a new distribution centre in Cape Town. The clothing retailer's new facility will be built in King Air Industria, which is an Atterbury Property and Old Mutual Properties development. Truworths will lease the new building, which will consolidate all of its various Cape Town facilities under one roof. The development's 53 000 m2 initial phase consists of a 3 000 m2 office and 50 000 m2 warehouse, and includes the option to expand to 70 000 m2. Designed to target an internationally recognised EDGE sustainability certification, the development will break ground this month, with the building scheduled for completion in September, next year. “As a result of business growth we have spent some time looking to build a larger, state-of-the-art distribution centre to accommodate our future requirements,” says Truworths CFO Emanuel Cristaudo. “This positions us well for the future and we are looking forward to the completion of this project.” The value of the development is not disclosed. Atterbury's King Air Industria development manager Arno du Plessis adds that the development roll-out of King Air Industria is making “excellent progress and attracting a high calibre of businesses that want to be near the airport, but also seek quality, efficient premises that support both their business and sustainability goals”. King Air Industria is located between Airport Approach, Borcherds Quarry, Robert Sobukwe and Pallotti roads, and connected to the city and inland region with access to the N2 and R300 freeways. The 72 ha development is already home to The Courier Guy, operating in a 10 112 m2 facility, and Morgan Cargo, operating in a 7 500 m2 provincial head office building that includes a specialised cold storage facility. “We are enjoying great leasing momentum in the Western Cape, not only at King Air Industria, but also at other properties, including Richmond Park, where the demand-driven development roll-out is proceeding at an exciting pace,” says Atterbury leasing manager Mia Kitshoff. Atterbury has signed a deal with online retailer Takealot for a 20 400 m2 second phase of its Richmond Park distribution facility, which will take the total size to 44 000 m2 when it is completed in June next year. The property group has also signed hardware retailer Brights for a 6 000 m2 facility, which will be completed in November next year.
