Tommy Czeschin was born into a life of mountains and lakes, so it's no surprise that he loves snowboarding and water sports-but what's shocking is that he was able to go pro in both. Not too bad for the quiet kid with talent who started ski racing and was the forerunner for the Jr Olympics before seeing snowboarding and making the switch. Within 5 years, he was traveling the world with the US Snowboard Team, standing on the top of World Cup podiums, winning X Games medals, and eventually making the 2002 Olympic Team. Red Gerard has won every slopestyle event out there: The Olympics, X Games, Dew Tour, World Cups, Grand Prix, you get the idea and Red is only 23 years old. While his life will be defined by his Olympic Gold, Red's snowboarding career isn't all about contests. He's just as comfortable taking his trick vocabulary to the backcountry and laying it down for his film segments. The beauty of Red is that while he's young, he's also kind of throwback. Growing up in North Carolina, in order to be as enthused about snowboarding as I was living in Raleigh, one resorted to VHS & DVD's to get stoked. Some of you may be very familiar with this approach and even perhaps with some of the production companies such as Standard Films and Mack Dawg Productions. Well, those were great, but it was a small crew which made up Robot Food that absolutely had me watching videos over and over and among that crew was Jussi Oksanen.Jussi was always one of a handful of my favorite riders to watch year after year - his style was fun, his creativity was clear, and I truly believe Robot Food wouldn't have been the same without him. Long story short, in combination of Instagram DM's and our mutual friend Matt, we set up a time to record, and I'm thrilled to share it with you today.Though retired from snowboarding, Jussi is still very much outdoors, though behind the camera as a commercial photographer producing images with the same sort of stoke-inducing outcomes. We chat cars, his snow career, cycling, of course watches, and I'll have you know Jussi's a real one. I hope you enjoy it. STANDARD H https://standard-h.com/ @standardh_ Jussi Oksanen @jussioksanen
While Lucas Foster is not a one-trick pony, when he landed his Alley Oop Double McTwist in the pipe, his career and his life totally changed forever. What's crazy is that Lucas grew up in Telluride, a place without a halfpipe, meaning Lucas came up learning his tricks at contests with barely any practice. Nowadays, Lucas has all the resources available to up the ante even more as he's a member of the US Snowboard Team, and at just 24, who knows what he'll add to his bag of tricks. On the podcast, we talk about his goal of being the GOAT, mentoring from Jason Cannon, contests, coaching, and more. Scotty Lago has a path to pro snowboarding that's different than almost anyone I've interviewed. Most high school dropouts don't have Olympic Medals to go along with a grip of X Games and Dew Tour hardware, but that's what Scotty Lago did. Along the way, he was part of the legendary Frends Crew, he filmed with Grenade, he filmed with Travis Rice for the biggest movies in snowboard history, and he did it all while riding for Flow Snowboards. When all was said and done, Scotty didn't retire into the sunset; he's now following his other passion of hunting, and just like in his snowboard career, he's already a sponsored hunter, and who knows how bug that world can get for Scotty. Kaitlyn Farrington grew up on a cattle ranch in Bellevue, Idaho. It wasn't always that simple though so today we dove right into the life story of the man behind Voice Of Reasons.

"The Aspenaut" ....The Blade Dive Podcast, Episode 7. We are joined by JP Martin, a passionate industry enthusiast with Mountain roots most would only dream of. JP Martin, hailing from Aspen, CO, USA, humbly claims to be a jack of all trades, master of none. Growing up in this iconic Mountain town, rich with Snow Industry history, Martin identified with being original, by "carving" out his own trail through life. With Buttermilk Resort, Aspen, CO as his playground, the mountain quickly became a home away from home and influenced the creativity that JP Martin deploys to this day. Aspen High School, at that time, was was an open campus and if Martin didn't have a class scheduled, he followed Bob Klein, an early Burton Pro rider, and Chris Carroll, an advocate who worked tirelessly to allow Snowboarding in the slopes, at resorts. JP Martin went on to become a Pro Snowboarder, but credits his upbringing with the outdoors as to how he came to see equipment operations as a treat. Furthering his skill set, he pursued opportunities at enviable, big name resorts, such as JHMR, Jackson Hole, Wyoming / Sugar Bowl Resort, Norden, CA / Squaw Valley Resort, Olympic Valley, CA and Baldface Lodge, Nelson, BC, CA. Martin even became one of a select few that have completed ‘Railroad Training' at Donner Summit, Lake Tahoe, CA... allowing him to apply Snowcat operations, in areas one would never even think to.JP Martin isn't the first person to discuss failures on The Blade Dive, but he really digs into the depth of his... speaking to his life burn-out and quite literally, the implosion of his Terrain Park operations career, in an effort to help the next generation understand that if your "Imagineering Goggles" aren't focused correctly, the industry will chew you up and spit you out.Enjoy... and if you're in the machine, go ahead and TURN THE VOLUME UP!Follow us on:https://www.instagram.com/thebladedive/https://www.facebook.com/thebladedive
