In the landmark 50th episode of Hockey Te Charcha, we spoke with Indian Junior Women's Hockey Team defender Preeti, who will be Captaining Team India in the upcoming FIH Hockey Women's Junior World Cup 2023, which will be held in Santiago, Chile from November 29th to December 10th, 2023. Preeti, who also led India to the Women's Junior Asia Cup gold medal earlier this year, spoke about the team's preparations for the tournament. The tournament will feature 16 teams divided into four pools. India are in Pool C, alongside Germany, Belgium, and Canada. Pool A includes the defending Champions the Netherlands, South Africa, Australia, and Chile, while Pool B includes Argentina, Korea, Spain, and Zimbabwe. Pool D includes England, the United States, New Zealand, and Japan. Despite the tough competition, Preeti is confident that India will be able to secure a medal in the tournament. Tune in to hear...
The season of regional rankings, mock brackets and things such as Pool C teams is upon us, and how better to get things started than by having a conversation with the chair of the Division III football championship committee? We start every year with burning questions, and Northwestern (Minn.) head coach Matt Moore was kind enough to sit down and chat with Pat Coleman on campus earlier this week and give the most honest and open answers possible, considering not a single ranking has been made. But when you wonder, what does "results against regionally ranked opponents" mean, and how is it used, well, the answer wasn't what we expected or what we had been told was reality by chairs in years and sports past. This edition of the podcast is sponsored by d3photography.com, the licensed photography bureau contracted by D3sports.com. If you want to hear the answer to what happens when a team plays zero non-conference games, you'll get the best answer we can get so far this season here in this podcast. If you want to know whether the national committee would change a regional ranking if it doesn't line up or make sense with the others, you'll hear that answer as well. And if you want to know how important strength of schedule is, you can get no answer more clear than Moore's answer. Pat Coleman and Matt Moore talk, and Pat and Greg Thomas discuss, in this edition of the podcast. The D3football.com podcast is a weekly in-season podcast by Pat Coleman and Greg Thomas, which was started in 2007. It's a Sportshour special with Caroline Barker at the Netball World Cup in Cape Town. It's the first time the tournament has been held in Africa and we'll hear from former Proteas players Zanele Mdodana and Vanes-Mari du Toit about the impact of hosting the event for South Africa. We'll also hear from Uganda's Peace Proscovia about how the game lifted her and her family out of poverty. It must be very special to represent your country. Doubly so if you can do it alongside your sister! Well, that's what Sasha and Kadeen Corbin did when they played for England, but as their career come towards a close, they are back - but not for England - this time they are proudly representing Barbados . On the side-line, we speak to arguably the best coach in the business, the defending champions New Zealand's Dame Noelene Taurua. We hear from a player who says climate change ended her career. Former Australian international Amy Steel says environmental change had a drastic, life changing effect on her health. Amy is part of the EcoAthletes collective, who focus on raising awareness of environmental issues. www.ecoathletes.orgWe'll also hear from England star Geva Mentor on the only trophy missing in her cabinet - a World Cup. This is a record equalling sixth World Cup appearance for Geva.Photo: Karla Pretorius (Vice Captain) of South Africa and Phillipa Yarranton of Wales during the Netball World Cup 2023, Pool C match between South Africa and Wales at Cape Town International Convention Centre Court 1 on July 28, 2023 in Cape Town, South Africa. South Africa's national rugby and netball teams had a good day at the office yesterday recording wins in the Rugby Championship and the Netball World Cup. The Springboks managed to grind out victory edging Argentina 22-21 in their final Rugby Championship fixture at Ellis Park Stadium in JHB. The trophy had however already been won by New Zealand earlier following a 38-7 victory over Australia, in Melbourne. And at the Netball World Cup, the Proteas romped to a commanding win over Sri Lanka. The Proteas made it two-in-two with a win in their Pool C encounter at the Cape Town International Convention Centre. Another sold-out crowd cheered the hosts on as South Africa secured a convincing 87-32 triumph to remain unbeaten so far in their World Cup campaign. The Proteas will face Jamaica TODAY. We spoke to Netball analyst, Sandisiwe Guzana ..
Brice Clark returns with Carl and they lead off the show breaking down Pool C. They are then joined by Austin Bechtold from Baldwin Wiffleball, Trey Flood from Bay City Wiffle Ball, Patrick Baalman from the NWA and Zeke Daure from South Hills Wiffle Ball. The four managers go through their different league formats, give their tournament rosters and answer a couple questions from the hosts. Make sure to introduce yourselves to the new guys this weekend!
Welcome to Episode 121 of The Podcast About Division III Baseball. The third and final public regional rankings were released, giving us one final look at how the committee views the best teams in each region. Some regions deserve far more conversation than others, but we touch on all the teams we deem at-large relevant during our bubble talk at the end. In order: Region I - New England (at 1:20) Region II - New England (at 1:50) Region III - New York (at 2:25) Region IV - Mid-Atlantic (at 3:25) Region V - Mid-Atlantic (at 4:50) Region VI - South (at 6:00) Region VII - Mideast (at 12:00) Region VIII - Central (at 13:40) Region IX - Midwest (at 15:35) Region X - West (at 18:15) Finally and most importantly (at 25:15), we go through and present where we believe the bubble currently stands if we assume all the favorites win their conference tournaments and which teams are in best position to claim the 2 Pool B and 17 Pool C at-large bids. Welcome to Episode 120 of The Podcast About Division III Baseball. The second regional rankings were released and this time they are actually in a real order instead of alphabetical! We provide some caveats about how we go about this exercise projecting the at-large picture at this stage before discussing all 10 regions and the teams ranked within. In order: Region I - New England (at 1:50) Region II - New England (at 3:40) Region III - New York (at 5:30) Region IV - Mid-Atlantic (at 8:30) Region V - Mid-Atlantic (at 11:20) Region VI - South (at 14:00) Region VII - Mideast (at 20:35) Region VIII - Central (at 22:30) Region IX - Midwest (at 24:35) Region X - West (at 28:40) At the end (32:45), we go through and present where we believe the bubble currently stands if we assume all the favorites win their conference tournaments. It's VERY early to attempt this but we did our best to paint a realistic picture of which teams are in best position to claim the 2 Pool B and 17 Pool C at-large bids. Another week of thrilling games leaves us able to practically smell the NCAA Division III football playoffs. But while `nearly half of the 27 automatic bids to the 32-team playoff field have already been claimed, the at-large playoff picture seems clear as mud. Aside from UW-La Crosse, which should be as much of a shoo-in as there can be for an at-large bid if they win next week, it's hard to make a definite case for any particular at-large candidate. Pat and Greg run through the candidates as they stand today, and will revisit them this week. This edition of the podcast is sponsored by the hosts of Stagg Bowl XLIX, and we look forward to seeing all of you in Annapolis, Maryland, for the Division III football championship game on Dec. 16. And one of those possible at-large candidates is the runner-up in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association, where co-leaders Albion and Alma, both 9-0, will square off on Saturday. We go a Fast Five with Alma coach Jason Couch -- he's the one coaching in a kilt on the photo on this page, and his Scots live by the KILT philosophy, which Coach Couch will explain. Meanwhile, Greg gives his impressions of Mount Union, now that the Purple Raiders have finally played an opponent of note. Are we worried about Mary Hardin-Baylor's recent performance. Pat does an in-person visit as Keystone gets its first-ever home win and celebrates its first Senior Day (already?) and there's dancing in the sheets, if not the streets. Plus, how bad is Pat's voice this week, anyway? In addition, Pat and Greg hand out game balls, spotlight the unexpected in Stat of the Week, make guesses about Week 11 games and more. Fan question in the mailbag from @rgyfo: What's the history on seeding for Pool C? Thinking team like UWL actually ranked higher than AQ from its conference. Pat Coleman and Greg Thomas talk about it all in the latest D3football.com Around the Nation Podcast. The D3football.com Around the Nation Podcast is a regular conversation covering the wide range of Division III football. WRP 127 - Pool C Pod In the third and final pod this week, we cover off World Cup pool C, containing England, Fiji, France and South Africa. No better person to look ahead at England's opener and the rest of the pool games than the lady who lifted the trophy in 2014, Katy Daly-McLean (MBE!). The former captain talks about this time before the opening game and the keenness to get started, where England will go with selection and also tactics. JH and Katy chat about Fiji, the relatively unknown side of the competition, what they bring and how much of a challenge they will present to England. Lynne Cantwell, South Africa's Women's High Performance Manager, joins in with her experiences of New Zealand so far, what the team have been up to, her personal excitement and just how difficult it is to be in "management" not a player! How France will fair is also talked about, the change up of the squad and how they will play in these opening pool games. #wrugby @podwomensrugby womensrugbypod@gmail.com Coming soon Hosted on Acast. Welcome to Episode 102 of The Podcast About Division III Baseball! In this episode, we do our best to project which teams will receive the 19 at-large bids (really just 18 Pool C bids since Salisbury is definitely getting the Pool B) to the 60-team tournament field. We perform a mock selection of all the teams just as the national committee will do ahead of the official selections at noon ET on Monday, May 16. This was extremely difficult but we did our best! Welcome to Episode 101 of The Podcast About Division III Baseball! Before we dive into the bracketology based on the latest regional rankings, we had to address two things. First (at 2:20), the end of Ryan McCarty's season, one of the greatest D-III seasons of all time and why it's ridiculous that people are hating on it. Next (at 6:40), we address the complete debacle that was the Centennial Conference tournament cancellation and why nobody wins whatsoever, including Swarthmore. Then (at 12:30) we move onto the fun stuff, which is a breakdown of the at-large picture as we record on Thursday afternoon with just 10 of the AQs clinched, discussing which teams are in best shape to snag one of the 18 Pool C at-large bids come selection day on May 16. Then we say goodbye. Follow us on Twitter @d3baseballpod (DMs are open if you want to reach us there) and @CespedesBBQ. Welcome to Episode 100 of The Podcast About Division III Baseball!!! 100 podcast episodes about D-III baseball!!! They said it couldn't be done!!!!!!! Jake is back and the second regional rankings were released and this time they are actual rankings and not just alphabetical! We discuss how we go about analyzing these rankings and what they can tell us about the likelihood of teams being selected at-large. We begin with a quick Pool B discussion (at 5:55) before going rapid-fire through all 10 regions (at 7:10) in order with some general thoughts on which conferences have the best chance to receive multiple bids. Then, we present THE BUBBLE as it currently stands (at 18:30), discussing which teams are in best shape to snag one of the 18 Pool C at-large bids come selection day on May 16. Then we say goodbye. Welcome to Episode 16 of The Podcast About Division III Baseball. As we record on the morning of Selection Sunday, 33 of the 40 automatic bids have been clinched. This episode features a comprehensive look at the at-large field, and how Pool B and Pool C will likely shake out based on a variety of scenarios involving the results of Sunday's games. Here's how the at-large field looks: 2 Pool B bids The 3 teams we feel clearly have the best shot at these two spots Why all three teams would have strong cases for Pool C regardless 16 Pool C bids The 10 teams we feel are the safest The 6 teams we feel are on the bubble, but we project to be in The 5 teams we feel are on bubble and have the best shot if a few things go their way on Sunday 11 other worthy bubble teams that are in the discussion but we think fall just short It's incredibly tough, but we do our best to discuss it all and cover as many scenarios as possible.
