Dedee is such an adorable individual! I absolutely loved speaking to her about her role in this movie. I didn't even have to ask the questions; it's like she knew what I wanted to ask, and she answered everything I wanted to know. She covered the makeup, special effects, and what it was like working alongside Robert Rusler, Gedde Watanabe and Grace Jones. This movie is now considered one of my favorite vampire films. Not just because of the cast, but because of the way it was produced. With it capturing the campy essence of the 1980's, it brought back an era of something that was fun and colorful.

Send us a textWe don't remember much about this movie, only that it went in a different direction than the others for better or worse. It had a more serious tone and Freddy wasn't as chatty as usual. We also don't remember that since its release this movie has become a bit of a Gay/Horror cult classic. We'll be honest, this went right over our heads. To be fair, the last time we saw this movie, we were still kids. Not only are we excited to back to Elm Street, but we're just as excited to see everything we seemingly missed. So join us as we go back to 1985 and watch what is apparently, a more gay Nightmare On Elm Street.Do You Remember Liking This Movie?
Send us a textWow, there is a lot to unpack with this movie. They didn't even hire Robert Englund. They didn't use any of the music from the original, which every other film in the series does. They redid Freddy's look. New Line Cinema had a lot riding on this film, like everything, and much much more.Do You Remember Liking This Movie?

“I'm scanning pornography into the computer to make a lady!” - Eric as George W. Bush On this week's show, we're chatting about the 1985 John Hughes-directed, sci-fi sex comedy, Weird Science! How strange is it that back in the day, these creep-tacular incels were just considered harmless, lovable nerds? Why would they cut out all the solid Bride of Frankenstein conversation from the theatrical cut? Has there been a better titular song in cinema? Is this weird science, or weird computer magic? How cool is all the reversed footage at the end? And are those grandparents dead or what? PLUS: Christopher Nolan - huge Weird Science fan? Weird Science stars Anthony Michael Hall, Kelly LeBrock, Ilan Mitchell-Smith, Suzanne Snyder, Judie Aronson, Robert Downey Jr., Robert Rusler, Vernon Wells, Britt Leach, Michael Berryman, and the late, great Bill Paxton as Chet; directed by John Hughes. Bring Me The Axe kicks off its Pride 2023 series with a mostly unremarkable movie that remains in the horror movie memory thanks entirely to contributions from gay artists, the 1986 horror comedy Vamp, starring Chris Makepeace, Robert Rusler, and Grace Jones. In an attempt to make a story about two very good friends trying to wheel and deal their way into a college fraternity, writer/director, Richard Wenk, accidentally tips the movie into queer territory with a story about the unrequited love of one man for another. You'll also learn way more about Keith Haring and Robert Mapplethorpe than you were probably expecting to in a chat about how awesome Grace Jones is. Meet is at Bronson Canyon Halfpipe. 9:00. Joust. Be there. No, YOU be there! You shut up, you little punk. It's time to get down with Corey and Tommy, and some boxing gloves on a chain. We're talking Daggers and The Ramp Locals. And don't let Tommy catch Chrissy with any Val jerks!"That wild Indian picture happens to be stylin', you don't know what you're talkin' about."
Actor Robert Rusler (Weird Science, Thrashin', Shag, Vamp) was a big part of some our favorite 80's films. We were beyond stoked to have him on the show to discuss his time as the love interest of Phoebe Cates in Shag, his role as the dynamic leader of the notorious skate crew, the Daggers (and enemy of Josh Brolin) in Thrashin', and of course, as a bully in the John Hughes film that launched his career, Weird Science. Robert is candid about how sobriety saved his life and how gratitude, love and joy changed his perspective and allowed him to see beyond regret. He shares how important his relationship with Robert Downey Jr. has always been, since meeting on the set of Weird Science, the wisdom RDJ taught him about auditioning and life, and how close they remain to this day. On this episode since it's Pride Month I'm discussing a few of my favorite LGBTQ+ characters in horror films. Starting with an oldie and throwing in some newer favs as well. Talking about psychics, scream queens of a different gender, mad scientist, my crush on Robert Rusler, making new friends (literally) and an honorable mention from the small screen. For this title Take Me or Leave Me the artist is Idina Menzel and Tracie Thoms.
What do you little maniacs want to do first? We're not just talking candle wax on the nipples or witchcraft, or chip, dips, chain n whips, we're talking about the renegade John Hughes movie "Weird Science" (1985) with our favorite straight brother Dylan Hay-Chapman. Kelly LaBrock is insanely fierce as Lisa, the Marry Poppins for teenage boys. The gays want to be her, and the straights well you know… We talk about all the iconique Lisa costume changes, '80s bad boy cuties Robert Downey Jr and Robert Rusler, a scene stealing Bill Paxton, and the two teenage boys (Anthony Michael Hall, and Ilan Mitchell-Smith) at the center of one of the horniest teen movies ever made. Surprisingly, Nathan had NOT seen this week's film as a very young child but alas, the guys watched Vamp (thanks to Steve and Izzy for the Listeners Choice pick!) and had some stuff to say - why is everyone turned on by the very bizarre "striptease" by Grace Jones in full kabuki makeup? Do you think Gedde Watanabe was relieved to not have to effect an "accent" in an 80s movie for once? Does this film have one of the worst payoffs to a running bit? And for the love of all that is holy, can we COOL IT with the puns during the finale?! Check our social media on Sunday for the Sunday Screencrap and take a guess at our next movie! You've asked and you've asked and you've asked! The boys are finally covering A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge, but there's a catch: it's LIVE! This means no editing took place in the post-production of this episode, so you get to hear all of their "ums," "uhs" and all other sorts of screw-ups.As part of Fantastic Fest's queer horror sidebar (which included the Texas Premiere of the documentary Scream, Queen! My Nightmare on Elm Street and a drag performance by Peaches Christ), the boys were fortunate enough to discuss NOES 2 with the film's stars Mark Patton (Jesse), Robert Rusler (Grady) and Kim Myers (Lisa)! In a podcast first, this episode comes to you completely uncut (like all the best things in life). Delight in the fact that Patton calls Trace on his bullshit in the first 5 minutes of the recording and completely derails the intended plan for the episode (in a good way, though!) There's nothing like winging it, is there? Also, Patton gives his thoughts on Wes Craven, Rusler reminisces about doing cocaine with Grace Jones, Myers kick-starts a rendition of "Happy Birthday to You" for Patton (because hey, this recording took place on his birthday!) and Joe keeps his cool throughout all of it. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
Actor, interior designer, and painter Mark Patton joins Matt on this week’s Homophilia to discuss his role in the new documentary Scream, Queen! My Nightmare on Elm Street exploring the homoerotic Nightmare on Elm Street 2. They discuss his wonderful relationship with costar Robert Rusler, being gay in Hollywood in the 80s, and how he related to his character Jesse. They also talk about his life in Mexico, why he said goodbye acting, and who are the homophobic gatekeepers in the entertainment industry. Then, co-directors Tyler Jenson and Roman Chimienti join for the second half of the interview to discuss how this documentary came together.
It's a week of shows on THE LATE NIGHT FRIGHT and we continue with TERROR TUESDAY as we spotlight A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 2: FREDDY'S REVENGE starring Mark Patton, Kim Myers, Robert Rusler and Robert Englund as Freddy Krueger!

Thrashin' is the 1986 skateboarding movie that made us all go beg our parents to buy us a board. A few injuries later and we all realized we were not Tony Hawk. Or even a potential member of the Daggers. Which is the totally radical gang in this epic. They skateboard and drink generic beer while causing all kinds of problems around town. If you mess with them, you will end up in a weird jousting showdown where you could be killed via skateboarding or shamed to death by not being cool. Either way this film is actually not that bad and a change from all the horror we usually watch. Plus it has Josh Brolin, Robert Rusler, and a very fine Sherilyn Fenn. You should be searching for this movie just for that reason. So join us as things get totally tubular in the Bird Hole as we go.....Thrashin!

All new "IT" Cort has legendary actor Robert Rusler over to talk about "old Hollywood" what it was like in the Crazy 80's!!
Tracy and Herman are lucky enough to interview the great Robert Rusler, an actor who has spent his whole life experiencing the magic of Hollywood, both on and off the screen. He told us tales about his career, the making of Weird Science, and some great side stories about Nightmare On Elm Street 2 and Thrashin'. He's a wise man and we are wiser from talking to him. Thanks Robert Rusler!

In this episode Wayne and Tim interview actor Robert Rusler. Robert is well known for his roles in A Nightmare on Elm St. part 2, Weird Science, Vamp, and Thrashin'. We get to get a little inside info on his life as a teen actor, working with some of the biggest names in the biz, and how he managed to overcome the pitfalls of a young actor lifestyle. We also talk about the upcoming and completed films he is writing and producing including Black Asylum. Robert Rusler - actor, athlete, writer, and natural performer - was born on September 20, 1965, in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He soon moved to Hawaii, where he lived on Waikiki Beach and started surfing and skateboarding on a semi-professional level. At a young age his family moved to Los Angeles, where he began his martial arts career and entered many competitions. Then the bug struck to become an actor and Robert, right out of high school, met his manager and began taking acting classes at the Loft Studio with Peggy Feury and William Traylor. Soon thereafter he landed his first starring role, opposite Anthony Michael Hall and Robert Downey Jr. in John Hughes Weird Science (1985). He then starred opposite Marshall Bell and Robert Englund in A Nightmare on Elm Street Part 2: Freddy's Revenge (1985) . Later projects included Thrashin' (1986) opposite Josh Brolin (and all of his top professional skateboarding idols) and _Vamp (1986/I)_ opposite Grace Jones and Chris Makepeace, for which he received the award for Best Actor in a Science Fiction or Horror Film.
