A Dialogue Between Vedanta and Epicureanism, with Prof. Tim O'Keefe - Episode 115

Spirituality, creativity, history, and ancient wisdom. Contact: cosmicdancerpodcast@gmail.com My Vedanta Substack: cristianoluchinivedanta.substack.com/ It was great to discuss via podcast with Dr. Jayashankar Krishnamurthy, Director of the Vedanta Institute in Hyderabad, India, and Prof. Tim O'Keefe, an expert in Hellenistic philosophies and Epicureanism, at Georgia State University in the USA. We reflected on the analogies and differences between Vedanta philosophy and Epicureanism. It's interesting to note the similarities in terms of the emphasis on the role of intellect in transcending desires and worldly attachments. The role of friendship is fundamental in Epicureanism, as it is in Vedanta through the concept of Sajjanasaṅgati, or union with the virtuous. Prof. O'Keefe explained the basic principles of Epicureanism, dispelling certain contemporary misconceptions that identify it as a form of hedonism propagated by isolated individuals, thus detached from society. Pleasure is essentially identified as the absence of pain, and inner peace (ataraxia) derived from worldly attachments, rather than a pursuit of material satisfaction. On the other hand, Dr Krishnamurthy introduced Vedanta as a philosophy that lives and permeates society, which empowers the individual and does not view them solely as a yogi meditating in the caves of the Himalayas, as the stereotypes about India often depict. Undoubtedly, there are metaphysical divergences between Vedanta and Epicureanism, where the Vedantic view of Brahman, Atman, and reality as an illusion (Maya) contrasts with the Epicurean universe composed of atoms and void, and the notion of the soul as a material and mortal element. According to Advaita Vedanta, Brahman and Atman are considered identical. Brahman represents the absolute, supreme and transcendent reality, while Atman is the individual, the inner essence of every being. The perspective of Advaita Vedanta maintains that the distinction between Brahman and Atman is illusory and that, in reality, they are the same fundamental reality. The analogy between the Epicurean notion of cultivating a stock of positive memories to be used during negative moments in life and the pratipakṣa bhavana technique in Vedanta is interesting. It leads to a more peaceful and balanced state of mind. Pratipakṣa Bhavana involves cultivating a thought or attitude opposite to the negative thoughts or emotions that arise in our mind. Of course, the podcast did not aim to cover all possible points of contact and divergence between Vedanta and Epicureanism, but I am certain that it will provide you with numerous points for reflection, as it did for me. Let me conclude with two quotes, one from the Vedas and one from Epicurus, on detachment from worldly pleasures. "One who is not disturbed in mind even amidst the threefold miseries or elated when there is happiness, and who is free from attachment, fear and anger, is called a sage of steady mind." (Bhagavad Gita, 2.56) "It is impossible to live well without living sensibly, nobly and justly; and it is impossible to live sensibly, nobly and justly without living pleasantly." (Epicurus, Letter to Menoeceus)

Spirituality, creativity, history, and ancient wisdom. Contact: cosmicdancerpodcast@gmail.com My Vedanta Substack: https://cristianoluchinivedanta.substack.com/ Podcast with Jayashankar Krishnamurthy, Director of the Vedanta Institute of Hyderabad, India. Topic: Learn, Unlearn, Relearn. "The illiterate of the 21st century will not be those who cannot read and write, but those who cannot learn, unlearn, and relearn." - Alvin Toffler Learning is an enjoyable experience when we pursue topics that genuinely interest us. Each day, we gain new insights and knowledge, though some subjects require more time and effort to master. However, the real challenge for people lies in unlearning - letting go of ingrained beliefs and habitual behaviors to make room for new ones. Unlearning is like scraping off the old paint before applying a fresh coat or clearing land to prepare the soil for new plants. The cycle of learning, unlearning, and relearning is crucial for personal growth and progress. Unlearning liberates us from harmful assumptions and negative patterns of behavior. It necessitates time and introspection. People encounter this process when transitioning to new life stages or work settings. Unlearning allows us to break free from outdated paradigms and embrace new possibilities. In new environments, people have opportunities to explore, interact, and pursue their interests. As old assumptions crumble, creativity, critical thinking, and curiosity blossom. Unlearning is key to igniting our minds and unleashing human potential. The Vedanta philosophy emphasizes that our true self (Atman) is infinite and beyond any limiting beliefs or identities. By recognizing our true nature as limitless consciousness, we can release rigid attachments to beliefs and remain open to new ideas. Vedanta teaches that the self is the impartial witness, unchanged amidst the ever-changing world. By abiding as a witness, we can adapt to change with an open and receptive mind. The "neti neti" principle encourages us to negate the limiting attributes of the world to realize our true selves. This helps us let go of preconceptions and cultivate a beginner's mind. When we reject identifying with the impermanent attributes of the body, mind, and world, we remain as open, infinite consciousness - the true self. This allows for a fresh start and new beginnings. Vedanta highlights the impermanence of the world, mind, and body. Everything in the manifested world is constantly changing. When we recognize this truth, we understand there are no rigid beliefs or ideas to cling to. We see that everything is relative and subject to change. This fosters humility, adaptability, and a willingness to release assumptions - essential qualities for continuous learning and growth. Alvin Toffler's statement holds true: in the future, illiteracy won't result from an inability to read or write but from an inability to learn, unlearn, and relearn. So let's embrace the power of unlearning and embark on a transformative journey of relearning, growth, and new discoveries.

How to stop living by expectations thanks to Vedanta teachings Guest: Jayashankar Krishnamurthy, Vedanta Institute of Hyderabad, India. The philosophy of Vedanta offers valuable insights on how to avoid expectations and illusions in everyday life. In Vedanta, it is believed that our thoughts and actions are influenced by our past experiences, which can create expectations and illusions about the future. Pratipakṣa Bhavana is a practice that helps us overcome these tendencies and cultivate a more peaceful and balanced mental state. Pratipakṣa Bhavana consists of cultivating a thought or attitude opposite to the negative thoughts or emotions that arise in our mind. For example, if we feel jealous towards someone, we can cultivate a positive thought or attitude towards that person instead of remaining focused on our negative emotions. This practice helps us develop a more balanced and detached perspective on life, allowing us to respond to situations with greater clarity and wisdom. To avoid expectations and illusions, it is also important to recognize the impermanence of all things. Vedanta teaches us that everything in the universe is subject to change and that attachment to material things and results can lead to suffering. By accepting the impermanence of life, we can free ourselves from the grip of expectations and illusions and live with greater peace and contentment. Exploring Jigyasu Bhava for Self-Discovery and Spiritual Growth. Jigyasu Bhava is a Vedanta concept referring to the attitude of a seeker or an inquiring mind that is eager to learn and discover the truth about oneself and the universe. This attitude is essential for spiritual growth and self-discovery. Jigyasu Bhava implies questioning and contemplating the nature of reality and the Self. It encourages us to seek knowledge from reliable sources and reflect on our experiences to gain a deeper understanding of ourselves and the world around us. By cultivating Jigyasu Bhava, we can free ourselves from our limited perspectives and expand our consciousness. - Here my short stories about Kindness (I giorni della gentilezza- Paperback - Italian version)- tinyurl.com/3vfud2c9 - Here my book Learn Māori Culture and Proverbs (Paperback) tinyurl.com/6zmvz9tt - Version with Full Color Images - www.amazon.com/Learn-M%C4%81ori-…1621334435&sr=8-3 - Poster Maramataka: tinyurl.com/pht4easb - Here is my book dedicated to Lo-Fi Music (ebook and paperback), tinyurl.com/r2d69dyb - on Amazon USA, UK, INDIA, JAPAN, GERMANY, BRAZIL and other countries. - Here is my book with illustrated philosophical short stories (ebook and paperback), tinyurl.com/rpcd5c - on Amazon USA, UK, INDIA, JAPAN, GERMANY, BRAZIL and other countries. - Here is my book Black Book Note www.amazon.com/BLACK-BOOK-NOTE-i…32&s=books&sr=1-1 - Here is my journal dedicated to the great Italian poet Dante Alighieri tinyurl.com/42rt7jjh. - E-book and Video on www.lofimusic.it. - Here is my fashion brand dedicated to Spirituality, https://www.redbubble.com/people/Mantra-tshirt/shop

Transferring Sat-Cit-Ananda: Vedanta's Take on Spirit and Matter. Guest: Jayashankar Krishnamurthy, Vedanta Institute of Hyderabad, India. Iron ball is black in colour and cold to the touch; fire is golden in colour and hot. The colour and the heat of fire penetrate the iron ball when it comes in contact with the fire for a sufficiently long time. So too, when inert and insentient matter is presided over by the Spirit, the Sat-Cit-Ᾱnanda nature of the Spirit gets transferred on to the matter. 1. In Vedanta, what is the significance of the contrast between the black, cold iron ball and the golden, hot fire in the context of understanding the transfer of the Sat-Cit-Ananda nature of the Spirit onto inert matter? 2. Originating from the idea of emptiness or space, "Ma" permeates various forms of art in Korea, including music, painting, poetry, and dance. The philosophical foundation of "Ma". The philosophy of "Ma" is deeply rooted in Korean culture, drawing from Buddhist, Confucian, and Taoist thought. At its core, "Ma" represents the idea that emptiness is not an absence or lack of something, but rather a presence that can be utilized to create emotional tension, balance, and harmony. This concept is closely related to the Korean belief in the interconnectedness of all things and the importance of finding equilibrium in life.

What is the significance of the Mahavkyas in Vedanta philosophy? 2. How can we apply the teachings of the Mahavkyas in our daily lives? 3. How do the teachings of the Mahavkyas and Neti Neti complement each other in Vedanta philosophy? Mahavakyas are sacred statements or great sayings from the Upanishads, which are Hindu philosophical texts. They are meant to convey the ultimate truth or reality about the universe and the individual's relationship with it. "Neti neti" is a Sanskrit phrase that means "not this, not this." It is a way of negating all concepts and attributes in order to arrive at the ultimate truth, which is beyond any description or definition. This approach is often used in Advaita Vedanta, a school of Hindu philosophy, to help individuals realize their true nature as pure consciousness, beyond the limitations of the mind and ego.

This is through the involvement of guests from the world of music, art, literature, science, etc... Topic: Discussing the Divine Comedy and Bhagavad Gita. Guests: William Franke and Jayashankar Krishnamurty. William Franke is an American academic and philosopher, a professor of Comparative Literature at Vanderbilt University. The main exposition of his philosophical thinking is A Philosophy of the Unsayable (2014), a book which dwells on the limits of language in order to open thought to the inconceivable. On this basis, the discourses of myth, mysticism, metaphysics, and the arts take on new and previously unsuspected types of meaning. Franke holds degrees in philosophy and theology from Williams College and Oxford University and in comparative literature from UC Berkeley and Stanford (PhD 1991). He lectures and teaches in English, German, French, and Italian. He is a member of "HolyLit: Religion and Literature," of the Freie Universität Berlin and Harvard University and has been a member of the Dante Society Executive Council by the general election of the Dante Society of America. Franke's philosophical work intertwines with his production as a theorist in comparative literature. His interdisciplinary approach focuses on Dante's Divine Comedy read as a theological revelation in poetic language. Jayashankar Krishnamurty: A senior disciple of Swami Parthasarathy, is a graduate of science from the University of Madras and a postgraduate in Packaging Technology from Mumbai. He had a distinguished corporate career. Seeking answers to questions pertaining to life and living he sought the guidance of his guru and spent four years full-time at Vedanta Academy. For over two decades he has been researching and propagating the knowledge of Vedanta, in Telangana State, through Swamiji's publications. He is the Executive Trustee of Vedanta Institute Hyderabad, a Charitable Trust registered in Telangana (Formerly Andhra Pradesh). Divine Comedy and Bhagavad Gita. Two extraordinary works. The first dates back to 1300 AD and the other probably to 10,000 BC but united by numerous aspects. One above all: the earthly path towards the divine, the evolution of the two protagonists, Arjuna and Dante, in the direction of love. This is thanks to the wisdom and support of two extraordinary guides: Krishna in the Bhagavad Gita and Virgil in the Divine Comedy. The "dialogue" that exists between these extraordinary works of the perennial philosophy, thousands of years and miles apart, is incredible. The two great protagonists Dante and Arjuna are two great personalities, one Prior of the very rich city of Florence, the other an important warrior prince of the Pandavas. Dante and Arjuna receive teachings to be practically experienced through love. They will discover that everything is driven by love and that it will always save us even in the darkest moments of our lives. Love will always win over darkness. In each, during their respective inner journeys, the concepts of justice, peace, freedom, dharma, of doing one's duty for the benefit of all are instilled. Dante and Arjuna in dismay prepare for war and struggle to emerge from the darkness of consciousness and enter the light.

Vedanta is a philosophy, the Mother of all world philosophies and religions. The Bhagavad Gita is the most representative text of Vedanta, one of the most widely read books ever. We celebrate the teachings of the eminent philosopher Swami Parthasarathy (he is 96 years old) who founded the organization Vedanta Global, and who has authored numerous best sellers including Vedanta Treatise - The Eternities and the invaluable commentary on the Bhagavad Gita. Topic: Discussing on Vedanta , Ahimsa (non-violence), in the Bible (Plagues of Egypt) and the Bhagavad Gita. Guest: the Vedanta teacher S. A. Shreedaran, founder of Mind and Intellect Organization. Ahimsa (non-injury) in its spiritual scope means never having cruel intentions. Non-injury is the spirit that should dominate all our motivations. Our intentions should not be polluted by even a trace of cruelty or hatred. Non-injury is not so much about never causing physical injury to any being as it is about never contemplating harming any living creature. Physically, not hurting is impossible. In order to continue living, some kind of physical harm is unavoidable. However, even if we create unavoidable disturbances around us, if our motives are pure and clean, the harm thus caused is not considered an injury. To best understand in concept of Ahimsa, one must read carefully this story from the Sufi Tradition: "A Sufi soldier was in the middle of a battle. It was a hand-to-hand combat. He skillfully fought the enemy with his dagger. He soon knocked the enemy to the ground and sat astride his chest, raising his hand to drop the dagger. The enemy, in his helpless rage, spat in the face of the Sufi soldier. The Sufi soldier's hand remained suspended in mid-stride and did not strike. "What are you waiting for?" said the fallen enemy. "I am totally under your power. Go ahead, kill me!" The Sufi soldier replied: "I can't. I was doing my duty and you were doing yours. I don't know you and you don't know me. Now you introduced a personal note by spitting at me in anger and I got angry. Now killing you will not be an act of duty, but murder." What Arjuna is taught in the Bhagavad Gita is the essence of all Eastern martial arts, where one is trained to strike the opponent, but within oneself one remains in the center of stillness. They are told to kill but not to not commit murder. This is ahimsa on the battlefield. This is the resolution of the Bhagavad Gita's "koan" of nonviolence. What Pharaoh is to learn from the plagues is not just that God can send them, but that he removes them completely when asked (8:14-15 [10-11]; 9:29) and that he exempts his people from them (8:22-23 [18-19]; 11:7). Combining this with the fact that God starts with lesser plagues (or signs) and only moves to more destructive plagues shows a God who uses power far more carefully than Pharaoh does. He has sustained Pharaoh and Egypt to show them (and the world) that he is a different master to Pharaoh. This is even clearer for Israel. The exodus is not freedom in the sense of autonomy but rather a change of masters (‘Let my people go so that they may serve me'). Pharaoh's mastery leads to suffering and death. God's mastery leads to life in all its fullness (6:6-8).

Topic: Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, young football (soccer) champion of SSC Napoli, between literature and philosophy. Guest, the Vedanta teacher S.A. Shreedaran of Mind and Intellect Organization. For me, this young talent is the human representation of Grigol Robakidze's book The Snake's Skin. Here the article: https://tinyurl.com/pw3mt6mt Without forcing analogies, I like to think that the young Khvicha Kvaratskhelia who has arrived in Italy as an illustrious stranger, from a country like Georgia that is generally little known but rich in culture and traditions, is the human representation of Robakidze's book The Snake's Skin; a man travelling from distant (but ever closer) Eastern Europe, who sees himself in the astonished eyes of the people of Naples, in a new, exotic, classically ancient, Spanish and Oriental land, who has already begun to love him. A man who does not have to set aside his past, but who must get rid of the evocative one of the 'last of the class, half-known and mistreated', referring to his Georgia for years under the yoke of the Soviet Union. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, just like the snake often evoked in Robakidze's book, is changing skin, and rather quickly. A soft, scaly skin, characterised by numerous patterns, which seem to be representative of the endless imagination of the Georgian footballer with the ball between his feet. And so run boy, continue on your way, be strong, be free, simply be... Kvicha. - Join my Facebook Group Meditation Mindfulness Yoga Mantra www.facebook.com/groups/642191676459430 - Here my short stories about Kindness (I giorni della gentilezza- Paperback - Italian version)- tinyurl.com/3vfud2c9 - Here my book Learn Māori Culture and Proverbs (paperback) tinyurl.com/6zmvz9tt - Version with Full Color Images - www.amazon.com/Learn-M%C4%81ori-…1621334435&sr=8-3 - Poster Maramataka: tinyurl.com/pht4easb - Here my book dedicated to Lo-Fi Music (ebook and paperback), tinyurl.com/r2d69dyb - on Amazon USA, UK, INDIA, JAPAN, GERMANY, BRAZIL and other countries. - Here my book with illustrated philosophical short stories (ebook and paperback), tinyurl.com/rpcd5c - on Amazon USA, UK, INDIA, JAPAN, GERMANY, BRAZIL and other countries. - Here my book Black Book Note www.amazon.com/BLACK-BOOK-NOTE-i…32&s=books&sr=1-1 - Here my journal dedicated to the great italian poet Dante Alighieri tinyurl.com/42rt7jjh. - E-book and Video on www.lofimusic.it. - Here my fashion brand dedicated to Spirituality, https://www.redbubble.com/people/Mantra-tshirt/shop

Topic: Discussing Vedanta , MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) and Ahimsa (non-violence), quoting the Bhagavad Gita, with strong Italian fighter of Albanian descent, Leon Aliu. MMA is a combat sport that takes its name from the English acronym Mixed Martial Arts, which means mixed martial arts. It is a discipline in which the two combatants can use any technique possible to defeat each other and which fuses the movements of Judo, karate, Muay Thai, boxing, wrestling, grappling and kickboxing. Leon Aliu is a strong MMA fighter of Albanian descent who lives and trains in Reggio Emilia with the coach Alessandro Iacono, is coming off a major win in the main event of Cage Warriors 138. There, the middleweight put on a masterful performance by knocking out James Webb in less than two minutes in front of his home crowd. Such a victory drew interest in Aliu and UFC - Ultimate Fighting Championship president Dana White decided to provide him with the chance of a lifetime. He will have an important fight to face in Las Vegas next September 20 against Brazilian fighter Bruno Ferreira.

Vedanta, Metaverse and Intellect. Metaverse is a virtual-reality space in which users can interact with a computer-generated environment and other users. Could a Metaverse be a tool of knowledge, known factor, useful in knowing what is unknown? According to Vedanta's most representative text, the Bhagavad Gita, known factors alone can describe an unknown factor. Could Metaverse be a great opportunity for our intellect, useful for understanding the concept of Maya (illusory reality in which we live and that we consider reality), liquefying the Ego in the infinite virtual amnion? Whatever you approach in life, be it the Metaverse, sports, philosophy, art, spirituality, do it using your own intellect, without passively inheriting pre-packaged concepts worked out by other people. Intellect is not "copy and paste". I spoke about Vedanta, Metaverse and Intellect with Jayashankar Krishnamurty and Nova Lorraine. Jayashankar, Vedanta teacher, is a disciple of the eminent Vedanta Philosopher Swami Parthasarathy and Director of the Vedanta Institute of Hyderabad, India. Nova is a multifaceted professional in the field of communication. She is an expert and explorer of the Metaverse: "I am a poet and a lover of language. I am intrigued by the power of communication, may it be through the written word, textiles, color, shape, or music. Due to my academic training, I understand that we each take in environmental cues differently. We also develop individual languages to express ourselves to our tribe, industry, or culture. Knowing this, I enjoy shaping stories to fit multiple mediums while creating impact strategies based on the principals of design and psychology." Preamble: "The faculty to think, to reason is a human prerogative. All other beings lack this faculty since they do not possess an intellect. The intellect renders a human being the chef d'œuvre of creation. But the world is unaware of this unique status. And people do not care to develop this life- saving, life-sustaining, life-surpassing equipment, the intellect. Also you fail to realise that thinking, reasoning is skilled work. That you need to learn and practise. Like playing the violin or golf. You believe that thinking is a natural process like seeing, hearing or breathing. That you can think clearly, precisely without putting in the necessary effort on your part. You must understand that to develop the faculty of thinking, reasoning you need to devote as much time and effort to it as you would to learning any other art or skill." Could Metaverse be a great opportunity for our intellect, useful for understanding the concept of Maya (illusory reality in which we live and that we consider reality), liquefying the Ego in the infinite virtual amnion? I spoke with the Vedanta philosopher Akhandadhi Das about Vedanta, Metaverse and Spirituality; he is director of Buckland Hall, a conference and retreat center in Wales, a member of the Science and Philosophy Initiative, and a broadcaster and BBC consultant on Indian philosophical and spiritual traditions. Preamble: Bhagavad Gita commented by Swami Parthasarathy Chapter 11: The Yoga of Vision of the Cosmic Form 40. Salutation to You before and behind, indeed salutation to You on all sides, O All! Infinite in power, infinite in strength, You complete all, wherefore You are all. "Struck with wonder by the colossal vision of the Lord, Arjuna finds himself speechless. He salutes Him on all sides. Arjuna describes God as ‘All' with infinite power and infinite strength, pervading everywhere. But the human intellect fails to comprehend this description since it cannot conceive infinity. Yet, Arjuna uses these terms liberally. He neither understands God himself nor do others understand God through his description. The reason being that knowledge proceeds from the known to the unknown. Known factors alone can describe an unknown factor. Any number of unknown factors cannot help one understand the unknown. God is unknown. Infinity also is unknown. To describe the unknown God with unknown infinite terms is like the blind leading the blind. In striking contrast to Arjuna's description of God, the ṛṣi (sage) in the Kenopaniṣad uses known factors such as eyes, ears and mind to describe God. He indicates God as the Seer in the eye. Hearer in the ear. Feeler in the mind. These known factors aid a seeker's contemplation. A pragmatic approach to God. Arjuna is unaware of the fundamental principle of education that knowledge proceeds from the known to the unknown. He, therefore, speaks of God eloquently in infinite terms." - Join my Facebook Group Meditation Mindfulness Yoga Mantra www.facebook.com/groups/642191676459430

A couple of days ago I found an article about how snowflakes are unique and all different. This fact that snowflakes have "infinite faces" reminded me to Chapter 11 of Bhagavad Gita in which Krishna reveals his cosmic form(Vishwarup) to Arjun. Arjun sees the entire creation in the body of the God of gods with unlimited arms, faces, and stomachs. It has no beginning or end and extends immeasurably in all directions. His radiance is similar to a thousand suns blazing together in the sky Scientists say the chances of two snowflakes being exactly alike are about 1 in 1 million trillion. That's a one followed by 18 zeros, so it's very unlikely! Meteorologists think there are 1 trillion, trillion, trillion (a one with 36 zeros!) types of snowflakes. A snowflake has three basic ingredients: ice crystals, water vapor, and dust. The ice crystals form as water vapor freezes on a tiny piece of dust. The dust particles come from many places. It could be from flower pollen, volcanic ash, or even meteors. "Viśvatomukham means ‘with faces on all sides'. A poetic expression used in the śāstras (scripture) to indicate the all-pervading nature of God. "He who recognises the supreme Self in the manifold beings is endowed with Jñānacakṣu, Eye of Wisdom. With this divine eye he perceives the Supreme." Happiness in the reverberating cowbells of a herd of oxen, in Molise, Italy - Episode 74

Over the past few days I have been working on a tourism report among nature, relaxation and wellness in the beautiful Molise region of Italy. The work will be published soon at www.crono.news. After visiting the Lake of Castel San Vincenzo - in Molise region - Italy, in an enchanting setting that has nothing to envy Lake Tiberias in Galilee, it was thrilling to drive to the Valle Fiorita Plateau at an altitude of 1,500 meters, after no less than 20 tricky switchbacks. It was like being in a Sergio Leone's spaghetti western, with about 40 head of cattle including cows, bulls and horses grazing in the blinding green vegetation on the slopes of the majestic Molise Mainarde mountain range. The animals watched me curiously, and I will not deny that this frightened me. So did I, attracted by the hypnotic sound of their cowbells reverberating among the great spaces, like a celestial orchestra. I could not help but think of one of my favorite Indian Ragas, the Ahir Bhairav. It is a morning Raga, and since the word "Ahirs" means herdsmen and milkmen, this Raga evolved from the tinkling of cow bells in the early morning as they are being milked. Although I had my Rav Vast Drum with me, capable of producing equally dulcet sounds, I preferred not to alter the harmony that reigned around me. https://ravvast.com/ I hope you will sense the excitement in my voice as I was experiencing that moment full of joy and surprise. https://www.visitmolise.eu/. Over the past few days I have been working on a tourism report among nature, relaxation and wellness in the beautiful Molise region of Italy. The work will be published soon at www.crono.news. This is a region little traveled by mass tourist itineraries, is that it deserves to be known for its great natural, artistic, archaeological, food and wine riches, etc... Molise is rich in water thanks to the presence of the Volturno River, but also wonderful lakes such as Lake Castel San Vincenzo and the wonderful Volturno Falls - Cascate del Volturno - under which I recorded this podcast. It was wonderful to play my RAV VAST drum in the presence of the imposing waterfall. These are unique sensations that are difficult to describe in words. https://ravvast.com/ Coming back to Molise, you should know that it is a wonderful constellation of villages, all to be discovered, by us shepherds of the cosmos, curious Mumukshu, always in search of beauty and truth. So all you have to do is google Molise and plan your trip to the authenticity of this little Nepal of the Italian peninsula. https://www.visitmolise.eu/ I experienced this journey with increasing utsāha, a Sanskrit term that Swami Parthasarathy, explains in his commentary on the Bhagavad Gita - Chapter 18 as follows: "A sattvika actor possesses two essential qualities of perfection. Dhṛti steadfastness and utsāha enthusiasm. Dhṛti is consistency of purpose. Necessary for the completion of action. Utsāha is an energetic and enthusiastic attitude toward the action taken. A sāttvika actor possesses these qualities because of his high ideal in life. When an 'action is perfect success inevitably follows. A sāttvika actor understands this truth. He performs his obligatory duty to the best of his ability. With little interest in the result of the action. In this way he maintains indifference to success or failure." Reading Swami Vivekananda always made me think about the freedom of everyone to express their inner universe. That is why in this episode I celebrate a small but salient passage from his book "Practical Vedanta," hoping that it will be as inspiring to you as it was to me. I want to thank the RAV VAST brand, which was among the first to support the first steps of this new podcast series devoted to Vedanta philosophy. The RAV Vast is a metal drum with perfectly cut steel tongues and a unique and deep sound. It's an instrument gives an easy access to creating music to everyone. It gives vent to creativity and therefore elevates the spirit, helping us to express ourselves in total freedom. I received a RAV VAST tank drum 4 days ago. It has brought me much joy, inspiration and relaxation. I hope you will appreciate my first composition which I offer at the end of this podcast. It is the result of a serene, free, almost childlike spirit that has forgotten everything in the time spent learning about the instrument. https://ravvast.com/ "The Vedanta teaches men to have faith in themselves first. As certain religions of the world say that a man who does not believe in a Personal God outside of himself is an atheist, so the Vedanta says, a man who does not believe in himself is an atheist. Not believing in the glory of our own soul is what the Vedanta calls atheism. To many this is, no doubt, a terrible idea; and most of us think that this ideal can never be reached; but the Vedanta insists that it can be realised by every one." - Join my Facebook Group Meditation Mindfulness Yoga Mantra www.facebook.com/groups/642191676459430 - Here my short stories about Kindness (I giorni della gentilezza- Paperback - Italian version)- tinyurl.com/3vfud2c9 - Here my book Learn Māori Culture and Proverbs (paperback) tinyurl.com/6zmvz9tt - Version with Full Color Images - www.amazon.com/Learn-M%C4%81ori-…1621334435&sr=8-3 - Poster Maramataka: tinyurl.com/pht4easb - Here my book dedicated to Lo-Fi Music (ebook and paperback), tinyurl.com/r2d69dyb - on Amazon USA, UK, INDIA, JAPAN, GERMANY, BRAZIL and other countries. - Here my fashion brand dedicated to Spirituality, www.mantratshirt.it.

Guest: S.A.Sreedaran, Vedanta teacher in Dubai, founder of Mind and Intellect. He studied at the Vedanta Academy of the eminent philosopher Swami Parthasarathy. Guest: David Engel, professional actor and experienced clown therapist. "Karma yoga is the path of righteous action. The path that culminates in Self-unfoldment. That leads to realisation of the supreme state of human existence. If a person reaches the very end of this righteous path he gains the ultimate experience. But when he fails to complete this path, even then there can be no effort wasted nor can any adverse result accrue from it. Furthermore, even a little progress on this path protects him from fear. All human activities fall broadly under three categories: 1. Actions performed with selfish and egocentric desires. 2. Actions performed with unselfish desires. 3. Actions performed without desires. Karma yoga in its purest form falls under the third category. It envisages actions fully dedicated to Self-realisation, free from all desires and expectations. Actions performed with a perfect sense of detachment. A karma yogī commands enormous power and derives supreme happiness. He is rid of all fears that plague human existence. "(A. Parthasarathy) "The profession of Therapeutic Clowning is an arts‐based practice typically in healthcare settings with children, adults or elders. It is designed to reduce stress, restore a sense of control and dignity, and celebrate the personhood of each individual regardless of their physical or cognitive limitations. Working in pairs using imaginative play, improvisation and music, the Therapeutic Clowns bring connectivity, lightness and joy in a place where sadness, trauma and boredom often reside. In most settings, they regularly partner with staff/clinicians as needed to provide playful diversion during medical procedures and aid various therapists to help clients achieve a better quality of life through directive or non-directive techniques. This is an evidence-based practice. The Therapeutic Clowns play a key role in bridging relationships between family members and their loved one. Art lover, beauty lover, Gorazd makes his creativity vibrate in every fold of the wood he works by hand to produce his cajón. Colorful and high quality products. Precious woods such as oak and mango constitute the production path that goes from the felling of the tree to the finished product, that is a Markovic Design branded cajón. Gorazd donated to me a Woody Cajón, beautiful to look at and fun to play. Warm, round, mellow sounds characterize this instrument which, like other Cajón by Markovic Design, has the particularity of having the Switch function to pass from the classic drum sound, with kick and snare, to a typical African bongo sound. A professional quality instrument, suitable for even the most demanding musicians that I am sure you will love. Mya, Gorazd's sweet and self-confident daughter, gave me invaluable help in this interview, helping with the translation from Slovenian to English. I wish Gorazd Markovic great successes, convinced that love, passion and the search for beauty in what you do are always rewarding. This is through the involvement of guests from the world of music, art, literature, science, etc... Meaning of Om: between Vedanta and Handpan. Podcast interview with Master Vedanta Bhaskar Ramachandran and renowned handpan player Davide Swarup. Meaning of Om.The word Om seems to have originated in the Mandukya Upanishad, part of a collection of ancient texts exploring the philosophical concepts of Hinduism. It is said that "Om is what has been, what is, and what will be." Om represents everything: the beginning, middle and end, the past, present and future. It encompasses all sounds: man, nature... it is the hum of the earth. OM is both a visual symbol and a sacred sound or mantra that can be heard and uttered. The syllable is composed of the three sounds 'A', 'U' and 'M' - AUM. 'A'. The 'ah' sound represents the beginning: the creation of the universe and all that it contains. It is said to symbolize the "conscious or waking state". Hindu tradition associates the sound with Brahma, the Creator. The sound originates in the belly and vibrates in the upper chest. Hold the tongue in the lower part of the mouth and spread the lips to create a feeling of openness. 'U' (a prolonged "oooh" sound). This sound indicates the stability that carries you forward and the energy that preserves and sustains you and the world. It is associated with the Hindu god, Vishnu - the Preserver. From the "A" sound, the lips begin to move together and the sound gradually progresses, rolling down the upper palate and vibrating in the throat. 'M' ("mmmm" sound). This represents the sound of closure and the beginning of the end and is associated with Shiva. Shiva is often known as the "destroyer," but also the force of culmination, completion, and finalization. When we form the sound, we move the tongue to the top of the mouth and bring the lips together to create a prolonged hum. Between Vedanta philosophy and Handpan. Bhaskar Ramachandran is an acclaimed exponent of the dynamic philosophy of Vedanta in the UK. "And sound is the subtlest of all idols because of its proximity to Brahman (God). It is considered the closest perceptible thing to Brahman because only a sense organ can contact it. The word Brahman or sound Brahman serves as an idol to attain the ideal. 'To go beyond the word-Brahman' therefore means to attain Brahman. Only by that previous practice, it is irresistibly borne. Even desiring to know yoga, it goes beyond śabdabrahma (word-Brahman)." (A. Parthasarathy - Bhagavad Gita) Handpan and soul. It is often said that David Swarup is a "soul player." As one of the most highly regarded handpan musicians in the world, he inspires and sweeps the mind away from thoughts or mental mechanisms. Listening to his melodies is a way to meditate. Davide himself plays in a meditative state, letting the music come to him, without ego or any kind of control interfering. - Join my Facebook Group Meditation Mindfulness Yoga Mantra www.facebook.com/groups/642191676459430 - Here my short stories about Kindness (I giorni della gentilezza- Paperback - Italian version)- tinyurl.com/3vfud2c9 - Here my book Learn Māori Culture and Proverbs (paperback) tinyurl.com/6zmvz9tt - Version with Full Color Images - www.amazon.com/Learn-M%C4%81ori-…1621334435&sr=8-3 - Poster Maramataka: tinyurl.com/pht4easb - Here my fashion brand dedicated to Spirituality, www.mantratshirt.it.

Very comfortable to carry with you even in its practical and colorful bag, this little gem is compatible with the best professional music creation software . Whether you are totally alien to the world of music or rather experienced, the PopuPiano will lend itself to use by any audience. In addition, interactive in-app tutorials are available , (available both on the Android Play Store and the App Store), which will help us embark on or simply deepen our beautiful musical journey. PopuPiano Smart Portable Piano will be launched worldwide in April on the Indiegogo website. As a neophyte of the piano, but as an expert GarageBand user, I found it really useful and simple to interface the PopuPiano via Bluetooth with both Macs , smartphones and tablets.  I also found the in-app teaching and LED visual guidance with real-time feedback to be very convenient. It helps to be nimble with your fingers. The guide also invites us step by step to learn to play, without ever taking away space for fun. The keyboard is also expandable and can be transformed into a classic E-keyboard . This little gem never ceases to surprise. This exciting and colorful instrument can surely become a bridge to connect the human visual instinct and the understanding of music. Special mention, moreover, for the avalanche of free tutorials and hundreds of sounds of various musical instruments, present in the official PopuMusic APP for musical composition . Believe me, between one beat and another, your adrenaline will undergo a whirlwind surge. Guessed is the idea of the compact chord pad, which completes the PopuPiano. In addition to its small size , it is good to underline the fact that it helps to easily become familiar with the most used chords. In fact, they can be performed with the left hand, usually the laziest one, and progress quickly.  People, what else to add, I found the PopuPiano really well done and then it's really Zen playing it in the dim light of my room. How nice to be pampered by the multicolored and bright whiteness of the keys. It is a welcoming, serene, reassuring technological experience. A real must for all music lovers. Music and spirituality. Music has transformed the most mundane and difficult moments of my life into deeply inspiring and often indescribably divine human experiences. The PopuPiano could definitely become one of my favorite instruments along with my beloved Ukulele ( Populele ) and Tongue Drum . This exciting and colorful instrument will certainly be able to act as a bridge, to connect the human visual instinct and the understanding of music. The gift of music. Whatever meaning you choose for spirituality, I believe there are direct correlations with each in the nature of music. Music is essential to human life and an integral part of our development as individuals and as a species. Like breathing, music has rhythm , tension and release. It could also be said that the sound of the breath or the waves of the ocean are musical expressions of life.  Few things in life have the ability to directly shape or change our emotional state with respect to music. So today more than ever choose a musical instrument, play , always be inspired and may the PopuPiano bring you so much relax joy and fun! He has dedicated his life to the study, teaching and advancement of the knowledge. Based in UK he is the managing trustee of the Vedanta Institute London. Bhaskarji, as he is popularly known, is a senior disciple of the eminent philosopher A. Parthasarathy. After a promising career in the Merchant Navy he joined the 3-year residential course at the Vedanta Academy in India. Since graduating he has been studying and teaching Vedanta for over 25 years vedanta.org.uk. The philosophy of Vedanta teaches the presence of divinity in every being: the real nature of man and the entire universe is divine. The purpose of human life is to develop and manifest this divine nature. The different religions in the world constitute many paths to that realization. Unity in diversity is the immortal theme of Vedanta. What are Vasanas? Vasanas are habits and patterns of thought. They can be ‘positive' or ‘negative' in nature; or it might be better to term them ‘healthy' or ‘unhealthy'. Healthy vasanas are those habits and patterns of thought and behaviour that have a beneficial effect on the mind and body; which bring peace, harmony and balance. Examples might include a commitment to self-inquiry, study of the scriptures, meditation, yoga, good eating, the steady practice of karma yoga and the ability to question and reframe agitating thoughts. Unhealthy vasanas are those compulsions, addictions and self-destructive patterns of thought and behaviour that have a deleterious effect on the mind and body — of which there are too many to mention. Mind management is an essential component of Vedanta because, as Krishna states in the Bhagavad Gita: “Without a peaceful, stable mind, contemplation on the Self is impossible. When one lacks the ability to contemplate, there is no peace. Without peace, how can there be happiness?” The mind is our primary instrument for transacting with the world. Just as a grime-covered miror cannot reflect the sunlight, a dull or agitated mind is an unfit receptacle for the liberating light of Self-knowledge. That's why Vedanta repeatedly emphasises the necessity of a qualified mind. In order for Self-knowledge to equate to liberation, the student's mind must be reasonably tranquil, discerning, dispassionate and free from the relentless storm and stress of excess desire, aversion and attachment. - Here my fashion brand dedicated to Spirituality, www.mantratshirt.it.

Peace! https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=5E6WCP8KAS4NG There is a term anyone studying Ukrainian icons should know. In ukrainian it is Bohomaz. The common translation of bohomazy  is "those who draw God ". Although it is sometimes used (rather lightly) by icon painters in general, it has come to be applied more specifically to painters with no professional training, "self-taught" artists. The centers of popular iconography began to appear and develop in the 17th-18th centuries. In general, more than fifty centers of popular iconography already existed in the 19th century. And although such icons were banned by censorship, the process of painting and selling popular images was difficult to stop. Bohomazy, in the context of the modern study of icons, generally refers to “folk” or “village” icon painters who did not work in professional studios and were probably not even full-time painters. Instead they were often workers in other crafts such as carpentry or blacksmithing. They painted icons in their spare time to earn some extra cash. The  bohomazy  did not paint for a rich, high-class market or sophisticated clients. Their art was at the service of ordinary people, for peasants with little money who, however, wanted to have an icon. The folk icon is a special spiritual-sacred and artistic phenomenon in Ukrainian culture. Such icons reflected popular mentality and folklore. The saints in these " images " are rarely severe and ascetic ; on the contrary, their faces are kind and joyful , often with a flashy smile. This style harmoniously adapted to the home environment and the "images" were closer to ordinary people. Icons played an important role in the life of peasants and their presence was necessary in the most important events of human life: births, weddings and funerals. Folk icons were an integral part of the interior of the Ukrainian house. The icons performed both a religious and a decorative function in the house. People called them "gods" or "images". Traditionally, the house had six to ten icons. Wealthier owners may have more. Then they were hung on the walls. - Here my fashion brand dedicated to Spirituality, www.mantratshirt.it.

In the discharge of our worldly duty, we will have to encounter all kinds of likeable and unlikeable situations. We must practice neither to yearn for the likeable situations, nor to avoid the unlikeable situations. When we stop being slaves of both the likes and dislikes of the mind and senses, we will overcome our lower nature. And when we become indifferent to both pleasure and pain in the discharge of our duty, we will become truly free to act from our higher nature. If you want to live life in a meaningful and prosperous way, the Bhagavad Gita is a must to read and learn from, regardless of one's religion or faith. This is because it goes beyond things that go far beyond such man-made discrimination. Swami Parthasarathy greatly simplifies complex learning by making it accessible. Among the various Theories of Everything developed by physicists, the idea of the universe as a hologram hologram is one of the most fascinating ever proposed, being full of implications ranging from physics to life, from consciousness to cosmology. In the 1980 essay Wholeness and the Implicate Order, the American physicist David Bohm speaks of an implicit order underlying the reality we perceive, functioning as a hologram in which it structures. general is identifiable in every single part. The universe is described by Bohm with the term Holomovement, a neologism that combines the principle of the undivided totality (all is one) of the hologram with the idea that everything is in constant motion. In Bohm's hologram each particle is not separate but is part of a dynamic wholeness that connects it with all the rest, in a state of constant process similar to the turbulence of a current. In a holographic view of the universe, human action is also part of wider processes of transformation of reality, not separated from the natural context, entering the cosmic flow as a geophysical force acting on a large scale. In recent years, the relationship between climate change and anthropogenic activities has led to a greater awareness of the substantial unity between man and the environment, connected parts of a single shared system, in which every action has implications even at a considerable distance. The hidden order defined by Bohm and the scheme underlying the manifestations that we read as separate and accidental are connected both to the universe and to human individuality, in the intimate correlation between the particular and the wholeness relative to the functioning of this theoretical hologram. In the scenario proposed by Bohm, the information of the main image is contained in all its parts. All the constituent parts of what we call reality are linked in an interconnected process that involves all elements of it in shared flows, eddies and ripples that are constantly moving in the cosmic hologram. “The real order itself (Implicate Order) was recorded in the complex movement of electromagnetic fields, in the form of light waves. This movement of light waves is present everywhere and in principle envelops the entire universe of space and time in every region. This folding and unfolding takes place not only in the movement of the electromagnetic field but also in that of other fields (electronic, proton, etc.) (...) The totality of the winding and unfolding movement can go immensely beyond what has been revealed. to our observations. We call this totality by the name Holomovement . " (David Bohm) Find out what CBD and cannabinoids are. Anyone who has visited Bali knows that this small island has something special that goes far beyond the kind people, the fascinating culture and the spectacular nature. Bali is the spiritual center of Indonesia. Almost 90 percent of the population is Hindu and religion is deeply rooted at the heart of daily life. Bali is one of the world's liveliest centers for spirituality and self-discovery and, in turn, tends to attract some people interested in healing, yoga , meditation , consciousness and transformation. But what is it in Bali that drives this powerful energy? You may have already heard of the word Chakra . There are 7 main chakras in the human body . These chakras are essentially energy centers that keep us healthy and balanced physically, mentally and emotionally. The 7 chakras run along the spine to the top of the head and are responsible for specific functions of our physical and auric body. Just as we have our energy centers or chakras, Mother Earth also has hers. Along with the Chakras , there are also eddies around the Earth . These vortices are similar to chakra points in that they are places of high energy and transformation. They are also intense points that can amplify the emotions you may be feeling. They connect with the chakra points, working together to form the energy grid of the Earth. The island of Bali is a vortex of energy which is also the home of the earth's Kundalini energy , formed by its two large intersecting Ley Lines which have great power and energy. This center is thought to purify the blood of the Earth, and thus also in the purification and rejuvenation of our soul and body. Bali is essentially the " World Purification Center ", the place where the planet's energy is cleaned. You can experience a retreat or visit Bali in search of a spiritual or transformative experience. In this case, you may want to visit some of these sacred places or experience a Balinese ceremony or Balinese healing session . Even if you don't travel with the intention of immersing yourself in the spiritual elements of Bali, chances are you will still feel the beautiful energy and power of the island in one way or another. You may leave Bali feeling like a whole new person. However, you may experience changes later after you return home. As human beings, we were created to constantly evolve. When we avoid the transition out of fear or discomfort, we stagnate and tend to feel out of balance or out of alignment. Welcoming and embracing change is surprisingly liberating and allows us to continue moving into the next version of ourselves. Peace! https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=5E6WCP8KAS4NG Let's focus on the Latin expression: "Nulla dies sine linea". Literally translated, it means "no day without a line". The great Pliny the Elser  writes it, in his “Natural History”, in chapter 35. The phrase refers to the well-known painter Apelles who, over two thousand years ago, did not let a day pass without drawing a line with a brush. In the common sense, this Latin phrase therefore has the following meaning: the need for daily, constant and concrete exercise, in order to progress. An invitation that is valid for any human activity, and gives meaning to the whole existence. It is necessary that every day of one's own has a meaning. Having a project, a goal, giving meaning to things to do, means giving a plastic and precise dimension to one's life. Each of us is not fully aware of our potential and limitations. Only by giving vent to our secret but pulsating intentions, can we go further, and achieve our goals. It is essential to try, to participate, to face new tests. What you choose to do must be faced with love, attention, professionalism, seriousness and commitment. Continuity is the key to everything. Also be careful, never fall in love with what you do. The Narcissus who lives in each of us would laugh at it. Peace! https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=5E6WCP8KAS4NG #Podcast #Mother is a word shared in all languages, identifying the creature from which we are born. In #Sanskrit we find a scientific explanation for the word "Mother" matr (मातृ), it is based on "agglomerations of syllables" which, when combined, express meanings as precise as they are fascinating. 'Ma' is a root of the Sanskrit language whose meaning is what is' limited 'what can be measured 'and what is governed by time. It expands to become 'matra 'whose meaning is' unity of measure '' and 'unit of time' and this is seen within #European languages as a 'meter' which forms the metric system of weights and measures. 'Tr' is a stem that forms the second part of 'matr' its meaning is 'function', 'performer' 'instrument'. Therefore 'Ma' whose meaning is' limit' 'measure' 'time' is combined with 'Tr' whose meaning is' function '' performer '' instrument 'and this produces' matr' whose meaning is the one who performs the function (tr) of setting the limits (ma) and she who performs the #function (tr) of maintaining the material world (ma). 'Matr' also means she who 'measures' since everything comes from the mother she is the measure of all things and throughout her life she is constantly concerned with things of a temporal nature, with things of a limited nature and with things that are governed by time. all of which are expressed in his name. The #ancients recognized that human beings have a duty to perform and the most important were the roles of mother and father, so within a language based on ownership their duties were reflected in their names as "pitr", #Father, accepted the responsibility of the #spiritual well-being of the family while the 'matr', #Mother, was the builder of nests, the #breeder, the #gatherer. A Lesson From The Lilies - The Teachings of Jesus Christ - Episode 50

Peace! https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=5E6WCP8KAS4NG A Lesson From The Lilies “Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow.” Matthew 6:28 KJV In His ministry, the Lord Jesus often used illustrations from the world around Him. Objects and scenes that His listeners would be familiar with were taken, and lessons were drawn from them. This, combined with His authority, certainly must have made His teaching memorable. Consider The Lilies Do you ever wish you had been alive when Jesus was here on earth? “If only He were here today,” you may be thinking, “and I could sit with a crowd and listen to His enthralling teaching!” While that is not possible, many of the objects and situations that He spoke about are still with us, and we can surely benefit as we take time to “consider” them. Although the “lilies of the field” that the Lord was looking at may be difficult to identify precisely today (Bible commentators have different ideas), we are all familiar with wildflowers. You may have seen a field of wild poppies, for instance, swaying gently in the breeze. Flowers can appear so graceful, yet at the same time they are very simple objects. Their life-cycle is marked by growth. First a shoot appears, then later a tight bud gradually opens into a beautiful full bloom. One Of These Flowers have a glory of their own. Amazingly, as He surveyed “the lilies of the field,” Jesus said that “even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these” (Mt. 6:29). Solomon was arguably Israel's greatest king. He surpassed all other kings for riches and wisdom (1 Ki. 10:23). His reign epitomized glory. “And yet” (Mt. 6:29) Jesus said, with all his splendor Solomon was not dressed like one of these wild flowers! They Toil Not Clearly there are different kinds of glory. Solomon's glory was very impressive. Those, like the Queen of Sheba who visited him, were overwhelmed by what they saw. How, then, could one lily in the field exceed Solomon in all his glory? The answer is found in the words “they toil not, neither do they spin” (Mt. 6:28). Solomon's robes of majesty had been skillfully woven and embroidered, and all this required much time and effort. The lilies of the field were beautiful naturally – without any toiling or spinning. Their growth was effortless and their beauty came from within. The Secret The secret is simply this. The glory of our lives does not depend upon our human striving and effort. God wants the Holy Spirit to take over, working quietly within to promote growth and produce His own distinctive fruit. This is the sure way to bring glory to our Creator and blessing to other people. Source tafj.org My E-book dedicated to Lo-Fi Music : tinyurl.com/9h269be Find out what CBD and cannabinoids are. Peace! https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=5E6WCP8KAS4NG Anyone who hears lo-fi hip hop music for the first time, whatever the format, immediately feels a sense of community. That's how Toni Blackman, musician, artist, teacher and hip-hop's first ambassador to the U.S. State Department, felt when she first heard it decades ago. "I felt like I had found home," she says, recalling wondering, "if there are other artists who feel the same way I do, who feel the way I do? In addition to a sense of belonging, experts say the appeal of lo-fi hip hop music lies in the music itself - how the tunes feel and what they remind us of." Lo-Fi music can fit all genres of music, as the term refers to is recorded music (low-fidelity). This includes ambient sounds , such as children playing outside or the rustling of papers. These can be combined with other "natural sounds that give the feeling of music coming through walls," says Elliot Gann, a psychologist and executive director of Today's Future Sound, an organization that brings therapeutic beat-making and listening to after-school programs. Born in 1997 in Kloetinge, the Netherlands, Pim Sebastiaan de Jonge (Sebastian Kamae) began his journey at just 5 years old, when he had his first music lessons. Quickly, he discovered his love for the piano and in high school began producing and making beats. While developing his skills, Kamae played in several bands. He then decided to study MediaMusic at ArtEZ and graduated as a Bachelor of Arts in 2018 in music production, composition, and audio engineering. In the fall of 2017, he landed an internship in Chicago at SoundScape Studios, where he had the opportunity to work and connect with artists such as Kweku Collins, Femdot, Khary, Ajani Jones, Jack Red, Qari, Melo Makes Music & many more. Sebastian Kamae released his first album, Waves, on June 27, 2018. A few singles followed and his first instrumental EP Wired was released in December 2018. He signed a publishing deal with Cloud 9 Music and is now involved in music full-time mainly in the Netherlands and the United States. His second album Enjoy the Ride was recorded mostly in Chicago and was released in November 2019.
