Salvation is found through faith in Jesus Christ alone—a truth that stands in contrast to a growing movement in the West of “Torah Observant Christians” who argue that Gentile believers must follow Old Testament laws to secure salvation. Phylicia, however, emphasizes a key distinction: while Jewish Christians may observe these laws as part of their cultural heritage and historical connection, such practices are not necessary for salvation. ————————————————Mentioned in this episode⭐️ Understanding the Old Testament Course: https://phyliciamasonheimer.com/product/understanding-the-old-testament-course/⭐️ Freedom from Legalism Course: https://phyliciamasonheimer.com/product/freedom-from-legalism-course/⭐️ Who the Son Sets Free | Galatians Bible Study: https://phyliciamasonheimer.com/product/galatians-bible-study/————————————————

Does God care if you're happy at all? Is His goal to make you holy or happy? Does He care about your desires? Even the ones that won't necessarily “sanctify” you? Am I an accidental Buddhist!? SO. MANY. QUESTIONS. Kristina Garza & Mackenzie Ryder interviewed me about asceticism, which I lived in for a very long time. I essentially believed that the more I suffered, the holier I became. Have you ever heard phrases like, "Don't pray for patience because then God will make you wait." or "God wants to make you holy, not happy."? These and more are phrases that misconstrue the character of God in our minds. It's very difficult to trust the person who you think is both harming and helping you. And is it possible that your desires were placed in you by God for a reason? We seem to always want a "yes" or "no" answer from Him directly instead of just learning how to adult. For many years, there were very few resources for Christians who wanted to learn how to have a healthy sex life. Now Christians can find more and more books, courses, and videos to help them. It's great to have choices, but sometimes it's hard to know whether or not a particular resource is good. Today we're joined by Phylicia Masonheimer. She encourages women to discern God's truth and live out their faith boldly in every area of their lives—including the bedroom. We talk about why it's difficult to discern which resources are biblical and helpful, what to consider when evaluating a resource, and whether to use a secular resource and then share a few recommendations. Sponsor Click here to learn more about Revival AI's investment opportunity. From the Bible Ephesians 5 NIV What does God have to say about evaluating resources? The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow his precepts have good understanding. To him belongs eternal praise. – Psalm 111:10 In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God’s word all over again. You need milk, not solid food! Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness. But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil. – Hebrews 5:12-14 See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ. – Colossians 2:8 If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. – James 1:5 But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. Peacemakers who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness. – James 3:17-18 Teach me, Lord, the way of your decrees, that I may follow it to the end. Give me understanding, so that I may keep your law and obey it with all my heart. Direct me in the path of your commands, for there I find delight. Turn my heart toward your statutes and not toward selfish gain. Turn my eyes away from worthless things; preserve my life according to your word. – Psalm 119:33-37 Resources Phylicia Masonheimer's website Verity Podcast with Phylicia Masonheimer Sexuality | Phylicia Masonheimer How to Read a Marriage Book | Hot, Holy & Humorous Are You in an Abusive or Destructive Marriage? | Hot, Holy & Humorous The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work by John Gottman & Nan Silver The Four Horsemen: Criticism, Contempt, Defensiveness, & Stonewalling | The Gottman Institute Leslie Vernick ministry The Emotionally Destructive Marriage: How to Find Your Voice and Reclaim Your Hope by Leslie Vernick Christian Cosmo: The Sex Talk You Never Had by Phylicia Masonheimer Pillow Talk: 40 Conversations about Sex for Married Couples by J. In an occasional series, the Who's He? Podcast talk about those people who have travelled with the Doctor over the last 50 or so years - the companions. Those people who have stepped through the doors of the TARDIS and have seen the wonder and the dangers of travelling in time and space. In this edition, Phil is joined by Erika Ensign from the Verity Podcast and Stephen Schapansky from Radio Free Skaro who have selected as their favourite companion, Clara Oswald. They discuss why Clara is the perfect companion, just how important a strong character such as hers is to keeping Doctor Who fresh and they both pick the moments that defined Clara for them.
"Pen Pals" - Deborah Stanish, of the Verity Podcast (all about Dr. Who), joins Scott to discuss Pen Pals (TNG S2E15). They ponder the ramifications of the Prime Directive, the Riker School of Management vs. the Picard School of Management, wiping someone's memory without permission, and horse riding. Host Scott McNulty with Deborah Stanish.
"Where No Man Has Gone Before" - Katrina Griffiths, of the Verity Podcast, joins Scott to discuss the second Star Trek TOS pilot: Where No Man Has Gone Before (TOS S1E1 or 3). 60’s contact lenses, Creepy Gary Mitchell transforming into Creepier Gary Mitchell, and the fate of Dr. Dehner are all covered. Host Scott McNulty with Katrina Griffiths.

In this episode of the Who's He? Podcast, Phil is joined by the marvelous Erika Ensign from the Verity Podcast to discuss a Doctor Who story of her choice which is Asylum of The Daleks by Steven Moffat. During their discussion they cover Amy and Rory relationship, the way fandom kept quiet over Jenna Coleman appearing in this story, just how good Matt Smith was as the Doctor and Phil lets slip his reputation as a podcaster! And in the news, a series 8 teaser trailer that caught everyone by surprise and The Day of The Doctor's success at last weeks BAFTA's. Day two of Gallifrey One 2014, and the bright eye of the Three Who Rule cast its fiery, lidless wrath upon the missing episodes. Steven and Chris interview Restoration Team head and video genius Steve Roberts on his own, and missing episode experts Damian Shanahan and Jon Preddle together. But lest you think we’re all about dusty old stories of yesteryear (which, let’s be honest, we sort of are) we also have Erika Ensign of the Verity Podcast and Jason Snell, the impresario behind The Incomparable podcast. So sit back, relax and let the good feelings flow over you as we bring you the finest bits of Gally straight from our mice to your ears. Check out the show notes at http://www.radiofreeskaro.com
A special podcast episode recorded at Chicago TARDIS 2013 featuring a one-on-one interview with classic series sound designer Dick Mills, the "Podcast Playground" panel with Erika Ensign & Lynne M. Thomas of the Verity Podcast and Alex Kennard of the Reality Bomb Podcast, and a report from Gordon Dymowski on the charity auction.
"Whimsical yet terrifying" is an apt way to describe "The Crimson Horror," this week's commentary, but also an accurate portrayal of current Who news. What missive struck fear into the stalwart hearts of the Three Who Rule? Possibly the fact that CBC executives wanted to dub over Christopher Eccleston's Northern England accent with something more suitable to Canadian ears. Perhaps a Newfie accent would have made more sense. Or perhaps it was the notion that filming on Series 8 of Doctor Who won't begin until January? The horror continued with a discussion of David Lee Roth's storied career, what constitutes a bad fan (hint: probably everything) and more! And that's before the commentary, with special guest Deb Stanish of the Verity Podcast! Enjoy! Check out the show notes at http://www.radiofreeskaro.com
And that's a wrap for series 7. Join Deb, Erika, Liz, and Lynne as we discuss whether the season closer was everything we hoped it could be or left us feeling slightly uncomfortable. Were the fans properly serviced? Was the last climax really a climax? Was the "reward" video of Matt Smith and David Tennant really much of a reward? We cover all this and more. ^E Also covered [links on our site]:Series 8 is a thing! And Matt Smith will be in it!All the Doctor Who DVDs!Daemons action figure set available for pre-order!Hello Sweetie Podcast!
Neil Gaiman has returned to Doctor Who! Was it a triumph, a colossal failure, or something in between? Join Deb, Erika, Kat, and Tansy as we discuss Mr. Gaiman's sophomore Who effort. Were the Cyberman scarier or overpowered? Was the addition of children a bad idea or a wasted opportunity? Are cybermites cute? Or really cute? We tackle these questions and more. ^E Also covered:More than 30 Years in the TARDIS! and Queers Dig Time Lords!South Park Doctor Who fanfic: Unlocking South Park!Meglos! and Underworld!Philadelphia Comic Con!
Saturday brought us Mark Gatiss' sophomore series 7b story. Savvy? Join Deb, Erika, Liz, and Tansy as we cover "The Crimson Horror." One of us really didn't like it, and it may not be who you expect. See who thinks what about the Victorian trio. Find out who doesn't know who The Wiggles are. Marvel that Erika bought a Doctor Who audio. And if you're like Lynne when she's not on the episode, yell at the recording for being so wrong! ^E Also covered [links on our site]: POSSIBLY SPOILERY 50th anniversary set photos! Doctor Who is spooky again! Did it work? Join Deb, Erika, Katrina, and Lynne as we pick apart "Hide." What was explained well? What wasn't? Did this story pass the Bechdel test? If not, was that failure totally out of line? (We never do reach agreement there.) Hooray!!!! It’s BACK people! Doctor Who has once again graced our screens, and we at Verity! couldn't be happier about it. Join Deb, Erika, Kat, and Lynne as we squee and chat and theorize and squee some more over Matt Smith, Clara, motorbikes, the TARDIS and much more. (Ok, so it’s not 100% squeeful, but the squee factor is high for this ep. You've been warned.) ^E Also covered: David Tennant and Billie Piper will return for the 50th! With new episodes of Doctor Who on the horizon, Deb, Erika, Kat, and Tansy take some time to reminisce about series 7a and speculate about series 7b (not to be confused with serial codes 7A and 7B from "Trial of a Time Lord"). We also discuss costuming, cosplay, the rarity (or not) of watching Doctor Who in order, Big Finish audios, and perhaps most importantly, tapas. It's official! We have finally made our way back to the classic series. This week Deb, Erika, Liz, and Lynne discuss the virtues (and possible lack thereof--though not according to Liz) of The Curse of Fenric. It's new to Deb, it might as well be new to Erika, and it's clear Liz and Lynne have seen it a few times. Just a few... ^E Also covered: Ice Warriors! Doctor Who 50th Celebration, ExCeL London! This extra-long Verity! Extra! picks right up where we left off last week. Deb, Erika, Liz, and Tansy leave the TV movie behind and spend some time talking about the bulk of the Eighth Doctor's work--the audios and books. There's even a brief mention of the comics. Erika reveals how little she knows about these (read: nothing), and many suggestions are offered regarding where to start. ^E Jumping-on audio suggestions: Deb - Blood of the Daleks Liz - Seasons of Fear Tansy - Storm Warning
Our trek through the Doctors' eras finally breaks free of the confines of new Who, though we're technically not yet back in the welcoming arms of classic Who. This week, Deb, Erika, Liz, and Tansy natter on about the Eighth Doctor at such length that we run out of time to talk about his non-TV offerings. But fear not! Next week we promise you'll have a nice juicy Extra! filled with lots more Eighth Doctor goodness. ^E Also covered: Gallifrey One! Big Finish: Lady of Mercia, Fourth Doctor Adventures!
