Achieving Liberation through Svadharma: Krishna's Revolutionary Path to Self-RealizationWhat You'll DiscoverIn this transformative exploration of Bhagavad Gita verses 18.41-18.48, we unveil the profound path of liberation through Svadharma--the revolutionary teaching that shows how embracing your natural duties becomes the gateway to spiritual freedom. Lord Krishna reveals to Arjuna that true liberation doesn't require abandoning the world but rather engaging with it through the lens of your authentic nature and divine service. This ancient wisdom demonstrates how liberation through Svadharma offers a practical alternative to traditional renunciation. Instead of viewing worldly responsibilities as obstacles to enlightenment, Krishna shows how performing our natural duties with devotion and detachment becomes the very means of transcendence. "By performing one's duties through their natural occupation," Krishna teaches, "one worships the Creator and attains perfection."The path of liberation through Svadharma recognizes four distinct temperaments within the Varanashrama framework, each offering unique opportunities for spiritual growth. Whether you're naturally inclined toward the Brahmin's path of wisdom and teaching, the Kshatriya's path of protection and leadership, the Vaishya's path of resource stewardship, or the Shudra's path of skilled service, your authentic nature becomes your vehicle for liberation. The revolutionary aspect of liberation through Svadharma lies in Krishna's declaration that "Better is one's own duty, though imperfectly performed, than the duty of another well performed." This teaching liberates us from the spiritual comparison trap, affirming that your unique path, however humble it may appear, offers the most direct route to self-realization.In our modern world of career confusion and spiritual seeking, liberation through Svadharma provides urgently needed clarity. This podcast reveals why so many feel spiritually unfulfilled despite following conventional wisdom about success and achievement. When we attempt to live someone else's dharma, we create internal conflict that blocks our natural flow toward liberation.Through Krishna's fire-and-smoke analogy, you'll discover why every sincere effort aligned with your nature carries transformative power, even when it appears imperfect. The teachings include practical methods for:Recognizing your authentic temperament and callingTransforming daily activities into spiritual practiceFinding deep fulfillment through aligned actionAchieving psychological flow and inner peaceLiberation through Svadharma reveals that we need not choose between worldly engagement and spiritual freedom. When we align our outer activities with our inner nature and offer all results to the divine, ordinary life becomes extraordinary, and each moment offers an opportunity for transcendence.Discover how this timeless wisdom can guide you to authentic success, inner peace, and ultimate liberation.~ krsnadaasa (Servant of Krishna)

Many of us lead very fragmented lives. If we're lucky, we set aside a couple hours a week to what really lights us up in between our busy "9-to-5"s and hectic social and family obligations. I find it very inspiring, therefore, to connect with people like this week's guest Sharanya Rao, who succeed in "bringing their whole selves" to their day to day and follow their passion. Sharanya is an expert on making transitions, having lived in 4 countries, and changed careers from being a commercial litigation lawyer to government and then to becoming a professional coach. Now, as the head of Global Coaching Works and the Artistic Director of Leela - An Indian Community Theatre, she focuses on empowering individuals and developing their potential through Co-Active Coaching, mindfulness and creativity. She is a champion of diversity and inclusion, and a true believer in the power of community. In this episode, we touch on numerous topics including: The concept of a Third Culture Kid (TCK), and the implications of straddling the cultural norms of three countries (India, Singapore, and the United States) on adaptability and authenticity. Further, how this unique background helped Sharanya navigate a career shift from law into leadership coaching. An overview of Leela, and its showcase project Anklets in the Boardroom, a project story-telling inspired in part by the Theater of the Oppressed and leaders such as Deepa Purushothaman; how these initiatives helped Sharanya follow her passion and give voice to South Asian women struggling with workplace discrimination. Exciting announcements for the Leela team, including funding from the City of Austin and a partnership with Austin PBS. The concept of svadharma and how can it help us achieve the show's mission of breaking free of templates How somewhat "dodgy" questions in the foreign service application process contributed to Sharanya's disenchantment with this profession How the field of coaching, and connections formed through the International Coaching Federation (ICF) provided Sharanya with a community where people would "bring their whole self to work." Sharanya's journey into spirituality starting with her introduction to Swami Chinmayananda at the age of 14 The lifelong learnings at Chinmaya Mission in oneness / Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam / "The World Is One Family" You can connect with Sharanya via numerous channels, notably her LinkedIn profile. Vedanta is a philosophy, the Mother of all world philosophies and religions. The Bhagavad Gita is the most representative text of Vedanta, one of the most widely read books ever. We celebrate the teachings of the eminent philosopher Swami Parthasarathy (he is 96 years old) who founded the organization Vedanta Global, and who has authored numerous best sellers including Vedanta Treatise - The Eternities and the invaluable commentary on the Bhagavad Gita. We are very happy to present to you this interview with Gregor Maehle that was recorded around a year ago. Gregor’s path is a remarkable example of limitless determination to find the Truth. While not attempting to gain popularity and fame his ideas and views can be polarising, provoking and challenging. He dismisses authorities, hierarchies, guru worship and other unhealthy group dynamics. By doing so he is not only living out authentically one of the fundamental yogic attitudes of willing to know, rather than to believe, but also plays an extremely important social role that is becoming more and more scarce in today’s poisoned with political correctness world – by not sweetening up his words, pointing out things that are broken, views that are wrong and actions that are unethical he invites all of us to question our assumptions of reality, so that we can finally wake up from our ignorant slumber and experience the true joy of being. It is in sincere gratitude for his guidance on the path of Yoga that we release this interview.Show notesFirst glimpses of infinityDoer mentality, surrendering and graceWhat led Gregor to the practice of the 8-limbed YogaImmersing into teachings today vs in old timesTibetian Ngöndro, Six Yogas of Naropa, DzogchenPurification practices within the Ashtanga Yoga tradition and the mechanisms behind themWhy your meditation doesn’t workHappiness and robotic conditioningGregor’s spiritual practice and the sense of freedomBreath wavesExperience of Cosmic intelligence on different levelsThe differences and similarities of different spiritual pathsSvadharmaGregor’s observation of the modern Yoga landscapeTo find out more about Gregor’s teaching, learning materials, courses and in-depth blog article visit https://8limbs.com/Check out new book by Gregor Maehle: “How To Find Your Life’s Divine Purpose: Brain software for a new civilization”Head over to www.escaping-samsara.com to discover more episodes.Feel grateful and would like to support us?
