Just last night, Microsoft revealed the final form of their Project Scarlett console: Xbox Series X. But we aren't talking about that this episode, because we recorded this two days before The Game Awards! The news cycle makes fools of us all. But aside from the shape of the box and its name, we basically knew all there was to know about the next-gen system already, and even a bit about its little brother. The system that may well end up being the Xbox Series S, codename Lockhart, is still very much in the works, but where will it fit into Microsoft's ecosystem? We DID get to record the day of Sony's 3rd State of Play showcase, which had some expected announcements and a few surprises, such as Resident Evil 3 coming to a gaming platform near you sooner than you think. Toen kwam Phil Spencer, zonder dat er ook maar iets gelekt was, met de Xbox Series X. Een daverende verrassing waar weinig mensen rekening hadden gehouden. Zo verrassend zelfs, dat alle andere trailers ineens niet meer zo interessant waren. De aankondiging en trailer van Hellblade II, de eerste exclusive van de Xbox Series X, was daarna behoorlijk episch te noemen. En Jelle ziet de trailer in deze EvdWL voor het eerst. We also dive deeper into Shadowkeep for Destiny 2 talking about the dailies, the new loot and much more. Our news focuses on the controversy surrounding Blizzard's ban of the Hearthstone player for expressing his opinion on stream of what's going on in Hong Kong with the Chinese government. As a result of this action the player took, Blizzard banned him from competing and revoked his prize winnings. After much backlash from gamers, they reduced his ban and gave his money back but that didn't stop gamers from voicing their opinion towards Blizzard. We also talk about the Fortnite black hole that has the servers intentionally down. By the time this podcast drops, it may be back but we discuss what happened leading up to the eventual release of Fortnite Chapter 2 with a new map. This week we return to the high seas with Sea of Thieves as we test out their anniversary update. It's changed a lot since it first released but is it everything it needed? Also, we died by a Kraken. That was fun. We also try out Fallout 76's new mode Nuclear Winter. They're giving Battle Royale a go with 52 players dropped into West Virginia with the ability to drop nukes, avoid the fire circle and more. Our news this week covers some leftovers from E3 such as more details from Project Scarlett, Dr. Disrespect getting banned from E3, Fortnite almost getting cancelled and Microsoft being onboard with GOG Galaxy 2.0 already. It's exciting what's happening with GOG Galaxy, we can't wait to get our hands on it. In our discussion, we go over our overall impressions of the Nintendo and Square Enix conferences including a deep dive into Final Fantasy 7 and Marvel's Avengers.
