Saluton, estas mi Tyson Saner and I will be your host for this episode of Succotash that numbers 304. Last week in Epi303, my co-host and your more-or-less every-other-show host Marc Hershon brought you a "Chats" episode that featured a conversation with Pat Hazell, who — as described by Mr. Hershon in last week's episode description — "is a multi-hyphenate threat as they used to say: comedian-writer-director-producer, and (as of the pandemic)host of a soundcast called Creativity in Captivity. It's a terrific episode with some fascinating conversation and I encourage you to listen to it when you get the chance, assuming you have not already done so. Succotash also has a format that we refer to as "Clips" episodes and this one that you are listening to right now is one of those. This week I went out and clipped a trio of other people's soundcasts for you. I've got clips from the shows Hello Wonderful, Prolly Shoulda Known Better, and That Happens. I've also got a classic commercial from our longtime FAKE sponsor Henderson's Pants'; Republfit Pants for you, just in time for the midterm primaries! CLIPS Hello Wonderful Dr. Terry Dornak, PsyD (a member of the Queer Community herself) chats with a different guest from the queer community each week as they tell a story from their life. She's looking to fight and break stigma and stereotypes about the Queer/LGBTQ+ community with the stories revealed on the show. "It is time we take back the power that has been taken from the Queer community," writes Dr. Dornak in the show's description.  The clip is from the episode that dropped back on April 23rd, 2022, entitled "Hmm, Would I Rather Get Lost in the Amazon or Deal with Florida Politics?" The guest is Jayme Bean: an author, parent, traveler, zookeeper, and reluctant fireworks watcher. Her book, Untouched, is a queer adventure novel that tell the thrilling journey of 2 graduate students who are lost in the Amazon. Beware of curses, animals, bugs, and Bi-sex oh my! Prolly Shoulda Known BetterAs the show description says, this soundcast is celebrating comedy that has aged very poorly. Hosted by Nadia Vazquez and Tony Ginocchio. Our clip is from the show from December 22, 2021 when Tony and Nadia closed out the Disney season with a Christmas selection from the Disney+ era, and a prime example of current-world Disney cranking out worthless chum for their endless content scroll, starring a “worthless chum” in the form of a British child actor with negative charisma, surrounded by talented comedians who try so hard to save this movie and fail miserably. That Happens The show's description says it all, mostly: "Rising from the ashes like some sort of podcasting phoenix, hosts Jeff B. Davis (Whose Line is it Anyway?) and Spencer Crittenden (Harmontown) embark on the most courageous and groundbreaking mission ever conceived: Talking into microphones. Join our heroes as they fearlessly wade into a myriad of topics and takes as they crack wise and make merry, with and without special guests. Oh, also they play dungeons and dragons sometimes. That happens! A podcast!" We clip a chunk from the June 10th, 2021, episode "Side Character Eyes". By the time you reach the end of the show, I do hope you find something to enjoy in all of this. Maybe you will be inspired to seek out more content from the soundcasts featured in this program, maybe you will be inspired to start your own soundcast…and if you do, and I happen to hear it…I just might clip it for a future episode of Succotash. It's hard to say… BTW, I have a newer soundcast that I've been trying to put together for a couple years now. It is more-or-less geared toward mental health and wellness and It's called Happiness or Something Like It. It actually debuted as a ".5" episode of another soundcast I host with a friend of mind called Hunter Block. At any rate, you can find the YouTube version of it posted here. In the meantime, thank you for listening, be decent to each other, and if someone happens to ask if you'd heard anything interesting lately and we spring to mind won't you please pass the Succotash? — Tyson Saner

Movie 'Life or Something Like It' - Commentary by David Hoffmeister - Weekly Online Movie WorkshopDropping the mask and facing the fear of intimacy is the first voted theme for the movie today, and yes, we're ready for that one. Sometimes we think of the mask as our persona, our personality self. Still, Jesus would say, well, it's dropping your identification with the personality self, the persona, but really it's the whole world you perceive. The whole cosmos of time and space is your mask. Your personal mask is just a tiny part of it. So he would say; actually, it's like a big cosmic fig leaf covering your mind, hiding it in time and space, trying to deny your eternal reality as a perfect creation of God, as perfect spirit. So we need help. We're talking about more than a big fig leaf here; we're asking for the veil of time and space to be lifted from our awareness that we may go directly to the light. Enjoy David's commentary to one of the classic movie's in the Movie Watchers Guide to Enlightenment and let yourself be eliminated. You can watch the introduction to the movie on YouTube: https://youtu.be/01_6VZj8lzY.If you want to know more about Living Miracle and David Hoffmeister and upcoming events, look here: https://circle.livingmiraclescenter.org/events.The movie workshop was recorded Saturday, November 13, 2021, in Chapala, Mexico.

Saluton! Estas mi, Tyson Saner. Welcome to Succotash Shut-In, as this soundcast continues to be known into this new year, which is 2021. Welcome to Epi236: The first show of 2021 that I have hosted. How has your year been so far?…Yeah, I feel you. We carry on because we must...and as we do, some of us look for distractions. Soundcasts, or "podcasts" as much of the world still refers to them, are one such type of distraction. Comedy is another type of distraction entirely... in fact it is multiple types of distractions due to the subjective nature of "comedy". Some of the content this soundcast samples for you will be funny... but not to all of you. Technically, I'm not necessarily looking for funny content as I gather clips. I gravitate toward listening to people I find interesting. Maybe that's how you feel about it as well. Last week in Epi235 my soundcast co-host... or every-other-show-host Marc Hershon…brought you a quartet of clips from the soundcasts Fantastic! with Dana Carvey, Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend, Aunty Donna Podcast, and From The Oasthouse with Alan Partridge. It was a great episode and I encourage you to listen to it if you have not already. It can be found on the show's website www.succotashshow.com as well as on Google Podcasts, Apple Podcasts, Stitcher, iHeart Radio, Laughable and YouTube... audio only. This week in Epi236 I've got clips from Love, Alexi, Strange Times, and In the Envelope: The Actor’s Podcast. I've also got a strangely topical advertisement from our longtime fake sponsor Henderson's Pants, and a reading from what will presumably be some of the last entries posted on TrumPoetry.com . I have referred to TrumPoetry.com many times over the years as "the 100% fake sponsor with the 100% real website" because I really want people to visit the website and appreciate the awesomeness of the work contained on it created by Joe Paulino. It has been a helluva journey… CLIPS Love, Alexi Described as "a talk show for your ears and heart", Alexi Wasser's Love, Alexi, is a soundcast where she "speaks to creative people who inspire me & discuss who they are, how they got there, sex, love, dating, feelings, life, & everything in between." Our clip is from December 21st of 2016, and features guest Dino Stamatopoulos, where they get into the time Dino was almost a cast member of the show "I Love Dick"." (You may remember him as the recurring characters Starburns on NBC's Community.) Strange Times Strange Times is a weekly comedy & satirical podcast presented by longtime friends of Succotash Davian Dent, Kat Sorens & Dom Risk. From the January 12th episode #309, "Lost in Translation", from just last week. This clip features the trio discussing the biggest news story of the new year and how they are reacting to it across the pond as it were. In the Envelope: The Actor’s PodcastBackstage has been the #1 resource for actors and talent-seekers for 60 years. In the Envelope, Backstage’s podcast, features intimate, in-depth conversations with today’s most noteworthy film, television, and theater actors and creators. Hosted by Jack Smart, the Awards Editor at Backstage, this is a guide on how to live the creative life from those who are doing it every day. Our clip comes from July of last year, an episode with guests Eugene Mirman and John Roberts. The snippet itself features audio from John Roberts' portion of the interview. I do hope you find something enjoyable in today's offering. Next week, Marc Hershon will be at the helm of Epi237 and I'm hoping you will come back to us then, and the following week where I will presumably be hosting Epi238. Sometimes I don't really know what to say at the end of these. I want to wish you all a happy week or as happy as you can make it. Mental health is important. I'm still in production of my coming soundcast Happiness, or Something Like It and my plan is to have it release before my next episode of Succotash Shut-In but, as I often say, "life happens" so I am not going to beat myself up too much if that doesn't work out. I'll let you know when it comes out on my Twitter, which is @revt23. (It will most likely be on my personal Soundcloud which you can find a link to at www.tysonsaner.com or by going to Soundcloud.com and typing "Tyson Saner" into the search. You can also find links to my YouTube channel, and my wife's YouTube channel there…and we'd appreciate it if you'd drop by and give our content a look. There's a whole archive to be perused. As far as Succotash Shut-In goes, we'd really appreciate it if you could take a moment to rate and review us on Apple Podcasts, Stitcher, Google Podcasts or wherever other folks might read it. You'll be doing us a big favor if you do. Sharing us is one of many ways you can show us you care. It's also what we mean when we implore you to Please, Pass The Succotash. — Tyson Saner

This week on the pod we talked about the sexism that holds Life or Something Like It back from being a good film. Angelina Jolie plays a delightful human being who everyone seems to hate because she's... thin, blonde and goal-oriented. That's it. She's not a secret racist or anything. Just an evil blonde. Hiss! Edward Burns plays the "love interest" who negs her into losing her confidence. Swoon!
