For the last several years, Spidey and I have gotten to know each other more than ever, and he's come by dozens of times and picked up my acoustic Guitar and played in my office. We've had lots of fun and I've seen his talent on many levels, something that is hard to translate in words. Spidey alongside myself, grew up in what I call the Pioneering Age of Skateboarding, when most everything done today was created. Just a few short seasons ago, the ASU defensive line was...to put it charitably, a question mark. But under the tutelage of position coach Robert Rodriguez, it's developed into a team strength and one of the best groups in the Pac-12. And, in a win for ASU's Pro Model, defensive tackle DJ Davidson was drafted by the New York Giants. Heading into the 2022 season, Rodriguez has another deep and talented group of players, but is also dealing with some uncertainty, as star tackle Jermayne Lole is the the transfer portal. He could be back, or he may leave, but Rodriguez's track record suggests that the Sun Devil DL should again be stout and disruptive. Episode 049 Mike Folmer, Florida Skateboarding "Hall of Famer" and my friend for 40 plus years. Mike is just a great all around skateboarder from a very influential time in the history of skateboarding. He was a member of the legendary Sims Skateboards team, and 1978 to 1983 were his most prolific years with several Pro Model decks. One of the legendary few to ever get a Skateboarder Magazine Front Cover.  Anytime I've seen him skating then or since, he is still smooth, fluid and stylish as ever. Definitely one of the raddest Miller Flips around, he'd do them on anything big and small. Mike dabbled in lots of things after his skate career, and settled on Vintage Clothing. Always a bit of a vintage buff, Mike always had vintage furniture, vintage cars, and was heavily into the vintage vibe of the Rockabilly Scene... as the years progressed Mike learned the ins and outs of buying and selling vintage goods like t-shirts, jeans, skateboards, buttons, jackets, sweatshirts and lots more. How do you react when you encounter adversity that seems impossible to overcome? Cinnamon Hoobler lives her belief that you don't give up, you strive to overcome it. At the tender age of 3 years old, Cinnamon was wandering around Stark County Fair near her hometown of New Philadelphia, Ohio. There, a talent scout discovered her. They were looking for fresh new faces for their Pro Model & Talent company. Cinnamon began the process of training for runway and photo shoots. At the age of 5, she came to California. She competed at IMTA, International Models and Talent Association. She took home awards for commercial, most photogenic, and runway. But her most significant accomplishment there was securing a manager and agency. Upon returning home, her family soon uprooted and moved to Los Angeles in pursuit of her dreams. For eight years, she worked as an actress, model, and dancer. Then she hit a roadblock which made her have to answer the big questions, "Where do I go from here?" She had suffered a medical mishap that caused her to lose not only her ability to walk but to write, read, and function as a normal 13-year-old. She struggled with gaining her strength back. After months of physical therapy, and long-lasting side effects, she returned to her career in the entertainment industry. Now at the age of 25, she is a recent graduate from the New York Film Academy. She has many opportunities knocking at her door, including a full feature film based on what she went through as a child. She believes that everyone goes through something in their life. The real testament to one's character is how you cope and conquer that challenge.
