“I'm scanning pornography into the computer to make a lady!” - Eric as George W. Bush On this week's show, we're chatting about the 1985 John Hughes-directed, sci-fi sex comedy, Weird Science! How strange is it that back in the day, these creep-tacular incels were just considered harmless, lovable nerds? Why would they cut out all the solid Bride of Frankenstein conversation from the theatrical cut? Has there been a better titular song in cinema? Is this weird science, or weird computer magic? How cool is all the reversed footage at the end? And are those grandparents dead or what? PLUS: Christopher Nolan - huge Weird Science fan? Weird Science stars Anthony Michael Hall, Kelly LeBrock, Ilan Mitchell-Smith, Suzanne Snyder, Judie Aronson, Robert Downey Jr., Robert Rusler, Vernon Wells, Britt Leach, Michael Berryman, and the late, great Bill Paxton as Chet; directed by John Hughes. Face it--cancer will touch nearly everyone's life at some point. There are a few tougher times for someone challenged by cancer or their caregivers. To make that journey a bit easier, Suzanne Snyder (a breast cancer survivor) formed a non-profit, Sail Beyond Cancer. Originally from Vermont and now based in Anne Arundel County, Suzanne has created a respite for people diagnosed with cancer. Armed with a sailboat, volunteer captain, mate, and photographer, Sail Beyond Cancer gives their nominees and five other people three hours of peace and tranquility on the water. It's truly a fascinating and unique program. Several chapters are up and running, and more are on the way. Do you know someone who is challenged by cancer? Nominate them! Have a listen! NOTE: Rise Up Coffee was loud. There was a lot of audio processing to try to fix it. It is not up to par audio-wise, and we apologize. But this is an important story! They're klowns. They kill. They're from outer space. Need we say more??? We're pretty sure the title of this movie alone could convince anyone that it's worth a watch, but if that doesn't do it, the tagline definitely will. On a new episode of Spooky Tuesday, we're talking about just how craazzy Killer Klowns from Outer Space (1988) actually is. Though it may have been under appreciated when it first hit theaters, it didn't take long for this film to find its audience, and its cotton candy cocoons and animatronic aliens quickly helped propel it to cult classic status. And while all that is super cool, we still have one more thing to add: It's all about that OT3, baby.
