Welcome back to Morgan Hasn't Seen with Jeannine Brice & Morgan Robinson!!The return of one of Morgan Hasn't Seen's original favourite series formats for April as Jeannine has crafted together another fascinating, and rather silly, look at Movies Based On TV Shows! They will also be watching an episode of each show discussed to see how it compares to its movie adaptation!A dryly hilarious double feature to centre the series as Jeannine introduces Morgan to one of the most beloved sitcom families, THE BRADY BUNCH! Dennis is joined via Zoom by television writer Stan Zimmerman to talk about his memoir The Girls: From Golden to Gilmore, which documents his career working on such iconic shows as Roseanne, The Golden Girls and Gilmore Girls as well as The Brady Bunch Movie and A Very Brady Sequel. In this first part of a two-part interview, Stan talks about his midwest upbringing and how his mother bought him the ballet shoes he wanted behind his father's back. He also talks about meeting his longtime writing partner Jim Berg, why they work wll together and how they landed a gig on the first season of The Golden Girls when they were still in their 20's Stan also recalls feeling like he had to stay in the closet on that job but feeling like he had an ally in Estelle Getty. He talks about the culture of fear that was so common in TV writers rooms in those days and expresses hope that things are better today. He also talks fondly about working with director Betty Thomas on the first Brady Bunch Movie as a punch-up writer and feeling like his contribution was finally being properly appreciated...only to end up without a screen credit thanks to an old WGA rule. He also recalls Bea Arthur being concerned that the Golden Girls writing staff was too young, Rue McLanahan being extra funny when she said words ending in E-R, and the eyebrow raising thing Betty White would do when Estelle Getty flubbed her lines. Other topics include: the warm fuzzies Stan gets when he talks with Golden Girls fans, suggesting RuPaul for that cameo in The Brady Bunch Movie, Pia Zadora's giant cell phone and how when it comes to a career in entertainment, it's all about perseverance.

The podcast is back at full strength as Sean returns to the co-chair on this one. You would think all that time away would give us time to find new and exciting things to talk about, but thankfully we immediately fall back into our habit of talking about garbage no one has cared about for literal decades. This time around there's a long discussion about Siskel and Ebert's At the Movies and the insane opinions of these two maniacs: Pleasantville being better than Saving Private Ryan, Babe: Pig in the City also being better than Saving Private Ryan, Black Stallion being better than Raging Bull, and Siskel's completely unsurprising love of Star 80. We also discuss that one scene in A Very Brady Sequel, the Action Boyz watching Godfrey Ho movies, getting squeezed out like a toothpaste roller, The Long Kiss Goodnight, the potential end to Sean's Tubi Corner, Jim Carrey's Foghat Man character, Shawn Hatosy sliding down a prop slide, the VHS copy of Medium Cool that destroyed Brad's VCR, Annie, the positive side of Grease 2, the many scores of Tangerine Dream, AIM screen names based on the surfing movie Blue Crush, God Lives Underwater vs. Primitive Radio Gods vs. Godsmack, and of course MTV's Fear. --- Website: www.queenvenerator.com Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/queenvenerator/ Bluesky: https://bsky.app/profile/queenvenerator.bsky.social

On today's episode, we're watching our figures for our new boyfrands, doing some amatuer detective work, and also heading out on a Hawaiian vacation, while we revisit the absolutely fever dream of a movie that is A Very Brady Sequel (1996). This movie was directed by Arlene Sanford, and written by Harry Elfont, Deborah Kaplan, James Berg and Stan ZimmermanThis movie stars Shelley Long (Outrageous Fortune, The Money Pit), Gary Cole (The West Wing, The Good Wife), and Tim Matheson (National Lampoon's Animal House, She's All That). We also have some great performances from Olivia Hack (Hey Arnold, Avatar: The Last Airbender), Christine Taylor (Campfire Tales, Zoolander), Jennifer Elise Cox (EDtv, Moesha) and Christopher Daniel Barnes (Spider-Man, The Little Mermaid). Included along with these folks are fun cameos from Rupaul, Rosie O' Donnell, Zsa Zsa Gabor, and John Hillerman. This movie was made out of the immense success of the first film, but in true sequel fashion, goes off the rails and dives into more of the camp/kitsch territory. This movie has a bit more of an edge to it, and really cranks up the over-the-top nature, but for some reason, this movie feels like a nice, warm blanket, and I will watch it at any time to get all the feels! In a battle of prominent sequels of the 1990s, only the best make it to the Final Four... unless one of the Old Millennials Hosts screws up the seeding... then anything can happen! That's right, "Lethal Weapon 4" has a shot at glory! In our third installment of a (late) March tradition, Old Millennials hosts Tyler and Angela compare brackets and argue about 32 (ish) 90s-era sequels to decide the best of the best. Keep in mind, these are sequels, and, well, most of them aren't really that great. Our bracket begins with four definitive quadrants: Comedy Sequels - including titles like "Addams Family Values," "Wayne's World 2" and an explosive play-in game between "Hot Shots: Part Deux" and a "Very Brady Sequel." Also, listen to Tyler needlessly defend "City Slickers 2: The Legend of Curly's Gold." Sequels for the Kids - can anything beat Pixar's "Toy Story 2"? "Home Alone 2: Lost in New York" and a couple "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" sequels want a shot. Also, watch out "3 Ninjas Knuckle Up." LOL, it has no shot. Blockbuster Sequels - Tyler and Angela set up a bloodbath between some of the decade's most successful films, from "Terminator 2: Judgment Day" to various "Batmans," a "Jurassic Park" and more. Outliers and oddities - Listen, don't think to hard about the logic of this final pack of nine titles (which includes a battle between "Look Who's Talking" sequels. We couldn't fit everything easily, okay! Anyway, check out a "Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit," an "Army of Darkness" and a beloved "Star Trek" entry. Tyler plays the game with his heart, while Angela builds a complicated points system to determine the TRUE choice. There will be disagreements. There will be tears. There will be some baffling movie opinions. Two Hearts and One Braincell: Cassidy Carson & JT Hume Amateur Hour

We talk about the challenges and dangers of using “power words” and “trigger words” in this week's writer's podcast. Our definitions: “Power Words” can be used to develop an emotional connection between the reader and writer, where “Trigger Words” exist to illicit an emotional response, often a knee-jerk negative emotional response. Candidly, we struggle to draw the line between the two. We talk about both in general communication, and we use the vaccination argument as an example. For writing, we use the romantic genre in how power words can shape a writer's manuscript. Trigger warning (ironically): we use personal examples from our upbringing and, yes, we get wound up. Spoilers: “Arrow” and “A Very Brady Sequel.” There is also singing (sorry). Have a listen and let us know what you think. TIA! LYL! (Also: “Impactful” is not a real word.”)

The Girls do a deep dive off Gilligan's Island, with special guest and Gilligan Expert, Robbie-Ann's childhood bestie Karen. Karen talks about her all-things Tiki obsession, which evolved into a Gilligan's Island obsession. Robbie-Ann asks, and Karen answers, the tough questions: how did they get years out of that radio battery? Why didn't they build a boat? Where did they get all those wardrobe changes from just a three-hour tour (a threeee hour tour...)? Amy talks about her after-school joy watching Gilligan's Island, and her love for the vibrant colors on the show. Karen and Robbie-Ann reminisce about getting off the kindergarten bus at Karen's house and spending the afternoon on the Island. Amy reveals the shocking world tragedy event that occurred on the day the cast were filming the pilot episode, and how you can see a reference to it in the original opening sequence. Amy goes on to describe Sherwood Schwartz' origins of the show, as something of a political statement. Shocker: when Schwartz first conceived the series, the seven characters originally represented the Seven Deadly Sins. Can you identify who was which? The Girls discuss. Karen reveals her favorite episode, featuring the fictional Beatle-esque band the Mosquitos. The Girls dissect the Honey Bees' (Ginger, Mary Ann and Mrs. Howell) song "You Need Us." Naturally this leads to discussing the iconic tv Gilligan's Island theme song, and Karen reveals a crazy fact about the Wellingtons, who sang it. Amy reveals that the original pilot's Calypso theme song was co-written by none other than Star Wars, Jaws, Indiana Jones and E.T. composer John Williams. BUT - then Amy also reveals what Christmas classic was written by George Wyle, who co-wrote the historic "Just sit right back..." theme song that ended up in the show. Amy reports the five basic plot lines that covered almost all of the episodes. Gilligan's opera-radio reception in his teeth. The Dream Sequence episodes. Trivia: The Skipper's real name. The Professor's real name. Mrs. Howell's maiden name. Which cast member was the only one allowed by Sherwood Schwartz to improvise? The 1978  "Rescue from Gilligan's Island" tv movie. Casting Could-have-beens: could Jane Mansfield have been Ginger? Tina Louise, "method actor." The old Ginger vs. Mary Ann debate. Gilligan's first name: a controversy. Raquel Welch or Pat Priest as Mary Ann? Carol O'Connor as the Skipper? Dabney Coleman as The Professor? Dawn Wells, Natalie Schafer and their "Ice Cream Diet." Which Gilligan's Island stars ended up on Sherwood Schwartz' next sitcom, The Brady Bunch? Jim Backus' stellar acting pedigree. The show's enduring effect on its cast: typecasting. Which cast members embraced their roles after the show, and who didn't. Which cast member ended up being the only one still earning residuals decades later? The Gilligan's Island tie-in to the "Very Brady Sequel" movie. Sidebar: the 1990's Brady movies. "Gilligan's Planet?!!" "Aloha Paradise" - who remembers this show? The Gilligan's Island "warm fuzzy." Mary Ann's navel: snuck by the network standards and practices. The various island inventions: the car, the washing machine. Sidebar: Robbie-Ann and Karen talk about their kindergarten friendship, and the outfits they wore. Gilligan's Island shooting locations - where Seinfeld and Roseanne were also filmed. Who was the only Gilligan's Island star who did not guest star on The Love Boat? Sidebar: a discussion of their Gen X Childhood friendship. Robbie-Ann describes going to see Shaun Cassidy with Karen in 1978, and Amy wants to know what Karen and Robbie-Ann wore to the show. Who had better toys, Karen or Robbie-Ann? Robbie-Ann coveted Karen's Bionic Woman Dome House, her I Dream of Jeannie doll and bottle-house playset, and her Pet Ghost. Robbie-Ann describes the first day of kindergarten 40+ years ago, when she and Karen met. Karen and Robbie-Ann talk about kindergarten life in the 70s, and Robbie-Ann's bravery in the face of being told she couldn't play with the boy's better toys at recess. Final thoughts on the "warm fuzzy" of Gilligan's Island: there was no villain, no romance on the island, and Karen celebrates the real life friendship between Mary Ann, and Natalie Schafer.
