High Conflict divorce is challenging enough, but when it escalates to legal abuse, the emotional and financial toll can be overwhelming. In this episode, we unpack what legal abuse looks like in the context of high-conflict divorce, where one party may use the legal system to exhaust, intimidate, and financially drain the other. Whether it's endless filings, false accusations, or unreasonable demands, legal abuse can turn a difficult process into a battle of attrition. But understanding the warning signs can be your first line of defense against this form of manipulation. We dive into the red flags that often indicate legal abuse, from repeated court appearances to unreasonable custody demands. These signs, often orchestrated by individuals with narcissistic or controlling tendencies, are designed to exploit the legal system for personal gain. Our discussion provides insights into recognizing these tactics early, equipping you with knowledge that can help you avoid costly pitfalls and find ways to better protect yourself and your family. Our guests today are Lisa Johnson and Chris Barry, co-founders of Been There Got Out. With extensive experience supporting people through high-conflict divorces, Lisa and Chris offer practical, battle-tested guidance for those facing legal abuse. Kenneth shares his thoughts about how sometimes an attorney could make things worse, feeding the fire during the process, and how his case got so bad because the attorney wasn't helping his ex-spouse make decisions; instead, he was backing her up. You need your attorney to be honest about when to stop fighting. We discussed: ✅ The common reasons why people try to save their marriage and how society, cultural aspects, and your children could affect your decision. ✅ The divorce process and the complications you could get. ✅ How to handle a spouse who is too emotional and thinks a divorce is a competition. ✅ How to identify a reasonable attorney and the benefits of having a neutral mediator so he can help with what works best for both parties. ✅ His life after divorce and how he wishes he would've decided to divorce before so his happiness could've finally started earlier. ...AND SO MUCH MORE...     Slam the Gavel welcomes Rod McCall and Melanie Davis back to the podcast to discuss the harsh reality that Parental Alienation does exist and the introduction of other terms such as  "resist and refuse," "custodial interference," "hostile parenting," are becoming misused by organizations.    Rod McCall was last on the podcast 2-24-2021, Season 2, Episode 18. He is book author of, "For The Love Of Eryk, Surviving Divorce, Parental Alienation, And Life After," which can be found on Amazon.    Melanie Davis, Publisher of Triumph Press was last on the Podcast, April 13 2021, Season 2, Episode 36. The term Parental Alienation is under attack. This is a battle that is being waged; bickering between those who need be uniting. The bickering is being caused by the "beast", also known as "the courts" when the court is being corrupt more often than not. People are saying we can't use that term, because if we do, we won't be taken seriously. However, it is the court that knows it is a powerful word that is distinctive, simple and says exactly what is happening and when there is a powerful weapon that is phrased that way that those that don't want it used will do anything to throw it out. The problem is that people that are dealing with this are starting to embrace these new terms as if this is the new direction to go in. If this happens it is like bowing to a captor. Parents: fathers and mothers who are alienated should be banding together as a strong force, not creating division. A house divided CANNOT stand.    Rod McCall explained that it's not a man issue or a woman issue, it is a people issue. A paper came out in May of 2022, published and talked about the amount of research going on in PA has taken place since 2016. Rod is a part of the Parental Alienation Study Group, that takes part in the research and publishing articles on the science behind Parental Alienation. The effects of divorce and the ACE study, there is no way Parental Alienation can be denied.  Alienation can happen to anyone, this is not a gender issue.      It is important to understand that Parental Alienation is the right word, the most descriptive word instead of, "resist and refuse," which is very watered down. There is cooperation when other's should be defending the term.    We discussed Kayden's law passed by the National Congress earlier this year. There is a Violence Against Women group and there is a version of this to push this in all 50 states. It will allow mandated reporters of violence to a child to report abuse but not allowed to testify in court and only the men are the perpetuators, while it is only the women/mothers that are the victims. It is a mental illness issue not a gender issue.     Parental Alienation can happen to anyone.https://music.amazon.com/podcasts/9b7a887a-eaf2-43f6-a65b-4f55ae56e8be/episodes/0c1c2968-7d5f-42c6-8af7-750529945a8a/home-sweet-home-home-sweet-home-listening-to-understandSupportshow(https://www.buymeacoffee.com/maryannpetri)http://beentheregotout.com/http://www.dismantlingfamilycourtcorruption.com/Music by: mictechmusic@yahoo.comSupport the showSupportshow(https://www.buymeacoffee.com/maryannpetri)http://beentheregotout.com/http://www.dismantlingfamilycourtcorruption.com/
