What are the true qualifications for church leadership, and how can we interpret biblical texts to support women's roles within the church? Join us on this episode of the First Century Youth Ministry Podcast, where we sit down with the insightful Tyler Don Rosenquist. Tyler kicks things off by sharing her passion for Bavarian cream donuts, leading into a deeper discussion about 1 Timothy, Chapter 3. We reveal how the original Greek text employs gender-neutral language and explore the broader cultural and linguistic contexts that can bolster arguments for women in leadership roles. Our conversation journeys through the ancient concepts of Episcopos and Diakonos, uncovering how elders in early communities were valued for their wisdom and experience rather than formal titles. Drawing from the expertise of Dr. Dwight Pryor, we compare these historical roles with modern church functions, emphasizing that true leadership is rooted in lived experience and the ability to guide others. . And, of course, we couldn't resist one last shout-out to the delicious Bavarian cream donuts that started our episode on such a sweet note.Join us at www.firstcenturyyouthministry.comBecome part of our growing Facebook community Join our "closed" group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/firstcenturyouthministryLike our fan page! https://www.facebook.com/FirstCenturyYouthMin

Satan was the first narcissist. In our fallen world, narcissists are running much of society. Consider the San Francisco Reparations Committee and their recent admission about how they came up with the $5 million per person wealth transfer to supposedly pay for the harms of slavery (but only where black people were slaves). Look at our Country having been put on the cusp of war for Ukraine, which The Party has forced us to adopt as a 51st State; instead of focusing on that, military commanders are making sure women don't object to men being in their showers and men can get their penises cut-in half. Behold the narcissism of Congresswoman Cori Bush who has married the un-licensed security guard to whom she gave $60,000 of taxpayer money while she demanded police be defunded. With these factors and examples in place, we are wise to get good at dealing with malignant narcissists. I will draw on the Bible, our years in teen and family therapy and a great book called, Don't Let Their Crazy Make You Crazy, for a framework to approach this battle. What does God say? Remember, when we are being led by malignant narcissists, they are not our enemy. It is their sin and the spiritual enemies that use their sin and illness against which we battle. Ephesians 6:1212 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.A Christians, we can bring God into the battle to help us. When we know we will have to deal with these people or the circumstances they create, we can “cope-ahead” by remembering God gives us this ability. 2 Corinthians 10:55 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.Don't Let Their Crazy Make You CrazySan Francisco Reparations Committee Chairman: No ‘Math Formula' Used to Calculate $5 Million PayoutPentagon Burdens Warfighting Commanders with New So-Called “Transgender” Policies for Military Personnel; New policies expand so-called “transgender” procedures to the service academies, allow “gender transitions” while on-duty, and mandate group shower facility use by both biological sexes if certain administrative requirements are met. Welcome to The Nonlinear Library, where we use Text-to-Speech software to convert the best writing from the Rationalist and EA communities into audio. This is: Happiness for the whole household: accounting for household spillovers when comparing the cost-effectiveness of psychotherapy to cash transfers, published by JoelMcGuire on April 14, 2022 on The Effective Altruism Forum. This post summarises our updated cost-effectiveness comparison of psychotherapy and cash transfers. It now includes an estimate of household spillovers and concludes psychotherapy is 9 times more cost-effective than cash transfers. Our original analysis estimated that the average psychotherapy intervention in our dataset would be 12 times more cost-effective than the average monthly cash transfer. We used this wider evidence base to estimate the cost-effectiveness of two highly effective charities at implementing each type of intervention: Give Directly (which provides $1,000 lump-sum cash transfers) and StrongMinds (which provides group psychotherapy). We estimated that StrongMinds was 12 times more cost-effective than GiveDirectly. Our analysis was critiqued (on Twitter and the EA Forum) on the grounds that omitting household spillovers would underestimate the effects of cash transfers compared to psychotherapy. We, therefore, decided to extend our estimate to include household spillovers. We now find that psychotherapy and StrongMinds are 9 times as cost-effective, a small reduction from before. We believe that our analysis demonstrates that high-quality mental health interventions can be as good or better than highly-regarded and well-evidenced economic interventions. This is a surprising and important result that should inform our global priorities. A further implication is that we've shown it is feasible to compare interventions in terms of their effects on subjective wellbeing and doing so can reveal new funding opportunities. In short, we think we can do good better by measuring good better. In the rest of this post, we review the pathways through which household spillovers occur and briefly discuss our methods and main findings. Pathways for interventions to spillover onto the whole household Some readers may be sceptical about the size of the spillover effects for cash transfers and/or psychotherapy. We think household spillovers can occur in at least two ways: economic contributions and emotional contagion (e.g. improved interpersonal interactions). Our aim here is simply to illustrate the mechanisms by which psychotherapy and cash transfers might plausibly produce household spillovers rather than providing a neat account of the nature and relative strengths of these dynamics. The evidence for household spillovers through economic contribution is clear for cash transfers. GiveDirectly recipients report spending most of their cash transfers (68.4%) on common household goods (GiveWell, 2016). Household spillovers via economic contributions also seem plausible for psychotherapy as meta-analyses of randomised controlled trials find that psychotherapy improves economic outcomes (Lund et al., 2020). Emotional contagion is likely to play a role in the spillover effects of both interventions as people's mood is affected by the mood of their close connections (Headey et al., 2014; Rosenquist et al., 2011). Meta-analyses have found that psychotherapy improves mother-child relationships (Cuijpers et al., 2015) and cash transfers reduce domestic violence (Baranov et al., 2021). Methods The key to estimating the total household effect for each intervention is to estimate the household spillover ratio, the share of the recipient's benefit that the average household member receives. We estimate this by taking the ratio of the average recipient effect and the household member effect for every study we found that includes both. Results For cash transfers, we estimate that each household member experiences 86% (95% CI: 43%, 154%) of the benefits experienced...

They live together in Portland, OR, and are the most genuine, authentic, humble, and kind people. This chat felt like a conversation between friends over dinner and wine.  In this conversation, we talk about both of their coming out journeys - Ash's journey is a wild and crazy one, their childhoods, labels - and why they can both help and hurt people, TikTok and why it's helped Ash not feel so alone throughout her journey, internalized homophobia, the role media plays in perpetuating non-consensual stereotypes - and more!  This is easily one of my favorite episodes to date and I can't wait to hear what you think!  If you want to be a guest on the Pink Pussy Podcast, please don't hesitate to reach out to me via email: chelsea@pinkpussypodcast.com Or, visit us on Instagram (www.instagram.com/pinkpussipodcast).        Resources:  Ash's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/ashmorganmusic/  Ash's TikTok: https://tiktok.com/@ashmorganmusic Mac's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thedadddymac/  Ash's Spotify Profile: https://open.spotify.com/artist/6ws5MAoaxgmB3rMDY5NswF  Ash's YouTube: https://youtube.com/channel/UCn2N7bmlq7SH6dEyGIvCaeA  Mac's YouTube: https://youtube.com/user/marosenq  Mac's TikTok: https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMechA5FE/  Ioba Toys:  Ioba Toys Website: https://www.iobatoys.com/  Use code PINKPUSSYPODCAST at checkout for 30% off your purchase

You know when you have to make a decision and your inner voice is saying, "Yeah, this is right for me!"; But, everyone else is saying, "What the hell are you doing?!"? This is a dilemma very familiar to Kristine Rosenquist. But, Kristine is really good at saying she's going to do something - such as making a move, changing careers, starting a business, finding a soulmate partner...then actually doing it.  And, to those watching; it may seem to happen very quickly.  Like one of her favorite quotes from Mary Oliver says, "I did think, let’s go about this slowly. This is important. This should take some really deep thought. We should take small thoughtful steps. But, bless us, we didn’t." No matter how quickly or slowly it takes you to make a decision; It's all about paying attention. Pay attention to those thoughts that come in, telling you it's time for a change. Do the research, be still so you can hear your intuition, then take action. Kristine says, "Learning to listen to this inner knowing and taking action has time and again, given me the confidence to step out of my comfort zone and just go for it, whatever "it" may be." When Amber first met Kristine, she was a single mom with a successful massage business she had grown from scratch and writing a memoir of her journey through drug use, a failed marriage, and becoming a single mother.  Things were going well for her and her business until she was hit with some medical issues, forcing her to quickly change careers. In true Kristine form she started a new business - one which is doing quite well, as you'll hear about in this episode.  Not only is she still working on her memoir; she's also in the process of writing a television series.   During that time of career change, she also decided that she was ready to find her soulmate partner after being single for many years...and to no surprise; he practically just walked right in.  Kristine says, "Life is not supposed to be a struggle. You're not supposed to be constantly fighting against a current that's holding you down. Life is expansive and beautiful and wonderful if we pay attention to what's coming in to our world."  And, we couldn't agree more!  Wherever you are in life, figuring out where you want to live next, changing careers due to the pandemic or something else, struggling to just keep going, looking for a romantic partner, needing some inspiration, or just seeking a story that will bring you joy, this episode will deliver.  Connect with Kristine on Instagram. On this Easter weekend edition of Parallax Views, filmmaker Brian Rosenquist joins us to discuss the Christian scare films of Ron Ormond. Evangelical convert Ron Ormond, along with his wife June Ormond and the help of Baptist minister Estus W. Pirkle, created supremely bizarre, gory, and shocking movies meant to literally scare the hell out of sinners and convert them to Christianity. Ormond's notorious "Christsploitation" films The Burning Hell, The Believer's Heaven, The Grim Reaper, and the anti-communist Red Scare flick If Footmen Tire You What Will Horses Do? scarred a generation of Sunday school children before becoming sought after cult classics of the cinematic underground vis-à-vis the legendary experimental band Negativland's sampling of If Footmen Tire You What Will Horses Do? in their hit single, played at college radio stations across America, "Christianity is Stupid". Brian fills us in on the life, times, and films of the Ormonds and tells us about his upcoming documentary about the Ormonds on this edition of Parallax Views. Brian Rosenquist
