Yesterday, we discussed the importance of reshaping your identity. Today, let's focus on your time. Rethinking Time Management Time management isn't just about scheduling. It's about your perception of time. Robert Stuberg, a mentor of mine, emphasized the importance of viewing time differently. Understanding this allows you to leverage your time effectively, expand your productivity, and get a better return on your time investment. Attention: Your Greatest Asset The most important aspect of time is your attention. Gary Vaynerchuk and many others highlight that attention is crucial. What you focus on, grows. Are you focusing on scarcity or abundance? Are your activities strategically leveraging your time or simply making you feel busy? Examine your calendar and ask yourself: Are you focusing on tasks that will 10X your life or merely 2X it? Are you engaging in innovative, growth-oriented activities, or repeating the same mundane tasks? Quality of Focus In addition to attention, the quality of your focus is paramount. Do not just manage your schedule, focus on the depth of your attention. Are you dabbling in opportunities or going deep? Quality focus helps identify and maximize opportunities. Measuring Return on Time Finally, measure the return on your time. It's not just about working hard but achieving significant results. Evaluate the tasks you are spending your time on and ensure they align with your aspirations. If you aim to be a high-earner, focus on high-value tasks. This week, reflect on your identity and time. Instead, it's about making radical changes in three core areas: identity, time, and leadership. This shift is essential to breaking through your current limitations and achieving extraordinary success. The Daily Mastermind Quote of the Day A powerful quote to inspire you comes from Napoleon Hill: "What the mind of man can conceive and believe, it can achieve." This quote encapsulates the essence of the 10X mindset—believing in and working towards a greater vision of yourself. You've got to believe that you can achieve big things, regardless of your current circumstances.   Identity: Your Story and Your Standards Your story is the narrative you've constructed based on your past experiences, present decisions, and future aspirations. It's crucial to become aware of how this narrative influences your life. Your Story Every one of us has a story, a narrative formed by past experiences. Successful individuals learn to view their story not just from a past perspective but also from a future-oriented view. They visualize their future selves and make decisions based on that vision, rather than being restricted by past failures or current limitations. Your Standards Your standards are the benchmarks you hold yourself to, shaping your identity. The higher your standards, the closer you align with your future 10X self. It's essential to continuously raise the floor of your standards—what you're currently willing to accept and strive for—to achieve higher goals and greater self-confidence.   Drilling Down: Applying the 10X Mindset to Identity, Time, and Leadership Identity To adopt a 10X mindset, you must change your self-perception. And what that means, if we were to unpack it, is that if you found yourself in this position, it would sound all too familiar to you. You look back on your day; you were busy and did a lot of stuff. Most of what you did was probably internal and not enough external, meaning that you were on, especially today; we're recording this on a Monday. So, a lot of sales leaders today will spend their entire Monday in meetings that will probably not create one single customer, and they will probably not be involved in any training or development of the sales team. And it's certainly not going to be involved in the overarching strategy of the business. It's probably going to be meetings that involve updates around product or operations, updates that have already happened and that you cannot control and ultimately won't matter in creating a customer, training a rep, or the overarching strategy of the business. And that's the biggest problem: many sales leaders don't have enough autonomy in their schedule. And if they do have autonomy, they're still not spending it on the three areas of the business that matter most: customers, reps, strategy." – NIGEL"I ask a lot of really good questions. So, it gets to where I'd never really have to ask anyone for an investment or to hire me because they see through the power of my questions that their life might be better if they had me as an extension of their team. So, that translates, I think, naturally to the types of things that I work on in my coaching business, which is primarily what I do as coach sales leaders. I help them improve the quality of their questions. And as they start asking better questions, they start having better problems. Better problems lead to better results. So, we get to this place where we don't have an activity problem, or we don't have a "we're not hitting our sales" problem. We start having deeper problems around strategy, positioning, technology, compensation plans, team structure, data, and augmenting sales reps with better support systems—not just hiring more people but hiring various sellers for different types of roles in the sales organization. And we start having better problems." - NIGEL"If you want to transform your sales team, you've got to understand that your sales team is only as good as your worst rep, and your worst rep is probably the one that gives you an insight into your sales leader's tolerance threshold. And so be pushing yourselves later to always try to replace your worst rep with a new one. And sometimes replacing your worst rep with a new rep is taking that individual and making them better, making them fundamentally. Be audacious, be brave, and choose to be different every day.Stand out by doing things others aren't doing."And so, I came up with this hiring for Goosebumps approach, which went as follows. First, I, as President of the company, was involved in panel interviews with most of the people we were hiring. And I did that for a specific reason. First, I wanted to show the people in my organization who sat around me what to do, and hopefully, hopefully, that they would copy what I did. Secondly, it shows the person applying for a job that they are important. So, I asked them two fundamental questions. I go, "Nancy, what I'd like to know is, do you love human beings?" Now, you would typically go, "Wow, okay, I've never had that question before. I think I know the right answer, but I have no idea where this dude is going with it." And you would say, "Well, yes, I do, Roy. I love human beings." I'd say, "Okay." So, the second question would be, "Tell me a story. Tell me a story that proves to me that you love humans." Now, this is the killer question, okay, because it separated the wheat from the chaff. The people that treated this as an academic exercise would give me a story that left me cold. Okay. There wasn't any truth to it. It was all mumbo jumbo, superficial, narcissistic chatter from this individual, right? But the person that had the gene told me a story that was so rich and passionate in terms of how they related to people and their feelings for people. Guess what it did, Nancy. It left me with goosebumps, and I got him right now. I would hire that person and teach him the business. People thought I was crazy. To this day, I can have; a while ago, I had a podcast with a PhD in HR in New York, and I told her this story, and she just went apoplectic. In fact, we had to stop the interview. She couldn't take it." – ROY"I want you to be different. I want you to go out, be brave, be audacious, and choose to be different today, right now, in the moment, in some small way. I want you to be uncomfortable. I want you to treat discomfort as your strategic ally. I want you to do it. And tomorrow, I want you to do two things and be different. And the next day, I want you to do three things. I want you to sort of get this persona strand going for you because we need you to be different. Okay, we don't need you to conform. We don't need you to comply with the rules. Now, I'm not talking about being illegal. I'm saying step out, be creative, be innovative, and do things other people aren't doing. That's the source of joy. That's the source of economic opportunity. And we need you in business and organizations to be that way. And you salespeople, if you're not the only one that does what you do, Why do you have a job?" - ROY"Step outside of your comfort zone, but do things differently than everybody else does. Okay, I don't want you to be uncomfortable and continue to do the same thing as everybody else. I want you to be uncomfortable because you're doing things differently, right? In a way that people care about. And the only point I want to make here is that this is not about you doing things for yourself. This is about you doing things differently in a way other people care about. So, my whole "be different" philosophy, Nancy, is about serving others in a way that no one else does. And salespeople, I want you to do that. I want you to serve your clients like no one else does. And I don't care about the textbook. Okay, the textbook got you this far. I want you to put it down. I want you to put the textbook down and do some practical human things that are different than everybody else, including the textbook, that light fires in your client's eyes. And guess what it does to them? It wants them to buy from you because they believe in you, trust you, follow you, and be loyal to the company. Boom. And there goes the revenue lineup. And people need to have their profiles be professional. In other words, would you show up as an amateur or a professional? And it's your choice. The second is to understand that it's about relationships on LinkedIn. It's not a quick sale. LinkedIn is not a transactional platform. It's a relationship platform. So, develop that mentality in your writing and in the videos that you do. And the third is to expand and grow your network. You can never have a large enough network on LinkedIn. And there are ways to do that. The fourth, I'm trying to remember, I'm just having a brain cramp this morning, but the fifth is to stay current, which is what I offer all my members, the ability to stay current through twice-a-month master classes that I hold where I share with them all this current stuff that I've learned. And my objective, Nancy, my objective is not to be the smartest guy in the room. I just hang out with them." – JON"Well, the easiest way is to find people on LinkedIn that you want to follow, that you think, well, that person, I might, number one, have the opportunity to do business with them. Secondly, they might be a great referral source for me. So, it all starts first with following them. And I remember from the "Five Love Languages" book that came out many years ago, it's hard to withdraw before you make deposits. So, you make a deposit by following them and commenting on their content. A certain number of them will follow you back and comment on your comments. That's the way it starts. It's a process." - JON"There's no limit to the number of posts you can do. I personally recommend three a week. Some people post every day, and that's fine. If you can do it, that's great. I personally don't have the time to do it every day, but certainly no more than once a day. You just have to be real. Show your audience that you “get” them by catering to their cares, frustrations, and the reality of their day-to-day lives.But to do this, you really have to know your audience and their lived experience. Just like how Jeff Kinney wrote a runaway hit inspired by his lived experience as a boy. The key is that though the main character, Greg, wasn't a hero, he was believable…and maybe a bit wimpy at times.That's right, we're talking about Diary of a Wimpy Kid today with Founder of Furmanov Marketing Consulting, Anna Furmanov. Literally just turn your next blog post or ad into a comic. The style says anything BUT boring B2B marketing. Anna says, “This could really flip blog posts on their heads, right? Or case studies. If we would mimic something like Diary of a Wimpy Kid, and how they lay things out with words and pictures to tell a story, that's essentially what Diary of a Wimpy Kid is. You could mimic that and create something that looks so different from a typical blog post or case study or any long form content. Because that's the beauty of marketing, right? It's about trying out new ideas and seeing what sticks.”Entertain, then educate. Prioritize sharing content tailored to your audience's interests, attitudes, and values. It shows that you “get” them. And your audience is more likely to re-share it.  Anna says, “A lot of content strategies are focused on educating and not as many are focused on entertaining. Kids want to get entertained. Adults want to get entertained, too. So don't forget about the entertaining side when you think about the purpose of your content. Like the absurdity of sales, the absurdity of marketing, the absurdity of your target buyer's workday experience. That could be entertaining, too. It could be funny. It hooks you in. It keeps you coming back.”Write like your audience talks. Use “wanna” and “gonna” instead of “want to” and “going to.” Show that there's a human behind the content by writing like you talk. At least in the formats that allow for a casual tone, like on LinkedIn or on your blog. Anna says, “You're not here to just be fake. You're here to be real. Creating a space for other people to be real with you. Which creates connection, which creates likability. So I use “wanna,” and “gonna,” and I think people connect to me much easier because of that. They like the posts I put out on LinkedIn, and I use those words when I post on LinkedIn. Sometimes I use it in my monthly newsletter. I never use that in my client contracts because I think that's going too far. But in my content, I'm going to use words like “wanna,” and “gonna,” because I think there's a place and a space to do that, and I pick that as my vibe. And Ian adds, “the message is not necessarily that you should use conversational language all the time. It's that you should use the conversational language of who you're selling to.”Quotes*”I've seen a lot of case studies that just look the same. They're boring. How can you weave more emotion into case studies? I know it's possible. Because one of the questions I like to ask in my Voice of Customer research work is, ‘How has this tool, platform, whatever, changed your life?' And that's a big deal. That's emotional. When you hear the answers, maybe it's something that you can blow up a little bit more, make people laugh, make people cry. Overall, how can you make people feel more connected over the emotional stuff?” - Anna Furmanov*”What is your personality? What's your vibe? A security startup might not want to use “wanna” or “gonna”. That's fine, but at least figure it out so that you have a direction and a roadmap for what you want your content to look like, sound like, feel like, because it's a package. You put it together, and the way that you show up online is a package of who you are and whether people will want to connect with that or not.” - Anna Furmanov*”When you live with children, you're in those moments and I think it's easier to write about. But tying back to B2B though, you don't live with your target buyer, right? But somehow you have to mimic that knowledge of what they're feeling, what they're frustrated about. So that's why it's so important to check in with them and to have these Voice of Customer research conversations. I can't emphasize enough how important it is to do that. You can't write a book about something from that perspective if you're not in it. You can't write content if you're not in some way in it, right? And super in the community, talking to people, understanding their goals and challenges and emotions and frustrations and what they're worried about and what they're excited about. You just can't. So since you don't live with them, you have to kind of artificially create that.” - Anna Furmanov*”Start with the foundational stuff like voice of customer research. Having these conversations with five to ten of your customers or prospects, understanding them, understanding how they relate to you, why they picked you, what's your differentiated value, all that is really important. When you put someone very comfortably and safely out of their comfort zone. For example, I own a small yacht and take my clients sailing. It's not about the sailing. It's about being out on the water, making fast decisions, being aware of the situation, being in a small space with other people, and learning how to communicate with them clearly and impactfully set a strategy, for example, going back to the sailing. Depending on which way the wind blows, it may take you a longer time to get to your destination or a longer time to get back. And it would help if you kept that in mind when planning. Where are you going? Do you have enough time to get there? Do you have enough time to get back? What if changes or the current? What if there's other shipping traffic all around you? On my boat, which is fantastic, I have two helms and two wheels to drive the boat side by side. So, I like to put clients on one side. It's perfectly safe because a qualified captain is holding the other wheel or is standing by at the other wheel. But you put someone who wants to be a leader on a boat with six other people and tell them, hey, you've never driven a boat before; six other people's lives depend on you, drive. Yes, exactly. It's a very safe and controlled environment. Abundance is a Mindset You Must Learn to Create Abundance is something we hear a lot about these days.  However, it is much easier said than done.  How many times do you feel you are being positive, but life just doesn't seem to go your way.  Well, over time I have realized there is a difference between positivity and abundant thinking.  I think it is super important in business and in life to recognize what it really takes to become an abundant thinker.  Otherwise, we are living in an perpetual state of grind and working toward a future that never arrives… Abundant thinking really boils down to living in constant state of creativity and vision with your focus on the future “greatness” we are all capable of attaining.  When you can live focusing your attention on the future greatness you actually already ARE RIGHT NOW…you will attract the things that you need to continually evolve into that very state.  When you focus on the current limiting circumstances and state you are in, it is difficult to truly benefit from the law of attraction or the universal laws that can help you create the success, health, wealth, and happiness you deserve. To truly become abundant, it requires you to RAISE YOUR VIBRATIONAL FEQUENCY you operate in day to day…I know that sounds a bit out there, but let's talk more about this today.  I hope you enjoy this podcast episode.
