Romana Didulo, the self declared Queen of Canada, has somehow managed to convince her following that she is in fact leading this country with the help of both international partners and... well... aliens. In past Nighttime episodes, we looked at this story in a variety of ways... we discussed the fake queen's background, we examined the attempt her followers made to arrest the Peterborough, Ontario police force, and we've watched along with the ongoing siege of a small town in Saskatchewan the group is currently residing in. Throughout most of those episodes there was a bit of an undercurrent of "how can people believe this?" Clearly Romana Didulo's followers view her as much as a religious deity as a political leader... and that's why when I heard a professor and a lecturer from Queen's university's school of Religion published a research paper on Romana Didulo I had to learn more. Romana Didulo rose to prominence in 2020, gained a massive number of followers, moved her followers from online talk to in-person action, and has been traversing thew country in a notorious RV for the past year. All of this sounds absurd, but it's all tinged with the very real threat of violence.Today, Didulo and her followers have holed up in a tiny prairie town, that absolutely does not want them there. They are encamped at an abandoned school, refusing to leave and urging more to join them. In a past episode, I shared the story of Romana Didulo, the Pilipino immigrant who, from a bedroom in a Victoria, BC boarding house, convinced a surprising number of Canadians that she is the true queen of Canada and our Kingdom's commander in chief. Via a series of follow up episodes we also heard how she and her followers attempted a sort of twisted siege of a Peterborough police station. Despite the failed arrest of a police force, Romana Didulo and her followers haven't slowed down. Earlier this month they arrived in Kamsack, Saskatchewan with plans to rebuild the town under Didulo's rule only to be chased out of town by locals… but they didn't travel far. The Queen and her followers are now sheltering in an abandoned school house in the town of Richmound, Saskatchewan and the towns people have been circling it in protest almost since their arrival. For years Romana Didulo, better known to her followers as Queen Romana, has built a following of tens of thousands of people online behind a blend of QAnon conspiracies, COVID-19 denial, new age mysticism, the support of a supposed intergalactic alien consortium, and perhaps most notably, the belief that she is the one true sovereign Queen and ruler of the ‘Kingdom of Canada.' But in the past year the QAnon Queen's movement has gone offline, resulting in real world actions that began with the harassment of healthcare workers and COVID compliant businesses and escalated into an attack on local police forces in Ontario. She has more than 70,000 followers on the encrypted messaging app Telegram. Didulo's name first began surfacing during the pandemic, when she encouraged her followers to distribute “cease and desist” orders to health care workers, politicians, and others supporting COVID-19 restrictions and vaccinations. Last November, Didulo was detained by police after she encouraged her followers to “shoot to kill” anyone who gives vaccines to children. These are the conditions former followers say they endured on a cross-country RV tour with Romana Didulo, the self-proclaimed “Queen of Canada." Didulo became a well-known QAnon conspiracy figure, with claims she was the rightful ruler of Canada, but she originally didn't appear in public. Now, she's touring the country with supporters in RVs, including a stop in Peterborough, Ont., last month where her followers tried to arrest the city's police. Vice World News reporter Mack Lamoureux spoke to former tour “staff” members, including some that Didulo reportedly abandoned in the middle of Newfoundland. Today, what they allege about the abuse they suffered, and why both Lamoureux and some experts increasingly believe the group has the makings of a cult.

Using little more than a Youtube account a middle aged woman living in a boarding house in Victoria, BC has convinced thousands of people across the country that a global group of allied countries have appointed her Queen of Canada and Commander in Chief of Canada. Her followers (who refer to themselves as We The People) believe her many royal decrees to be law and they act accordingly. One such decree, an end to all covid related mandates, slowly evolved and mutated into a group of her followers laying Siege to the Peterborough Police Station with the goal of arresting the staff and turning them over to the American military to face charges of crimes against humanity. For months, a B.C.-based QAnon conspiracy influencer named Romana Didulo has been amassing followers online, declaring herself the “Queen of Canada.” In the summer, her audience began distributing cease-and-desist letters across North America on her behalf, demanding a stop to COVID-19 restrictions. Recently, her rhetoric escalated when she urged her followers to “shoot to kill” anyone who administers vaccines to children. The RCMP have visited her since, and one of her followers in Laval, Que., was arrested after allegedly posting threats about his daughter's school. Today on Front Burner, Vice World News reporter Mack Lamoureux discusses this influential QAnon figure, her active base of followers and law enforcement's response.

It may sound laughable, but Romana Didulo has been embraced by the online Qanon conspiracy subculture and as a result she has found herself with a large devoted following, upwards of 70k members in fact, and many of them believe her every word. Romana Didulo has declared the version of Canada she claims to lead a vaccination free country... and has declared vaccine administration a crime against humanity that is punishable by death... and she seems to have given her followers approval to carry out the enforcement. Her real name is Romana Didulo, and over the past few months her following has grown to tens of thousands. And she's putting them to use in real life—handing out cease and desist "orders" to authorities and businesses across the country.
