Send us a textDive into an engaging and thoughtful discussion as we explore the intersection of Christianity and politics, particularly regarding the views on the Trump administration's actions and their implications. Together with my daughter, Hannah, we reflect on lines of celebration amidst contentious political events—from government job losses to tough stances on immigration. This topic ignites deep moral considerations on how we, as Christians, choose to engage with political realities while remaining true to our faith. As the conversation unfolds, we address the societal expectations placed on Christians, our duty to voice our opinions, and where efficiency and compassion intersect in the realm of politics. Send us a textIn 1994, Susan Smith rolled her car into a nearby body of water, drowning her two small sons. The ensuing investigation and trial were a media firestorm. 30 years later, she's up for parole with many folks saying she shouldn't be released or even deserves the death penalty. Hannah Miller and Dr. Robert Jackson discuss the details of the tragedy and whether Susan Smith's 30 years in prison is a sufficient Biblical and Constitutional punishment. Send us a textCould society's reaction to Susan Smith's parole bid change how we view abortion?" In this episode of "More Than Medicine," my daughter Hannah Miller (the Host of The Hannah Miller Show Podcast) and I delve into the infamous 1994 case of Susan Smith. As Smith faces parole after 30 years in prison for the deaths of her two young sons, we dissect the public's heated response to her potential release. We then draw a controversial comparison to the actions of women who seek abortions, questioning why societal attitudes towards maternal responsibility differ so starkly in these cases.Next, we explore a provocative argument for equal justice for unborn children, advocating for their right to the same legal protections as any citizen. Using biblical and constitutional perspectives, we compare abortion to high-profile murder cases, proposing that those who perform abortions should face similar legal repercussions. We tackle complex objections, such as pregnancies resulting from rape, and emphasize the importance of a fair judicial system to navigate these sensitive issues, supported by scriptural affirmations of pre-born personhood.Lastly, we shine a spotlight on the inspiring journey of Allison Felix, whose advocacy for nursing mothers at the Olympics broke new ground. From her secretive training during pregnancy to securing landmark sponsorships, Felix's efforts led to crucial accommodations for female athletes. We reflect on the broader significance of her advocacy, celebrating her courage and the collective support from fellow athletes. This episode underscores the necessity of supporting women in sports during pregnancy and motherhood, while honoring Felix's pivotal role in challenging outdated norms. Send us a Text Message. Join us on More Than Medicine as we recount the experience of watching the Olympic opening ceremony in Paris. I, Dr. Robert Jackson, alongside my daughter Hannah Miller, share memories of the 1972 Olympics, only to steer into a discussion about the recent depiction of the Lord's Supper featuring transgender and homosexual participants. This provocative representation has ignited widespread outrage, and we dissect the cultural and religious implications of such performances, focusing on the broader conversations it has sparked online and in religious communities. We dive deep into the complex topic of blasphemy and the Christian response to offensive displays, referencing the controversial rendition of Da Vinci's Last Supper at the opening ceremony. By exploring the historical context of the Olympics' association with paganism and the Pope's past decisions to cancel similar events, we reflect on the cultural shift from Christianity to a more compromising stance. Our conversation urges believers to find a balance between speaking the truth in love and avoiding destructive condemnation or compromise, emphasizing the need for a well-rounded approach to addressing sin and blasphemy.Balancing truth and love becomes the focal point as we examine the tension between moral courage and cultural engagement. Reflecting on Jesus' teachings and the increasing visibility of the LGBTQ agenda in public spaces, we stress the importance of personal integrity and the responsibility of Christians to speak out against evil deeds. Current events serve as a springboard for deeper gospel conversations, and we wrap up with an insightful dialogue with our guest, Hannah Miller, underscoring the sovereignty of God and the ultimate accountability of those who mock Him. Join us for a riveting conversation with Hannah Miller from The Hannah Miller Show Podcast as she confronts her father, Dr. Robert Jackson, on the historical and contemporary dynamics of pastors and politics. Hannah and Dr. Jackson delve into the critical role of pastors as shepherds guiding their congregations to engage responsibly and proactively in cultural issues. We also explore the controversial Johnson Amendment and its implications on pastors' free speech, scrutinizing how religious leaders can navigate political discourse without legal repercussions. TV In The Basement : Television's greatest shows and the occasional movie
Richard Lewis, a comedic force and a staple in American television, has graced the screen with his unique brand of humor, blending neurosis and self-deprecation into an art form. From his sitcom successes to his unforgettable guest appearances, Lewis's impact on TV comedy is undeniable. This episode of "TV In The Basement" pays tribute to Richard Lewis, exploring his memorable TV appearances, including "Anything But Love," his work with Don Rickles, and his unforgettable role in "Curb Your Enthusiasm.”His rapport with Johnny Carson was particularly noteworthy. Carson, known for his impeccable timing and deadpan humor, played the perfect straight man to Lewis's manic energy. The contrast between Carson's cool demeanor and Lewis's anxious presence made for television that was as unpredictable as it was hilarious. Lewis's appearances during the Carson era were highlights of the show, capturing the essence of what made late-night talk shows a vital part of American culture. Richard Lewis's relationship with David Letterman was rooted in a shared comedic sensibility, with both comedians having a penchant for the absurd and the observational. "Late Night with David Letterman" provided Lewis with a platform that seemed tailor-made for his brand of humor. Letterman's offbeat style and willingness to push boundaries complemented Lewis's neurotic storytelling, making each appearance a memorable event. Lewis was among the cadre of comedians who thrived in Letterman's late-night realm, where the interviews often felt like conversations between old friends rather than scripted segments. His appearances were replete with anecdotes that were both hilariously relatable and uniquely bizarre, embodying the show's spirit. The mutual respect between Lewis and Letterman was evident, with Letterman often giving Lewis the space to explore his comedic tangents, leading to moments of unplanned, genuine laughter. In "Anything But Love," Lewis played Martin Gold, a witty, neurotic magazine writer whose life intertwines with Hannah Miller, portrayed by Jamie Lee Curtis, a bright and ambitious researcher. The series, which aired from 1989 to 1992, explored their complex relationship, marked by a mutual attraction and the fear of ruining their close friendship by pursuing romance. The show was ahead of its time, delving into themes of love, friendship, and the intricacies of human relationships with a mature, thoughtful approach rarely seen in sitcoms of that era. Richard Lewis's portrayal of Marty was a significant departure from the typical leading men on television. Marty Gold was introspective, filled with existential dread, and yet undeniably charming—qualities that Lewis infused with his own personal brand of humor. His character often served as a mouthpiece for the anxieties of the modern man, trying to find love and success in a rapidly changing world. Jamie Lee Curtis's Hannah Miller was the perfect counterpart to Marty. Her character's independence, intelligence, and warmth made her a beloved character, and her chemistry with Lewis was palpable. Their on-screen relationship navigated the tension between maintaining their friendship and exploring deeper feelings, a dynamic that resonated with audiences and became the heart of the show."Anything But Love" also benefited from a strong supporting cast, including Holly Fulger as Robin Dulitski, Marty's quirky assistant, and Bruce Weitz as Jules Bennett, the magazine's blustery editor. The interactions among the ensemble cast provided a rich backdrop to the evolving relationship between Marty and Hannah, adding layers of comedy and drama that enriched the show. Beyond the laughter, "Anything But Love" was notable for its intelligent writing and its willingness to tackle social issues and personal dilemmas with sensitivity and depth. Episodes often blended humor with moments of genuine emotion, a testament to the skill of the writers and the cast's ability to deliver nuanced performances. The legacy of "Anything But Love" is found in its innovative approach to storytelling within the sitcom format, blending comedy and drama to explore the complexities of relationships and personal growth. Richard Lewis's performance as Marty Gold showcased his range as an actor, moving effortlessly between humor and heartfelt moments. The series remains a cherished part of television history, remembered for its warmth, wit, and the unforgettable chemistry between Lewis and Curtis.Richard Lewis's collaboration with Don Rickles was a meeting of comedic minds. "Daddy Dearest" was a sitcom that aired briefly in 1993, featuring the comedic talents of Lewis and Don Rickles. The premise of "Daddy Dearest" revolves around Steven, a single father and psychologist, who is trying to raise his young son while dealing with his own father, Al, a loud-mouthed, opinionated retiree who embodies the very antithesis of political correctness and modern sensitivity. The sitcom delves into the challenges and comedic situations that arise from Al's unsolicited involvement in Steven's personal and professional life, often leading to friction but also heartfelt moments between father and son. "Daddy Dearest" struggled to find its footing in a competitive television landscape and was ultimately short-lived, with only a portion of the episodes produced being aired. Despite the show's brief run, it showcased the unique chemistry between Richard Lewis and Don Rickles, combining Lewis's neurotic persona with Rickles's brash comedic style in a way that was both entertaining and innovative for its time.Perhaps Richard Lewis's most celebrated TV role came with "Curb Your Enthusiasm," where he played a fictionalized version of himself. His real-life friendship with Larry David translated into an on-screen dynamic that was both hilarious and heartfelt. Their banter, filled with petty grievances and overblown confrontations, became a cornerstone of the show's humor. Lewis's neurotic persona was a perfect match for the series, making him a beloved fixture across its run. Portraying a fictionalized version of himself, Lewis seamlessly blends into the show's fabric of improvised comedy, showcasing his unique brand of humor and neuroses that align perfectly with the show's tone. His interactions with Larry David are not just comedic gold but also offer a glimpse into the complexities of longstanding friendships, especially when both parties are as idiosyncratic and stubborn as Lewis and David. The dynamic between Richard Lewis and Larry David on "Curb Your Enthusiasm" is rooted in their real-life friendship, stretching back to their days as stand-up comedians. This authenticity lends a genuine quality to their on-screen banter, filled with petty grievances, mutual accusations, and hilarious reconciliations. Their disputes over trivial matters—be it a borrowed shirt, a lunch bill, or the infamous "big bowl" of caviar—reflect the show's exploration of the minutiae of daily life. Yet, beneath the surface-level bickering, there's a palpable sense of camaraderie and deep affection that resonates with viewers. Richard Lewis has been involved in numerous standout episodes throughout "Curb Your Enthusiasm," contributing to some of the show's most iconic moments. His neurotic tendencies often mirror Larry's, creating a comedic echo chamber where their shared anxieties amplify to absurd heights. One memorable storyline involves Lewis's need for a kidney transplant in Season 5, leading to an exploration of friendship's boundaries as Larry contemplates—and ultimately fumbles—the idea of being a donor. This plotline, while humorous, also underscores the show's ability to tackle serious themes through a comedic lens.A notable aspect of Richard Lewis's persona, both on and off "Curb Your Enthusiasm," is his trademark all-black attire. This sartorial choice has been a subject of humor on the show, emblematic of Lewis's comedic style—dark, introspective, yet undeniably endearing. It's this blend of personal quirks and comedic talent that makes his appearances on "Curb" so impactful. ___ Richard Lewis, whose comedic genius lit up screens and stages for decades, passed away leaving behind a legacy that will endure in the hearts of fans and fellow comedians.Born on June 29, 1947, Lewis's career spanned stand-up comedy, television, and film, but it was his unique voice in comedy—marked by his all-black attire and his self-reflective humor—that made him a beloved figure

Are you prepared for a divine exploration into the sacred bonds of family and the awe-inspiring power of motherhood? This conversation with Dr. Robert Jacksons endearing daughter Hannah Miller, and beloved wife Carlotta, promises to gift you with profound insights. We thoroughly discuss Kimberly Elles' impactful book, "The Invincible Family," and dissect its wisdom about the intricate dynamics between men and women, the vital roles of submission and leadership within the sanctity of marriage, and the relentless assaults by Satan on our cherished family units. The family, as we understand it, consists of a married man and woman blessed with children, and we emphasize the obligation for all Christians to share the gospel and nurture discipleship as a shield against these onslaughts.Brace yourself as we venture into the realm of motherhood, a role often unappreciated, yet, undeniably influential on the society we shape. A mother's influence extends beyond her children, imprinting their beliefs, values, and future decisions. Society's pressures might advocate for delayed marriage and motherhood, but we contest that it contradicts the natural design of our bodies. Mothers' sacrifices, a testament to their unconditional love, often go unnoticed, yet we celebrate their endless devotion in this episode. Current events, like men participating in women's sports and bathrooms, have stirred a fierce protective instinct in mothers, sparking conversations worth having. Join us as we honor the remarkable power and immense responsibility of motherhood.https://www.jacksonfamilyministry.comhttps://bobslone.com/home/podcast-production/

With Walkersville High having one of its best field hockey seasons ever, Lions coach Kelly Ditrick is this week's guest on The Final Score podcast. Ditrick chats with host Greg Swatek about the team's signature victory so far over perennial power Liberty, 2-1 on Sept. 22. Ditrick discusses the significance of that win and how it propelled her team going forward. She also talks about how the team has overcome the loss of twin sisters Oliva and Hannah Miller, the Offensive and Defensively Player of the Year, respectively, to gradation and how it shook off a season-opening loss to Francis Scott Key and hasn't loss since. Ditrick also talks about her own background in the sport, playing for a highly ranked college team at Kent State, and how she got into coaching. She also discusses the challenges of taking over the Walkersville program only a few weeks prior to the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. Prior to that conversation, FNP sports writers Alexander Dacy and John Cannon join Greg to talk about the latest happenings on fall sports scene in Frederick County, including a look back on Week 6 of the high school football season and a look ahead to Week 7.

Every generation produces a financier or businessperson who personifies how easy it can be to part fools from their money, part smart people from their senses, and part the media from skepticism. There's a long list of exhibits of that genre, from Charles Ponzi to Bernie Madoff. Does Sam Bankman-Fried belong in that pantheon? There's lots of evidence suggesting he does. He – and the crypto-currency empire he built – are the subjects of sprawling fraud and money laundering probes. His company, FTX, is bankrupt and federal prosecutors in New York have indicted the 31 year-old former multi-billionaire for a range of financial crimes. SBF, as he's known, maintains that he is innocent of any wrongdoing and he still gets to have his day in court. Hannah Miller covers crypto for Bloomberg News and is the host of a new podcast, “Spellcaster,” about the life and times of SBF. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

On this week's episode of The Rural Woman Podcast™, you'll meet Hannah Miller. Hannah is a 26-year-old farmer running her own business on her family's 175-acre farm in central Massachusetts. She has about 500 egg-laying chickens, 4 dairy cows that produce raw milk, and a small herd of goats who go on "goat hikes" with farm visitors. Hannah has a passion for working with livestock, being outdoors as much as possible, and connecting her local community to an agrarian way of life. The farm was an active dairy farm for many decades, but her family sold the cows in the late 90's, and for the last 20 years it was more or less just a hobby farm. Many of the fields became overgrown, the barns fell into disrepair, etc. For full show notes, including links mentioned in the show, head over to wildrosefarmer.com/133 . . .
