Key Takeaways Estate planning is planning for what happens to you, your family, and your assets as you age, often reflected in a suite of specific documents. Everyone can benefit from an estate plan. Often, we have more assets than we realize. Estate planning can be intimidating because it requires you to confront your own mortality. It's easier to revise than to reinvent. Begin working on these documents when you are younger and have energy, then adjust as circumstances change throughout your life.

The Big 12 Conference was in the news this month with an announcement on the exit of Texas and Oklahoma earlier than originally thought. How does this impact women's basketball going forward? Analyst Missy Heidrick breaks that and more down today. It looks like it will be a crazy finish to the Big 12 regular season as Texas and OU fight for the title and to unseat Baylor who has won the past 12 regular season title. Who else is in the mix? In this podcast, Chris Hoyt catches up with Grant Clough, Director of Talent Acquisition, AARP and Scott Weaver, Director of Talent Acquisition, Teradata, to talk about not only the experience of candidates but of the larger TA structure. In the recent CXR meeting that addressed the full stakeholder experience (Candidate, Recruiter, and Hiring Managers) these teams shared a more holistic approach to the “X” experience in an effort to largely improve the quality of recruiting within their organizations. Clough and Weaver share the tremendous amount of work that has gone into the mapping of not only the stakeholders but also their employees who might be considering a move internally. This meant a multi-year effort to map the entire recruiting experience and making some tough decisions that would ultimately lend themselves to improve aspects that were determined to have the most impact to both speed and quality deliveries from their teams. [Read This: It’s not just about the candidate. How’s your hiring manager experience?] Those that attended the meeting (and current CXR members) have access to the visual maps that were shared by AARP and Teradata leaders as well as more information specific to the results of getting stakeholders involved from the beginning and rolling this considerable initiative to teams over the course of various iterations and levels of engagement. Lastly, our interviewees on this podcast share, quite candidly, what they’d do differently if starting this work all over again.
Candidate experience! CX! Everyone is talking about it these days. And in the battle for the best talent, IT MATTERS (trust us). He shares how he is “operationalizing and systematizing” candidate experience at Teradata.

Welcome to a special edition of Space Brothers, the BMX demo show! BMX demos have been around since the beginning of BMX freestyle. Most of us remember the first show we ever saw. It's more than just watching guys do tricks on their bikes. It's a performance that many of us never forget. It's no secret that BMX demos, also known as shows, are important to the growth of the sport. It's a chance for people to watch BMX in person while being able to experience the intricacies of not only the tricks, but the speed, height, and sometimes the reality of crashing. It's also a chance for the casual or hardcore BMX fan to take a closer look at the bikes, ramps, safety gear used, and an opportunity to get an autograph and maybe ask a question to their favorite rider. It's no secret, that many riders have gotten into BMX after watching a live demo! However doing demos and making a living riding your bike in front of an audience isn't for everyone. It takes a lot of talent and you have to be smart about the tricks you do while riding in a show. In most cases if you get injured and can't ride at a high level, you'll be replaced. Many young riders dream about someday performing in front of a live audience and getting paid for riding their bike. The reality is, a very lucky few actually make a living doing BMX demos and most of these riders will tell you, the easiest part of doing a BMX show, is the show itself. What makes it difficult is the planes, trains, and automobiles to get to and from the actual events, the challenging riding areas, changing flat tires after midnight, riding in less than perfect conditions, performing in 100 degree heat, eating at gas stations and fairs when nothing else is around, managing nagging injuries, and a whole lot more. Doing bmx shows is just as much mental as it is physical. Who better to interview about BMX shows than the BMX Trickstars team! So we sat down with Rob Nolli, owner of the BMX Trickstars with over 25 years experience doing demos who's traveled to all 50 states, and Scott Weaver a veteran pro flatland rider with over 15 years experience. We talked about the format for their shows, the types of tricks they do, advice to riders wanting to do shows on a team, and an overall behind the scenes look at what it takes to not only pull off a successful BMX show, but to get the gig the next time around. So get comfortable, crank up your speakers, and get the down low on BMX shows, it's the BMX Trickstars, Rob Nolli and Scott Weaver. Ready For Takeoff - Turn Your Aviation Passion Into A Career
Scott Weaver hails from a long line of pilots, starting with his grandfather, Leo Purington, who had a 4-digit pilot certificate number. Scott was immersed in aviation from a young age, but had initially aspired to a career as a professional baseball player. Finally, the flying bug bit him, and he entered the Air Force and attended Undergraduate Pilot Training (UPT). Following UPT, he stayed in Air Training Command as a First Assignment Instructor Pilot (FAIP), instructing student pilots. Then it was time for him to get his fighter assignment, and he selected the F-16. Scott continued to fly the F-16 for the rest of his career, including his time in the DC Air Guard. He retired from the Guard as a Lieutenant Colonel. After leaving active duty, Scott hired on with a major airline, and currently flies B777's on international routes. Scott also wrote a book that chronicles the history of Thunderbird Field and his family's role in that history. As part of his research, he met Jerry Yellin, the pilot who flew the last combat mission of World War II, who trained at Thunderbird Field.
Scott Weaver has created a replica of San Francisco that is as large as 5 refrigerators. What makes his creation spectacular is that it is made entirely out of toothpicks and has tracks on which ping pong balls can travel through his city. My family had the pleasure of meeting Scott at the Exploratorium in San Francisco where he told us about his work. We then continued the conversation for the podcast. You're going to find Scott's story incredible. From toothpicks to massive Christmas light displays, Scott has lived a life in which he has followed his passions and creativity. He is an inspiration and a really really good guy! Continue reading Episode #132 – Scott Weaver on the site.
