Brooklyn Nets finally ended the 9-game losing streak and Bruce Brown had a huge night. He says the locker-room vibe is great now and everybody likes everybody. After defeating the Sacramento Kings 109-85 Brooklyn Nets snapped the losing streak without KD, Kyrie, and Harden. Seth Curry and Andre Drummond were in the starting lineup on their debut night. Curry went for 23 points, 7 assists, and 5 assists whereas Drummond had 11 points and 9 rebounds. The star of the night however was Bruce Brown with 19 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists, 5 steals, and 3 blocks. In addition to that, he had 0 turnovers in the 37 minutes he clocked in last night. The rumors about James Harden pushing for a trade have been doing rounds for a long time. That must have led to tension in the locker room for the Brooklyn Nets. Kyrie Irving's reluctance to get vaccinated and KD's injury frustrated James Harden. The biggest deal of 2022 happened just hours before the deadline when the Brooklyn Nets agreed to send James Harden to the Philadelphia 76ers in exchange for Ben Simmons, a move that shakes up two major Eastern Conference contenders. The Los Angeles Lakers and Houston Rockets had trade discussions centered around swapping Russell Westbrook for John Wall, according to ESPN's Dave McMenamin, with the deal stalling after the Rockets wanted further compensation. One of the biggest criticisms of the modern NBA is that the players are too soft. Because of the change in rules over the last few years, the league has buckled down on the level of physicality that is allowed in the league. Fans have been quite vocal about this over the years. And one picture from the 70s that has gone viral has given new fans even more ammunition against the modern generation. A recent picture of former NBA champion Gerald Henderson playing with a neck brace on sent NBA fans into a frenzy. The Tweet with the picture highlighted how modern players partake in load management and used this player as an example of how much tougher and physically perseverent NBA players were in the prior era. NBA fans reacted to this picture, with most of them talking about how tough Gerald and players from his era were. One fan even brought up Calvin Murphy, a hall of fame player who wore a helmet at one point in his career because of a concussion. Some fans did point out that making players' health a priority is actually a good thing, but very few fans agreed with him. Clearly, NBA fans think that the modern generation of the NBA is not as tough as it used to be. These fans also called Devin Booker 'soft' after his incident recently with the Toronto Raptors mascot, and how he complained to the referee about how he was trying to distract him. On the other hand, we do need to acknowledge that, as tough as this move from Henderson was, it was a big risk, and could have jeopardized the rest of his career if something had gone wrong. Long before Russell Westbrook was benched down the stretch of Wednesday's 111-104 loss to the Indiana Pacers, Los Angeles Lakers coach Frank Vogel was given assurances that the organization would support him in taking a hard line while coaching the star, sources told ESPN. Over the past week and a half, Lakers management has told the coaching staff to coach Westbrook as the coaches see fit, even if that means pulling him from a game, as Vogel did for the final 3 minutes, 52 seconds of the fourth quarter against Indiana, sources told ESPN. Phoenix Suns star Devin Booker came under fire earlier this week when he complained about the Toronto Raptors mascot distracting him while taking a free throw during a game in an empty Scotiabank Arena. Booker got an official to move the mascot away from underneath the basket. The drama led to fans taking a jab at Booker for not being more like the player he looked up to – the late Kobe Bryant. Booker addressed the issue. "I'm really enjoying this, and I always have enjoyed social media," the Suns guard said of the beef with the Raptors mascot and how far it went on social media. "I check it daily, and when they're saying good things about it, I don't get too high, I don't get too low on it. The Grapevine-Colleyville Texas Independent School District board of trustees voted Monday to part ways with the principal, James Whitfield, who was suspended this year at Colleyville Heritage High School in the Fort Worth area. The school board had voted in September not to renew Whitfield's contract, NBC Dallas-Forth Worth reported. “This is beyond me,” he said in an interview Monday with NBC News. “I'm hopeful that we can use this to move forward and to progress and get some true meaningful change and for people to be OK with teaching the truth, people to be OK with embracing inclusivity and diversity, celebrating every student that walks through the doors of our schools." Whitfield will remain on paid administrative leave until August 2023. In a joint statement, Whitfield and the school district said they had “mutually agreed to resolve their disputes.” “Both the District and Dr. Whitfield each strongly believe they are in the right. However, each also agrees that the division in the community about this matter has impacted the education of the District's students,” the statement read in part. “The District and Dr. Whitfield have mutually agreed to resolve their disputes.” Parents accused Whitfield of pushing critical race theory, or CRT, which has become a flashpoint for people who say efforts to teach America's difficult history on race and to make classrooms more comfortable with diversity have become too divisive. The NAACP called on members of the NBA, WNBA, NFL, NHL and MLB to consider not signing with teams in Texas as a protest against several controversial laws passed recently in the state. In the two-page letter given first to ABC News, the NAACP took jabs at state lawmakers, calling the state "a blueprint by legislators to violate constitutional rights for all, especially for women, children and marginalized communities." The NAACP noted the state's controversial laws on abortion, voting rights and mask mandates as reasons for free agents not to sign with Texas teams. There are nine Texas teams playing the leagues mentioned by the NAACP: the NBA's Dallas Mavericks, San Antonio Spurs and Houston Rockets; the NHL's Dallas Stars; the WNBA's Dallas Wings; MLB's Texas Rangers and Houston Astros; and the NFL's Houston Texans and Dallas Cowboys. With the NHL, NFL and NBA seasons less than halfway over, the leagues won't welcome free agency until well into 2022. MLB free agency begins five days after the end of the World Series, where the Astros are currently playing. The letter comes just a few months after MLB took a stand against Georgia's voting overhaul this past baseball season when it moved the All-Star Game out of Atlanta in protest. The civil rights group is calling on athletes to "seek employment with sports teams located in states that will protect, honor and serve your families with integrity." The massive data dump includes more than 2,700 pages of UFO-related documents declassified by the CIA since the 1980s. (The U.S. government also calls them "unidentified aerial phenomena or UAP). According to The Black Vault — an online repository of UFO-related documents operated by author John Greenwald Jr. — the documents were obtained through a long string of Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests filed over the last quarter-century. Over time, so many requests piled up that the CIA created a CD-ROM full of declassified documents, known as "The UFO collection." The documents cover dozens of incidents, including the 1976 account of the government's then-Assistant Deputy Director for Science & Technology being hand-delivered a mysterious piece of intelligence on a UFO, to the description of a mysterious midnight explosion in a small Russian town. "Although the CIA claims this is their 'entire' [declassified] collection, there may be no way to entirely verify that," Greenwald wrote in a statement on The Black Vault website. "Research by The Black Vault will continue to see if there are additional documents still uncovered within the CIA's holdings." The data dump arrives months before officials from the U.S. Department of Defense and intelligence agencies are due to appear before Congress and spill their guts on everything they know about UFOs, the New York Post reported. Rob's former label mate, Mark Curry, said that he was with the rapper when he died. “Rest in peace to my brother," he said. Black Rob, the New York City rapper formerly part of Sean “Diddy” Combs' Bad Boy label, has died. He was 52, according to the New York Times. Rob's former label mate, Mark Curry, announced Rob's death in two videos posted to Instagram on Saturday, and Variety has confirmed his passing through additional sources. “I don't know where to begin this,” Curry said in the first video. “But I thank everybody for the donations. Rob passed away about an hour ago.” In a second video, Curry said that he was with the rapper when he died. “Rest in peace to my brother. I was there with him. I was there with him,” Curry said. “Puff, I ain't talked to Puff in 15 years — we talked today,” Curry continued, referring to Combs. “This is the beginning of a new us. Rob made sure he knew what he had to do before he parted this world to make sure we all alright, and that's what he did. Bad boy for life, yo.” Rob's cause of death has not been confirmed, though Rob's friend DJ Self posted on Instagram that he was suffering from kidney issues last week. On April 11, Curry and producer Mike Zombie started a GoFundMe to help Rob pay his medical bills. The next day, Curry said on Instagram that Rob had been released from the hospital and mentioned he planned to go see him later to help with his recovery. In another video, Curry said Rob was put on dialysis. “This Gofundme is to help him find a home, pay for medical help & stability during these trying times. While the lighthearted stream found the two laughing it up as Megan failed to teach Tory the latest TikTok dance, some fans noted that their activities seemed to be violating social distance guidelines. For the most part, though, it seemed as though the two were having a good time and made a fun couple. The first signs of trouble in paradise arose when news broke in mid-July that Tory had been arrested for carrying a concealed weapon while Megan Thee Stallion, a passenger in his SUV at the time of his arrest, had suffered an injury to her foot. The Securities and Exchange Commission announced T.I. (Clifford Joseph Harris Jr.) and three other individuals settled charges against them for promoting two unregistered and fraudulent initial coin offerings (ICOs) on Friday (September 11, 2020). As part of his settlement, T.I. won't participate in offerings or sales of digital-asset securities for a minimum of five years. A spokesperson for the Grand Hustle boss issued the following statement. “Mr. Harris regrets his involvement with Mr. Felton,” the spokesperson told HIPHOPDX. “He attempted to help a local entrepreneur who presented an innovative idea for a streaming online platform that would help reduce the barriers of entry for creators of music and video content. Regrettably, Mr. Felton apparently never built the platform he promised T.I. and many others, and instead sought to profit from Mr. Harris's popularity and reputation. ”Felton has been accused of embezzling cryptocurrency funds raised for his companies FLiK and CoinSpark. According to the SEC's press release, the film producer “secretly transferred FLiK tokens to himself” and made a $2.2 million profit by selling them to the market. He's also accused of manipulative trading and using the money he unlawfully gained to make lavish purchases. A video conference call "to discuss next steps" was to be held Thursday between "a group of NBA players and team governors representing the 13 teams in Orlando, along with representatives from the National Basketball Players Association and the league office and NBA Labor Relations Committee Chairman Michael Jordan," according to the statement. Los Angeles Lakers LeBron James was reported as saying nothing for the most part in these meetings. Almost 60 years ago, Hall of Famer Bill Russell and some of his Boston Celtics teammates sat out a game in 1961 in protest of racial injustice. Strikes are banned under the NBA's collective bargaining agreement, which means the Milwaukee Bucks players broke their own contracts in order to protest the racial injustice and police violence. Alsina sang about a love affair with an actress on the song “Nunya” in 2019. The single art featured a text from a woman named Koren, which is Pinkett Smith's middle name, but he denied the song was about her. Reps for Pinkett Smith called the claims “absolutely not true. ” Then a few days later Pinkett Smith tweeted that “There's some healing that needs to happen … so I'm bringing myself to The Red Table,” referring to her Facebook Watch series, Red Table Talk, a talk show she hosts. Speaking to Smith on her Facebook show Red Table Talk, the actress said that the relationship happened while the pair were separated. "We were over," she says. The NBA board of governors voted to approve a 22-team format to restart the 2019-20 season on July 31st in Orlando, Florida. The National Basketball Players Association has been working closely with league officials on the plan, and the NBPA's team player representatives approved the proposal. "The Board's approval of the restart format is a necessary step toward resuming the NBA season," NBA commissioner Adam Silver said in a statement. "While the COVID-19 pandemic presents formidable challenges, we are hopeful of finishing the season in a safe and responsible manner based on strict protocols now being finalized with public health officials and medical experts. We also recognize that as we prepare to resume play, our society is reeling from recent tragedies of racial violence and injustice, and we will continue to work closely with our teams and players to use our collective resources and influence to address these issues in very real and concrete ways.” Kyrie Irving was one NBA player who didn't agree with the July return. Kyrie Irving led a conference call consisting of over 80 players from both the NBA and WNBA and became the first NBA superstar to directly voice his opposition to restarting the season at Disney. "I don't support going into Orlando," Irving reportedly said. "I'm not with the systematic racism and the bull. … Something smells a little fishy. Whether we want to admit it or not, we are targeted as black men every day we wake up.” Other players that reportedly spoke up about potentially sitting out at Disney were Donovan Mitchell, Carmelo Anthony, and Dwight Howard. Kevin Durant, Chris Paul, and Avery Bradley also reportedly played a major part in the call. Lebron James, on the other hand, is in favor of the season returning right now. The massive new airport didn't just take up lots of time and money—it also took up a lot of space: two decades later, it's still the largest airport in the United States. For the last 20 years, people have wondered if D.I.A.—giant, expensive, strange D.I.A.—is home to something far more sinister. The parallel runways were too close together for safe landing in bad weather, which happened around 150 days a year and cut the number of arrivals an hour from 80 to 36. DIA doesn't have the same problem, but it does have something far more nefarious: a shape that many people have noticed looks curiously like a swastika, at least from the air. Taken on its own, such a shape could be brushed off as being just a really terrible piece of planning, but combined with everything else, it all looks very odd indeed. The airport is home to a number of tunnels, including a tram that goes between concourses and a failed automated baggage system. That all sounds normal enough, but there is definitely something weird about that automated baggage system—mainly, that it cost a lot of money and then never actually worked. The system, which failed pretty spectacularly when it was first tested and just never got better, was one of the reasons for DIA's delayed opening. By 2005, most of the airport's concourses had abandoned it totally, making both its bloated price and long delays feel like even more of a failure—or at least a really weird way to cover up the building of tunnels. Prince George's County Police Department is facing backlash for the video of Delonte being leaked to news sources. The officer who filmed the video was suspended. Delonte West has had many years of incidents and warning signs that he may need more help then was receiving, especially for his bipolarism. The first big incident and red flag were in 2009 when Delonte West was arrested with guns while riding a motorcycle in the Maryland area. Delonte West has played in the NBA for the Boston Celtics, Seattle Supersonics, Cleveland Cavaliers, Dallas Mavericks. Due to negotiation discrepancies, Colin Kaepernick's workout got off to a rough start. That led Kaepernick and his team to take the work out in a different route, ending up at Charles Drew High School in Riverdale, Georgia. Stephen A. Smith of ESPN's "FIRST TAKE" went on a tirade soon after about the Colin Kaepernick workout. Reminder: Colin Kaepernick was taking a knee for social injustice, while other NFL football players have "brought heat" to the NFL via rape accusations and animal cruelty cases, it's almost as if the major media markets and the NFL as a whole, view Kaepernick's actions as somehow worse. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell recently stated, “We've moved on,” we can only assume he's speaking for all 32 NFL football teams in regards to Kaepernick's resigning. (REUTERS) Would an NFL team even feel comfortable at this point going against the Goodell grain? What's next for Colin Kaepernick?
